: Because everyone does. Assassins didn't like needing to wait for opportunities, so they got it. Fighters didn't like towers hindering them, so they got it. Tanks didn't like being countered, so they got it. Supports were driven insane by trying to help out ADC that couldn't CS or utilize self-preservation, so they got it to keep their ADC alive.

Somewhat true yeah. Every damage dealing champ is an assassin with a different cloak. Except true tanks and supports (and even those in some situations lol)

: I've had enough of akali's shroud bullshit.
I am for 'coolness' first before 'balance'. This is why DotA has cooler feeling characters. Mechanics have been rehashed since the beginning. People complain about it, how much can Riot do? I personally think it's a beautiful skill, fun to use (check history, I almost don't play Akali, but when I did I loved her). And you can counter it, there's plenty of AoE in this game that still hits her in the shroud. I do rather have champion diversity and uniqueness over balanced feel-same gray blobs. I think the problem goes back to damage and how much you can do in the little time frame of mid lane engagements. In a game where you die in a few seconds, assassins in general are always binary.

You twat. There's no picking off a stray adc in the bot lane. You need a 5th member regardless on what game mode you're playing. Quite not true, I only play ARAMS (check my history..) and there I see a lot more 4v5s taking place, with the 4 man team winning than I do see it in SR. Also, ARAM is heavily inclined towards better comps BUT after that, the deciding factor is whoever pokes the other team better, hence why you can win 4v5s, because you can either, have a better comp despite being outnumbered OR just by out playing them. In SR it's a lot harder because there's more to do around the map, and 4v5 is almost impossible to win. In SR you have to keep sight of where the minions are pushing, drake, baron, buffs. 3 lanes, 2 main objectives.. lots of bushes etc. So being short on one is a lot worst in SR than it is in ARAM

: We additionally nerfed his primary rush item with Righteous Glory going up in price by 150g. Made his lane less safe against certain match-ups with Bramble Vest costing 100g more in 7.19. I was tasked to investigate him further for 7.20 but gave the suggestion we hold off. As you can imagine it was a contentious proposal. But, his ban rate is dropping. His win rate certainly isn't out of line in my opinion. I'm pretty confident players will continue to find more champions to counter him as the systems favor him less. I think we definitely have levers to pull if we need to nerf him. Some of the directions I found most promising were as follows: 1. **Reduce the consistency of his crowd control chaining.** Probably would aim at an E duration nerf for this. 2. **Make his scaling less guaranteed.** He gets to uber tank status pretty easily with mostly minion Feasts. Easy-ish option would be to lower the number he can get from feasting low priority targets. 3. **Make him pay a higher cost for his damage. ** If he wants massive Feasts we could make him build more AP. This is a more dangerous direction as I personally don't think Mage Cho is a particularly compelling pattern but for someone building no offensive items he's probably doing too much damage. I'm sure we'll keep an eye on Cho'Gath in the next couple of patches and the next designer assigned may come to a different conclusion than I did. I'm not sure my reasoning will be particularly comforting for the OP but I wanted to allay any fears that we're ignoring Cho.

: I think that the Darkin lore is connected to Jax. Jax has no publicized canon since the League of Legends was removed from the lore. Jax refuses to use a "regular" weapon for some unknown reason. Perhaps it is related to the Darkin, because they take the form of animate weapons. Perhaps Jax is a hero of old who defeated the Darkin, trapped them in their own weapons, and then, seeing the evils of war, swore never to touch a weapon again. Forced to return to fighting by the Darkin's return (perhaps related to the desecration of Varus' temple), he took up a lamp post from his village as his tool of combat, and as a symbol of light against the shadow of the Darkin. Perhaps Jax is a warrior who, like Kayn, obtained a Darkin weapon but Jax managed to triumph over its temptations before it possessed him, and so Jax relinquished weapons forevermore. Perhaps Nemesis Jax shows what he would have become if he had sought to control the Darkin weapon instead - Nemesis Jax is the real Jax's greatest enemy and fear: the monster he struggled not to become... http://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/img/champion/splash/Jax_7.jpg It's possible that Darkin weapon (or pre-Darkin if the Darkin are Mordekaiser's "liches" mentioned in his lore) could be Nightfall (would require art updates), and Jax may have taken it after defeating Mordekaiser at the Immortal Bastion. Perhaps Jax guarded the weapon for centuries to prevent others who would have misused it to gain power with dire consequences. Perhaps Jax was more than mere human, or his life was extended by owning Nightfall but at the cost of his terrible duty to protect it - a duty he must have failed (perhaps the other Darkin stole it back from Jax). But it could also simply be unrelated. Perhaps Jax is the same type of being as other Darkin, but he escaped the fate of his kindred because he chose to forego warfare. Bearing the curse of his kind, he cannot use a weapon without becoming the weapon. He may seek to redeem himself by defeating his brethren, yet he must do so without weapons. These are all just my theories on the matter, but they are in part based on this official art of Jax. Notice that there is something resembling a Darkin behind him. https://lolstatic-a.akamaihd.net/game-info/1.1.9/images/champion/backdrop/bg-jax.jpg

