: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: September 12
Hi meddler. What are your thoughts on Muramana? It seam that they are really under performing since on one buys them except ez, but hes doing poorly. Also why aren't there more mana+AD item except for them. very few mages build tear in the meta, so why cant ADs have a morellonomicon like item to make an AD caster possible?

Id like to see some camille or ornn dev, they seam cool. But the best would be to show the ones with the coolest/ funnest prototypes
Meddler (NA)
: At present it's: IE TF Abyssal Mask Rabadon's Black Cleaver Sunfire Redemption Locket Talking about potentially swapping one of Redemption/Locket for a different (non active in part) item though.
Nothing for heavy AP? Like Morellonomicon or Ludins? Edit: Read Rabadon's as randuin's. Still more options for mages and marksmen would be nice. Lichbane perhaps?

Are you guys still planning on coming out with an updated sub-class list?

How many tanks are you guys doing? Big 4 again or more like 5 or 6?

This is really well made, I like the gas-mask instead of a mustach
Meddler (NA)
: Our thinking: * His damage is too high and will likely get a bit higher with the Lethality changes in 7.2. * Some of that's the result of him no longer needing to build mana to be effective. We're looking to both add a bit of cost back in and chip damage back as a result. Possible direction long term would be additional mana costs again.
Hi Meddler, are there any plans to buff manamune? The champions who use it seem to be a bit underproforming (Ez, mid Varus), not using it (Jayce, wich also coincided with a leap in win rate) or are just none existent (mid Varus again, Urgot?)
Meddler (NA)
: We're happy supporting Varus as an AD caster. There have been a number of times though when auto attack builds have been pretty weak but caster builds strong, meaning it hasn't been appropriate to just generally buff Varus. We're adding something specific to those auto attack builds as a result to allow us to better support both styles.
Question: Are you worried that the change to ad items combined with this new buff are going to give you the oposite problem? As in caster builds being pretty weak but auto attack builds strong? PS: I know this is an older post, but I was really wondering, since you said you think caster Varus might be to weak right now :) PSs: Hope you having a good Thanksgiving weekend :)
Meddler (NA)
: Probably won't be very relevant to caster Varus, can't see it nerfing those builds though (base is the same apart from the duration adjustments, scaling's additional to what was already there). Not certain yet what impact the AD item changes have had on caster Varus. Gut reaction is some degree of nerf, mid lane's pretty messy though at present so not leaping to conclusions.
Thanks for the clarification. I main varus adc but I often biuld him caster depending on the match up (like if they have champion I dont what to get anywhere near) Also I had an idea, to help Varus stack tear, what if the Q had a tiny mana cost on second cast so it will count twice for tear. Just an idea :)
Meddler (NA)
: We've got a buff to Varus's passive coming shortly (probably hitting PBE tomorrow) intended to increase both power and satisfaction of auto attack builds. Numbers currently in testing are a 0.5 bonus AS ratio on champion kills/assists and a 0.25 bonus AS ratio on minion/monster kills. If you've got 60% bonus AS from items then for example the champion proc will give you 70% AS (40% base +30% ratio). Both buffs also have a standardized duration of 5s (versus 6s/3s).
Is this a nerf to caster Varus who doesn't build AS (and recently had the AS active removed from ghostblade witch is core on him ) What are your thoughts on Varus mid (or Manamune/leathality Varus bot?)
Reav3 (NA)
: Yes! She is a pretty good representation of the direction we want to take with Divers in the future.
You have also mentioned in the past that you want there to be a reason to pick different diverse in different situations. Is there a particular reason to pick Camille? Or are you just trying to make the drives feel unique in play style / pattern from one another?

The way flat Armor Pen worked in LoL was a bit too extreme in both the ahead and behind case (too strong while ahead, too weak while behind), while Magic Pen is functioning pretty well in LoL's systems right now especially with the removal of Abyssal Scepter and Locket's flat effects.
You say Leathality is ment to make armor pen better from behind, but if you do the math 20 Leathality only gets to 20 pen if the enemy is level 18. So the change is a nerf for playing from behind too, wich you said was too weak. I expected the amount of pen late to be above 20 to compensate for the extra armor champions get from leveling

