: Yes, the new client is laggy as hell and even I, on a pretty decent gaming PC, have issues with its performance. I don't think that they would ever re-release the old client though. The new client has a lot of new features that would have to be implemented into the old one and we don't know if it's even possible. Also, implementing new stuff would require TWICE the work, since you would have to implement it into both, the old and the new one. I am pretty sure that Riot is aware of all the issues the new client has and does work on a solution. Also bringing back the old client with all the new features would delay fixes for the new client even more and just would not be worthwhile.

I dont think that re-releasing would be a problem since they dont do updates on the client but if they do they are not something big that requires ages of work.
