I care about League of Legends, I genuinely do. I agree that there are problems that need fixing. I agree that Riot could be doing a better job. I agree that we have a bit of a situation right now, what with new runes and such-like.
However, do we really need to get this riled up about it?
I'm kind of on the anti-social side, so I tend to live for my hobbies. League has pretty much consumed my life at this point, alongside YouTube at a close second and anime third. I frequently check this site and Surrender@20 for all the latest League news, I play whenever I get the chance (which has been becoming more and more often), and I'll often think about it when I'm not focused on my work or just thinking about random other stuff. Having said all that, I'm still confused as to how this game warrants all the anger and negativity I've seen on the Boards.
I'm not trying to say that any of your complaints are unwarranted (believe me, many of them are), nor am I trying to say that I care about the game less than any of you. But at the end of the day, that's all it is: a game.
I will openly admit that Riot frustrates me sometimes, but I just don't have it in me to devote such strong feeling to something that is just a game. I just don't feel like it's worth it. You guys are passionate, I get it. But insulting Riot's intelligence? Using foul language flippantly to get your point that could've been said more calmly across? Calling for specific Rioters to be _fired_? There is a difference between being passionate about something and just being hateful. A great many of you have crossed the line between rightfully angry and just plain unreasonable.
If you're living a life where you can devote all your negativity to a video game, I envy you. I wish I had that few worries in my life. If, on the other hand, you do have other things to worry about (e. g. politics, family issues, etc.), then maybe you should take some of the passion that you're using on a video game and direct it toward something that actually matters in the real world.
