: there are 4 tiers of punishment: 1. 10 game chat restriction 2. 25 game chat restriction 3. 14-day ban 4. permaban Everytime you get punished, you move up the punishment ladder. Extreme toxicity can skip punishment tiers. Mild toxicity over many many many many games will eventually get someone permabanned.
Why is that correct? You don't have five speeding tickets in your life and one time parking in the fire lane and suddenly get sentenced to life in prison. That would be ridiculous. "Well sir your broke the law 6 times, enjoy your new home and don't drop the soap!" That makes no sense.
: You called them retards 3 times... At the very least (from what I saw browsing). No matter the context though, you are supposed to keep your cool. Mute them, move chat off screen, do something to help yourself my man. It's unfortunate, and while I don't necessarily think it was perma ban worthy, you do have to realize that calling them retards is also toxic. :<
Yes and I agree with that. But I don't think its worthy of a perma ban. But when you have an entire team going to report you no matter what for inting because you didn't get any kills and kept getting tower dove, and blaming you and flaming you all game long. All I did was explain that it wasn't my fault, and kept asking how it was my fault. Yes I have been given 3 chances as you say, but this game is nowhere near the level of the other games. I completely agreed with my 14 day ban. I told someone to kill themselves and that is completely unacceptable behavior. Yes this was not "sportsmanship" and yes you can say it was toxic. But this is the highest sentence in league of legends. A permanent ban is like life in prision. Even if someone has been to jail twice before for a DUI or something like that, they aren't put into life in prison for Jwalking. The sentence should fit the crime. In no way does that hold true here.

: I definitely agree with your core argument that more is not better. Over time we have been gradually shifting from TONS of new champs and 0 updates to less and less new champs -> more quality of new champs (and more updates). Rough estimates off the top of my head: 2010 : 24 2011 : 24 2012 : 24 2013 : 8 2014 : 6 2015 : 5 2016 : like i said probably 6 This trend is definitely deliberate to focus on only making the few additions that will actually add something new and essential to the game. A side point that you bring up about how managing 130+ champions is extremely complex and possibly reaching the ceiling of what is legitimately possible. We are constantly thinking about what systemic changes to the game we could or should make to make this a sustainable and scaleable future. Things like: * Limited draft modes (like original DOTA RD) * Rotating sets of champs that are "in play" (like things that Magic The Gathering does with cards and sets) * Shifting some more of the "make new champ" resources into big VGU style updates * Other crazy ideas like - In a best of 5 every time a champ is picked, they are cut from the pool for the rest of the series These are very loose conversations at this point and we haven't found anything that we all agree is the right move for LoL, so don't expect that any of these are coming soon or in the pipe. Though I would appreciate and value your opinions/feelings on these types of directions.
Other crazy ideas like - In a best of 5 every time a champ is picked, they are cut from the pool for the rest of the series ^ This is arguably the worst idea for the competitive scene we have heard in a long time if not the worst. I'm not looking to bash you guys, I love League, but Riot has never been able to balance more then a few dozen champs to be anywhere near effective at the highest tiers. Think about any meta, even the most open ones we have had, the biggest pool of champions for most lanes and roles would be about 4 or so S picks. Assuming that every series people would be picking the best champs it would remove 10 champions for the second game + bans thats 13, then by game 5, 53+ champions have been removed from play. I'm sorry but that would destroy high quality league. I would completely stop watching because after the first game it would just become a total crap shoot of off picks that are just trying to be cheese because nothing good is open. League is at its best when what is being played is something that is refined. And you cannot have a dozen and a half champion combinations all be refined. It takes time, it takes work, and it takes repeated play to obtain mastery and all these changes you are talking about just shit all over those concepts. You throw around words like "competitive integrity' but these are the EXACT changes which destroy competitive integrity. Dynamic Queue & the new champ select destroyed the practice environment of pros in the west. The patch timings completely ruin the point of a regular season. These kinds of things are what drives people away because it says that you dont care about the health of the scene and instead just want it to be some new crazy lights to draw in the most causal of players. Well I'm sorry, those who love high level league, who go back and rewatch three or four year old vods because it is some of the crispest game play of all time, those are the people who you should actually start thinking about from time to time. Because we care. I get that these are "just ideas" but to often "just ideas" get bounced around and no one ever takes a step away from all the hype on the floor and says "look if we implement this, the top 1% of our competition will be destroyed." Or "if we introduce this now, it will have destroyed the entire legitmacy of our league, or our playoffs." Look at last years worlds, or this years playoffs. I'm sorry, but having all the games go to B05 is more "exciting' only on the most basic of levels. Because no one is actually versed on the patch, or understands the depths of the strategy, it turned into a full crapshoot across every region. The play wasn't "good" it was just a shit show of teams trying to figure what the hell is actually good. It undermines the entire legitimacy of the competitive esports. I'm sorry but the quality of play say, between Rox vs KT or SKT vs KT this year was not of the same level as that of SSG Blue vs KTA, or KTB vs SKT of past years in LCK. I would also say that the play offs of this year in EU were not nearly as high quality as they were last year between OG and Fnatic. This is all really long winded and ranty, and I dont mean to come off as aggressive or cruel. I really do love this game, and I love you guys for the work you put into it. But I think I speak for a very passionate set of the community who just asks that you stop being so focused on the causal, and realize your hard core market, the ones that are really passionate, they matter to. So think of us sometimes, and actually care about the "competitive integrity" you guys always say you care about so much.
: While the reward has a top-staying-top focus to some extent, the fact that the objective is more impactful and contestable means mids and jungles get drawn into fights over it, so we haven't really seen it increase isolation play too crazily. We've also seen some jungles and mids actually want the buff. Will definitely keep an eye on it though. Yep. Enemies will see your buff respawns no matter what. Prepare for invades accordingly.
I dont mean to be rude, but this is god damn ridiculous. This isn't the same as Dragon and Baron which are large team objectives. Jungle buff timers give away everything about a jungler, where did they start, what camps they have taken, what level they will be, what lanes they will be ganking. If you see a lee sin at 4~ min they just took blue you can surmise that Krugs, Red, Raptors, Wolves, Blue was done, they have no HP and are now having to back. This informs you that there is almost no chance of a counter gank if you then make a move on top based on information you have no right having. Likewise, if you are top lane and you see lee has gotten blue at 3:15 you know he has gone krugs, red, blue, and now will either be at skuttle or making his way to top lane for a gank. This just fucks over the entire early game jungle pathing by pressing fucking tab. Just because people in bronze might be to stupid to look at jungle timers doesn't mean that this doesn't have MASSIVE negative impact for players in even moderately high elo's like low plat to say nothing of Master/Challenger. This just screams of another casual change with no regard for the competitive integrity of the game, just like dynamic queue. Riot is proving with each subsequent patch that you guys actually dont give a damn about the higher 1% of players that have sunk their lives into the mastery of this game, nor do you care about the Esports side. These ballance changes are ruining the game. And this is before we get to the god damn RNG dragon you are adding.

