Could someone explain 99 LP

I average around ~+20 LP gain per game. Suddenly when im at 68 LP, i get +15 for my first game, and then +16 for my next game, just so that i get the nice total of 99 LP. Why? This has happened to me allot. I can never seem to get to promos right away, I ALWAYS need to have a game first where im sitting at 95-99 LP. Im a bit salty, but the reason I post this here is bc I am genuinly interested into why this happens. Any thoughts?
