I get this issue with katarina all the time and it is painful when i know im pressing my keys right and my combos arent right. This is also why trying to learn zilean has pissed me off, and also why my ezreal combos dont work as intended. No wonder. I even have this happen with rammus. Very painful to deal with, and even worse when my mistake-- which is actually the code's mistake-- costs me crucial fights or even LP.

remove E cast time -OR- increase the amount of CD refund to E on dagger proc. No other assassin has to stand around for 3 seconds waiting for a way to escape except katarina. Zed's lockout from R2 is what, .75 sec? LB can W2 in the same amount of time. Rengar doesnt really have time gates on his abilities, though he used to when Q had a tiiiny little cast time. Talon has a 1 sec CD on his E-- as long as there are walls, his mobility is practically unhindered. Kat is honestly the only mobile assassin I can think of who is locked out of actually being mobile for over 3 seconds and it really feels terrible. I wouldnt dare buff her damage. I seriously think no assassin really needs damage buffs, but god damnit as a devout katarina main for nearly my entire time playing league, she feels clunky, shitty, and extremely vulnerable until she has maxed out E. Some even go so far to max E first after 3 points in Q. I do this, too, most games. It sucks. I have to give up so much damage just to be effective and mobile and not feel like im playing a roblox character. In the end, I think katarina doesnt need damage buffs. Just... idk, set the E refund to be like 1.5 sec at all levels, instead of scaling 3.0 - 0.8 at levels 1-18(and with E skill level). I wouldnt even mind it if they removed the movespeed from W if it meant I could feel less clunky using my blink ability.

Also, we aren't exclusively kat mains, but there is a handful of assassin and kat mains in the club, as well as just a bunch of friends. It isn't very active these days, but maybe that can be changed through pruning and adding actual katarina mains.

If they did do that, it could throw off the general game balance. Readability should be organized in a way that will continue to be equally as readable even when numbers are changed. Maybe it could have a list at the bottom of the tooltip that shows all currently known enemy champion levels, and next to it, the amount of armor pen you would have against that level. Would be extra neat if there are multiple champions of the same level, so the list condenses each level into one listing.

Just a note for you, this means that lethality scales up to a 1:1 lethality to armor pen ratio. To really shed clarity, You will always have 40% of your lethality as armor pen, plus 1/18th of the other 60% of your lethality per enemy champion level. Every level up an enemy gets, adds 1/18th of that 60% into your armor pen. So at level 18, you get 100% of that 60%(which scales with enemy level) and your base 40%. (So you get 100% lethality as armor pen vs targets @lvl 18)

{{champion:55}} -If you play it right, you can destroy wards easily as kat, without a {{item:3341}} ! Auto a ward that is placed nearby, or if you are fortunate enough, a teammate with a ranged auto attack can hit it at least once. Use E(Shunpo/Blink) and you will extend the visibility duration of the ward long enough to easily get the last 2 hits on the ward. -{{champion:55}} can effectively increase her blink radius by using {{summoner:4}} and shunpo simultaneously(although it is best to use flash ever so slightly before shunpo). Most players do not respect this distance and end up accidentally giving you a kill(given that you are exerting lane dominance). -{{champion:55}} ultimate can only be used when in range of an enemy champion. It can STILL be used even if that enemy champion is stealthed or in a bush. Watch for your ult icon to light up if you are against an{{champion:28}} or {{champion:35}} to get an early beat on surprise ganks, or when roaming to prevent/reduce the pain of getting ganked while roaming. -{{champion:55}} can proc her Q mark with another Q if she gets a reset. Superficially, this means that in some cases, she not only gets resets, but an empowered Q. -Bind your {{item:3340}} to the "T" key. It really helps with ward hopping. -Many people argue that {{item:3285}} is a must-buy item on katarina, but truthfully, it is most useful against squishier enemy comps, as the {{item:3285}} proc is, for the most part, flat damage. It's a great early game item, that falls off later compared to other "Big AP" items, such as: {{item:3089}} {{item:3116}} {{item:3135}} -{{item:3146}} is literally the best snowball item you can buy on Kat. Not only that, but it gives you a higher one-shot potential than ludens, at the cost of being a single target active with a higher cooldown. Most people already know gunblade is a good item on Kat, but I have seen many people complain when I buy it, only to make them feel dumb for questioning it. It's a great item, seriously. It also funtions as a bloodthirster, more or less, with TONS of damage. Also has a fantastic buildpath, and revolver is very powerful early on. -Often on the first minion wave, if you are patient, you can kill all three melee minions with a single Q. It looks cool, feels good, and is totally a protip :^) -Flashing Mastery 7 while playing {{champion:55}} has been known to cause people to tilt. This is how you will win most games as Katarina. -Last, but not least, the most IMPORTANT tip for playing {{champion:55}} is that when people say "Garbage Kat", it really means "pls stop murdering us all" Take it as a compliment, not an insult.

