I like playing aggressive supports, so pyke seems right up my alley. In addition, I love ocean horror and horror in general, and I think Pyke fulfills his theme quite well. They could make the teeth on the mask a bit thinner, but I think he's good now. He's not Jason Voorhees, he's Jack the Ripper. Jack the Ripper didn't keep his identity hidden by being upfront about what he did, he struck in the dark of night when no one was around. And frankly, I think if you have to say "no offense" you're clearly intending some sort of insult. I don't particularly care, because this discussion mostly comes down to one side saying "Pyke doesn't fulfill his fantasy," another side trying to give their opinion on why Pyke does a pretty good job, and the other side saying that Pyke sending a message of how to deal with him through his stances and animations should be ditched for a more upright serial killer and stuff. The mask is the only thing that could use some change, he looks great right now. I also like how you assume that just because I disagree with your opinions on some dark champs I'm not a fan of dark stuff. Jhin may be scary, sure, but I'm saying that taking away defining traits of a character like weapons and then having them walk up to you isn't a good way to show how scary they are. Someone with a knife is going to be scarier than someone without one. I enjoy dark stuff and am looking forward to pyke, he seems like my sort of character, so I think my opinion is just as valid as yours. Disagreement does not mean one person isn't as big a fan as you. Look, I love dark champions. I just think we can have some variety in the way they do things. Tahm Kench lures people in, Thresh is a sadistic jailer of souls, Mordekaiser is an undead emperor, and more. I think Pyke being someone who begrudgingly works with people because they're lower on his list makes for an interesting premise, and his animations do an excellent job portraying the sort of character he's meant to be. If he were a tank, he could stand up straighter, but they need to send the message that he's a squishy melee, which they do through his hunched stance. I also think that Jhin isn't the greatest champion to use as your comparison, as he has plenty of jokey lines and is frankly a little overhyped for a dark champion. He's creepy, but that doesn't mean he's a god and the gold standard of what dark champions should be. Pyke is a sympathetic character, something not a lot of darker champions have. We can see why he wants to do this and understand why he feels betrayed, but that doesn't mean it's right. He's a different sort of character in the dark themed champions, and I think he makes for a good addition to the game. If he were just revenge, he'd feel like a two dimensional character with only one defining trait. By adding some humor and his eldritch servitude to the revenge plot, he makes for a cool new dark character. If you want someone obsessed with revenge, you have Mordekaiser, who makes sure to get vengeance before he goes conquering whenever he comes back to life. Pyke has more to him than just revenge, and as a fan of dark champions I think that makes him a stronger character.

Comparing Pyke to something made 3 years ago, his model looks really lack luster. Even if Pyke isnt Very Dark or Brutal, He still doesnt even look Slightly dark or brutal he just looks Not terrifying at all. Isn't that just a bit more terrifying than a tiny man crawling at you with a goofy cartoon shark teeth mask on? But he still has to get around. Sure, he can blink with his execute and go invisible, but he has to get to his targets first. He's a much more brutal sort of killer, one who's more physical in what he does than Jhin is. Jhin is all about the art, while Pyke is more a disturbed man seemingly bound to serve eldritch creatures after death. And yeah, if we stripped away all of Pyke's weapons he wouldn't be super scary. But let's be honest, neither would Jhin. If he didn't have his shoulder cannon or his gun, it would just be a weird guy with a strange mask strutting towards me like he's some sort of peacock. Not super scary. Pyke and Jhin are still people, and most psychopaths don't just walk up to you with their weapons. Jhin doesn't wear his mask all the time, it's his performance outfit. For me, the fear behind Pyke isn't that he's some psychopathic murderer, it's that he was a man who was betrayed by his crew which led to him being turned into this. He wasn't messed up like Jhin was, he's a monster but he's still human. He's hunched, like he's slinking about in the shadows. He waits for his prey, staying out of sight (he's not walking up to people all hunched over, he's keeping a low profile so he's not noticed). Then he strikes with his harpoon, slashes tendons with a second copy of himself, and teleports for the execute. We're looking at him when he's on the job, not when he's prepping or whatever. He looks good because he's doing his job, which isn't charging someone and shanking them, but suddenly attacking you from the shadows because he can't last long in a straight-up fight. Basically, for the pose I think that while a character can be shown through stance, it also has to convey what you're playing against. Supports like Tahm Kench or Leona stand tall despite their bulk or armor because they're tanks, they have to convey that they're large and physically intimidating. Pyke hunches over and appears smaller to tell you he's a squishy assassin support. I also don't understand your thinking that leads to him not conveying a dark theme. What counts as dark if a creepy revenant serial killer doesn't deliver on that, which I feel he does? I get that the mask could be thinner, but we're looking at it from a distance. Those lines are going to be thick no matter what so people can make them out. His kit portrays his dark theme, as does his VO. I think he's dark. If you don't, you're free to think that, but that doesn't mean I can't see him as fulfilling his dark theme while still being a sympathetic character instead of the irredeemably evil Thresh and Mordekaiser.

Also. Riot promised us a brutal, dark themed champion, The point of all this is that Pyke doesn't fit THAT fantasy, he fits a different fantasy Yes 100%. But the first very dark, Clearly brutal and serious champion, this isn't it and if pyke gets released with riot thinking they NAILED that fantasy, then we will NEVER get an actual brutal and dark themed champion because they will think that Pyke fulfills that fantasy when he clearly does not. I get that most people dont play for the fantasy, they just play for the abilities and what not. But the champions i play, its not just abilities and op'ness, its about what they represent and Pyke just doesnt represent what Riot said he would

Well his knife is supposed to be a gutter's knife combined with a harpoon. It's bigger than a small knife and smaller than a massive harpoon. Maybe it looks small to you cause his model is tiny but its actually almost the size of a sword
: I think he's pretty cool right now, honestly. His mask could use some work, but his animations and everything are cool. He's not a tank, why would he be animated in a way that suggests he stares down his enemies? The drowning bit was them being ambiguous about his gender, although it was poorly worded. It means that Pyke is the one who makes them drown. And he doesn't seem to just be a crazed killer from his VO, he seems to be serving something. He's not a cartoon villain, and making his laugh "creepier" would probably push him further into that territory I think. As for the glow, he's not a ghost, he's a waterlogged corpse. He glows from the eyes to show he's undead, but it's still his body. This isn't thresh, who's completely a spirit. This is a dead guy trapped in his body. He dives into spectral waters, sure, but that's like saying Tahm Kench is a ghost for using his abyssal voyage. It's a thematic thing. He looks fine, I think, and his kit is pretty good. A list could be interesting as a mechanic, but that could easily wind up being Kindred passive 2.0.

Cause riot said that he didnt get revived by nagakeboros there is something Deeper that brought him back. Could be a whole new entity, or could just be the void cause he said he went Too Deep in his VO. Yeah, i guess you're right it might just be poorly worded but you must admit he still looks really goofy right now and doesn't serve what riot wanted which was "a very hardcore, dark" champion. I don't see that when i look at him or his animations and his vo is barely any of that too. Like Jhin for example, everything that man says and the way he moves screams that he is a crazy psychotic murderer
: 1. change the bandanna/mouth 2. add a rengar passive (or something similar) 3. change some animations (recall, Q, E, and ult is fine don't change those)

: His mask def needs to look just like the splash at least, they have 2 weeks of tweaking before it hits live. I feel like if they give themselves a month at least, they will indeed be able to adjust the visuals to make his model slightly more dark.

Yeah, they got the flesh and bones of the character all ready to go. Just need to redo his model and animations, at the Max it will take 2 months but it would make a shitty looking champion into a true menace.
