The only thing they power gate is your ultimate and in a team fight the quickest way to build them is with your W. They don't encourage skill expression. You either ultimate and have reduced damage or ultimate and have a lot of damage on Demonflare but no ability to keep people in place or out heal periods of high damage. The soul shards as they stand currently, as I said, only affect his ultimate and its damage. That isn't player skill expression.

The very often lack of counterplay in dota2 effects deletion by numerous heros even if their damage isnt super instant. Primarily it's the turning mechanics, vision mechanics, and blink dagger.

The very often lacking counterplay in dota2 effects deletion by numerous heroes even if their damage isn't super instant. Primarily it's the turning mechanics, vision mechanics, and blink dagger. Virtually everything in Dota 2 has a counter to it. If you're being crowd controlled to near death by enemy abilities and not items like Basher or Monkey King Bar's proc effects buy a Black King Bar. It gives you extra beefiness and an initial ten-second immunity to all magic damage, leaving only physical attacks and pure damage able to affect you. If you're dying that much due to vision then you need to buy wards as part of the game, just like this one, is vision control. You can argue that Dota 2 is more imbalanced than League because of fed Agility carries deleting people end game like Phantom Assassin but it's no real different than somebody like Zed jumping on you from out of nowhere with Youmuu's, Duskblade, Electrocute and a combo to murder pretty much any squishy character in League.

While there are characters with high base damage on their ultimates like Lina and Lion, they come at a pretty taxing mana cost and have high cooldowns of it.

: We're definitely not looking at this as an easy thing to do, but I also don't think it's impossible. I'm also seeing a lot of people latching onto the idea we'll only be focusing on melee champs. I'm also seeing a lot of people latching onto the idea we'll only be focusing on melee champs. More mages is another thing I'd be really happy to see in the botlane (how do we get more Ziggs types down there?) Well to accomplish something like that you're going to have to take a look at item diversity and the Runes Reforged system, as well as what kind of champions you want to take into the bottom lane for example. The biggest roadblock for the team and you are going to be the item diversity in League of Legends. Why take a mage bot lane when you can easily farm up the gold and carry as an ADC with item combos like {{item:3031}} and any of the crit items like {{item:3046}} {{item:3087}} {{item:3094}}. Especially given how easy it is with Runic Shield and Fleet Footwork, which you're hopefully already addressing. Part of why it works in games like Smite and Dota 2 is because they have characters like Lina, Chronos, and Freya who can scale with attack speed as well while augmenting them with abilities or having situational builds. Virtually everything in a game like Dota 2 is situational in build; That is, no hard carry actually builds the exact same thing every game save for core items that take priority over others. Medusa would love items like Linken's Sphere because of how it works with her ability kit and the stats it gives her but won't always buy Daedelus because she benefits more, ironically, from caster items like Scythe of Vyse due to her Mana Shield. Even characters like Lina or Windranger will buy Eul's Scepter because it functions as a disable for either yourself similar to Zhonya's or to make landing your abilities easier on the enemy, such as your own disables. _That_, in my eyes, is what's enabling the skepticism. Especially since every time Marksmen mains cry foul about something stifling their ability to hard carry, Riot has in the past been pretty quick in order to placate them and reinforce this pretty stale meta for the past seven or eight competitive years. Mordekaiser bottom lane worked for a bit on the Worlds stage but he got nerfed due to the strength of the nuke on his Mace of Spades. If only most of his power budget wasn't restricted on the gimmick of the Dragon ghost and the fact that he almost **always** has to buy something like {{item:3146}} similar to {{champion:84}} {{champion:7}} {{champion:55}} simply because of how good it is on him he'd be more fun to play. I say that as a person who's played this game from a number of accounts and ever since Innervating Locket Udyr was a thing. Like I said earlier, I'll be watching with rapt attention but I'm not going to hold my breath for anything spectacular. Know better than that by now but do hope the best for you all because I do want to see the meta game evolve past its current state of bottom lane Marksmen instead of fun stuff like Azir and Nunu bottom.

