Taliyah already has a skin in the works. Why is it every time someone suggests/likes a skin for a certain champion that has more than another champion, they instantly get bashed cause "well this guy hasn't had a skin for 2 years" I can want and like certain things just like you can like and want certain things. Riot is not gonna read my 1 comment and think "oh well we have to give her a skin now" don't worry... they are listening to your cries.

Thought I would like them, turns out I didn't.

Hey! Long time no see. For what it's worth I thought this was pretty good. And it is already a step up from your last post that I saw about the dryad. The thing about art and projects is that they're an ongoing effort, a work in progress, we can chase perfection but it's very rare to actually achieve it. The best part though is that we continue to grow and learn and get better as we keep going. It's not just about the finished product, but also about the journey, including what you've learned and gained in the process. And quite often you wind up creating something awesome like this, which might not be perfect in your or maybe other peoples' eyes, but it doesn't have to be perfect to look good. And this looks good. Anyway don't let the criticism get to you, people can be cruel sometimes, and while you certainly put a lot of yourself into the art you have made, it is still separate from you. You don't have to take it personally when people say it's missing x or y could have been done better. Criticism is just part of the journey, and your art (which is already good) will only improve even more if you keep working at it.
Thanks a lot for the kind words, the main project I was mentioning was my star guardian team project. Which was a project I was very proud of to begin with, but as half arsed criticism not really giving any details started rolling in by the masses, It made me a tiny bit sad. I know the sadness will pass and it's a part of sharing your work, people won't like it all the time, no matter how much you pour into it, that's not really what they see it for, most probably don't even know the time it takes, I can't really blame them if they don't draw themselves. Main reason I don't want to do big projects, is that I want to focus on doing quicker drawings of the things I'm bad at for faster improvement. I love making concepts, however I don't feel like I should be focusing on design improvements when I don't even have the "basics" down for female anatomy, and oh boy even worse for male. I will keep on posting regularly and the comments will keep coming, I feel like the only way to grow a stomach for "kinda shitty criticism" is just bite it in the ass and let it come, eventually I wont mind. I try to remind myself that, even though this piece didn't turn out as perfect as I wanted it to, at least I learned something! I'm slowly getting better at that, but I haven't been sharing my works for too long so sometimes it can still get to you. Thank you for coming back here to comment, means a lot that at least you two appreciate me :) I won't give up because of a bit of bad criticism, was never my intention, I will just take what I can from the criticism they gave me and try and improve on it.

: LOL I completely missed that. It's all good. Just don't forget about this crystal/spirit doe girl.
I'm sorry, I think I'm gonna kill this project for now. Recent "events" with my other project has made me very self conscious about my skills as an artist. I don't want to release bad projects, art is the only thing in life I feel like I'm good at, now with all the criticism I have gotten over the past few months I feel like I need to start focusing on getting better at it. Most of my criticism is about faces/proportions and foreshortening. I'm a very competitive person and it feels like a stab in the heart when so much is wrong with the work I'm supposed to be proud of. I will post random things if I feel like they "worthy" hoping I might get some actual good criticism, but I'm gonna stop doing projects for now. Hope you understand and I'm really sorry for wasting your time. If/when I happen to revive this project, I have saved your comments because I truly like the ideas you gave me. Sorry again.

: Alright so let's go like this, the same passive, with a marker like Annie's below her mana bar. Once it casts an ability it will gain a stack that will remain for like 7 seconds. At 4 or 5 stacks, casting another ability ill send X into "Overdrive". This will slightly change her appearance to a "darker" form. (Imagine Blight Crystal X or Bloodstone X <3) Now, this form will remain for like 10 seconds and while in it X will spend health instead of mana when casting abilities (maybe also boost her resistance because of the crystal). The abilities (heal/damage) will be boosted and the ultimate will be slightly different in each form. Also using the ultimate will consume any stacks. Also, after going into overdrive or using the ultimate it can't gain stacks for a while. What do you think?
Yea I really like that, perhaps her pure form could be more healing/support focused and her darker would be more offensive/cc focused. This is quite a unique idea that seems like a really fun gameplay mechanic. Gonna work on her dark form next. Really love what you have thought of so far keep it up! {{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}}
: Glad to see you're back. I'm glad we're moving away from the basic tree dryad into this new spirit/crystal doe girl. I like it. The drawing is amazing and the ideas too. I like the way the crystal is taking over her. So I came up with a couple things. With the first idea, let's say her tribe protects a sacred magic source or spirit forest and after the elder passed she was left in charge and they use this staff to channel their power and to communicate with the spirit world. One thing is that if she overuses the magic of the crystal it goes overdrive and consumes her. So we can make her lore or initial story about how she had to go wild to protect or save her kind and the crystal took her whole left arm. Her passive can be something like: Crystal Leech: After casting several spells in succession, the following spells will consume a portion of her health instead of mana but will also deal more damage or heal more health. Anyway, keep it up!
I actually really like the idea of casting a lot of spells would kind of send her into overdrive, maybe that could be a mechanic where she would transform after casting so many spells. Perhaps it would buff her current spells for a while when in this "overdrive" state or it would activate her ultimate, or maybe change her ult. Don't want it to be a complete change in spells tho like Nid or Jayce. A interesting concept I really like it. Perhaps that dark form I had an idea about could be that overdrive, where she goes into her dark purple crystal form. Love it!

