: FPS Dramatically decreased after 8.4 PATCH

: Power settings are unlikely. If he had decent fps before, and it changed right after the patch, it is either league or something else changed. If, like a lot of these scenarios. (I say a lot because you can easily look them up on the forums). Changes like you mentioned would be the case if the problem wasn't just in league, and if they were to install it on a new system. League is not a demanding game and does not use a lot of resources, which is why people can run it on older and not that great PCs. So I highly doubt it would be a power issue, even if I underclock and throttle my PC myself, league still runs on high frames, but with the recent patch, gets constant drops. Driver issues and such can be a possibility as with Windows update, because that has been the case in the past, but with how many do, it would be a more widespread issue. Nvidia has also had a few updates since 8.4, but the issue, at least for me, is still with just league. But there is a high correlation between players that have higher end pcs and the recent patch throttling them. In a lot of scenarios that are posted, the issue is narrowed down to just league. Most of the posts I see reporting it, do so with the specs I mentioned before. Which makes it a higher chance that the issue was with the 8.4 patch for a lot of people.
having the same problem right after downloading patch 8.4 euw, gtx 970, 144fps before, now 110-120 even on low graphics. only on LoL. surely on the riot side.

ok that their birthday is the day they were released into the fictional world, i knew that; but that, indeed, it's a fictional world ---> doesn't exist, they too

: I truly believe its this patch because I saw my fps drop from 144 to like 120 and below just when I open the ingame store, but then I can run a game like pubg in ultra settings just fine and have 100+ fps and 200+ fps in fortnite. I'm sure both these games are more demanding than league of legends. Tried looking at riot support but its pretty much a dud since they don't acknowledge its their own game that is causing fps drop.
yeah, i feel you, i'm in the same situation, i play fortnite too and it's all fine. they should optimize LoL more.

: I think he just wants a picture book. you know... "at least put an image/illustration between every paragraph so the reader can take a break while reading on."
you'd need a brain, just to start with. check out, as an example, how wizard of the coast delivers magic: the gathering Lore stories, or blizzards (100 better than this shi.t you like to lick), they put illustrations between each paragraph. that's a way to refresh the reader's eyes and make the reading more fresh. if you're an ignorant player that's not used to culture/literature and how it should be delivered, just shut up.
Jeddy017 (NA)
: Well if you have a problem with reading, then let me make a suggestion for you. There are 2 youtubers, [Necrit](https://www.youtube.com/user/Necrit94/featured) & [Targran](https://www.youtube.com/user/Targran), who make lore videos where they read over the lore. Their narrations are accompanied by background music & artwork to add to the reading. Now they both have differing styles, so you may have to watch some content from both to see which suits you better. I hope this helps.
thank you but, if they hire professional writers and what comes out is a muddy text hard to understand for everyone, implying i need the help of someone else to get a bland fantasy videogame shortstory, they failed their job and should be fired.

are you stupid yourselves? what perspicacious guys you are. it's not about listening or reading the poem. I've both listened and read it, that's not the matter, the point is that is badly written i didn't understand a thing, who did what. did you at least read my first post? of course not.
: I appreciate that Riot tries to provide lore in lots of different mediums. We've gotten videos, comics, stories, games, and I really enjoyed the addition of some written and spoken poetry as well. They switch it up every time, so the next lore might end up being something more your style.
i'd appreciate too, it's just sad they don't see the potential the Lore has and go on with some barely decent wall of text not because they want but because they must to. (or they're just bad at writing, i've read waaay better things elsewhere). it has been a lot they didn't make a new cinematic (2014), or trailer since Taliyah's and Aurelion's (they were actually pretty good and gave me shivers, but the lenght was ridicolous...) and they make comics for few champs only. i really, really loved the Kindred's illustrations too. _better ways to explain the same things. _ i suppose these mediums cost them more money than hiring unprofessional writers.

