why does every action RPG ever created have a "Catacombs" level where it's a cave maze?

EVery dark souls has it. Bloodborne has it. Nioh has it. Every zelda game I can think of has a level like this too. It's the dumbest fucking design that gets reused in virtually every action RPG ever created. Why? Who enjoys wandering around in a boring fucking cave where all the walls and grounds look exactly alike? Who does this cater to? Cave enthusiasts? I legit have an IRL hatred of caves now. if i saw one here in hawai'i I woudln't even explore it, because I'd be afraid of getting lost in it like I do in the fuckin' video games.
