: Hmm, I'm not sure about that though. It really just complicates the ranking system, you will constantly have to keep track of how much LP you need to reach your "goal" (whether that is season rewards or whatever). Not only that, but essentially you introduce a kind of "ranked decay" for EVERY player, because as the baseline for the "top x% of players" rises, people are bumped down in rank without even playing. Meaning you could go to bed the night before the season ends and say "nice I got my gold rewards" but the next day wake up to find out that the bar for Gold V actually moved up 14LP and you no longer have it. The opposite is also true, theoretically you could just fall into diamond without even playing if the median score for diamond dropped. This isn't even considering what happens when ties occur (with millions of players you could have thousands and thousands of people with the exact same LP). For the casual ranked player that is not really a good solution in my opinion.

: Youre in a League of Legends board in a thread talking about Riot and the languages they use. If you want to talk about something thats completely beyond the scope of anything discussed in the thread, you better be sure than you mention it. I had no idea that in a League of Legends board you decided to talk about politics and international affairs of nations. And I dont see why a standard international languages cant be a previously existent one. Whats so wrong with that? Is there something inherently wrong with an existing written language that makes it unusable? Theres no point in creating an entirely new language just for communication in international affairs when there are perfectly fine ones already existing.
Because it creates a power relationship, or rather, the preexisting language gets picked based on power relationships. The US enslaves the rest of the world, which is why we're speaking English.
: This makes it sound like 50% of people will be below the average and 50% of people will be above the average. When teachers do it this way, each test has a 75% average. So the average person would get a C. In school it's ridiculous but actually now that I'm typing and thinking about it, it sounds pretty awesome for a video game system? Since right now, like 70% of people are silver and below. But wouldn't that make it so that worse players have higher rank? Or am I just thinking about this totally wrong?
I don't know about the later part, but your premise is completely wrong. In school, it's done so that the average has 75% OF THE TEST ANSWERS RIGHT, so 75 is the value of the average itself. In terms of population, none of these gives you an indication of how people are split, because a horrible result can lower the average by a lot and need a high amount of slightly better than required results in order to bring it back up, which gives you more than 50% above the line.
: I'm pretty sure the old system was abandoned because player's had a hard time feeling like they were accomplishing something when playing ranked. With the brackets, you feel good each time you advance out of a division - you can see progress much easier.
One does not prevent the other, Master and Challenger work this way.
: Nah, this system is much simpler for stuff like handing out season rewards and the simplicity of recognizing someone's rank. For example, If you say you are rank 400,000 on the leader board and someone else says I'm rank 350,000, you will know they are 50,000 spots better, but since the majority of the player base is bronze and silver, 50,000 spots might not even be a noticeable difference in skill. In contrast, the difference between the guy who is rank 30,000 and the guy who is rank 15,000 is way bigger. Also I don't see why people in lower ranks would even want this. Wouldn't you rather say "I'm Gold IV" instead of "I'm rank 217,983" or whatever the heck it would be. The tier system in place now is more satisfying as you get a "token" of your rank, instead of just a number. Especially since the number of payers adversely affected by the current system is not really important. Yeah sure you may be a little unlucky with how you win your games, but it's going to be a difference of 1 or 2 tiers, not like "I deserve challenger, but I'm plat 5 because I can't win games in the right order."
Lolwat, why would a visible, absolute score-based system prevent you from putting down tiers? Riot just decides "top x players/ y% of the playerbase goes under this name", then we're all fine. And the number of players negatively affected by the current system is EVERYONE regardless of where you are and where you could be. It's a mere matter of match quality.

If you're going to just say "this", you could at least answer without quoting the whole previous comment.

: You're relatively new to LoL, aren't you? What you're proposing is essentially the old Elo system. It was toxic as fuck. Now granted, there was more going on than Elo, but Elo helped multiply the problem. Basically, people acted like if they were 10 points higher (less than a game of rating often), that meant they were clearly superior players. You think it's bad with gold acting like assholes to silvers? Imagine that, but with a half a game difference in rating. Oh, and this was pre choose-a-role. So people would argue that their rating should give them priority pick.
The reporting system has improved since. Just educate people out of that shit.
: Thats way too hardcore/non casual friendly for me No thank you i dont play LoL 10 hours a day
How is it hardcore? I play ranked like I play normals (to get the draft without the Kong queue) and I'd be very ok with this
Puttyblo (NA)
: Even if you changed the system 99% of you would still be rotting in bronze/silver/gold lol. The "system" isn't holding you back. The only real problem this current season is the fact upper MMRS skill differential between each player is hilariously vast, and part of that is simply because there's a lot of smurfs + scripters + people that frankly just don't care. Like, I don't know why my autofilled TOP laner has to fight Dyrus, or why Dekar is my jungler, or why I have to have Tobias Fate's trash ass in my team so I end up dodging. But you know, that's the nature of the game.
Never said anyone is holding me back, I'm bad and supposed to be bad. We're talking about M A T C H Q U A L I T Y.