Lost R (NA)
: It's too easy and simple to just say "Because Rito", and... in a way, yes, the simplest answer is just "Because Rito". But the science behind how languages and accents develop, change and evolve is too complicated to summarize in two words and honestly has nothing to do with Riot. This applies to ANY fantasy world that takes place in more than one culture, country or even CITY. The language and accent here in California are vastly different from that of the Bible Belt, New York, the Midwest, Chicago, and so on, and that's just one country. In just about any fantasy setting, no matter where you are in the world, the language and accents are basically the same (though tabletop games like D&D and Pathfinder try to account for different languages existing in the world, they are segregated by race rather than region, with Common being the universal, native language of the players). Truth be told, most writers never consider differences in language or accent, but it's one of those rules of storytelling and immersion that everyone lets slide, along with concepts like a universal currency. Could you imagine Elder Scrolls being any fun if you had to learn an entirely different language for even minor things like shopping or quest hunting when you went to a new region, or work up a new currency because Imperial Septims are not circulated there? Of course not! It would be irritating as hell, and it's ultimately unnecessary! Riot actually separates themselves from the rest by going to some lengths to address differences in accents and even language (even if it remains inconsistent among regions; Braum is the only Freljordian with a Russian accent, for example). These things actually do help develop and define a character's personality, even if it's a very cheap tool for character development (an accent doesn't 100% define a character). A character's language, accent, choice of words and even their tone also gives insight into their personality; Gangplank uses a lot of nautical terms and evokes plenty of violent imagery, Tahm Kench probably has the widest vocabulary out of any champion (that goes away when he has a full stack of An Acquired Taste on the enemy), and Gnar is from so many eons ago that he barely even has a language (just as the _homo _genus, which we humans are members of, has been around for about 2.8 million years and the development of a proper language in _homo sapiens_ only began about 200,000-350,000 years ago.) So yes, while accents are odd and inconsistent in Runeterra, it is just best to not think about how they could conceivably exist.
interesting read this time, ty
: It's been a while since the last League Cinematic
Lost R (NA)
: 1: [History of fencing.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fencing#History) It was originally an Italian sport before it was improved by the French and thereby forever associated with them. 2: Why is Tahm Kench Cajun? Why is Kled a hillbilly? Why are Graves and Twisted Fate both pirates AND Southern? Why is Viktor Russian? Why do all the champions in between have American accents, even if most of them aren't even from this world? Where the hell is Xin Zhao from? 3: Opening up a conversation about linguistics and accents in this game will open the can of worms about the evolution of language and accent. Consider this: in Britain alone, you have a massive variety of distinct British accents; Cornish, Cockney, Northern, Yorkshire, and Birmingham just to name a few. And that's just ONE country! Scotland has its own fair share of accents as well, and both these countries are smaller than California (with Scotland being roughly twice the size of the Greater Los Angeles Area). 4: This gets into a deeper conversation about population densities and the sociopolitical circumstances under which these regional changes in language and accent occur, and even as a self-fancied linguistics expert, it's a bit too complicated for me. Consider that most of the American English language is derived from British English with Spanish, Italian, German, Latin, and Arabic as well as a few others strewn about between all of them. Don't forget that the language is still evolving; in recent decades we started adopting other foreign words into our language, like Tsunami from Japanese. Just imagine how many Japanese words we've incorporated in the past ten years alone due to the popularity of anime; tsundere was NOT common parlance (or perhaps even INVENTED) until at least the mid to late 2000s, and [now it's officially recognized as a word by Merriam-Webster.](http://www.wordcentral.com/byod/byod_browse.php?term=Ts&type=alpha) Bringing this back to League, Runeterra and specifically Valoran, we don't have much concrete detail about national censuses, population or even landmass sizes. Accents don't occur in a vacuum. They evolve over time due to many, MANY factors, including the environment, access to information about your own language (consider that READING was a rare skill until multiple European nations decided to make literacy a mandatory skill in the 16th and 17th centuries, and until then you had mini-Dark Ages where large parts of or an ENTIRE language was forgotten whenever an empire fell or a population was eradicated), relations with neighboring populations (German and Dutch are extremely similar languages, and the Japanese language and Kanji script is derived from Chinese, both languages having changed very little in the past several hundred years [much longer for China] due to their many centuries of isolation), and social/government enforcement (A radical group in post-Isolation Japan tried to keep the language pure of outside influence, and there is a committee in France today that keeps its language pure of outside influence). Basically... history itself causes language to change, even here in America. ESPECIALLY here in America. Honestly, Fiora is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many other champions that warrant the question. The best solution is to just not think about it too hard.
