: Well we have a Demacia Novella that was discussed at the start of the year. Chances are, that'll be the bridge that we're currently missing.
zounet (EUW)
: no because in "for demacia" she has her stick. so it takes place after the comic
Yeah, but the ending means that the comic wasn't able to link its own story with the "current" state of things in Demacia. We still have a gap in the story that still need to be filled. Hence why Jhonny questions about the confusion brought up by "For Demacia".

: What's also catchy are the names of all these accounts that you're coming up with. Adder, like a sneaky snake. But you can't sneak around us. We know. {{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}}
Hold your horses. Look at the profile. This person is at least capable of writing in coherent english, i don't think it's a Xano alt account.
: Maybe when they upgrade their client like they said cuz then patching would be faster and maybe that is the reason they havent included them yet That or it is just more complicated than it seems (or they are just lazy)
They don't even have to do that. The technology already exist, since you could always switch to the event specific announcer back to the normal one in the sound options.
: I can see the meme behind Ahri and Kai'Sa, but until now, nothing happened that warrants Qiyana as a meme.
Rumor is that she's gonna be another skin-bait champion. We'll have to see.
: Never heard of Xano.
It's the person that kept spamming the "Wukong X Ahri" ship on the boards. Guess they found another thing to annoy us all with.
: > Garen and taric is hinted in taric's lore, but you choose to ignore it I guess. Fuck off. I'm not the one who popped into a thread on ships, saw Garen x Taric, told the person that they were wrong and "corrected" them. > And the hints you talked about are not very clear also, you said it's strongly implied, but they are only fanon jokes in game, not even in the lore. 1) The cinematic arena fights aren't canon events either. 2) Lore is regularly established by the in-game lines. This has been done repeatedly throughout League's lifespan. > garen and taric hint in the lore is quite obvious in taric's lore. No it's not. That the two know each other is obvious but that doesn't make them romantically interested in one another. >garen and katarina are meant to be competitors, they are both damage dealers, warrior and assasin, they do not match up at all. Garen is a tank/fighter. Kat is a mage/assassin. These two archetypes fit together into a comp fine, not that their gameplay will necessary reflect their roles in the lore. >But the players want to ship them because in game play, as not much people play support like taric. There are many reasons people ship these two. Kat and Garen would be a classic Romeo and Juliet tale. They're both devoted to their home nations above everything else and embody the ideals that their nations strive for. When the Journal of Justice was still canon the two interacted regularly, and Garen's old lore consisted almost entirely of his interactions with the Sinister Blade. >quotes are fanon No they're not, that's stupid. Fans don't write the quotes, Riot does.

: *Game starts demanding more and more of my money* Welp, I'm not buying any more RP for a long time. I don't mind if it's stuff that's not pay-walled, or the occasional thing that's pay-walled. But now that Riot is shitting out mission passes, prestige skins, and little legends, this seems too cash grab-y. I can and will happily shell out $10~20 every month or two to support my favorite game and grab some goodies, but for the love of good, calm down on all these RP only releases. They're steadily becoming more like EA, tbh.
The only time i've purchased Riot Points these last years was when Dark Star Karma was announced

: Considering how some of the Ascendeds/Darkins acted in Twlight of the Gods i think it's safe to assume that some of them might have not been the perfect paladins of virtue that Shurima probably depicted them to be.
Plus, the trauma of fighting the Void and the loss of the Emperor must have contributed to their downfall.

: Alright, so I really like Pantheon's new lore but I feel like we really need clarification on Targon
Ok, that's a lot of questions. Let's see if we can answer at least some of them using what we know about the lore. 1) Targon's objective is still unknown, they don't seem exactly the benevolent kind of beings but they don't really want to see Runeterra die as well. It's enitrely possible that Aspects are actually linked to the planet or more simply they just don't like the idea of seeing their home being consumed by an interdimensional force of nothingness. 2) Imo, design decision about not wanting to put too much on a single character and risk detracting from the champion itself. Diana, Leona and Pantheon weren't slated for an update back then and updating a VO is no easy task so i guess they kept this same reasoning for Taric and Zoe, trying to avoid having both of them feeling too different from the already existing Targon champions. 3) Unclear, perhaps they are not completely physical and are partially or completely beings from the spirit realm. So in order to operate in the material realm they might need some sort of focus to concentrate their powers, in this case a human body. 4) I might remember wrong but i think the leash on Aurelion's Crown is not held by a singular aspect and that more than one keep command on it, though this may be rewritten in the future. Regarding a possible agreement between Atreus and Aurelion... it's hard to say; i'm pretty sure Sol wouldn't be sad knowing that Pantheon died, he despises Targonians with all his being but i don't know what he might think of this new Human Pantheon. He might be wary but not necessarily hostile. Again, it's hard to say.
: Every heard of a magical thing called a content update? Ixaocan could easily be equated to when the Dawn Guard was added to Skyrim because it's just a brand new place with brand new concepts added into the game
: Morde's realm reminds me more of the Greek Asphodel and I typically refer to it as such. I would think there are varying afterlives based on beliefs... I think it was Scathlocke who hinted that that might be the case. Certainly a concept worth entertaining; perhaps the people of Lokfar have a sort of Valhalla, and the Buhru go to a place where they prepare to be reborn, for instance.
But it's weird, since Morde's first death when he still was Sahn Uzal seems to invalidate this idea.
: I Nominate Jhin For The Next Ultimate Skin
Jhin would probably sell like candy but personally i wouldn't really be surprised if we saw an Ultimate Janna skin
: It is programmed to do it for keys though so changing it to function the same for event tokens should be an easy thing to do.