We can accomplish this goal in quote a few ways, just a matter of finding/picking the right ones You'll have to forgive my skepticism on the idea of bottom lane melee carries since the idea of a safe lane doesn't exist in League of Legends and never has. That's probably one of the very _few_ things that Defense of the Ancients does better than this game because you don't always need a ranged carry depending on your team comp. But of course, the only time melee carries seem to have existed in the pure "right click" form are either Master Yi or Tryndamere. I'll be watching your progress but I sure as all get-out won't be holding my breath.

If you don't like their style, you can go tanky support, lockdown support, hook support, you have many options. Vel and Brand are not among them. Here's how you identify which champion can support: if they have a large amount of utility that doesn't rely on itemization they can. If a support build/budget stifles their ability to be useful, they cannot. And now the following bit that I feel like I have to repeat over and over to all the selfish, childish people with 0 team spirit like a broken goddamn record. I'm saving this to a file so I don't have to type it out every time, seriously... This is a team game. Everybody is assigned a role that they need to do. Not all champions can do all the roles. You can't arbitrarily pick any champion to any role, because your team relies on you to do your part on it. If you pick a champion that you know is not a valid pick for the role, you are assisting the other team, by immediately weakening your own. You especially cannot troll pick if you are the jungler, the support or the adc, because not only do the rest of the team rely on you in a general manner, but other players' ability to their parts is directly influenced by you being able to do yours. Let me give you an analogy: if you are on a SWAT team and the guy who is supposed to cover your back on an operation announces that he finds the idea of fighting with a fly swatter funny and therefore intends to do so, you won't be likely to go along with it. Troll picking is one of the worst kinds of screwing with your team and is only acceptable if you have your team's consent. If you want to make all your choices arbitrarily without consideration for anybody or anything else, there are plenty of single player and 1v1 games out there to entertain you, but you don't belong in a team game. As a personal note to you, while there isn't any good justification to troll picking, picking "I troll pick because they tell me not to" is about the stupidest. "Your honor, it's true, I stabbed Mrs. Smith in the stomach with a dull potato peeler, but in my defense, I was fully justified in doing so, as she told me not to."

I'm finding it very hard to find the game fun anymore. Yasuo all over the place _even more_ after his buffs, so people flashing their Mastery on one of the most easily hatable champions in the game. ADC - {{champion:22}} {{champion:51}} Support - {{champion:16}} {{champion:37}} Junglers - {{champion:102}} {{champion:11}} for more DPS oriented {{champion:33}} {{champion:19}} for more tank/initiator oriented. Middle Lane - {{champion:1}} {{champion:55}} Top lane - {{champion:86}} {{champion:17}} Virtually all the characters with the exception of Soraka, Ashe, and Caitlyn have targeted abilities or rely on auto attacks to make it easier for them to play. You don't want to introduce a newbie to something like {{champion:157}} or {{champion:92}} because there are mechanical nuances that take time and dedication to learn. Completely agree with you. True damage like from {{champion:103}} {{champion:11}} {{champion:122}} {{champion:421}} {{champion:86}} {{champion:31}} is flat damage based on certain mechanics like Fury, the amount of health missing, or the number of passive stacks. HP % true damage {{champion:114}} {{champion:67}} can be frustrating to play against because it tends to be overwhelming in lane and in later game scenarios when in the case of Vayne she's not only proccing True Damage nukes for 12% of your max health, but is also critting you.

It is in the same terms when playing against them maybe not in the fun aspect of playing against but in the aspect of testing your skill playing against. Yet players complain about having to play and try harder then usual against the champion and then believe it is a toxic kit. It is the fact that players have to work hard stay on their toes and the fact that it is their skill against anothers in their purest form. It is the same idea with counters in most cases it should be a stomp but again skill is tested to see which player takes advantage of the champion to the fullest. It is the fact that players have to work hard stay on their toes and the fact that it is their skill against anothers in their purest form. It is the same idea with counters in most cases it should be a stomp but again skill is tested to see which player takes advantage of the champion to the fullest. It is a test of skill and I believe CertainlyT champions do this in both sense for the player playing the champion and the one playing against it. Playing against a champion like Yasuo or Zoe is hardly a test of skill when their kits are so burdensome and over-designed. Darius and Kalista present a better test because their fights are measured in more than a few ability casts in many cases.