: Most people wouldn't like the fix. Bind mmr back to rank again and suddenly it's much harder to climb, lp clamping comes back, promo helper goes away. Basically everything Riot has done since then to try and appease the folks who said rank was too hard to climb in would be undone.
Why can't we just have a silly little number? Our literal rank?

: Look at NEWGUY101's post please, understand what I am trying to communicate to you.
I understood the first time around. Still, I don't see why I should stop.
: Why is it unfair for the common language to be English? Riot is an American company, headquartered in California, and run by primarily English-speakers. It would be weird if the common language wasnt English. Just like how I dont chastise Korean companies to do their business in primarily Korean or Russian companies to do their business primarily in Russian, an American company should freely be able to use English as their common language without judgement.
Read again, I said "international affairs". This game is a tiny detail, I'm talking about economy and politics. There should be a single international language, but it can't be a previously existent one.
: I'm pretty sure the Void is just an Lovecraft-inspired Eldritch location full of many kinds of crazy monsters (a lot of them invertebrate, or at least insectoid in nature). From the art we've seen of the Void, it even appears to be a sort of living world, similar to Phaaze from Metroid or Remina from Hellstar Remina. Lots of open gashes in the ground sporting teeth, tentacles coming from the mountains, and a weird purple light that comes from a black-ish Sun. Vel'Koz appears to be in a high class of monsters from the Void, being capable of very intelligent thought and some really weird philosophy. Cho'Gath, Kog'Maw, and others are more animalistic, and Kha'Zix and Rek'Sai are actual wild animals.
Kha'zix is not a wild animal, he can speak very correctly, much better than Kog
: If. You. The. Player. Are. Playing. The. Support. Role. The. Minion. Kills. Belong. To. The. Adc. Or. Apc. You. Are. Supporting.
So how the fick can I be both support and my own support? And why specifying that I'm not my own farm? ;-;
: Welcome to the gameplay forum, the place few people with an actual brain respect because all it takes to get 100+ upvotes is a "Why does Yasuo ult move you out of turret range" or "Why does lee kick stun you in cast time when it doesnt stun him" or w/e the boards hates this time thread that you took less than 1 minute to make.
How is it a bad thing? Those are legitimate rethorical questions. Those are things that shouldn't happen. OBVIOUSLY as long as they don't get changed we repeat them.
: So, when will we be able to have more options regarding SUMMONER'S NAME?
It's unfair for the common language to be English, but it's normal for international affairs to be dealt in a single common language.
: On _what_ operating system? Because windows and linux sure dont do that on any version i have ever used. The only way would be memorizing altcodes, and who does that?
In Europe, we have a button for à, one for è/é, and a few variable ones

Except that not. He got banned for not communicating appropriately. Which doesn't mean jack.
: That is a Lucian if I ever saw one. As I always say, though, there is no such thing as original ideas, just original views on another person's idea. Riot should probably step in, but if they do that, Blizzard should get the rights of everything. Dota was inspired by a Warcraft Mod, League is Dota's brother, and Overwatch is the successor to the Genre. Yet, I think they should go in and say "Mind changing the emote or something?" cause that's pretty carbon-copy. Let me just post this TB video who explains it best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owWM0mCh78E
The only thing Riot should pay for is the Rylai name. DotA invented a genre, and Lol is another example of the genre.

: Tracer confirmed Lesbian though
Monosexuality is a social construct
: Don't worry. Lee sin is balanced because most players from his high play-rate aren't very good at him / the game. As long as his win-rate across all elos and experience levels (combined) isn't super high, he isn't a problem. Gotta love Bronze 12! This totally isn't a double standard since all other champions are balanced around primarily (almost exclusively in some cases{{champion:98}} ) high elo and experience levels. (>_>)
Lee is actually a massive advantage for a bad players, so many oops buttons

If my support is not my farm, it belongs to my ADC? Wat. How do I even farm my own support?

