: "Everything in LoR—from the art to the flavor text—is canon"
Reading this, first thing that comes to mind (after Cataclysm of course omg) is how the yeti race in Legends of Runeterra was probably designed after the old Willump, because the yeti in this game look nothing like his post-VGU design. That's one inconsistency that kinda bothers me, but mainly because I love Willump's modern design much more over the traditional "snowy gorilla" yeti. :D
: Anivia will desperately need a VU of some sort once Volibear goes live with that look. It's going to be weird seeing manbear Volibear and manram Ornn, and full bird Anivia.
I don't think this is the reasoning for why she would need a VU- Having Anivia be a full bird is actually really unique for the champion roster of League, and taking that away for a more humanoid look would probably be a shame. They _could_ maybe make her look more like a legendary demi-god creature, possibly by giving her even more supernatural visual features aside from a body made of ice (thinking runic markings, another pair of wings, for example). But yeah, she does need a VU for reasons like tying her in with the Freljord aesthetic & shape language more, like her siblings have been, and the fact that her model, rig and animations are actually ancient (10 years old now).
: What should the Phase 2 of Comics be?
If I'm not wrong, Odin teased here on the Boards that he (or Narrative in general) has got big plans for Illaoi in 2020, actually. Could be that she'll have her own comics series? Also, I remember Odin saying that he already started thinking about another Freljordian comics series called "Oathfather", following Ashe's "Warmother" series. -_- Anyways! As people here have already said, a Garen comics series would be really cool, focusing on his life in Demacia following Sylas' shenanigans, with young Jarvan IV being his new king and Lux gone from Demacia. I would also really like to see that promised Tobias & Graves story where they travel to Piltover after the events of Burning Tides. Finally, I really enjoyed Ahri's updated bio and short stories and I feel like her journey of discovering the truths about her past as well as finding Ymelo (from the story, A Fair Trade) could work really nicely in a comics series.
Sukishoo (NA)
: Actually they have said those might not be the first ones seen in 2020.
Do you have a source for that? I actually remember them saying that they have yet to start on another VGU since Fiddles and Voli.

: ‘True Damage’, a new upcoming virtual band?
**Speculation:** Sounds like this is actually related to the upcoming new musical skins and the Worlds 2019 event. Could TRUE DAMAGE possibly be the name of a new band type project by Riot? Similarly to Pentakill and K/DA. EDIT: OH, I just now realized what you mean by how this is related to the new champ: https://i.redd.it/i6qzkz47kbg31.png

Thank you for taking the time to write this up, you're clearly a seasoned and passionate Malphite player! We're in a weird spot because Malphite is so old, and beloved by so many. He also comes with a LOT of baggage, which means we can't do a lot of things we'd do if we were designing a brand new Champion from scratch. Thematically there is a big disconnect between "literal mountain" and squishy burst mage that turns himself into a missile. But that's what he is to many of our players, so we have to work within those constraints. Believe me, I think it's a missed opportunity for sure! If I had my way, mega Gnar's Q should have been Malphite's Q. He should be tossing hunks of Summoner's Rift around like it's nothing because he is LITERALLY Summoner's Rift. Imagine if the entire battle took place on his shoulder or something, straight out of Final Fantasy or God of War. Alas, sometimes we've gotta work with what we've got. :D

