: Preseason Dev Update Number 3!
Most of this looks good and makes it look like next preseason will be much better than this one. My only remaining major gripe: why are we *still* forced to go into the default adaptive stat for a given champ without having the *choice* of going either AD or AP? For example, if I play malphite top I want to go AD for easier last hitting but get forced into AP. This seems to affect tanks and hybrid champions the worst as they may not build a particular damage stat and hence get stuck with the default damage type. Please let us choose a default damage type!!

While I get you're joking, making the healing from her R "true healing" actually wouldn't be such a terrible thing to do! It doesn't really feel like an ultimate once the enemy has GW.

: Venting : playing a poke / skillshot mage is fucking frustrating with everyone having mobility
It's even translating through to pro play. It's why mages with reliable damage like Ryze and Cassiopeia are becoming so popular. Mobility devalues skillshots.

: Overhauling the runes was necessary for the exact reason you just listed: It was easy and served to change nothing. While it's like day 2, it didn't take long for runes to get figured out. From around season 2 onward, there was an optimal, singular runepage for every champion. There was also little interesting about runes. The "interesting ones" (Larger energy pools, for example.) were noob traps. So you ended up into homogenized paths that were right for pretty much every champion. "Oh but-" Cheese builds don't really count either as most cheese builds weren't good beyond one match-up that almost never happened. The idea is to remove raw stat bonuses, make things based more upon the champion you pick rather than the raw statistic bonuses. Are runes good now? Naw, they need tweaking and general keystones are a bit too powerful (Looking at you electrocute) but the idea behind them in giving you runes that buff your playstyle per situation is way more interesting and easier to iterate on than raw stat bonuses.
A load or rubbish. Changing runes was not necessary and catering to newer players in this way is exactly the reason so many great games have fallen in the past (WoW I'm looking at you). Complexity does NOT turn newer players away. The reason newer players are put off the game is the toxic player base, the IP grind (which is now somewhat alleviated but could also have been alleviated by making all runes FREE) and the terrible tutorials. We've gone from a possibility of 30 rune slots to modify your base stats in some way and 30 mastery points to modify your base stats + gameplay to 6. We've reduced the amount of customization that you have over your champion by 90% but in reality it's even worse than that because you now only have the ability to modify your gameplay, the ability to customize your base stats has been phased out completely (and no, 5 armor or MR from the resolve tree doesn't count). The only way to customize your base stats is now through itemization. You have shitty itemization? (Tanks, mages I'm looking at you) Too bad! You're fucked.

: Heimerdinger Changes for 7.10 (Request for Comment)
These just look like nerfs. Heimerdinger currently has to rely on snowballing his laning phase in order to win the game since he drops off considerably late game due to how easy his turrets are to kill (one shot by almost any AoE ability or a singe crit from an ADC) but these changes are a huge nerf to his laning phase while nothing changes about his turret durability (so late game nerfs). If you want Heimer to feel viable again, you absolutely need to make his turrets more durable late game whether by increasing their health directly or by making them more like zyra plants in terms of how they get killed - it is unacceptable that such an integral part of a champion can be countered so easily.

: The game balance is not getting worse; the perception of what balance is just getting worse and worse. People continue to make uneducated post after post which causes people in the community to focus on the negativity of the game. In a lot of these scenarios, the people making the complaints aren't even bringing up reasonable comments. Players continue to complain patches after a champ has been gutted, complain that champs that have poor design are being ignored because riot doesn't love them and use nothing but their solo queue experiences as justification. The community also has a bad habit of arguing both sides of an argument. "OMG I can't kill a tank" with the next forum post complaining that a tank dies in 1.5 seconds. If you think this game has gotten to the point where it is unplayable, take a break and stop playing. You need to learn that meta does exist and there is nothing wrong with a tier 0/1/2/3/4/X existing. The important thing is that there is fair interaction between players, and while this game is by no means prefect, this still very much exists. I will continue to buy skins and contribute to this company just so they know that their are people that support their balancing decisions.
I completely disagree. There's always been broken champions and there's always been "bad metas" (black cleaver stacking I'm looking at you) but the meta always previously stabilized after a couple of patches. In particular, I always felt like I could play my favourite champions well and have a good chance of winning the game! After Season 6 and the introduction of keystone masteries, things got progressively worse from a balance point of view and I no longer feel like I can play any of my favourite champions in order to win - for the first time in League it legit feels like you need to play "meta champs" if you want to progress in rank which is very disappointing and takes the fun out of the game for me. Finally, Season 7 made things worse since the jungle was pretty stable in Season 6 but again got completely reworked removing two entire classes of junglers (AP + tank junglers) making them feel terrible to jungle with so now you must also pick a meta jungler in order to ensure your best chances at winning the game. Then finally we have the most recent lethality debacle where instead of going for a reasonably incremental change from the 0.4/0.6 formula to a 0.5/0.5 formula, Riot decided to go full retard mode and change it t 0.6/0.4 making lethality broken again at all stages of the game (except now even better late game) and we're back to having to pick AD champions again if we want a chance at winning the game. Woo \o/.

: Why? Mages don't need it. Aside from all the circle jerking Mages are actually strong, not just now, but statistically have been for quite some time.
We'll see after the next patch but I expect most mages are currently only strong because Rylais is propping them up and that their win rates are going to tank (also with the removal of AP from blue buff).
: ...You're kidding right? Since when does zhonya's suck on a bunch of mages? another defensive item would be nice, but zhonya's is core probably 80% of the time.
: deathcap and thronmail should just build into a super item lol
