For those who don't already know, Rimworld is a colony simulator and was in development for 5+ years. It was programmed largely by one indie developer, Tynan Sylvester and it is my most played game on steam with over 1,500 hours logged into the game (some of that time I was afk). I am happy to see it come to full completion. For those of you who have been curious about the game but didn't want to buy into it because you got burned on so many failed alphas here's your Cinderella story. Tynan worked on the game nearly every day and stuck true to his word when he promised that none of the game would be hidden behind DLC paywalls or micro-transactions (like so many other game developers do nowadays). Sometimes indie games can become great.
Upon full release Tynan did up the price tag on the game. Originally $29.99 in Alpha, it is now a whopping $34.99. Some may find the price tag steep for an Indie game, but if you take a look at the reviews and read how much the common player gushes about their time spent in the game. Having a 97% Overwhelmingly Positive rating on a game with over 20,000 reviews across 5 years of development speaks for itself and I think the new price tag is justified.
That being said, check out the new trailer video that just came out earlier today. I think it gives an accurate and humorous perspective of the game.
