And what is he now? All his power is put into his Q, which was possible to hit people with due to E, and that has now been lowered to 1 charge instead of 2. Downright thrash and impossible to balance is what he is currently. Also, all the modenization in Irelia's kit has been removed now. She's back to being a dashing auto attacker with a bit of CC. The only difference now is that she traded her true damage for magic damage and attack speed, and her tenacity is now in the form of physical damage reduction.

Getting off double Q is easy, but if your claim is that it won't happen because your target is surrounded by the enemy team, then do you honestly believe that 1 QSS when building 0 defensive items will save you? Because if you want to get even remotely close to one shotting a squishy with Q+E+W alone, you need old {{item:3147}}, pre-nerfed {{item:3095}} and at least 2 levels advantage. Currently you can delete someone at around 60%-70% hp with Q+E+W, if they have no defensives and you're full AD.

For him to have true damage, you need to have true damage yourself.

Such an uneducated respond. Do you have any idea how Rengar works at all? QSS+heal is a choice which costs a significant amount of burst damage. Burst damage that you likely need in order to eliminate someone.

I feel like we need to move beyond the point of the oneshot here. The point was that Kha'zix has an escape after an assassination attempt, even if he doesn't make the kill, as his ult allows him to sneak away even without being evolved. Rengar dies, straight up.

That is because Rengar is not an assassin. Becoming tanky or dealing burst damage is a choice for Rengar, he can't do both at the same time. Sure if he saves both W's for survivability he can shrug off a lot of damage, but go ahead and post me 1 video clip of a Rengar that one shots someone with only base Q and E without being 5 levels ahead. Should he instead sacrifice his W for damage and to gain 4 ferocity, he's still not in a position where he'll one shot anyone, but now has the choice to do so with an empowered Q. Also, where is the escape on Rengar that Kha'zix has?

It's that Rengar and Eve actually grants you a warning that you're about to be eaten. The others just make it happen. Why is Rengar a special case when Kayn comes out of a wall with 700 ms, Kha'zix runs at you with true stealth and resetable leaps or LeBlanc points and clicks you down from range. But not only do the latter just one shot you, they can also escape the fight straight after (besides Kayn and Shaco). What is the counter to Zed's 2-hit one shot R, Fizz' shark, Kayn's AoE burst, Kha'zix' uptime and Kassadin's unkiteability. Is the answer {{item:3157}}? Because that applies to Rengar's burst as well. What about {{summoner:4}} then? Also applies to Rengar as you'll avoid E, W and ferocity burst by creating distance.

High DPS machines that you need to mow down. when im talking about mechanical counterplay, im talking about a weakness in vaynes kit that you can play around no matter the champion youre playing yourself. if melee carries need to be designed around having mechanical counterplay in their kits, then ranged carries should be held to the same design standarts. since their range grants them already higher reliability through target access and frontloaded damage, they need to be held to even higher standarts. the fact that they arent is the reason why the class is so toxic and so hard to balance. skillshot abilities for example have mechanical counterplay. you can dodge them. it doesnt matter which champion youre playing. every champion in the game can sidestep a skillshot ability. fioras vitals have mechanical counterplay. no matter which champion in the game youre playing, you can position yourself to hide vitals inside walls and protect them from being being attacked by fiora. urgots shotgun legs have mechanical counterplay. no matter which champion youre playing, you can outposition him in a way, where he doesnt get more than a single leg proc on you by moving so you face the same side of his hitbox while fighting him. vayne has no such element in her kit, except for the stun on her e. the problem is, the stun happens to be attached to a direct target displacement that you still take even when she misses the stun itself.

The majority of melees are heavily dependant on landing their kit to be effective, though often the reward is also significant {{champion:266}} {{champion:122}} {{champion:420}} {{champion:32}} {{champion:64}} etc. Ranged carries aren't restricted to this and the only real criteria for them is to be alive and in range to be at full effectiveness. It's one of the reasons why I consider {{champion:202}} to be among the best designed marksmen. There are multiple ways to reduce his effectiveness, by either preventing Q from increasing in damage through positioning, or dodging his most potent long ranged abilities. Not to mention that Jhin gives you plenty of opportunity to decide if you want to keep up the fight, or disengage before he executes a lethal fourth shot, after which he's vulnerable.

However, that item slot gets spent on an item that provides stats just like your what you normally would fill it out with. Thus warding mid river bush at 1:20 has become a norm for midlaners, which in turn helps me and allows me to adapt my clear, countergank and know the position of the enemy jungler at all times in the early game. -It will slow down junglers, that is a bad thing for me as someone who plays a lot of jungle, but I think that it is good for a game to slow down a bit, it might also help tank junglers that were slower to actualy get a bit meta. On the other hand Shaco is hit by Tiamat nerf, ignite nerf, jungle exp nerf, crit item reverts, FUUUUUUU Rito for constantly shitting on my main.