: I highly disagree with most of what you said too varying degree. Just because you make her quadruped and with a staff,doesn't mean she will be like Heca. Look at Xayah and Rakan. Both walk on 2 legs and are the same species of Vastaya ,yet I don't think they have ever been confused for each other. Happy and Bubbly isn't really necessary for the sole personality of the character.Sure it's the most common theme for such characters ( Enchantress from Dota ) she could be positive,but also brave ,with like a ˝let's brawl˝ attitude. We could make her like emotionally clueless and confused by human costumes,but understanding to pain. What has armor to do with anything? Kha'Zix isn't literally wearing anything,yet he's far from a happy bug.Lux wears more armor than Ez,yet she's more happy go lucky than him. The lack of clothing would make sense so she's more in tune with nature. Agree that her walk animation should be different than Heca's. Every character has a unique animation.
You bring up some interesting points too valid of a discussion. There is a lot of opinions about this topic it seems, I do believe I can make her look vastly different to Hecarim. The clothing thing too, I personally think less is more with a character such as this. She is still in a very early stage with not much to go on right now but I will take everyone's opinions and critique into consideration along the way. I hope you stick around, thank you!

: They all look beautiful, I especially like 6,12,15 and 18 . Keep it up :D
: Ok, No. 1 is exactly what I was thinking about. But 4 and 17 are amazing too. God, to be honest, I love number 4. It looks cool in its simplicity and it's not overdesigned at all. The vines going around the staff and the crystal are a nice touch too. Also giving the staff a crystal can help a lot with how the kit will work and can help us a lot with the overall theme. Some anon made a really good point in the previous thread comparing her to Hecarim, Ivern, and Zyra. If you haven't go and read it, it's good. So maybe she can still be a dryad but more related to the spirit world than to just magic and plants. This also gave me an idea for one of her abilities. Remember how Soraka used to give mana to allies? Maybe she can deal damage to enemies and then recast the ability on an ally to heal them and give some increased mana regen. All the designs look great. Good job creating this many options. Let's make it happen. {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-thumbs}}
I was thinking some sort of spirit magic too, something with whisps perhaps (tree spirits), to not make her a super typical forest dryad. Oh god I miss old Soraka, any who! I am working on some different colour schemes for her character so we can paint a better picture on what she should be, perhaps that could also help with staff choice. I also read the post, that will probably be then main challenge with this character, to make her very distinct from others. I thank you for taking a interest in my little project and helping me with ideas!
CoffeeMug (EUNE)
: I think there's enough room for having more plant based abilities in the game. Maokai and Ivern are both trees,them and Zyra already have roots as animation,but that doesn't mean we cant have another. If you decide on a support there are a lot of abilities that still haven't made their way into kits ( ally cleanses, a supp with a stealth ability, fear/ground/sleep/ suppression ). GL
I do want to try something new with her for sure, will remember what you said :) still a long way till i will design abilities. Thank you!

A Nunu (NA)
: Some constructive criticism from one artist to another below: If you are creating the champion as if you were presenting it to the company, consider the following: When creating, updating, or even making skins for champions, Riot has an extremely strong emphasis on how immediately distinguishable, and recognizable each individual product that is playable on the Rift is. Any champion with the exact same body + weapon type archetype (Hecarim is a quadruped with a staff-based weapon) without anything vastly different to set the character apart from other champions other than colour will run into problems. This can be fixed by perhaps changing the weapon type, exaggerating characteristics of a champion massively (for example, Poppy's massive pigtails or every "standard pretty girl's" different postures and walk animations.) The only way I see this champion being in-game would be if (at the very minimum) her walk animations were EXTREMELY different than Hecarims, such as a very bouncy prance/gallop for a walking animation. ANY kind of animation that seems even a little more uniform or calm will come off to be too close to home for Hecarim. Despite your opinion against the overly happy and bubbly dryad archetype, this character archetype would be absolutely necessary for the type of attire and general look you've given to this character if you want to keep her to look the same, as her design really sends the message that that character is the happy and bubbly type (light clothing and armor). If you're looking to change it in order to enable the champion to fit into the game better, and still want to leave the whole bubbly, happy character thing behind, I'd suggest maybe heavily redesigning her to look more streamlined, like a hunter or someone constantly in some kind of pursuit (could give them the same type of prance/gallop, but with just a little spice of confidence added). You could also make her walk animation just be her levitating above the ground with some kind of magic. To fit that, perhaps make her seem more of a powerful, intelligent or leaderly figure (as levitating above someone else is usually used as an indication of such things), change her look to make her seem more like someone with more magical powers, like making her eyes glow bright green, or making her outfit look more plant-y. Welp, I've said what I needed to say. Hope this helps. http://www.auplod.com/u/aludpoa5f72.png
Yea, I was thinking about the running animations, It will surely have to be some form of happy dryad jump. I am also dropping the spear idea and making it a staff instead. At the start of designing the look of her, I did consider going down the path of a more confident hunter but decided against. My current vision is in the lines with what another commenter described below: A shy personality but still with a sense of a bubbly/happy, maybe even protective personality, curious yet careful. Let me know what you think! I will be at some point making a silhouette of Hecarim and this character side by side, people can see if it's too close to each other and give their 2 cents on how it should look if they don't like it. About the skins, yea I need to think of something that will really stand out. You should check back later when I get more work done and establish the character a bit more, would love to know your thoughts on it then! Thank you very much for your criticism and points that I should follow, I will look through this post a lot as I go along. Really like what you have said, well written!

