AP mids were oneshotting literally everyone with DFG
Fiora ult would basically 1 v 5 every game.
Janna made her team unkillable
Warwick would literally one shot people with his ult
multiple stuns were point and click (taric, Urgot, Warwick, Sion)
Bans were 3 per team. 6 total.
I'm not saying the games perfect now.. but it never has been perfect. the playerbase just adapts to what's broken, and tries to say the old days were better. They were never better. Twisted fate in the beta of this game could teleport anywhere he wanted and his ult was a global SLOW that provided vision. HIS E WAS HIS TELEPORT.
Nostalgia glasses make you think old things were better, but they weren't. We enjoyed them more because they were newer. We were fresh to the game, so things were new and unexpected. Maybe the games not getting worse, but we're getting tired of playing it? I personally have been playing this game for 8 years now, and Im not surprised by anything in games anymore. I'm at the point where I know whats going to kill me, I know what enemies are going to do. I know champions abilities, and their damage, I know how long zhonyas, GA, Trynd/Kayle Ult lasts.
Honestly the wierd little moments of imbalance are what keep the game interesting to me 8 years later. I dont think this game is dying. I think the playerbase that made it is getting older and the time we've put into it is starting to catch up to us.
I don't think Riot is out of options here either. A new map for normal/draft queue would spice things up. A permanent PVE mode would give us something to do between pvp matches. More Rotating game modes (where have they been?). I think these are all options that would reinvigorate our interest in the game, lessen the hate threads on boards, and extend the lifespan of this game for it's older audiences.
Last thought on this matter.. With all the world building they're doing, introducing us to the Vestayan, creating a world map, completely rewriting everyones lore, it'd be a mistake to not explore new areas for potential maps and game modes.