: At the moment, it's likely to be functionally identical regardless of champ. Minus the fact that ranged champions can pop them from afar - but that's just basic attack things.
Can you have Ivern not do an attack animation, but something else when using the plants? I think the friend of the forest wont like hurting plants anymore then he would like hurting the jungle monsters :)
Meddler (NA)
: For the healing plant there's not much worry, given the need to be next to the plant to collect the healing fruit in the first place. Vision plants are usually an out of combat thing, so concern there's pretty low too. Blast Cone does have some risk of being too ranged favorable though certainly. We think that'll probably be ok, in part given they can be useful initiation or flanking tools which is often more valuable to melee champs and because their spawn points are near brush, which cuts down on the ranged/melee discrepancy somewhat. Situations like the one you describe mean watching for ranged/melee differences will be one of the things we specifically track with Blast Cone in particular though.
Thanks for the reply :) I was also wondering how will they interact with the attack move command? Will adc mains have to pay more attention to plants in the jungle when chacing
Fearless (NA)
: Let's talk about Plants!
how do plant interact with the attack move command? can you accidentally attack one instead of a champ?
Meddler (NA)
: If plants flop and we can't find a way to make them work we'll pull them. Can understand the concerns about them so far, would really like to talk a bunch more about them as well once you folks have had a chance to see them in action on the PBE. There's quite a bit of stuff to them we think makes a lot more sense once you've seen it in game than it does when first reading about it on paper. The randomness to them for example is pretty heavily controlled: * They spawn on one of a few pre-determined possible spawn points for their type of plant, each picked to avoid abuse cases and make it fairly intuitive where you'll find them. * Their spawning timing's similarly controlled (every 90-110s sort of thing, not full random). They also won't spawn at all in some circumstances (e.g. before/during first clears for example) * There are some strict fairness controls on them to ensure they don't meaningfully favor one side of the map over the other (should get generally equal plant spawns across the two sides of the map over a period of time) They're also nowhere near as frequent, or obtrusive, as some people have worried they'll be. As a jungler you'll probably consider personally interact with a plant every minute or so. This isn't a system that'll be constantly demanding your attention, or dictating your major choices, more one you'll take advantage of occasionally. For what it's worth we've had a bunch of people visit the offices to playtest pre-season changes here over the past month or so, some of them regular players, some of them Pros. Feedback on plants has generally been pretty good, with some good suggestions for improvement as well that we've either incorporated or are working on. It's certainly a system though that we're expecting will, at a minimum, need some follow up tuning and support, and one that could need more significant changes if it doesn't work as hoped. Talking about all that should get a lot easier as well once stuff's on the PBE next week too as above. In the meantime though if there are details you'd like to know please do ask though, would love to talk about them.
Is there concern that they favor ranged champions over melee, do to them being activated on basic attacks? Like a melee champ is trying to escape in the jungle and steps on a blast cone plant, but before he can activate it the enemy adc attacks it knocking him back into the enemy team?
: NOW COMPLETE - [Q&A] Ask Ivern's Creators Anything!
Hi :) love the new champ! Two questions: 1. What class would you consider Ivern based on the class/sub-class list you guys made awhile back? 2. Are there any abilities you guys had on his kit early on that you thoght were cool/unique that you can share with us Ps. I made a fan Ivern skin:

: Wow I'm impressed. The champion isn't even out yet and there are already skin concepts. Neat idea overall though.
I really wanted to make a skin for him, since whenever there is a new champ I love to see how people re-imagine them, and see what potential they have for skins in the future.
: Necromancer Ivern that siphons souls from jungle camps? Bush can look yellow-grayish and dead, and ultimate could be similar to something depicted above.
I wanted the skin to be mostly light-hearted to match Ivern's theme and movement
: At the speed of light, Ivern skin concepts. This is a pretty cool skin with the whole wizard theme to it, and I think if the skin was purple/blue (Ryze colour) I would like it more, but that's just my opinion.
I thought of giving him blueish skin, but decided the pale skin worked better with the classic "crazy wizard with a star and moon cap" I was trying to go for
: this looks more like it should be called dungeons and dragons Ivern

: yeah I know but Riot still had to go through legal hoops to get it...just like with the other skins that are related to other companies. I just don't know how easy it is for them to do it.
I believe Alice in Wonderland is public domain

This is brilliant! Make Daisy a tea cup!!!

Polymorph turns the enemy into a sheep. Besides, I had an idea of a recall animation where Lulu grabs pix and starts sleeping on him

I like it. All around good job. The W can use some work since it seems a bit boring, maybe switch it with something more void themed. Love the passive and the shield on the Q! Hes definitely a Juggernaut, kinda like darius or illaoi.

Meddler (NA)
: Yorick will still be pretty summons heavy post update, we see that as a core of his gameplay identity. We're also aiming for fairly tanky, or at least building a number of tanky ish items, with juggernaut as the sub-class he's closest to. Thematic details, like his appearance, personality, backstory etc are things we'll talk about closer to the time. There's both some stuff still to be polished/finalzied there and that's the sort of stuff that's a big part of a major update's reveal (see Taric or Poppy for recent examples). Not sure on the music side of things sorry, not my area of expertise in the slightest.
Is there going to be a new pentakill splash?
