I agree that she lacks a story to properly set her up in whatever's happening in Ionia. But it doesn't change anything to what I said - the potential is there. She hasn't had an impact _yet._ You can't convince me that someone born with such tremendous power won't have any impact. I do acknowledge that her lore update left a big hole in that she's currently in a vacuum. But I am a patient man, and a color story should come for her at some point. If everything goes well, before next Autumn. All that to say - I still stand by everything I wrote earlier!

: Mmh... I think there is no "best written lore". Some champions appeal more than others, and for various reasons. If those are your criteria, alright. But they are way too generic, and something most champions should/will have (given your whole point is about "if they got more lore added"). See, funnily enough, not so long ago our lord and savior Scathelocke wrote this > Some Sunday thoughts. The minimum - MINIMUM! - level of authentic worldbuilding for a group/faction/character is basically: > >1) What do they believe in/want? > 2) Why do they think it's a good thing? > 3) Why might others disagree? > 4) What's currently preventing them from succeeding? This isn't about "best written lore" but rather... Well what's written there really. For MOST champions you can find something. And from there on, it's up to personal preferences. Garen? I loathe Garen. I don't like his values, the character isn't interesting to me. The tale of troubled siblings? I'd rather see the heartbreaking reunion and make up story of Kayle and Morgana. A strong warrior? Why not, I myself am more of a huge magical power person - I'd prefer the huge magical potential of Syndra being developped throughout stories. Human warrior? Some prefer gods or ugly creatures. All in all it really comes down to personal preferences really. Some may find Garen's story too simple to like it, and would prefer some more original stories about Celestials or Spirit Realm, etc. I think there is potential for everyone, but not everyone sees the potential in these characters. I could write down an essay about why I think Syndra's lore could be better than Garen's, but ultimately you (and other people) may disagree and not see what I see in her, which is fine.
Syndra hasn't got enough going for her in the current world, if the zed x syndra meme were even kinda true I think she would feel more grounded because right now she's like edgy powerful mage lady that's not really had any impact I'm my opinion

: >The only way they would really get people to play it is to offer incentives, which they did (Golden Chroma for Victorious skin). I find it important to point out that Riot also *disincentivized* playing TT. It took over a year for TT and ARAM to get Champion Mastery. Not only did RGM modes get the Mastery system earlier, they also had Mastery tokens for a while as well. In contrast, TT players have never had access to Mastery token drops. Furthermore, Event Passes have been awarding event tokens for all games (including TFT) *except for Treeline matches*. Plus a (frequent) lack of Mission eligibility for Treeline. For instance, the Missions commemorating the start of Ranked Season 2019 explicitly required "5v5 games." In other words, Riot deemed that playing ARAM to celebrate the start of this ranked Season was more fitting than playing Ranked Treeline.

: The small map size is pretty core to the game mode, not sure how they could keep that and add everything in that the guy wants.
Make the map slightly larger while changing boots base speed to make it still feel easy to get from point a to point B

Put the dragon pit on the opposite side of the map got it let's make TT into SR.
Carrying over traits of the core game and expanding upon them in a new environment would be a nice way to revitalize treeline in my opinion as long as they keep the core principles the same

I think even with this it's not like it's gonna be a mass exodus to twisted treeline, it will just make it popular enough to keep around and make it more approachable for a wider variety of comps Either way it's worth a shot

: Is Reworkes Pantheon's E a good idea?
It blocks everything in front of him, in team fights if he puts it up just flank him {{champion:35}} {{champion:121}} {{champion:114}} {{champion:39}} and champs that can kite in general are pretty good against him And he can already absorb tower shots passively so no at least it has a cool down rather than being determined by attack speed and ability usage

: > Respect is something you earn. Not something you have or you own. That's incorrect. Everyone deserves a bare minimum of respect. It's called manners and human decency. What is to be earned, is trust and total respect beyond that. Similarly, they could also lose respect from that minimum floor. If everyone has to go out of their way to impress you before you would give them the barest minimum of acknowledgement, then you're just an asshole. This is especially true since most people who say this kind of nonsense don't equally apply the same logic onto themselves when it comes to their own interaction with other people.