This might have already been a suggestion, and I know the client is already coming far, but what if: Closing the client won't cause a 'dodge' in champ select. Instead, there are 2 ways to dodge. A) You don't pick/ban B) There is a button to dodge When you close the client in any way, logging back in will put you back into champion select. The point of this is to allow players whose client has frozen or bugged in some way to relog and not incur a dodge timer for _wanting_ to play the game

I main mid, because I'm a control freak. Being in the center of the map is advantageous for those seeking to control sidelane aggression, and objective calls. Being in mid lane allows for very valuable warding locations that will give you a general idea of where the enemy jungler is heading, or coming out from. There is also a lot of room for flexibility(while maintaining your meta-pants) in terms of composition.

The items would have to be situational and useful, because youre paying more gold to get what used to be morellonomicon. I dont even see why they would have to replace morellonomicon. Having rod of ages doesnt mean we have to ditch rylais. You can have the "power now" item, or the "better in the long run" item(as you have to muster up more gold to get equivalent or better stats than a morello, obviously).

Hi there! I like to max W vs yasuo. It gives me more dps(that also cannot be windwalled) and better pushing powers (as yasuo pushes hard, himself). If you are asking what to do vs lanes that push hard, i would still recommend maxing Q, as it is your safest form of putting out damage. I max w in matchups where the enemy laner needs to be in my face to pose a threat(I almost always start Q though). Take care, as maxing W doesnt necessarily mean you can just mash w while walking right up in their face. W, abuse the movespeed boost to run to relative safety, wait a few seconds, or wait until they blow an important ability, or even just a bread and butter ability(for example, i wait for yasuo to Q before I W, and i bait windwall out with Q before all in with my ultimate). This leads to the next point and your next question: You go in when you are guaranteed resets, or enemies have blown "Kat-Killing" abilities. Finding the guarantee for resets comes with practice. It's something you just have to have a feel for in due time. It's also extremely important to KNOW your damage output at any given time, and to know exactly how you will spend your resets as they come. I can kill the low HP ad carry who is frontlining, but his entire full hp team is behind him. It doesnt look like i will be able to kill the adc in time before they use a point and click stun and f**k me up, so I had either lay low, or... ...I can find an angle, or i can poke the ad carry if possible in hopes of a guaranteed "instant reset", where i just E>W on him, and immediately E out to safety... ...or I might have zhonyas on me to basically nullify any cc that was coming towards me(all the while, spamming E or Trinket+E to safety while in stasis from zhonyas. This is always risky because it comes down to who can time the end of zhonyas stasis best, but an option... ... or you can poke the rest of the team where possible, in hopes of assuring yourself with more potential resets, earning a triple kill or more! You could also just wait for someone with good AoE cc, if possible, to come in and set you up for a safe full cycle of spells+zhonyas where needed. Turning back to your first question, you dont win trades early as Kat. Early being level 1 or 2, except in special matchups. Trading implies you are dealing damage with your attacks and abilities to a champion, while they reciprocate. Her early base damages are pretty awful, but you dont have mana and are free to use abilities only restricted by cooldowns. Something important to learn from Katarina is the importance of cooldowns. A lot of people take for granted what it means to not have an ability available. If, at level 1, Yasuo Q's, thats 3.4 to 4 seconds of time where he cannot use that ability. That's free time to take a cs, break his passive shield, or if the circumstances are correct, trade. You will always be deciding whether or not you should use your Q to last hit that minion, or walk up to last hit with an auto attack(and most likely take damage to the face). Walking up to last hit could also mean youve decided on using your E cooldown to immediately shunpo to safety after securing your last hit. Just know that in most lanes, your goal is to reach level 3 before thinking about trading(as you will have a means to swiftly proc the mark on your Q and escape). Ultimately you will be more concerned with cs'ing and getting a little more than just base damage from your abilities(in other words, get that needlessly large rod!!). Stomping your lane can happen in the early game, before your first back, and especially if you spend your potions wisely and outsustain the enemy laner, but youre more likely to see results if you win the farm game, and get a better buy on your first back. Speaking of farm game, make sure you put a lot of effort into learning how Kat's bouncing blades work, and using that knowledge to your advantage. You can target the enemy who is near a low minion, get the full damage on the champion AND secure the last hit at the same time, and if you feel it is safe enough, you can E>W and run away to win the trade. Kat's E reduced damage taken for 1.5 seconds? 2 seconds? either way, you E in, and W exactly at the same time that you land on their head, and the damage reduction+the speed boost from W will, in most cases, ensure you win the trade... Just make sure you know your enemy, and make sure you aren't Shunpo'ing to your own doom.