TL;DR: Because rito. how sad i could've saved myself time reading this wall of text.
: One thing is, Runeterrra isn't as technologically advanced as we are. It takes forever to get anywhere. The only places that regularly see each other are Noxus and Demacia. Azir has no idea what Leona is doing, and Leona has no idea what Azir is doing (well, maybe a vague idea), merely due to the fact that the world is a much larger place when there are no phones or internets or planes or even cars. I mean, before the Americas were colonized, Europe, Asia, and Africa had no idea that they even existed.
yeah, you're right Tattersall. indeed, the essence of a plot is not a mist of characters that don't know each others and never meet up for a reason, it would be a paradox. a plot, itself, is a chain of events, what LoL's lacking. i was fine with taliyah's lore, she came home against azir etc. but now: what happens next? well, we'll never know. i might take as example a famous literature book, the hunchback of notre-dame (by Victor Hugo). the '800 french writer explains what i'm saying perfectly.
: ....go back to english class kid. I don't even know what to even say to you anymore.
you ran out of arguments about the question and now you're attacking me as a person (''kid''). i said i'm not english as my motherlanguage, my english might not flawless as a foreign but surely above the average, my english teacher told me so. don't worry, i'm already studying it. however, i'm totally not interested into debating with hotheads like you, since you've been aggressive while i was polite and civil to everyone since the start. indeed, everyone else are fine to me, except you. grow up, thanks.
: I agree with your ideas of how Riot is unprofessional in the lore scene, but Blizzard isn't good either for that matter. League is just derivative in their use. League has story potential, but Riot have no interest in truly exploring it since their writers are really bad (ask anyone with a writing degree and they'll pick it apart). The question is, how do you explore League's universe or try to say something using it?
: Really would you kindly tell me how the chinese triads criminal activity connect to you again?
i'm not omniscent to know how, but would you dare to say that what happens elsewhere around in the world doesn't affect you in ANY way at all? like economics, migrations, trends etc.? if you want a less stupid example than yours, here's one nearer to me: i'm italian. in case you didn't know, during these last years a lot of people migrated from middle east countries to mine and europe. why? because of the well known war that is going on in syria against isis. now we're handling this emergency here. dude, even physics or philosophy explain it: relationship of cause and effect, dynamics, etc.
: It's true that Riot has left a few things hanging, but while the story isn't developing as quickly as I might want, Riot has said that more a lot more lore is coming, and I choose to have faith in them. And that's all we can really do, in the end. Have faith, and petition/bribe.
at least you're somebody that is understanding the real situation. i do have faith too because i love this game, but it's slowly vanishing since their words are repetitively becoming ''soon, soon, soon, soon TM'' and nothing more.
: Don't Riot have a localization team for the lore? If not Riot shoulf get on that but knowing game translater their translation is usually shit. And no,the information are not made up. Rhere is enough context in the lore and through to infer about things. Perhaps Riot could organize there lore better but that does not lower the quality of the lore. If you can't analysis a text to get it's further meaning then the problem is on you. Not every lore neads to be cheasy and spoon fed to you like blizzard does.
i'm italian, yes it has but it's superficial, and we don't have the stuff you're claiming to have here. at least not in my language. not everybody here can speak/understand english so well or being enough interested like me to check the NA board looking for leftovers of lore. how hypocrite, you claim to ''analyze'' but you didn't even read my first post. i already said i'm not a big fan of blizzard, but they way they handle/do their story contents is the way it has to be done to be successful, not riot's. If you can't get it and how, as a company, riot should equally distribuite their stuff everywhere, instead of leaving it to some random obsessive users, the problem is on you, selfish kiddo.
: Not every game lore has to have a giant grand narative. Do every event that happen in the world connect to one another?
i might agree on the first line, but not on the second. dude, everything that happens in the same world connects. just have a simple example in real life: are you really sure the wars that are/were going on in the world don't affect you, or me, or anybody else elsewhere?
: Thats the thing... its NOT a book. Its a WORLD. A book itself generally has a single story-line to follow. League Lore is more like a compilation of many small novels. The stories may be short, but put all together it creates a whole Series. Stories that can allude and reference another or even affect another.
wait, wait, wait, that's a faulty logic. just have tolkien as a big, clear example: he made up a whole thriving world, and it's cointained in a Book (or more than one, lol). it and it's stories connect, it has its reasons, it has a before and after, its characters have a solid aim and meet up for a reason (i can't blame LoL's champions' types, that's the only good thing). and, references may become annoying if they don't flow onto something.