: >That's totally understandable. However, this is all contingent upon your expectation that Cassiopeia be more like a Medusa. I agree that Medusa and Twin Fang spam don't necessarily go hand-in-hand, and that if we were to create Cassiopeia from scratch today, Twin Fang might not be part of the equation. That said, we're trying to refine a character that utilizes her existing sources of power, one of which is Twin Fang, into something that is more balanced (thematically speaking, not power). Twin Fang has undeniably always been one of Cassiopeia's threats, so we don't want to get rid of that. We want to balance things out so that it's not playing such a disproportionately high role in that power distribution. I used the Medusa comparison because, at the end of the day, Cassiopeia is clearly based on Medusa and the Gorgons. Even without her appearance, she's still a champion that is utilizing poisons in half her kit, a third AoE spell designed for lockdown, and a single high-damaging spell tied to a mechanic involving Poisons. If you were really trying to balance Cassiopeia *thematically*, then Poisons and her snake motif should be what's catching your eye, not Twin Fang. And, you know what? I **can** deny that Twin Fang has always been on of Cassiopeia's threats, because her pre-rework incarnation, the version that I loved to play, had it as a filler-spell. Her main threat was how much damage she could do in an area, over time, witht he proper team to lockdown and slow the enemies. She wasn't about tagging someone then bursting them down with her E. The E was there just to give her something to do while she waited for her Q to come back, give her some semblance of 1v1 potential, and to maintain her old Deadly Cadence passive. Her original state had her kit spread into her Q and W doing most of her damage, with E tacked on. Her rework, which was very poorly recieved by the people that actually played her, turned her into a 1v1/single-target champion first and foremost, when the rest of her kit still screams AoE/teamfight mage. >Not sure there's a point to a comment like this, as I'm sure the desired outcome isn't that we should just change characters without regard to identity. The point of this comment is that, while you're claiming that you don't want to "alienate the players that already enjoy the champion", any time there's big backlash towards a dramatic shift in a champion, it's ignored. Cass was reworked away from a thematic that suited her, and still suits her, which alienated a LOT of players from her. Trundle lost his entire identity years ago. Sion retains a SINGLE TRAIT from his original kit, and nothing of his original playstyle. I'm seriously not trying to be rude, I just feel it has to be said. Anytime there's a huge change for a champion, that players react negatively to, it's simply pushed aside. Anytime input is asked for, it's brushed aside, and ignored, in favor of the ideas that are already in the reworking Rioters head. This happened with Cass' original rework, and, frankly, I'm still salty about that. I, and a lot of other Cassiopeia players, lost a champion that we loved to play, in favor of Ryze 1.5, and it feels terrible.
I played both versions of cassie, and I love the new version so much. The idea that she is just another ryze is such bullshit. Cassie as she is is about zone managment and moving from target to the next, her place in team fights is to wittle down one target before taking down the second. Her kit IS a dot of its own. i dont want a champion that is nothing but a dot champion. Dots are by there nature boring and uninteresting. "Oh i landed this spell on you, i will now walk away while you take damage with no counter play for three seconds." Does anyone feel good when they get a malifecient vision stuck to them, or a teemo shroom? No, its a frustrating game mechanic that doesnt reward skill, decision making, or positioning. Its a low input mechanic that doesnt provide a large varience in skill levels. And I looooove that cassie isnt such a boring champion. Cassie is hard, she requires timing, and excelent positioning, she comes out like a snake and strikes at her opponenents and chokes the life out of them. She delievers on the fantasy that she can take anyone, tank or adc, and melt through them. Nothing can stand against her fangs if she can get them around their throat. Its the idea of being able to melt through anyone, not some lame ass dot which provides little interaction for both parties that makes Cassie, Cassie to me. So i love twin fangs, I love Cassie as she is right now, and I am sorry that you dont love her. But just because you want a different champion doesnt mean that I should be denied the champion i love. Should riot make a dot champion? Sure. Should in doing so they remove a champion that other people love? No. And fuck you if you tell me to go play ryze, ryze is a off tanky frontline. They are not the same. If i can play ryze instead of cassie you can go play fucking teemo.
: Why Aurelion Sol? Aurelion is one who is interested in butterflies. Then Sol is Latin for the sun. How does that name make sense for a dragon? At least you say its still a dragon. Seriously, I need to know why you picked this name and what you actually meant for the name to mean.
There is also the possibility it is a name which is reflective of Sol Invictus (The Unconquered Sun), which was a cult which was prominent in the Eastern Roman Empire and Persian/Sassanid Empires and was officially adopted as a Cult by Aurelian. (Most noteworthy thing about it is that it was the religious bridge between traditional Pagan polytheistic views in Roman society to monotheistic.) Pfft.. Who am I kidding... I am the only one who actually cares about this crap..
: > But anyway, do you guys feel Quinn is too strong? I've loved playing her since her rework but some people seem to thing she's still OP? She seems like she's on the strong side, but hopefully not by an excessive amount. I wouldn't be surprised if the balance team wanted to nerf her in a few patches if she manages to rise to the top again. > Can we expect taric soon, soonTM, or still a ways off? Don't really expect this to get answered. Really depends how long these timer intervals are. I'm going to go with "Soon," since it's all but guaranteed that he's the next full size Champion Update we're going to deliver. > What are some immobile mages you personally think need work (not necessarily ones you'll work on) Malzahar because I think he's a lot cooler thematically than his gameplay lets him be. Swain because I think he's generally just a mess. Zyra because I think there are tons of opportunities to do cool things with her. Cassiopeia because I'd want a chance to get her some of her poison identity back.
I think Cassie has a very good defined kit. If you think about what she does thematically, she is a really dangerous champion when up close and in striking distance. (Like a real snake). And with ger ult she has a really strong peel/teamfight pressence while her posion mechanic makes her along with ryze the machine gun mage. I think that posion in and of itself is a troublesome mechanic. Think how frustrating things like teemo shrooms are. Dots in general offer little to no counterplay and do nothing to make for a really satisfying play experience on the user side. Its boring and frustrating. I think trying to bank on the posion mechanic will only make Cassie more frustrating or boring.

