We have a chance to change things. I must say the negativity I have experienced when making this post and another on bringing more positive behaviour into league is very disappointing. if you want a "chance to change things", post it on reddit. Nobody check the official boards, especially not GD ; getting 100 people that already thought like you to take the pledge will do absolutely nothing. Anyway there's nothing disappointing at all in these results ; you just set your expectations way too high for a game infamous for it's toxicity. (Also lol "the negativity I experienced when making this post" one guy told you no and I told you competitive games are inherently toxic)

I play other online games that have lovely communities. What disappoints me is people accept it with League and similar games, rather than taking a stand.
: It's two inputs to mute somebody. The fact that you think this is a problem says a lot about you as a person.
This misses the point. I can mute someone, but that shouldn't be necessary. The basic human decencies seem to be lost, and more and more I see threatening, abusive or offensive behaviour. Yes I could ignore it, but I would prefer to take a stand and ensure that others are not negatively affected.

Most of us play League for fun, and it's so much more fun with a supportive community. Actually the vast majority of popular PvP online games have toxic communities

: Feedback reports are notoriously unreliable, and that is programmed intentionally. Tribunal is too slow for the playerbase. Best can do is suggest the lerson mute the abusive player and mute them yourself. Report post game if you feel it is warranted.
Whilst mute is an option, it's not a responsible one. Riot are responsible for the community they foster around their game. I am not be proud of the way the community behaves and I hope Riot are not either. See the link I posted below from anykey.org. we need to promote positive player behaviour, and not ignore the negatives. Maybe banning is not the right thing, but ignoring isn't either in my opinion because it's often bullying or hate speech at the end of the day, and you need to take a stand against that kind of behaviour.
: Hard disagree. I don't think anyone should be punished for what they merely type, unless the typing is excessive. I think the community needs to learn to tolerate speech they disagree with. You can mitigate toxicity with the mute button, or nullify it with mental control. Heavily restricting players on how they express themselves in chat or punishing them for what they type is -- to an extent, not the solution
For me, this is an issue. You can say what you like as long as it's not detrimental to others. Unfortunately most of what I see is offensive and/or abusive. If it was mild, that would be one thing, but it's too a horrifying extreme. I worry League is teaching people a very bad lesson, that it is yourself above all else. After all this is a team game, yet the level of co-operative talk in chat is minimal. I would suggest you read this: https://www.anykey.org/take-the-pledge/ If people would follows those guidelines for online play, League would be a far more pleasant place. I know a lot of people that play online games. They've all heard of League, but their overwhelming opinion based off what they have heard is "League is the most toxic community" and therefore they won't try the game. We can only change this from within, to then get those players to try out this game.