The only thing telling here is people somehow only brings out "could just leave things like that out of the game" when we're on the topic of gay characters. > You're only using the Varus's example as an ammunition shot at gay characters, not because you actually care about Varus's rewrite being a bad rewrite on the basis of discontinuing the established thematic of the original story, but because you want to take aim at gay characters in fiction and you have this 1 example so you gotta make the most out of it. That's what I said tho? It just feels wrong and random. There is no problem if you give new champions like Neeko that characteristic from the beginning, but don't just take a random champion and make him gay from one day to another because "lul muh LGBT". > There is no reason to leave sexuality out. That's entirely on the call of the writer on whether they think it is a good idea on the basis of storytelling. Just like a writer can leave out the part that Taliyah likes ice cream and we can probably have threads that try to guess what's her favourite food, but the writer does wrote that in and it's no big deal. And just deciding from one day to another that a character is gay without any indications on that is bad storytelling. The whole League lore is a giant shitfest anyway where things just get changed and revised, and the whole LGBT train made it even worse, because now suddenly sexuality is a important topic even if it never has been at all apart from fan theories. > Old Varus had no reason to be straight since he could be a gay couple and his story would still be identical, but he was; Illaoi has no reason to tell others that she's extremely sexually active, but she does; Evelynn has no real reason to include the part that she seduces both men and women (with the sole exception of children who can not understand sexuality) and doesn't even actually have sex with her victims so much as just draining them; but she does have that part completely explained; etc etc. None of them have real reasons to be there, but they are, and we don't really give much shit beyond "oh hey, cool details" either. Thing is that sexuality was never one of Varus thematics at all, so why does it have to be now? There were no indications on him being gay at all, maybe he was, maybe not, but it's a thing that shouldn't even be thematized on him at all if you don't do it from the beginning, or at least slowly, because it just comes off random if you do it like that and is shitty storytelling. No dude will ever fuck him as hard as Riot did because they basically made his whole thematic and identity a giant shitfest. What is he even now? **Varus**, _the Arrow of Retribution_, the Darkin who seeks vengeance while having two gay dudes in him btw. His sexuality now overshadows his whole thematic that has nothing to do with it at all, GG Riot. It's completely different from champions like Eve that are designed like that from the beginning with sexuality as a important part of their character design.
Heck i would argue that is not even the theme of sexual orientation, imagine if Varus was formed by a het couple. It would still feel so random and weird, because you are literally adding 2 other characters on top of the already existing champion, calling it a day and not even caring about updating the voice-over to reflect the change.

Ah, forgot to also mention Pyke's login screen. Very fitting for his character.
: Two sisters and a wolf [Lore theory about Jinx, Vi, and Warwick]
I've never been a fan of Jinx and Vi being sisters during the days of old lore tbh, but seeing how the new writing seems to be doing a better job building up a connection between the two i think i can get behind that. Now... Warwick. I read the updated Vi lore in a hurry but your theory looks pretty solid in this regard, it would probably give the character a really nice backstory and an interesting point of view on the tragedy of his lost memories. Overall, seems possible, i can't really see anything contradicting this theory of yours at the moment.

