Damage is a tool, just like tank, CC, range, and movement. Damage is the only thing that, on its own, can kill so is by default the most valuable one. Therefore the more you have of it late game, the less you do of everything else. LoL used to have a lot of fun viable things for all types of players, and not only should they get back to that, but that is the only way to do it right. Also inside the company they somehow came to the erroneous conclusion that the allure of LoL is getting yourself fed and kicking butt, but the real allure is getting fed to kick butt and carry, and two could not be more different. But don't forget what I said earlier, range is a tool too.