Main champ: I main assassins, but my _most played_ champions is, in fact, Katarina. I have only been playing her rarely in the past month? two months? I binged some 200-400(too lazy to count up) in around the span of (1-3?) months during this season, and main lane: of course, that means I mainly play in the middle lane. I played mainly in the bot lane last season, and have decent experience as a support as well. I have no preference after mid lane, however. voice programs available (we can use curse voice, teamspeak, mumble, ventrilo, skype): Curse voice preferred, skype is acceptable. What timezone you are in: Denver, Colorado/MST/MDT/Mountain age: 20 what time are you normally on (in your timezone): looking to be online during weekdays starting as early noon-3pm and getting offline anywhere between 6pm to midnight. Free all day on the weekends (this may be subject to change, but my schedule has been very solidly consistent in terms of scheduling over the past month, and i have spoken to my manager about this, and this seems to be his plan for me. Why do you want to go pro: I want to prove to the world that I have the potential to be a world-class mid laner. I want to travel, and play the game I love. I want to get away from the toxicity and be immersed in a whole new realm of league of legends. I want to learn and grow with a team and reach beyond being a world class mid-laner, and be a part of a world-class team. And secretly, I want to give Bjergsen a lane he will remember, if he is still in the professional scene by the time we, theoretically, would reach that point of gameplay/teamplay.

you had me interested until you said > guarantee their win As I was reading i did think it would be a good idea to implement a single allowed dodge per series. It would allow you to mark a player and then dodge, to be sure you don't get the next lobby with them. Having a severe time limitation on it, say a week, or a day, or a month (I don't know the stats on how many times players find a troll in the lobby, therefore I cannot say what would be considered "severe" or even "moderate"), but if someone is obviously trolling before the game starts, I believe there should be a small amount of leeway there. Also Pay2Rank, let alone P2W is messed up. It's not a part of Riot's philosophy here. I am willing to **debate** that claim.

Could even just have regular rift, however the win condition changes from "kill the nexus" to "score 50 points" or as you said, 'get the most by 30 minutes'. I would play it then, because it would still retain the same balance, however, players are more aggressive. I dont think the meta would be completely changed, though players would look at {{champion:127}} and think "lots of aoe damage, stasis/heal ulti, lots of cc for team fights" and leave out the "lots of waveclear" part. This is a single, and rough example, of course. I was also think perhaps leaving base towers completely invincible, however, keeping all other towers vulnerable as an objective of gold value. _oh man, what if the game ended when a team has slain dragon 5 times... or best of 3 baron fights..._