: Scathlocke stepped in to give his own perspective on villains and moral ambiguity i think (it was during the period of Kayle and Morgana relaunch if i'm correct), all fine and dandy (he had his own opinion and some people weren't agreeing with him) until, to prove his point, he asked the question "Is Darth Vader really a bad guy?". : tl:dr Poppy breaks a forced narative by the writing staff that has tried to make Damacia a morally grey state but only succeeded in making it essentially the evil state. The writers are immature and dedicated to grinding their fancition into reality no matter the damage it will cause. God, don't get me started. But let's get fucking started. Poppy is a massive walking (literally, as an explorer) plothole in nu-Damacia and it's magic racism. She's been around since the early foundations of the nation, so a long time. She personally acquainted herself with a human leader and essentially served under Damacian ranks for supposedly decades before spending HUNDREDS of years looking for the Hero of her hammer. During this time she built a reputation of an unseen protector, killing monsters and the like in her quest. We also know that she tried and failed several times in giving her hammer away. So lets assume glamour is really that good, and through centuries nobody in the Damacian government has thought "hm, maybe we should check out these stories of some seemingly normal person doing extraordinary feats?" Maybe they did, but thought better of it and decided to instead kill more starving farmers. It's perfectly acceptable to assume she is too naive to notice the political landscape change around her to a more tyrannical one, but to assume she NEVER interacted with someone and let it slip that she's not some human? Even Tristana had no idea what glamour was and was exposed before killing her attackers. Poppy interacts with people on the regular, walking freely through towns. She's supposed to be naive but not stupid, so we can only assume she walks into bars and barracks looking for heroes and talks it up with the locals. She loves the country after all, she's not bumming it up in the woods like some witch, she is actively looking throughout the country for her hero. "I'm no Hero, just a **_YORDLE_** with a hammer" She is the Yordle the MOST likely to let slip her heritage, and she is the MOST exposed to the very people who would hunt her down. And you're telling me she had NEVER given away that kind of information or that nobody has EVER gone in to investigate her? Bullshit. In her comic, which is presumably canon, she one shots a literal walking mountain in front of potentially hundreds if not thousands of witnesses, and I guess nobody decides to look into that? Come on. What's really going on is that Riot's massive throbbing hard-on for "no true good, no true evil" mentalities is destroying and complicating existing lore. The fact that the writing is garbage does not help. Poppy's lore is a gem of innocence and inspiration, marred by the forced narrative of Riot's uptight writing staff. No Riot, I will _NEVER_ forget the Darth Vader thread, those posts say everything I will ever need to know. And I know it's hard to write a consistent narrative over so many separate champion stories, but this isn't that. This is writer's greed demanding their own story rather than what works best or even makes fucking sense. It doesn't work that the magic racist state essentially worships a literal magic angel. You can't say that said angel is supposed to be a paragon of justice when she's a genocidal maniac with daddy issues. You can't say a giant magic statue is common knowledge for the populace and is completely accepted as a protector when the true nature of Petrecite SHOULD be known by the higher ups of the state. Get that? Unless they are the most incompetent parliament ever devised, the Damacian government KNOWS that Galio is a walking entity of absorbed magic, but they're just ok with that? They are willing to MURDER their own citizens because they are using magic to keep themselves from starving to death but don't seem to question an actual dragon woman holding established rank in their military? The reason I am so upset about this is that Damacia was my favorite place in Runeterra. Was, when it was about the ideals of justice and fairness. There was a really good run of lore until you had to change it to fit your loreboy Sylas. Now they are obviously, so _laughably_ the bad guys. Deeper cracks in the justice system of Demacia would have been your way to show that not all things are as glamorous as they seem. That's fine, in fact I encourage some subversion for the sake of a good story. But it's not a good story, its a garbled mess forced into the old country we loved in order to get your literary rocks off. Hilariously evil Damacia magic racism is not compelling, it's not interesting or thought provoking. You tried to hard, and now it just reeks tryhard. I wrote less edgy moralities when I was a teenager. It is again, forced, and it is ruining what little credibility both the story and you as writers have left. Poppy is just the perfect icing on the cake exposing how messed up it all really is. Bless the Mord writer for not forcing some sympathetic side to the character, keeper him evil just to be evil. He even had the balls to come here and defend his narrative decisions with arguments rooted in the core ideals of the character without needlessly stepping on toes. Can't wait to see what mess they'll make of Shyv and J4 as they continually update lore and progress with this civil war.
> No Riot, I will NEVER forget the Darth Vader thread, those posts say everything I will ever need to know. Oh boy, why did you have to remind me that Darth Vader example?

: That is because every piece of lore we got was about around 7-8 years ago. Talon was not present until Katarina failed her mission and a little bit after it. And as much as I hate to admit, it would make sense for him to not be known by anyone. The perfect assassin.
This would actually be an interesting meta-narrative if it were to be true.
Lewanor (NA)
: It would be really bad because some of the concerns I heard from Talon fans was them waiting for Talon to move out of General's shadow. I would be on board with a legendary skin that is General for Talon, but completely removing Talon is not acceptable. Still, I thought of this and believe me, there are a lot worse things that is possible. I love both Talon and General with so little they have in so many years but combining into two wouldn't be a good choice. It would be a bold move by the Narrative team, I'll give them that though
Yeah, i can understand why Talon mains may have a problem with this theory. Though it wouldn't be exactly new for Riot to completely erase a character after an update.

(I should point out that this is wild speculation on my behalf, so be warned) Seeing as we got so little of Talon's own story, and since he's been apparently left out from the overall noxian narrative, do you think is possible that Riot might be wanting to turn General Du Couteau into the (future) updated Talon?
I'm probably reading too much into this, but it seems really weird that we currently have not a single piece of newer lore about Talon after several Noxus updates.