Reav3 (NA)
: Atm we do have at least 1 non-human champ in development :)
Reav3, you're referring to an entirely new champion, right? Not a VGU, correct? Either way though, I'm excited. :D
: Probably lost his shit after he killed his daughter and doesn't really care about forgiving Demacia anymore.
Uh... Sylas is the _boy_ in Demacian Heart, not the old man from the farmstead. :P
UomoAfide (EUW)
: So we're probably getting a small cinematic Swain/Warwick style? I can get behind that
If it's not for the new champion, then it's something related to Season 2019, I guess. But I seriously hope it's for the new champ.
: New Demacian Short Story on Universe
Huh. I really like Sylas' character. Even if he has matured since the happenings of this story, I'd still be very interested to see him as our next new champion, and more importantly as the locked-away character (that is the new champ), over any other theory I've seen or thought of so far following the Roadmap. -_- ANYWAYS, to add to the excitement, the writer of Demacian Heart, Phillip Vargas, teased on Twitter that he also worked on an upcoming cinematic of sort! Source: https://twitter.com/phillip_vargas/status/1078766154968031232 Considering he worked on Demacian Heart and his previous works include many champion teasers (cinematics and short stories alike), and IF Demacian Heart is teasing our next new champion, then it's a safe guess that they're also getting a cinematic teaser/promotional material! I'm excited! :D
: In reality he's an old champ with an old model and old kit. So he's kinda over due for a VGU... including lore, personality, and looks. Personally, I'd love to see him as part of the Ursine. A spiritwalker connected to the Volibear and as a stormborn (lightning born?, Stormchild?) --basically integrate lighting and his status as berserker more into his kit, personality, lore, and model. I'm not on that project-- and it's not even slated yet (at least to my knowledge.) So just my 2 cents.
There was actually that idea someone had on the Boards, regarding an expansion on Olaf's narrative and arc, where he eventually decides to challenge the prophecy that told he'll die of age with something as extreme as going on a journey to fight Volibear himself. Or something like that. The guy who wrote that thread did it in way much better-described and more epic. I'll try to find it and link it back here. **EDIT:** Oh yes, here it is: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/irTEY275-olaf-vgu
Ætheist (NA)
: Now that Soraka has a story, who's left that needs more background?
Eeyore (EUW)
: But will it trigger like Xayah and Rakan, or like God King Darius and Garen (well, every other "interaction" in the game)? 'cause having to /taunt at each other to have a conversation _isn't the same_. (Then there's also the variable audio-levels due to the faux-3D/surround sound based on your viewport; as well as the "conversation" sounding like the two actors were recorded in isolation/their scripts being written separately.)
I _think_ that Reav3's wording is intentional and that "dialog" implies a X&R type of interaction system. :d
: Still, it could be a hell of a story
Totally agreed! :D They're both very tragic characters that could be very compelling to each other, considering their origins, had they participated in one story together.
: {{champion:83}} and {{champion:236}} first meeting, Lucian trying to kill Yorick for being undead and then realizing he means no harm, then the two of them working together to purge the Isles of their curse
Might be important to note that Yorick isn't undead. He looks a little deathly because he's been hanging around in the _deathliest_ place on Runeterra for some time now, but remember that the vial of holy water that he keeps on his neck is keeping him from getting corrupted instantly by his surroundings (similarly to Maokai, who still has holy water inside him). Thus, Yorick is still alive. Although, I'm not sure if that would make much difference on Lucian's first impression of Yorick, considering he'd possibly try to shoot away anything that lurks on the Isles anyways, just in case. Y'know, for safety purposes. _Death magic_, amirite?

: I know Demacia is heading for a major shake-up. ... oops I’ve said to much.
This could mean so many things, but there is one thing that comes to mind before others... [Chains.](https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Roadmap_5-min_ewvawswx1f9gms6lnslj.jpg) ######_That_ or Lux is getting a comic series (as hinted by Greg in [this video](https://youtu.be/4YCDQr76jUQ?t=103) )) in which Demacians will realize that there are mages among them.
: Aspect hosts are most likely functionally immortal as long as they are not killed by a higher power, like Aurelion Sol or another Aspect. This can be seen not only with Zoe but with Pantheon, ~~whose previous female host was killed by Aurelion Sol but had apparently been around for a long, long time. (She's probably the golden-armored warrior queen who took down the darkin.)~~ who had a previous female host killed by Aurelion. (The golden-armored warrior queen specifically sacrificed herself to contain Varus' corruption. She was buried alive.) Having an idea deleted is punishment enough, honestly. Aspects seem to be intrinsically linked to concepts so I don't think there is a way of killing one without also killing its celestial ideal.
> She's probably the golden-armored warrior queen who took down the darkin. Actually, according to [Varus' bio](https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/champion/varus/), the Golden Armored Queen was buried alive with the bow Varus was trapped in, by her own command, deep in the well that's in the temple of Pallas. I mean, who knows, but it doesn't sound very likely that she's the same being as the female Pantheon host, considering they both supposedly died in different lands and under different circumstances, as the stories are told. :P

: Well, one of the remaining Darkin are in Demacia.... Might have something to do with Morgana, the champion Aatrox calls out for being bound like a Darkin.

: {{champion:36}} ?
He needs much more than an Ezreal-level VGU.
QMighty (NA)
: Why do people want {{champion:16}} updated? Is it because of her lore? She's still pretty new... her VU happened in late 2012, I think, and she still looks pretty good if you ask me.
In my opinion, it's on-going game-health issues (mainly the way her W works, as mentioned before my comment), as well as the fact that her story has recently been done from scratch- She's now a Targonian (Whatever that means in her updated story) and so she could use a whole visual update to make her fit in with her Aspect buddies and the space puppy.
ChunLii (NA)
: Why Zilean? He seems strong and has unique gameplay. All he needs is minor gameplay changed and complete new visual and voice.
His kit's potential to have more depth aside, I think that Zilean doesn't live up to the unique Time Wizard fantasy, not in the way that he should at least. Plus, I agree with [Oleandervine's comment](https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/NOiVGk3b-seriously-riot-we-need-more-ezreal-tier-vgus?comment=000a00000000) in this thread.
: Seriously, Riot we need more Ezreal tier VGUs.
I'd add the following champions to your list, in no particular order: {{champion:51}} {{champion:67}} {{champion:62}} {{champion:92}} {{champion:64}} {{champion:79}} {{champion:120}} {{champion:12}} {{champion:99}} {{champion:103}} Although I would argue that the following (which are on your list), could use a full, big VGU, rather than an Ezreal-scale one: {{champion:26}} {{champion:17}} {{champion:2}} {{champion:32}}
: You guys only respond to shit that makes you money, unbelievable
What? That is a Moderator, not a Rioter. If I'm not wrong, Moderators don't get paid by Riot, but rather support the Boards and manage them with the guidelines and behavior rules in mind, by volunteering with Riot's approval.