This is especially because people still view him as a jungler, which they're not wrong for viewing as, even though in my opinion, Rengar top is ever so slightly better. When it comes to jungling, I think one of the primary reasons why he isn't paid much attention to in the jungle is because people think Kha'Zix is more "broken" right now. Kha'Zix and Rengar have always been hand in hand, where many disregard Kha'Zix if Rengar is strong, and vice versa. Kha'Zix is strong, yes, but anyone who's even REMOTELY competent at Rengar will easily beat a Kha'Zix. Kha'Zix may not have nearly as high as a skill FLOOR as Rengar, but he has a way higher skill CAP. This makes it so more people can use Kha'Zix effectively. However, if there is a Rengar player who's about the same mechanical skill level as Kha'Zix, there is not a SINGLE scenario, no 1v1, no teamfight, no skirmish, no drag or baron fight, no split push, no jungle clear, absolutely ZERO scenario where a Rengar would even come close to losing to a Rengar. The Rengar could have less macro and still be able to win just because of the champion. Even if the Rengar is isolated, 1-2 levels behind, an entire full item behind without having any stacks on his necklace, he should still VERY easily be able to solo kill the Kha'Zix unless he fucks up. Basically, people ignore Rengar because other junglers like Kha'Zix are "stronger", when in reality, there's no scenario where Rengar should lose to any jungler, with Kha'Zix only being one example.

: Their goal is to push her back to top lane. She's got a good chunk of extra health and her W will still protect her against physical damage and CC. Plus, her damage and CC on her ult got a buff. A 90% slow for 1.5 seconds lets you land your stun basically guaranteed, so you can ult, go in with the free reset, stun them, Q reset AGAIN, and pound away at max passive stacks until they die.
We'll see about that. I wouldn't be surprised if Irelia would never be picked at all. She loses to everyone with all the nerfs she has received.

It's about assassins in general, and I can absolutely guarantee you that the way you describe them there, is not how a proper assassin works. Assassins are a constant. Assassin in different games require different mechanics, but the core is still the same. Next you're gonna say that fighters and tanks require new designs based on genres too? Supports don't provide the same utility as assassins should. It's a win-win situation; assassins will feel useful outside of one shotting and everyone else won't have to deal with 0.1 erasure {{champion:107}}.
: you do know that Pyke's lack of burst is due to him also being a support right? it's also due to everything he offers that people don't really like Pyke and have many issues with him. If anything assassins should be less like Pyke
And it's also due to him being a support Riot decided to give him more utility. This utility is what's needed on other assassins as well, it allows them to perform more roles than simply killing someone really fast. This type of design is only represented in LoL, other games allow the sneaky types to do more (again, take a look at the rogue from WoW). My understanding on why people dislike Pyke is because he has **too** high uptime on his R, and that his heal is overtuned. It's not because he provides more utility and potential than other assassins.
: It's easy to make assassins not feast or famine if you give them something else to do other than just kill you. Riot claimed to want to do this during the initial class rework but made no actual attempt to do so. There are definitely more than 2 outcomes though. you die to their burst, you live through their burst, you use a zhonyas and live, use a zhonyas and still die. Your teammate saves you. You just kill the assassin because your kit is better or you are fed. My issue with pyke is that Imo he only works because his numbers are crazy high not because it's a good design. like my god that ult damage is nuts for it to have an execute and reset on top of his other utility.
Is that really the only reason he works though? Even if Pyke has a hard time bringing people into execute range, he can still hook people for pick potential and peel enemy assassins/divers with his CC. Other assassins don't have the capability, if {{champion:107}} {{champion:91}} {{champion:238}} {{champion:105}} {{champion:55}} is not able to provide enough burst damage, they effectively become worthless. Especially {{champion:55}}, who is a 100% dependant on scoring takedowns. And the outcomes you've described is the same thing I said but repeated.

: Pyke does not need to be 15-0 to one shot someone he can do so just fine early game. Midlane he can dominate early but he needs to finish the game fast or else all of his end the game early potential is gone.
I mean yeah, if you don't end the game early your 'end the game early' potential is gone :) Pyke has been overbuffed recently, his numbers are overtuned but if you look away from that the above counts. Chances are he'll be nerfed in the future and then he can't go midlane anymore, since I don't believe Riot have any intention of him running around anywhere but bot lane. Even if he isn't capable of dominating any lane, he'll still be useful to a team through his CC and utility. That's something other assassins lack.