GUYS! HOLY SHIT GUYS! GRAHAM McNEILL IS THE AUTHOR!!!! This man is easily a top three writer for the Black Library and has written some of the absolute BEST novels and short stories for Warhammer 40k. His Ultramarines series was the series that got me into reading 40k, and even after reading the likes of Dan Abnett and William King amongst others, he is still the best author I have read for his detailed actions scenes. Imo, he is the best action and combat writer in the Black Library, and probably the third best author for character development. Dan Abnett has the best plots, McNeill has the best action. Normally I wouldn't of been sold on a LoL novella, but this is a MUST BUY for me day one. I can't believe that you guys got my favorite author to write for my favorite game. So fucking psyched!

: Team looking for Coach
Hey Scary, sent you a game invite so we could talk one on one. But a little bit about me, I was the team Captain for my platinum 1 team last season (we had a mid diamond team mmr, winning 35-40 per win and loosing 8-10 per loss) and I was ranked mid plat personally. I really love the competitive side of league, and having played in numerous tournaments last year and amateur leagues I have a lot of background with the competitive scene. That being said right now I don't have as much time to play, only able to get one or two games a night in most nights, and I've taken to analyzing professional games and really working on that side of the professional scene. I'd love to try my hand at coaching, and I think I would be quite good at it. The only problem here is I would only be available on the later half of your practices. I get off work around 9:30~ EST so if you'd be willing to wait until then to go over things with me, and we could talk as a team post practice I think that could work. Get back to me on League if you want to talk more. While I don't have the exact ranking you are looking for my understanding and game knowledge are immense, and I feel I can be of a real value to your team in that regard. Most coaches don't play the game at the level of their players often times after all.