: caitlyn lunar wrath skin splash art so ugly
I think you should separate "ugly" from "not to my personal liking". Now, if you spotted anything that either technically wrong in the splash, perhaps anatomically or lighting-wise, then sure, make a thread about it- Just don't forget to elaborate beyond _"this is ugly"_ or even beyond _"I don't like it"_. Hell, even if you think anything about the whole splash (generally) doesn't represent the skin as well as it could've, you can surely make a thread about that too, just keep in mind what I wrote in the previous paragraph. Alright?
: shaka zulu champ thoughts
Wait, what? I think... Yes? I feel like I'm missing something here.
: Yes, we have plans. :-) I can't really say anything more than that!
You probably can't answer or confirm this, but... Safely-assuming that Talon is still Noxian, do you internally have updated concept art of his canon portrayal? Because his in-game aesthetic and shape language don't match that of Noxus. I'm talking about anything similar to the concept art of [Thresh](https://lolstatic-a.akamaihd.net/frontpage/apps/prod/universe-map/en_US/8b7d14ee6fc37ebb2f42cfc0732d45f5173bf6b9/assets/src/assets/images/slides/shadow_entities_08.jpg), [Hecarim ](https://lolstatic-a.akamaihd.net/frontpage/apps/prod/universe-map/en_US/8b7d14ee6fc37ebb2f42cfc0732d45f5173bf6b9/assets/src/assets/images/slides/shadow_entities_09.jpg)or Jarvan IV (couldn't find it anymore for some reason) that appear in the map.
The Iceborn (EUNE)
: What are these? WAARGHbobo?
I actually think that these are not necessarily canon designs of any in-game items like Guardian's Orb or FQ's Claim, as theorized in other comments. Remember that the Freljord is huge and rich of history and culture, just as there were many, many iceborn warriors, of which not few wielded True Ice weapons. So, there are probably enough True Ice artifacts and weapons so these wouldn't have to be related to any of the ones that exist in the game (Be it Frozen Heart, Iceborn Gauntlet, Boneshiver or Armguard), even if there are functional or visual similarities. Just to give an example, in the recently-released story, [_The Eye in the Abyss_](https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/the-eye-in-the-abyss/), we're told of three True Ice weapons that we weren't familiar with before, both as readers _and_ players: _Thunderchild, Bloodfang_ and _Bloodclaw._

There's two of those as well, but one's an immortal dinosaur thing and the other is an elf-like lady whose power fluctuates depending on mortals' belief in her. You mean Elemental Spirits? Referring to {{champion:40}} and {{champion:54}}? Well, Malphite is in massive need of a visual, lore, and even gameplay update, so maybe he'll function like a benevolent minor deity too, akin to Janna.
There's **Janna**, but the other wind spirit that Cetri is referring to is actually **Skaarl **(Kled's mount), who is a part of the drakalops race- Incredibly fast wind spirits, similar to Skaarl, that reside in Noxian deserts and are immortal. Worth mentioning that Skaarl is considered a special drakalops (or so a Rioter once mentioned in some Kled-related thread, shortly after Kled's release).

Oh... Both IronStylus and BaconHawk have left Riot a few years ago, unfortunately. Plus, I'm pretty sure you gotta take you art piece into a Riot Support ticket and ask for the RP there, as I don't think this method works on the Boards. :P Great art nonetheless, haha! Hopefully you'll run out of RP more often and draw/post more of these. Keep on drawing, man.
: Question for the Community about a Hypothetical Rammus Rework
I think that he should get more lines, but have them be short and very... _'Rammus'_, y'know? No more than three words for the greater part of his quotes, at the very least- Things like, "Okay", "Yeah", "Alright", "Yeah, alright", "Rollin'", "I'm rollin' alright", etc. He could use more depth with his VO, though, so they'll have to execute on that nicely somehow- He could say short/minimal sentences with some narrative or contextual depth to them: "Shurima's fall was necessary, alright."
: ...I'm hoping against hope that one day I get to write a full VO script for Annie in Wonderland. [sigh] One day.

