Here's why: If you want, I can actually go in big detail on why Risk and Monopoly are bad games, especially under the aspect of modern game theory and design, or you can take the word of tens of thousands of people heavily involved in gaming. The general consensus both from boardgame hobbyists and experts in the field is that Monopoly and Risk (with the exception of Risk Legacy) aren't very good games , much worse than Mechs vs. Minions. Vanilla Risk is ranked around the 3000ish mark on Boardgamegeek and most versions of Monopoly are in the five-digit area. I enjoyed Risk Legacy, and it definitely improves a lot on classic Risk, but that doesn't automatically make it objectively better than Terraforming Mars, Scythe or Gloomhaven. Mechs vs. Minions is placed at 25. It's one of the best 25 boardgames _ever_ made. League is one of the most popular computer games of all times. A "Monopoly: Runeterra" would be the equivalent of sticking a Ferrari Logo on a Ford Fiesta. Or drawing a Nike logo on a pair of second hand Reeboks. Quality aside, both games are the polar opposite of innovative. Especially Monopoly has been relabeled so often that there's a ton of jokes based on it. Riot have made a few games now and the main titles have been innovations. I even have a Boardgame version of a MOBA (Guards of Atlantis, you should check it out). But I'd vastly prefer Riot staying on the path of doing their own thing and doing it well, than giving away the IP so others can use it badly. How long would it take until the novelty of cannons being replaced by superminions, or using essence instead of dollar bills would wear off and it turns in to "just another monopoly/risk reprint". Wouldn't you rather see a military board game based on the Noxian occupation of Ionia? Or a tactical game about surviving in the depths of Zhaun? Like you, I'd absolutely _love_ to see Riot expand Runeterra in to other games, but, as I originally stated: ...I'd prefer them to be good games.
Just to point out. this isn't just about making an IP or selling it to someone, I just want to see more out of Riot Games in terms of lore expansion, and of course new ways to play on Runeterra than just summoner's rift, howling abyss, or bandle city. I'm sure you understand that (with my previous comment about a LoL mmorpg) a lot of the player base would back a new game by Riot, and with the biggest game under their belt maybe expanding their already rich game would do wonders.