However, the player that failed to connect gets the same LeaverBuster penalty. I feel like LP loss in ranked games should be lowered in the case of AFKS. That being said, so long as Riot still has faulty internet issues then leaverbuster shouldn't be an automated process. WE have all experienced when Riot is having a bad week, or being DDOSed, or just simply doesn't like you and wont let you reconnect. I strong believe that AFKs need to be punished, but the massive spike in ping and packet loss over the last 4-5 patches needs to be fixed. (My ping has jumped from an average of 65-75 to 110).

: Shield show the capability to beat the top OGN teams including the former champion, I doubt EDG can do that, all Korean teams are the best teams coming to worlds.
I completely disagree, I've watched all the LPL and OGN games over the last two months and to say that OGN is going to come totally dominate is an overstatment. EDG has been taking games off all the top Korean teams in scrims, and I'm sorry there isn't an bot lane in Korea that can beat out NaMei and Fzzf or Uzi and Zero. That being said I feel Star Horn and EDG are going to have a tough time of it to beat out the Korean teams. But I think top five is 1. Samsung Blue 2. EDG 3. Samsung White 4. Najin White 5. Starhorn. But all these teams I feel can take down one another. (though star horn is the weakest of them all and I don't see taking down blue unless Uzi just straight up dismantles them bot lane which is really doubtful, blue is just to good.) Though its clearly a Chinese and Korean worlds this year, its going to be exciting to watch to see how EDG stacks up vs White in the first match of worlds, and arguably the best match we are going to see for the first week!
: I really think gogoing should be higher than 17. He's one of the most stable top laners i have ever seen, great decision and great skill. If gogoing is only 17, then what about dyrus or soaz, i think they should be around 17 and gogoing around 10.
Keep in mind this isn't top in their role. This is top out of ALL roles. And # 17 player in the world is really high. That being said the only top laner who should be rated above Gogoing is Save. So I will be shocked if Dyrus and Soaz are on this list at all. (And even then I'd rate Ackerman as a better play maker then Dyrus. Though Dyrus is the most consistent top laner in NA, i think Ackerman and Dyrus are pretty dead even in skill just different styles.)
: rekkles will be top 10 i think, but i'm not sure about other adcs that i've been mention
I think top 10 is over stating it. Top 15 most likely. While I whole heartedly think he is the second best player in EU (Froggen being number one) I think the top ten will largely be rounded out by Dade, Save, NaMei, Uzi, Cool, and a few other asian players with maybe one or two spots going to the west in the form of Meteos and Froggen.

: I agree, at first i though WildTurtle was better, but looking back on the previous seasons, the consistency of Sneaky and how he transitions his champs from safe supportive AD champs to the most aggresive ones. Sneaky is not as flashy as other ADCs but he still manages to produce great results.
Sneaky is the NA equivalent to Reckless (Who i completely expect to make this list along with Uzi and NaMei for the bot lanes. ) Super safe, super consistent player that you don't really notice until they are just ungodly fed. While China may have be best botlane, I think Sneaky and Reckless will be the ones to fair the best in worlds against them.
: Good question! No, Summoners, the Fields of Justice and the Institute are not canon within the fictional world of Runeterra. In-game, players are still referred to as summoners - but summoners won't be part of the story.
I am going to have to completely agree with other people here. Getting rid of the summoner's and the Institute of War. In fact I think you're doing yourself a disservice for some really interesting story element if you just retcon it away. What if the summoners weren't as powerful as they have been portrayed and say... Noxus? Or Syndra, or maybe even the Void, attack and kind of destroy the Institute of War, creating new armies, factions, and events where the lore has to adapt and the world has to change as it suddenly becomes violent again and filled with war and betrayal? I feel like you're just shooting yourselves in the foot having to go back and change ALL the lore, then start fresh. When instead you could expand upon it, and take the narrative of maybe Vel'Koz figured out their weakness and destroyed them for a quest of knowledge. Idk, just a lot of options that don't destroy everything the community knows and loves with just a big sweep of "yeaaaah. We're bored with this! BYEEE!" *deletes the entire history of the world.*
: Gambling? With all the kids who play this game, I don't think it's very good.
This isn't gambling. Gambling involves the risk of loss. For it to be gambling it would have to be "put 15 RP down in order to possibly win 30." This would be more like a streak reward. "Have the highest (whatever) win 15 Rp!" kinda deal.