: Like Ezreal these wouldn't be VUs, they would be VgUs, in that we would do gameplay changes just smaller ones then your average VGU to bring them more in line with modern champion kits
Where do you think Corki stands in that spectrum? Will he eventually be a mini VGU or a full one?

Woah. Just... Yes. Yes to all of this post, yes.
: my only issue with a "colourful MAGE" being a chameleon is, it does not make sense. when i think of a chameleon champion I think of assassin, hiding waiting to kill, and using tongue as a weapon. Now if we try to connect it, mage and assassin are not the same (sure lb, kata, akali) are AP assassins, but are not mages. Chameleon's use their tongue to catch insects etc... but we already have a lickly lick champion, tham kench. so now we will have an issue of having 2 similar champions theme/look wise. Hiding/invisibility is a possible thing, since riot has been trying to make a mid laner with invisibility (1st lux kit, her W was a invisibility for her team if they are hit by it). but it doesnt strike as a "colourful mage" thing to hide.. few people thing/are hoping its some kind of art mage. my hope is that its a burst mage, on the lines of lux, xerath etc. who just combo you from 100 to 0. i wish its an ionian champ, and i kinda hope its female that looks amazing clothing/model wise. but at the same time i wouldnt mind a colourful male mage.
Your idea of an Artist Mage sounds really interesting and unique and would probably be something I'd really wanna play. The flowers, the colors and the shape language in the teaser make me think that it could be a really unique take on a simple archetype- Some kind of an artist at the core.
: The Hidden, Colorful New Mage - Theories?
I think someone on the Boards, among the first theories on this champ, posted one about the champion being at the very least associated with the chameleon, for its an animal known to utilize camouflage and hide by shifting the pattern of colors and shapes presented on its skins and adapting to the environment. Sounds interesting enough. The jagged mark reminds me of Bilgewater as well, especially when considering the Hawaiian vibe with how the flowers are designed. I think it was the Rioter WAAARGHbobo who once mentioned that the Serpent Isles have many "great spirits" or "gods" (like Nagakabouros) that their cultures and religions are based on- So, I thought that maybe this champion could indeed be a native to one of the Serpent Isles and possibly related to some kind of a great spirit associated with the imagery of a chameleon-like creature. Maybe.
: When Kayle gets reworked "Unmasked Kayle" will be deleted. Let's argue
I assume they're going to have it be lore-signifact- As in, maybe her helmet would symbolize one stage in her life and her being helmet-less would symbolize the previous stage, before she wore all that armor and got whatever title and responsibilities she'd have in the present. They definetly might rename it into something like "Young Kayle" and design it based on her younger look (like with Ryze and Young Ryze), while having her head uncovered. But I don't think that they'd remove it altogether.
: Another minotaur?
You know what's interesting? I'm trying to figure out where this picture takes place, very generally. I started by trying to analyze the substance the floor is made of- Seems like ice at first glance, but could be something marble-like instead. Now, marble immediately had me thinking of petricite & Demacia, which is when I noticed the aesthetics of what seems to be the bottom part of the walls in that place (top-right corner). Those aesthetics look very Demacian. But they also could be and seem a little Targonian, judging from the little we have. Plus, the chains also seem very Demacian, being golden and shaped like that--Both the chains and the surroundings strongly remind me of Galio, who is colored very similarly (marble-white and gold). I'd definitely go with a "Petricite Prison" theory, with the prison locking away a magical being of sorts (that is our upcoming new champion). ...Although I'm not quite sure that's a minotaur. {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-popcorn}} {{sticker:galio-happy}}

: Akali will probably come next PBE Cycle
Well, it could be Nunu or even the next new Champion, as Akali and/or Nunu could simply get any other kind of teaser that doesn't count for a trailer. Then again, I don't believe Riot EarthSlug would tease at something as far away from release/reveal as Nunu (even if he's not that far off). But I'm excited anyways so it doesn't matter that much to me at all. :D

Not so quick (Oops): I have never tried red velvet. But from what I've seen on the internet, it gives cakes and other sweets an awesome aesthetic. Here's a deal for ya: When I'll eventually someday have the ability to fly over and pay a visit to y'all at the Riot HQ, me and you should sit down and talk story-telling over a nice red velvet cake of any type you choose. You know, to settle this red velvet business, once and for all. Wait, do you even yay or nay about red velvet yourself? :P

I think a Rioter recently made an argument about it adding even more to her concept as a noble/high-class, probably due to common associations of the French language and culture with nobility, elegance, etc.