: Some is itemisation; eg. Kat or Vlad don't build Morello even though they'd like to. Others are that the champion usually pays tradeoffs for being manaless and have strengths and weaknesses associated with it. eg. : > The infinite scaling on Kindred hasn't worked before and isn't working now, and death is not about growing stronger with each reap This is pretty opinionated. There's quite a few games where 'death' related characters gain power from killing. It makes plenty of sense to me. Death as a concept is always growing- more things are always dying and going into death's domain. > Split Lamb and Wolfs gameplay. I would disagree this makes them more omnipresent and in fact hurts the angle. Because Death would not be everywhere- it would be two places instead of one. Furthermore this doesn't make sense- Lamb and Wolf exist because Death **wants** someone by its side- them going around together matches this theme. Could Wolf have more impact? Yes, but I don't think splitting them in half and running around separately is the way to go about it.

My argument is that death breeds life. Life and Death are intertwined. How are you alive right now? You've eaten dead stuff, you constantly defecate and feed back into the earth etc etc. If we zoom in the human body, all its functions are dead chemical reaction, no agent in them, just chemical reactions, million small dead parts constituting what we call a living organism. So death is not getting stronger than life. Also, in comic books and folklore, is it ever state, or made it seem like Death, the black hooded figure with a book and a scythe, is growing in power or seeking MORE power? I have never seen that. What we see is just that, a black hooded figure, going around reaping those whose time is due.

: 1.) Maybe, but Kindred already has tools to kite the jungle and survive, not to mention some ganking and mobility tools and even win early duels. Your rework wouldn't really change that. I'm still concerned about her scaling. 2.) "Two bodies controlled by one" is the problem; chances are they would be too weak independently to effectively gank/farm on their own, particularly in early game. Lamb and Wolf would likely have half health and just as low damage for each. And League of Legends is not exactly designed for such multi-tasking. Take the Lost Vikings in Heroes of the Storm; they are a similar, micro-intensive "hero" composed of three different bodies (a speedy marksman, a large AoE, short-ranged warrior, and a disruptive tank). They are more designed for clearing/pushing lanes and soaking exp, but independently have low HP and are easily bursted (even the tankiest among them). Also, their abilities affects all three. How do you plan to factor abilities to this concept of Kindred? Make both be affected by it? 3.) If that were to be done to Wolf (relying on nothing but base stats), they have to be ludicrously good in order to counter not having any items (like how Cassiopeia gains movement speed from her passive to make do without boots). This goes against point 2, which demands that the new Kindred has to be weaker independently. And if they share items, then players would be forced dividing what items to get to ensure damage and Wolf's survivability/utility. 4.) "Random"? How so? Most of the champs reworked had good reason to be reworked (Poppy, Yorick, Ryze, etc) As for your example: That's five characters...who are practically carbon copies of each other. You're suggesting making two different entities (Wolf as a short-range/melee and Lamb as a marksman) as controllable by one. That's a different matter all together and requires a completely different perspective and outlook in designing. If anything, Rexxar from Heroes of the Storm would be a better example to use in this case.

Most of the champs reworked had good reason to be reworked (Poppy, Yorick, Ryze, etc) The random reworks I mentioned are the ones that appear out of the blue for someone not reading the dev corner. Like the Xin one, and many other who pop on the client and on YouTube clickbait "Aatrox rework" when Aatrox hasn't been reworked yet. I gave the general idea of making them into duo champ. With balancing and development time I'm sure they'd make it work... it's really not the point of the thread to discuss details, hence why I left out stats and abilities. It's more about Kindred and how Wolf is only a visual effect, and how Kindred theme of Death isn't getting through.
: Infinite stacking fits the theme of death quite well actually. Death is inevitable and inescapable, as time goes on it looms ever closer to you. In the case of a literal embodiment of death it fits well to have them become ever stronger as time goes on.

Death is inevitable and inescapable, as time goes on it looms ever closer to you. In the case of a literal embodiment of death it fits well to have them become ever stronger as time goes on. It doesn't because all death breeds into new life. All lines separating life from death are man made concepts. Living beings are made of dead chemical reactions. When animals eat each other, team death is not winning, as those animals are breeding new life. It's just energy constantly changing Now one could say that it is accepted by physicists that the entropy in the universe is increasing, so death is winning. But why are there things existing right now? I'm sure there's a bigger cycle we're still to find out.
: Honestly. Imagine if Lamb got bonuses for claiming the life of each enemy champion once per champion (similar to Rengar). No one escapes death, and a reaper character should be more about bringing death to those who seek to escape it more than choosing someone easy to kill and then trying to kill them. Then you could have Wolf scale off of a random mark system in the jungle to scale his own power. Give him gameplay elements that let him tear up jungle camps from melee range and chase down/execute low health champions. Give two easy marks in the early game and then shift to objective and enemy jungle marks as an opportunity to scale abilities later in the game. I have this really awesome vision for a dual champion that has tools to deliver sustained damage from range (Lamb) and burst/execute damage from melee range (Wolf) whose differing strengths can be increased based on the player's gameplay choices without completely abandoning the other, as with Kayn. If you want to increase your sustained damage, gank lanes and bring death to everyone on the enemy team at least once. If you want to increase your execute damage and chase potential, counterjungle and focus objectives.

