They're very few options for AP Champs to defend against AD but AD champs have so many options ugh

{{sticker:slayer-jinx-unamused}}It really bugs me that the item builds for counter play are usually always in the AD champs favor when it comes to defensive items against AP Champs. As an AP Mage main, i always find it difficult to build defensively against a {{champion:238}} or a {{champion:157}} because the have so many items to protect themselves from AP damage and are able to build so much armor penetration, which is a mage's worst nightmare since all mages are super ad squishy (eg{{champion:69}} {{champion:127}} {{champion:90}} ) Below is a list comparing item utilization for defensive options for AP and AD Champs and you will see it's unequally favored to AD. I just hope Riot has a solution for this in the upcoming mage update. **MAGIC RESIST ITEMS THAT AD CHAMPS CAN EFFICIENTLY USE:** {{item:3155}} {{item:3156}} **Hexdrinker/MoM**: This item is perfect for ad assassins. It provides **20 AD, and 35 magic resist.** Its MR is pretty high for something that can usually be bought by the 2nd or 3rd back and can make spells basically a tickle early and mid game. It falls off late mid game but can be upgraded to Maw, **increasing AD to 50, MR to 55 and adding 10% ARPEN.** And in case you thought a mage finally has YOU beat grants **A SHIELD THAT ABSORBS 300 MAGIC DAMAGE PLUS 100% OF ANY OTHER MR ADDED. PLUS** (if upgraded to MoM) **ADDS 25% ATK SPEED AND 10% LIFE STEAL/SPELL VAMP** So you can go HAM on the mage, shredding him with the ARPEN and ATTK Damage plus gaining some life back. AD Champs that can use this include but not limited to: {{champion:11}} {{champion:238}} {{champion:91}} {{champion:157}} {{champion:23}} {{item:3065}} **Spirit Visage:** Usually bought by tanky top laners. So now both AD caster/assassins have a viable way to prevent magic damage. Stats +500 health (gotta stay healthy) +70 magic resistance (one of the highest in the game) +150% base health regeneration (GOTTA STAY HEALTHY) +10% cooldown reduction (spam spam spam your ablilites so this may benefit for AD Casters/assassins as well....great) Passive UNIQUE: Increases effectiveness of all sources of healing by 20%, including health regeneration, life steal and spell vamp. (Build BotRK or any healing items/abilites and gg you presence in lane will outlast most ap Mages because the only healing ability we have is {{summoner:7}} , and no mages carries that spell, and potions. (except for {{champion:103}} {{champion:60}} {{champion:69}} {{champion:10}} {{champion:76}} {{champion:8}} they have a efficient form of self heal) AD Champs that can use this include but not limited to: {{champion:36}} {{champion:266}} {{champion:48}} {{champion:106}} {{champion:19}} {{champion:154}} {{item:3137}} {{item:3139}} **Dervish Blade/Mercurial Scimitar** This is a viable choice for the ADC due to the stats it brings. Stats +35 magic resistance (of course) +75 attack damage (who doesn't love this) +10% life steal (Heal yourself back up after damaging spells) Active UNIQUE – QUICKSILVER: Removes all debuffs from your champion and grants +50% movement speed for 1 second. 90 second cooldown. (This and {{item:3102}} are cancerous to mages. Lost of mages such as {{champion:103}} {{champion:34}} {{champion:90}}{{champion:63}} need a initial spell to make other spells work. The 90 sec cooldown doesn't help either so burst mages are left helpless. Not only burst mages but AP supports such as {{champion:412}} and {{champion:25}} are basically useless with that active. AD Champs that can use this include but not limited to:{{champion:22}} {{champion:51}} {{champion:119}} {{champion:81}} {{champion:429}} {{item:3102}}**Banshee's Veil** Basically the same as Mercs except more for tanks and supp Stats +500 health +70 magic resistance (Lol Maw's shield is gonna stack nicely) +100% base health regeneration Passive UNIQUE: Grants a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability. This shield refreshes after no damage is taken from enemy champions for 40 seconds. **ITEMS THAT COUNTER AD CHAMPS FOR AP CHAMPS** {{item:3191}} {{item:3157}} **Zhonya's Hourglass** Don't get me wrong Zhonyas is a great item. The ap is nice and the passive is what makes it iconic but there are some holes. Stats +45 armor (good early game but how do you get a Zhonya's that early in the game? Then after 20mins its a joke) +100 ability power (This is nice) Active UNIQUE – STASIS: Put yourself in Stasis icon stasis for 2.5 seconds, rendering yourself untargetable and invulnerable for the duration, but also unable to move, attack, cast spells, or use items during this time. 90 second cooldown. (Trust me it's saved me from sticky situations but its not made for everyone. After in stasis you completely open to any incoming bursts and skillshots, or your attacker can wait paitiently until you comeback and run you through. If you dont have much mobility like most mages dont, your screwed.) AP Champs that can use this include but not limited to:{{champion:55}} {{champion:127}} {{champion:74}} every mage HAS to use this when up against an ad champ because its the only item that gives both armor and ap unlike AP champs who have variety. {{item:3110}} **Frozen Heart** This is the only item i can say that actually protects mages. Although no Ap given and not cheap its gets you a bit tanky. Stats +90 armor (NICE) +400 mana(NICE) +20% cooldown reduction (NICE) Aura UNIQUE: Reduces the attack speed of nearby enemies by 15% (700 range). (NICEEEEE) All in all im just hoping Riot can include more aggressive items for ap champs that protect them from ad because we only have 2 choices and it isnt really fair.
