Fan Artist Feature - Rin The Yordle

Hey Summoners! For our first Fan Artists Feature we’ll be speaking with Rin, a seasoned community artist who’s created an awesome Yordle OC, and regularly streams on Twitch.

Check out more of her work on Twitter and Twitch! If you know someone that you'd like to recommend for a future Fan Artist Feature, please let us know here.

How did you get started creating League of Legends fan art?

I started playing League way back in Season 1, and as a joke, I doodle "Rinidinger" since I was an avid Heimerdinger player. The joke flew from there, and people enjoyed my doodles of both Rin and her interactions with champions. Eventually my friends convinced me to post the renditions of my doodled work to the forums which blew up so fast with so much support that I was inspired to draw more and more complete works. The rest is history from there!

What's been your favorite piece to create, and why?

That is so hard to answer. I've had so much fun creating almost every piece. Even the chibis, such as DJ Sona. Sugar Rush was a blast too, since I love being able to put my own spin on Poppy and making her look deviously cute. If you can't tell, yordles are hilariously fun to draw for me. I remember drawing Rumble for FeralPony back when he was first released. He was so excited! I just love seeing peoples responses to my creations. The hype that gets generated in this community based on fan art is the reason I keep doing this.

Do you have a dream project you’d like to work on?

I have several! I want to make chibi keychains and fully rendered paintings of each champion. I want to draw a HUGE landscape of summoners rift with the crazy battles that happen! I also want to re-draw all the yordles again since we have some new additions! I also use to be part of leaguecraft community and was in development of a Heimer replacement that put Rin in. I'd love to finish this model and see if I could implement her into the game, just for fun. There's so much I wish I could work on. I need Zilean to stop time so I can work faster!

Who’s your inspiration? Do you have any favorite League fan artists?

Kienan Lafferty (knockwurst) and Michael Maurino (Ironstylus) have been huge inspirations to me in the art department for many years now. I've also known Uguubear and FFSade for a very long time, and also became friends with ohnips recently. They all inspire me so much with their unique talents and involvements in the community. Gosh, I can't really name all the people that inspire me. I've been very fortunate to see the development of many artists over the years. So many talented people who've been around and we all cheer each other on! I still go back to my friends who got me to play league so many years ago and thank them for introducing me to it when they did. I don't know where I'd be without everyone!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with the community?

Don't be afraid to talk to other artist! A lot of us get busy but just tweeting at us or talking to us when we stream means a lot to us and we usually develop a community based on this! As I said, I've had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing people through the years because we've all banded together and helped develop each other over the years. I've learned so much from both new and advanced artists! Also... #TeamYordle
