: The farming setup at the beginning has a purpose. It shows the general time of year, gives a hint how long Riven has been there, shows that she's been reduced to really humble work, and gives her something she could possibly have used as a weapon when they come to arrest her.
Yeah... I know. I wasn't critiquing that bit. I was trying to make a point of how the writers COULD have added even MORE to the farming bit, but didn't because what they had had already accomplished what they needed.
: Would it take anything away from them?
The writer COULD have added an additional few paragraphs near the star about proper Ionian farming tools and practices, and as cool of a world-building element that might have been, it adds nothing to the story. The focus of this tale is between a select few characters and how they deal with consequences, adding other stuff would just dilute that.
: Why couldn't this story exist with the "Institute of War" still around?
Because it would add nothing to the dynamic between these characters.
: I think Venom is a good aproximation of what we originally expected with Kai'sa

You know, void corrupted foot isnt as much of a problem as void corrupted heart, or brain, dont you think? Then by all means, give her corrupted insectoid/carapace feet. Is void corruption a facet of her character? Then it should be easily visible! A good character design can tell you everything you need to know about a character at a glance. Nothing about Kai'Sa's appearance screams "hellscape survivor" or "alien symbiote." It's like Riot couldn't decide between one or the other and just made her a hot teen in bodypaint as a lazy compromise. Kai'Sa's biggest issue is that she looks generic as hell. Honestly, having just listened to her voice again, it's not really that her dialogue is necessarily bad, its just... generic. There's nothing in particular that makes her stand out from your typical videogame heroine character. When compared to the likes of Taric, Jhin, Thresh, Twitch, her writing feels totally uninspired. Her voice actress sounds tired, and not a "I'm a quiet reserved hunter whos been running a lot" kind of tired, it's a "I'm putting minimal effort into these lines" kind of tired.

: Y'ALL ARE ONLY MAD BECAUSE KAI'SA HAS B00BS
Notice the only people complaining about Irelia's appearance is that she isn't sexy _enough_? People complaining about Kai'Sa do not have a problem with attractive character designs. They have a problem when a character's appearance directly contradicts their guiding trope and background lore.
: I mean, isn't that kinda boring? Oh boy. It's a life threatening thing I'm in. Good thing I have this suit to just... allow me to survive the whole time.
That's certainly part of the problem. The void is significantly less scary/interesting if you can just slap on some weird skin and you're gucci.
: "in the void" Gurl, she wasn't in the void. Like stop with this.
Shoot, that's right. She was living in subterranean caves that were pockmarked with void portals and completely saturated with an alien magic that mutates creatures into chitinous monsters.
: Might be that her living suit, being a Void creature itself, consumes and digests their prey. It then feeds the human host via an unknown method. Or maybe they're fused enough for their digestive systems to become one, allowing her to survive off of Void flesh.
If ANYTHING is gonna turn you into a weird void monstrosity, it's gotta be "fused enough for their digestive systems to become one". The amount of contact she has with this ALIEN THING cannot be healthy, otherwise what's the point of the void? Anyone can live there if you wear this conveniently human-biology-friendly suit creature?

: Untrue, sometimes the only indicator you get is the little image of someone else getting ghost pwned. Sometimes you don't even get that.
The bloodstains are an observational resource, just like your eyes and your common sense. They are meant to make you aware of any dangers that lie ahead; if you're not cautious, if you charge in recklessly, you could end up just like that guy. If you still fail to spot the danger, if you still charge ahead, then that's on you, not the game. I maintain that every obstacle in these games can be easily overcome if you spend a good couple seconds looking around each new room you enter.
: Because sometimes unless you've looked up something in advance you just die out of nowhere. Once you know about it, it's not a problem. But random dying isn't exactly the perfect image of fairness. Not saying everything HAS to be fair, sometimes unfairness can be fun.
But Dark Souls doesn't just randomly kill you. Every trap, every enemy is clearly visible to the player, you just have to use that extra bit of caution and attentiveness to spot them. The game gives you a 3rd person camera, you're supposed to use it to your advantage.
: Dark souls is hugely guilty of fake difficulty. I'm not saying it's a bad game, cause it's not, but don't try and use it as a model for correct difficulty scaling lol.
In what way is Dark Souls guilty of fake difficulty? Those games provide you with everything you need to know, provided you take longer than a few seconds to look for it.