This is especially true since most people who say this kind of nonsense don't equally apply the same logic onto themselves when it comes to their own interaction with other people. U don't get my respect for free, you get seen as an equal human being bare minimum, you have to earn my respect because otherwise ones respect can be earned and lost, you can't just have my respect for free because that's like saying "despite the world we live in and everything you know to be true I'm a good person" and sure maybe you are if so you can prove it and in doing so earn my respect.

: **"At the end of the day, this is just another meta shift"** I think this statement is a bit too cold. Imagine how players who main ADC feel.
: Hey, thanks for the response. What do you mean when you say the fundamentals of the position have been changed? The role is still played in the exact same way -- none of the champions have been changed. At most some of them have different items and different (generally later) power spikes than before. Champions like Kai'Sa, Lucian, and Ezreal are still perfectly viable along with a few others like Jhin and Xayah who can fit plenty of team compositions. I don't feel like that number of ADCs being viable is any less than most metas? Don't get me wrong -- definitely crit ADCs have been nerfed, but I'm just not seeing this "fundamental" change you are talking about. Is it maybe they have to face mages in lane now? Does that drastically change how they're supposed to play their own role? Even at the pro level, ADCs are still played as much if not more than bruisers and mages. I don't think it's a black or white situation of "if you can't play mages, then you're out!" I don't think it's a wildly outrageous expectation to ask them to pick up some mages, though -- it's not absolutely required, but it does give their teams more options. As for sports -- of course some of the examples aren't going to be perfect, but I do think we saw the likes of Thabeet and Hibbert fall off absolutely suddenly in the NBA. We saw Whiteside benched in critical moments at the end of games last year. We saw the spread offense consume college sports in the matter of a decade (teams who were slow to adopt kept losing). Things like net sizes being changed or hand checks or AR or small tweaks to what refs choose to call or not call also have immediate and noticeable changes to the game. Or when the NBA introduced the 3 point line, or when they moved it closer and then back farther. Or the NFL increasing protections for receivers. There are countless examples.
I cannot protect an adc from Swain or Brand Building protection doesn't feel like it does anything anymore Can't counterplay mages that can burst me at level 2-3 even if they don't have damage items It feels like playing traditional support or marksman get you flamed and dominated Why did it change to this? Why Riot want to make games so short and one sided?
: No... but also yes. (Crap, I seem to be saying that a lot recently.) So I was the narrative design / writer for Rakan's character, VO, bio and color text. Creating a character's voice isn't really a science it's alchemy at best. I can't speak for writers in general but for me it's an odd blend of, historic research, mythological research (including doing a Jungian breakdown of the archetype), psychological research; taking parts from my own--somewhat bizarre checkered--past; using my family; my friends, and sometimes TV/Film character vocal performances (strangely never games). I begin mix these all together in my head, and begin writing story sketches. These short stories try and find the character's voice and often take many tries and are refined as the game kit changes. I compared these with the archetypes the team was looking at with a variety of media figures (which display current versions of the archetype). At the same time, I begin monologuing --literally wandering around and trying to talk in the character's voice-- (trying different accents, tones, rhythms etc...) Basically trying to figure out how the character thinks and what they want/need. Eventually, I can "do the voice". --which I am frequently called upon to do while pitching/and performing it in riot. Doing the voice helps gain alignment and buy-in on the VO personality. And only after I can "do the voice" do I write the VO. The color text-- is sometimes a modified version of the last "story sketch" i used to find the voice or a whole new short story displaying that psychological state now that I can perform it. (then it's directing/working with an actor and other steps...) Soooo... that means... Rakan contains a lot of me in my late teens early twenties, combined with several of my friends (2 women and 2 men), and a member of my extended family. Several of the people on that list had ADD and Manic- or manic depressive behaviors. And I did research those behaviors but only because certain people I knew were prone to that sort of thing... "and when they were drunk that one time in philly it was perfect for Rakan..." So creating a ADHD character wasn't a goal --it was something I arrived at backwards but then realized it was a part of him and wanted to make sure the character was psychologically accurate (i.e. A bit larger than life but still kinda realistic). That said-- I think part of what is important about Rakan (and makes him an unique hero) is he certainly is somewhat ADHD but he's also **extremely** emotionally intuitive, empathetic, and amazingly present. So although Rakan find's making plans boring and focusing hard, simultaneously he is alive in the moment and hyper-aware of what everyone around him is truly feeling.
Rakan good though I like, you did good on him {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-thumbs}} Should make more like Rakan
