The memes and satire around the whole PAX situation are hilarious but let's be serious for a moment. I've been playing this game for over 4 years, recently made Diamond for the first time ever this season. I don't hate Riot like some others do, I love Riot and the game and I want to see it succeed. I want to see it blow up again and be bigger than Fortnite. This is the only game that has never gotten boring for me, and I've been a hardcore gamer for over 20 years. That said, I'm incredibly disappointed in Riot's handling of recent events.
Let's be real, although there is a lot of diversity in the League community and that's awesome, I'm willing to bet that at least half of League players (in NA and EU at least) are straight white guys between the ages of like 15-35. So as a white guy, when a high-ranking Rioter basically says "fuck you" just for my skin color and sex, and it seems to be endorsed by Riot as I haven't seen any Rioters explicitly condemn it, I'm not really sure how to feel about that. Not sure who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to literally exclude 50% of the population from a PAX event to supposedly make women feel empowered. What's so empowering about basically being told that Riot doesn't think you're capable of handling your problems or voicing your opinion without an explicit safe space away from men? Sounds pretty damn sexist to me. I swear it's like this company doesn't have any sense of professionalism or any PR people telling them "hey, this might not be a good idea." Lmao. I don't understand why companies always have to get fucking political instead of just remaining neutral, being professional and catering to their players as best they can.
I love the game, but I don't really want to support a company that feels this way about its playerbase. They basically just officially said "fuck you" to me along with at least half their playerbase. (I wonder how their shareholders feel about that.) And they expect me to still spend money on their game? I'm probably still gonna play, but I'm gonna hold off on spending any more money on RP until this is resolved. There needs to be a huge apology from Riot including DZK and others at a bare minimum, and soon. They need to be clear that they stand for everyone being treated and included equally, including "straight white males", if that is in fact what they stand for.
