I never got the chance to try it. It's a hard counter thing. You know how unfun it is for Xin before his rework against illaoi? He dash in, she ults and he dies. It's especially true when I play old xin top lane against Illaoi, there's nothing you can do against her.
Even then, they could've tried to, I suppose, "balance" it more? But then this is Rito we're talking about. If balancing in their minds is turning someone from hard-countered into the hard counter. Then fair enough I guess

: He's still vulnerable from inside and prone to CC. At least it has more counterplay than Kayle's ult.

: I think it's mostly fine, all that needs to be cleaned up are fringe cases like Illaoi where the damage doesn't originate from the champion themselves. Come to think of it I think Illaoi, along with Heimer, is the only champ in the game where she could be in melee range of Xin but her damage could originate outside of his ult.
Yeah I guess, it's just that when you expect your ult to kill and it doesn't even hurt them, it kinda becomes obvious that you're going to lose most if not all fights. You can't exactly escape it as Illaoi either.