Imagine if Lamb got bonuses for claiming the life of each enemy champion once per champion (similar to Rengar). No one escapes death, and a reaper character should be more about bringing death to those who seek to escape it more than choosing someone easy to kill and then trying to kill them. I'm against that because as I mentioned, death is not about growing stronger, in my point of view :p. But yes, the passive I got for both kinda enforce bringing death to those who seek to escape it (can be improved) and their other abilities could do the same. I think the "choosing someone to kill" is sorta like Ryuku with his Death Note writting names on it -- the vision people have of Miss Death and her big accounting book.

Didn't see your thread before :l you put more thought into the abilities ^_^ I like the passives and the fact that it is hard to kill them (as long as killing one gives proper rewards)

: i once had an idea of kindred being able to switch between which of lamb and wolf were "formed" with wolf getting chase bonuses and kindred getting executes, but when i tried to think of more specifics it always ended up as "jhin that can momentarily turn into warwick"

: 1.) The infinite scaling works in team play and has been a major goal of riot for designing purposes and encourages Kindred to be played as a roaming gank/control jungler. Removing it will likely just encourage everyone to play them as an ADC bot laner (which I find stupid, to begin with) and remove a big part of their late game scaling. 2.) I don't think that kind of rework can be done for LoL because it's more likely to permanently cripple this new Kindred concept you created; more bodies that can be controlled simultaneously means that aspects have to be nerfed, namely their health/sustain/damage. There's also the issue of how to itemize Kindred; I doubt Riot would just double their item set and both Lamb and Wolf would demand different item sets to be truly effective. Lastly, I can't imagine Riot even thinking of changing Kindred at all, just yet, given they are relatively new and there are many more champions in greater need of a rework (like Amumu, Singed, Mundo, Nunu, etc)

If Riot wants Kindred in the jungle then said rework would obviously give them tools to do so. > 2.) I don't think that kind of rework can be done for LoL because it's more likely to permanently cripple this new Kindred concept you created; more bodies that can be controlled simultaneously means that aspects have to be nerfed, namely their health/sustain/damage. So do nerf the other aspects... Whatever balancing would have to happen would happen ofc. Other games have such micro characters and they work. Many abilities we have now in League were unthinkable years before... it's not news ppl saying "that wouldn't work". I believe anything can work, it's a matter of making it happen if you want to. And it's not "make Kindred be two" and then they go on and just add Wolf as a playable character with his own stats, on top of everything that Lamb already is, no, there'd be some work, balancing the fact that you have two bodies to control etc. It wouldn't be a 6v5... > There's also the issue of how to itemize Kindred; I doubt Riot would just double their item set and both Lamb and Wolf would demand different item sets to be truly effective. I forgot to mention, but yeah, Wolf could skip the item buying part (and he shares Lambs boots or something) he could scale purely off base stats. > Lastly, I can't imagine Riot even thinking of changing Kindred at all, just yet, given they are relatively new and there are many more champions in greater need of a rework (like Amumu, Singed, Mundo, Nunu, etc) Yeah, just saying. But they do come up with random reworks sometimes Anyways, look an example in DotA: Meepo. It's 5 characters that you have to control, they share their HP and items only, you have your spells 5x. And the hero is not overpowered :l And yes, they can be in 5 different spots (they have an ability to TP to one another that also does AoE damage)
: Sion, Nasus and kindred's stacking are examples of "sounds good on paper". Until you actually play them and realize they're chores, they suck dick and....... are horrible to play with. You can play any other champion in their class and not have to work as hard, scale better, and have more fun lol

Until you actually play them and realize they're chores, they suck dick and....... are horrible to play with. Sion not really.. Sion gains health every non-champion kill, so it's not a chore, it's csing. Nasus I enjoy it quite a lot, and others do to. Some ppl enjoy stacking :l so I wouldn't say it's a chore

: This is the Miss Fortune that we need to see in-game. Not the over-sexualized harlot who just makes jokes about lust (since that's Eve's thing now). Miss Fortune is just as much brutal as Gangplank was, mixed with the unpredictability of a blood-thirsty killer who can hide behind a mask. Gangplank will have one hell of a battle with the redhead to take back Bilgewater, and he's pulling out all the stops to do so. Be prepared. Bilgewater is gonna get spicy.
Haven't read that new comic, but I kinda like and sympathize with Gangplank :l wish he'd go through an arc and turn around to work for a better Bilgewater c:

: CC Immunity on an assassin who bursts from stealth?
He doesn't crit anymore. I love the stalking idea but 12s wait = 5 traps and the whole team prepared
: One offs are hard because of the number of champs in the game. Skinlines make it easy to hit several champions.
: Does anyone feel like Riot...doesn't really make new skinlines anymore?
Funny I was thinking about this but with the opposite argument of "focus more on having a few well defined skinlines (like Star Guardian, Blood Moon etc)" so then we'd have more side-lore and cool sneak peaks into those other universes we like, like the PROJECT one aswell. Buuut you have your point, I like the food skinline and gandalf ryze alot