I like the lore thus I think about it, which excites me more, and given that I don't have a close circle of gaming friends posting stuff to the boards as I do is not only enjoyable but also fosters conversation and discussion about the stuff I like and wanna talk about. Speculation in itself is fun, especially for a huge fantasy world like League, because really your imagination can run wild. League's lore has only interested me more and more as time has gone on. As I've said before Nami introduced me to the lore and got me invested, and from there I just wanted more, and being the patient sod that I am, I was, and still am, more than willing to give Riot the benefit of the doubt even when shit takes its time to come out, because I can see not only the content but the driving forces behind it. If they really didn't care this stuff wouldn't exist in the first place, y'know? Riot's never contacted me about anything other than letting me test on the pbe and the League client alpha, so when I make huge posts and see Rioters join in the discussion it fills me with joy and satisfaction. It's really humbling to have the guys who make the stuff you love come and say "Hey, good job". When Bio stickied my "Tl;DR Lore" post, It felt like I'd been handed a medal for my work. I feel like the crux of the point you're trying to make Ardore is that I shouldn't put my time and effort in to League's lore because it doesn't deserve it, given the problems it has. Well I'm gonna have to say that I WILL be putting more time in to it, I WILL continue with my commitment to the lore, I WILL continue to speculate, hypothesize and make massive sodding boards posts on lore related stuff, and I WILL enjoy it, because I always have and I don't see that stopping any time soon. League's post retcon world is one that entices and excites me, and so I will stick with it for as long as it keeps my attention. Which seems to be for a pretty long time considering recent developments. http://static2.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/1551/15516851/2941756-lfs6.png Also you're all gonna cry at how long "TL;DR Lore 2016's" gonna be. That's why your whole sticked stuff ''HOW LOL UNIVERSE IS BORN'' is stupid. because it's just exaggerated speculation i wouldn't believe in, Not Official nonetheless rioters sticked it up. Why?! (then would it become official/canon? and if yes, it wouldn't be delivered to every country and that's bad anyway). > ''I feel like the crux of the point you're trying to make Ardore is that I shouldn't put my time and effort in to League's lore because it doesn't deserve it, given the problems it has. : Why are you telling someone to restrain themselves from doing what they love? Speculation is the funnest part of any story if it doesn't get childish and claiming it as canon (darn Undertale fandom).
you undirectedly got the point. speculation is funny until it doesn't get exaggerated (like ''HOW LOL UNIVERSE IS BORN by sharjo), or claiming it as canon (since rioters sticked his post it's like making it passing as canon, and that's pathetic for a company).
: Shajro isn't the teachers pet he is just the person who translate all the information from Riot story unto text. He(you're a he right?) organized riot rather large and rich text. Riot perfect the art of less is more but unfortunately people is bad at reading and analysis. Where do you think what we learn's information come from? dude, remember that not everyone here is lucky enough to be english as motherlanguage, or live in NA. things like these are not easy to reach for everyone, and it should be riot's duty, not sharjo's, organize the informations they try to provide. half of the informations are from little stuff like trailers, comics etc. the other half is invented up by sharjo, speculations that you believe just because you actually can't, how you actually spam, ''let your imagination run wild yay..'' and, thanks for insulting me for no reason while i didn't insult anyone. you're not fighting fire. you're the only fire here, and you, as a person, has never been civil. luckly it's easy to care not of salty people like you.