RawGreen (NA)
: Things I want to tell you first before I give you my thorough advice. * While **Ivern** doesn't fit the visual stereotype of a Dyrad he's actually pretty spot on with his visual themes but not his kit. * **Zyra** is thematically for the most part what most people probably think of when they read the description of a Dyrad _but she's never mentioned to be and is in fact a different creature entirely_. * **Hecarim** is currently the only centaur champion in the game. With those in mind here's what I want to tell you; In order to make a solid working design for this character you should consider taking inspiration from **Ivern** but avoid any resemblance to **Zyra**. This might also exclude plants from being used for her abilities to keep visual distinction available where it would otherwise be difficult( skirmishes and teamfights ). _Rather than nature magic for this perhaps something like soul magic, pure magic, or cleansing magic can help you light up ideas?_ A distinct Silhouette is very important for a champion to have, being able to determine which champion you've seen at a mere glance without confusing it with another champion is one of the keys to having a unique character. I do have to bring up **Hecarim** because if you look at his silhouette it is very distinct and would be hard to replicate even if you wanted to. _And while this could be interpreted as having completely **free rein** in designing your character it is still important to make sure the silhouette is easy to understand at a glance, but not so simple as to be uninteresting to look at._ Also consider that perhaps a cliche Dyrad doesn't fit the League Of Legends universe, you have the potential to dispose or incorporate traditional ideas of what the Dyrad is and even create new rules for your character design. That's not to say that the possibilities are limitless, rather you want to establish the limits of your design as soon as possible in order to push your designs to those limits. _After all, without limits nothing can be pushed to the limit._ I'll bookmark this thread to check back later, and perhaps when there's time I can sketch up some ideas too. I hope you continue to work on this.
Hey! Thank you for this post, brings up a lot of very good points on how I should go about this and what to keep in mind. A lot of good ideas for her magic that I really like, was also thinking about just flat out banning flowers, don't think it suits dryads 100% and would kind of destroy her identity, as it could easily clash with Zyras. You wrote a lot things I will need to keep in mind when designing this champion, that I didn't fully realise. Thank you again for taking the time, I will be looking through this post a lot as I go.
CoffeeMug (EUNE)
: Wow,the drawing skill are pretty good.The staffs are awesome. I would love for her to be a support,who focuses on healing. Maybe she could place flowers/plants of some sort that heal allies around them? Maybe a single target over time heal? Hope RITO does a dryad concept in the future.
She will definitely do something with nature, will more likely be trees though as plant is kinda Zyras theme. Not sure, maybe it could work but I'm treading on very careful ground here as to not step into other champions themes, as you could relate her to a lot of other champions... but then again I haven't done colours yet and that does a lot for a character, these are just ideas as of now. Her kit is in my mind surely shaping up to be very unique. Hopefully lol
: I have an idea, what if her W healed an ally champion, but it cost some of her own health to do so? And her E casts a circle that silences everyone inside?
: I like this. Since it will be a dryad, make it shy and naive (not used to humans or other creatures overall, this could make for cool interactions), stuttering a lot while attacking and using abilities. Will it be a different species or a vastaya? Make its hair long with braids and flowers and shit. Maker her staff look old and mossy, twisted at the top with a crystal floating in the middle. Also, the staff can have handmade stuff hanging from it like dreamcatchers and stuff. Also, no panties because you're giving the idea that there's something that shouldn't be there. Let's not make it old (mature), more like a teenager or something To keep it linked to the original ideas, make one its abilities something like: Ex: Passive: Spiritual Bond. X right clicks on a nearby ally and links to it. The ally abilities use half of X's mana and transfer 20/24/28/30% of the damage they receive to X. Ex: E) Nature's Bounty: -X throws a seed to a target location. If it hits an enemy it will explode slowing them. If it hits the ground and isn't stomped (also detonates it), after a brief delay, a tree grows blessing the area around it (1200??). -While in the zone, X gains additional mana and health regen (when below a threshold), this also applies half of the regen to the ally X is linked to. -X other abilities can be affected by the tree. -The tree has 3 points of life and remains for 2 minutes. -X can carry one seed. Planting it destroys any active tree.