I actually started using Tabis on MF right after her rework, to be able to sneak in some risky passive procs against low cc comps

: Few reasons why we aren't hitting R right now to target pro-play considerations: - Despite R being powerful in pro, any nerf we do to it will also hit normal play a good chunk as well - Updated Galio is about to hit Live and will contend with Shen's strategic space somewhat, would like to observe and figure out a better direction once we see how these two champs interact in terms of priority Given his normal play performance and priority in pro, my inclination is that we'd rather nerf Shen for pro-play by buffing the champions that are meant to deal with him over hitting him directly. (Some cool trends are in effect though, like Renekton bubbling up etc.) Thus we felt a lighter nerf on him this time around was more appropriate. The nerfs we are trying for 7.6 are aimed at his late game dueling potential, something that I believe stands to be weaker than other parts of his kit given his powerful global presence in the late game. At the same time, our PBE changes are a slight buff to his early laning, not a large one but it definitely can be meaningful in extended trades in the early game. Historically, Shen has been strategically countered by a late game duelist who could lane against him throughout the game. The nerfs on PBE are intended to push him slightly more towards that historical weakness.
Then rebuff the rest of his kit? In particular, the AP scaling on Q and give him back one on E.
: It works with crit chance how?
Exactly as much as lifesteal, it's a lifesteal based on AD instead of actual damage dealt so marksmen don't get too wrecked by tanks when they should precisely be good against them with their DPS
Limrick (NA)
: How is Warlord's still in the game when they took out Strength for being "stale"? Healing with auto attacks is actually a toxic mechanic, and as long as it involves healing and autos, it will be impossible to balance.
Which is why they're changing it to a periodic punctual healing
Sraeg2013 (EUNE)
: So it interacts with crit chance _again_? Riot sure does not learn on their mistakes.
It doesn't, it's just like lifesteal but instead of being based on actual damage dealt it's based on your AD. And just like lifesteal, crits double the amount of healing
: Warlord's turned into mastery that interacts with crit chance and movement
NO. It doesn't interact with crit any more than lifesteal does. It's absolute lifesteal, before taking into account damage reduction from any source.

Lies like that make me fucking want to mass murder. NO IT HAS NOOOOOOOOOOT BEEN ADDRESSED. No one yet told us why changes weren't made BEFORE getting this shit to live. : As much as I like my CDR, we do have a bit too much of it. I'm starting to wonder if we should just cut all CDR given by items in half.
Yes, more items with 5% CDR, then make the hard cap a soft cap (it's halved past 40) and make base cooldowns longer.
: You know what's the biggest thing causing damage creep?
I partially agree, but **don't ask questions you know the answer of**. They put CDR on Zhonya's because they were trying to specialise CDR items on utility and AP items on damage. Unfortunately, they didn't go all the way with it. There's still not enough CDR-less high AP items, the CDR-heavy ones don't have low enough AP, and there's still strong utility passives (ex. Rylai's) on items with high AP and no CDR.

: fun fact: riot once nerfed a champion in patch notes, but forgot to actually put the nerfs in the game, causing the champion to remain the exact same (OP). What followed was an outrage on the boards that he is no longer playable and he needs to be buffed again. So there's that, people like to voice their opinions on subjects they have no knowledge of, especially in this pathetic boards. note: no sources for my claim, apologies, read it a couple years ago from a rioter here
Rioter Comments
: I don't think any Aatrox mains wanted him to be reworked in to a generic "build tanky to deal mediocre damage and have mediocre healing" They plan to eventually fully rework him anyways so there was no point in this rework other than to piss off the handful of Aatrox players out there They took a weak champion and made him even weaker "oh but now they can buff him" Who cares, they could've made him stronger on this patch to at least match his previous power level, because it's pretty pathetic that you can tell that this is a flat out nerf just by reading the changes without even testing it, it's that obvious. You can tell this was rushed out as fast as possible too Look at his passive revive when Blood Rush is active It uses the fucking GA visuals to indicate he can revive, they didn't even bother to give him his own visuals like Zilean's ult Stop being a Riot apologist
There WAS a point, the point was that they're already 2 years late, they could NOT afford to wait 1 more year. They just messed up in what they actually did.
: no, he is not building like other diving fighters, this is not how Nocturne builds, this is not how Irelia builds, this is not how Jax builds, this is not how Fiora builds, this is not how Tryndamere builds. He is being forced to build as a tank with one MAYBE two damage items, he is being forced to build like a Skarner, like a Darius, like an Illaoi
: Yes, but he also has lines like: "Going to sleep means saying goodbye" and "I'm made to fight magic, but I hate it when it's not around." Or somethign along those lines. I don't have his VO right here, but he has lines like that, showing character depth and growth. He's pushing people away with his cocky attitude because he's depressed. As a depressed person myself, I recognize that he speaks the same way a lot of us do: act like nothing's wrong, push others away.
I personally just meme about my life, but even if I tried to sound happy I'd never sound like a big douche jock.

Dude, don't be hypocritical, this is in-depth analysis. The IMPACT of the character is not that. He was his own character, now he's a Zac skin. It's a definite reduction of variety
: CONGRATS!!! MM, you're one of the commanders of the boards. Thankfully, now that you've spoken, people will finally realize that there's more to galio than they decided on from his three lines of dialogue shown in his teaser. You also make good points.