Hello! I've been waiting for an appropriate Q&A for this question, and this Q&A seems to be open to anything so: Does riot have any plans or interests in working with {{champion:55}} ? Or AP assassins? When i say "working with", I'm looking more towards the scope of say, the juggernaut changes, and will AP assassins receive a similar treatment with itemization and mechanical cohesiveness among one another. (Juggernauts are all mechanically similar in that they strive to be in your face, as slow as they are, and when they get there, they grind you into a bloody pulp). My main reason for asking this question is that I really love playing katarina, but its upsetting that shes one of few assassins that can rarely be played by nature of her kit. She can assassinate, but shes so easy to prevent from assassinating with a vast majority of champions having one or more tools to stop her. Someone like {{champion:91}} can all in, and disengage, and cc is something you use in hopes of catching {{champion:91}} , or in hopes of catching {{champion:38}} , or in hopes of catching {{champion:7}} , but katarina, once she's in, she's in, and "There's no going back." {{champion:55}} I'd really like to see a bit more opportunity for Katarina, seeing as she can be so easily shut out of the game. Of course, I can see how difficult this can be to achieve. She snowballs hard, she does TONS of damage{{item:3078}} , and she has enough mobility to get out of a lot of situations(at the expense of her ability to instantly engage). I feel like tanks and juggernauts are impossible for the likes of katarina. Someone like lux has a burst combo without being an assassin, has tools to deal with tanks, juggernauts, and carries, while Tanks laugh at katarina's damage, they must respect the damage of mages who deal greater burst than an assassin. TL;DR Any plans or thoughts on Katarina?

I have done the math and compared my build to a few common builds. I even assumed that Kat was level 18 and had complete scaling ap runes, so as to lean the numbers in favor of any build that was not mine. the only build that came anywhere near the damage output of my build (assuming the target has at least 50 MR) was a build consisting of Void staff, Sorcs, rabadons, zhonyas, ludens echo, and hextech gunblade. i ran calculations on both just Katarina Q, and her full combo, assuming she gets a max range shunpo, walks just a smidgen and procs ludens echo twice (and gets her complete ultimate off). At 50 MR, the he xtech build does 200 more damage than my build(my build does ~4433 damage total). A full AP build ONLY with a fully stacked mejais (in lieu of hextech) does similar damage. Also, if you were wondering why my build damage is estimated, it's because calculating the damage from liandrys is tricky. I used a value of 50 damage for liandrys. At 100 MR, my build does 600 more damage than a hextech build, and 200 more at 150 MR. Also, in regards to assassinating a carry with an assumed 31.5 mr, my build will do 3546 damage-- way more than enough to kill that pesky jinx, graves, or sivir (okay, sivir is a tricky one). A hextech build will do about 4.6k damage to that same carry with 31.5 MR. Also, on my build if we sold ludens echo for zhonyas, we would still do more mid-late game damage than a full AP build, PLUS we would have ~100 armor, ~80 MR, and we can take it a step further by replacing boots for Rylais, for utility and a total of 3K HP. Of course, we would not have boots, and this would bring the damage margins of my build even closer to that of a hextech build. On a final note, guardian angel is a thing that can accomplish the defensive stats of rylais, abyssal, and zhonyas all in one slot... however, the unreliability of the stasis usually wards me off from buying it. Admittedly, it has saved my butt when I could revive and instantly ward hop over a nearby wall, but that wall does not always exist. for those particularly curious, I have numbers on mejais builds, Hybrid builds, ad builds, ap builds, double snowball item builds, bootless ap builds, the aforementioned gunblade build, and of course, my build. If anyone wants to hear any specific numbers, or if you want to proofread my calculations, feel free.

Hm, I did not know that mechanic regarding MPEN vs Reduction. That's interesting to know. on the subject of targeting squishies, I find having 900 ap is overkill. This build is more than enough to pop the adc and mid lane mage(pls no chogath). Of course, the main targets are the carries, buy this is not always possible. In a scenario where flanking is dangerous, and both teams are standing off (given the enemy has a massive Frontline) this build excels in making kat useful as more than just an assassin. She retains her ability to assassinate, but also gains the ability to apply meaningful poke to a hefty frontline. Also, while I'm sad to hear Im not doing bonus damage to most of the targets I thought I was, at least it's still true damage :p