Hah about the pantie thing, that's the white patch of fur on her belly, sorry hard to see when it isn't coloured ^^ Probably should just have left that out. I really like the personality traits and think they would suit very well with my vision. To be bluntly honest I don't know much about league lore, will have to read some of that up when I get further into "development" with this character. I will for sure do something with the bonding mechanic, and I think yea, a staff is probably the way to go for this champion, a bow could be cool for a support but I'm not really sure, a spear is too obvious so a staff is a good choice. Working on giving some basic colour and life to one of the designs for her, feel free to come back and give me some feedback on that too :)
: Also people tend to think of nature spirits as benevolent, but in some cases people think of them as vengeful, like doing things to protect the place they call home or doing things to punish people who trample or harm that place. So depending on what direction you took (like if you focused on the bond to an area or to a person) you could get an effect that grants her some kind of boon for attacking enemies who trample her area or who damage the ally she binds to. As for having an ally to bond to, you would probably want that to be a passive effect so that it didn't take up an ability slot, then give her an active ability that she could use to meld or un-meld with her bonded partner. You would probably have to make it so that they share health-bars in order to balance it, so she would take the same damage they do. Also if she just melds with an ally and then doesn't get to do anything it would be boring, so you will want to either make her abilities cast-able or give her alternate abilities to use while melded with an ally. There is potential for having her ultimate be the meld effect, and making her into a new kind of transforming champion but there are also problems with that direction inherent to transforming champions that would have to be addressed. I've done a fair bit now with it, now you try :)
Thank you for the ideas will definitely try some of that when designing her kit. As for now I wanna focus on getting her physical representation in check, I do wan't her to look very different to typical WoW Dryads. I believe a lot of that will come down to outfit, as I really don't want to remove the main thing, that made me wanna make this champion, half human half deer. I'm gonna give my favourite design some colours and post a little update, would love to know what you think, if the physical aspect of character design is something you are interested in. Loved your input thank you so much :)
: Well lets go into the mythos of dryads then, shall we? According to greek mythology they are "tree nymphs" or "tree spirits" who make their home in a tree, remaining bound to it and living in and around it. So ideally you may want a character with a theme of being bound to a place, and having a love of plants and nature. Riot has already done this (Ivern) and the centaur theme (Hecarim), so you're going to have to take a slightly different direction if you want something that is has as good a chance as possible of being picked up by Riot. Some ways to make them bound to something: An ability that allows them to become more entrenched in an area, gaining advantages in that area and disadvantages while out of it. Kind of like how Illaoi can set up tenatacles to become part of something. Dryads/Druids can supposedly pass through trees and plants, so perhaps an ability that allows them to blink or dash to nearby brush or walls could be interesting. Also if you want to go with a concept/mechanic that already has popularity in the community you could borrow from the idea of a character that can bind to and share a body with an ally. Sort of a "lost the forest she was bound to so now she haunts people she meets" kind of theme. Another ability that might work is something based off of the "entangle" type spells from tabletop roleplaying games. Imagine placing vines or brambles in an area and causing that area to slow enemies who pass through it. That's all I've got off the top of my head, hit me up if you want to discuss further.
Yea I did do a bit of googling on the whole Greek mythology where I got some ideas of what she could be named based off what tree the spirit lives in (something like that), it could also help shape the character look wise. I actually really like the ideas you have for her abilities and the insight you are giving. Would love to discuss further
: This will never happen, too similar to Hecarim and Lunara from HotS https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xdGGO
I do feel like my vision has some vastly different characteristics but I guess we will see in the end. That however is like saying kai'sa is a shit champ because she looks like 90% of other female champions, We have very few female champions that differ from your standard hot chick, and I thought a innocent Dryad might be a possibility. This is why I have asked for ideas, you got something that will differ her more? Just because another game has a half deer half night-elf, Doesn't mean Riot can't take inspiration from it and make it their own. Is nami a Naga then? Soraka a Draenei? No of course not because Riot took ideas and make it their own, not saying they got inspiration from those certain creatures in WoW but that is what artists do. They get inspiration.

Not to mention the PAX skins too. My point is that the Twitch concept is not that far from what they have already done and would be a strategic decision.
And they have stopped doing every single one of these, they needed them back then when they weren't so big. as of now I really don't think they need this sort of "strategic decision" to be made.