Well that's tough titties for him because he's proven that he can't make a balanced champion without heavy supervision. Yasuo is still the most polarizing champion to ever be released and people act like it's okay (Especially Yasuo mains) for him to have as much free stuff as he has.
: I love how people are mad at a designer for making fun to ply champions that require more skill to play then the average yet ppl complain about them thinking that the champion is op when it entirely depends on the player. It makes the player accountable while the other player is more accountable too, to outplay them. Yet no one wants to take into account their own skill because they never think they can ever lose to anyone. But what does it matter I will get downvoted anyway.

That is literally how none of CertainlyT's champions feel to fight against. There's only so much suspension of disbelief that can be used when fighting against one of his champions. {{champion:122}} is probably one of the few _balanced_ characters he had a hand in designing because he's easy to kite and relies on his passive stacks as well as positioning. You can button mash on Zoe and Zed in low-level games and still do extremely well.

I just don't want to get truly one shot. Ugh... try {{item:1412}} {{item:3147}} {{item:3026}} /{{item:3814}} (Depending on which one you need more) {{item:3031}} {{item:3142}} and boots. Rengar doesn't need crit chance since his ultimate already gives him a guaranteed one similar to how Shaco's Q works. He's still going to delete you if he catches you out and you're a squishy. That's his entire purpose.
ESeTyRC (NA)
: Agreed. Some things you left out about his newest mess, Zoe, that fall under "handholding": Q's projectile gets to be held for quite a while before having to recast. One would think it needs to be instant or at least only a moment after it reaches maximum range, but nope. Stays there for a while. W gives a massive movement speed boost. As if stealing enemy summoner spells and getting free spells and item actives from minions AND doing damage wasn't enough. E has the same effectiveness from point blank as it does from afar. Xerath's E was nerfed for point blank ranges, but apparently it's ok on Zoe.. even though she can pop up to your face as well as throw it extra long ranges from fog. E also has a cooldown refund. No idea why that is necessary. They even removed Jhin's ultimate cooldown reduction for unused shots, and his ult is less lethal than Zoe's E. Get hit by E, you're going to die to Q + auto, or damn well close to it.

Get hit by E, you're going to die to Q + auto, or damn well close to it. I actually find it pretty easy to hate CertainlyT's designs when they're presented with characters like Zoe. I find it pretty ridiculous that not only is her W on a low cooldown, but it also functions relatively similar to Ahri's W. Summoner spells and active items are supposed to be some pretty big game changers for whoever uses them, and seeing a Zoe win through minion RNG to get a level 3 Gunblade active on W is pretty damned irritating. Yes, she does happen to be stupidly easy to kill if you catch her out and she doesn't use her Sleep on you, but she still has that steroided Nidalee spear that she can _redirect for 3 seconds after casting_. Like, seriously, if he's never allowed to touch a champion design again or has to do it under heavy supervision I'd be happy, because while they are fun to play (I do like me some Darius on top because of the power fantasy of basically being a heavily armored Barbarian) you can tell they exist only to tilt the enemy player. You can't have your cake and eat it too when it comes to champ design.
: Im Dont With League Until Its Fixed
I would say that after tonight I'm gonna stop playing until they either reign in CertainlyT's bullshit or he actually designs a champion that's fun to fight against, but I'd have better luck shouting at the clouds.

What Supports even use Kleptomancy when Summon Aery and Guardian exist? But why? Also, there are at least three Keystones I can see working on Ezreal. Press the Attack - Can easily get the three autos off, his Q may proc the stacks, don't know yet. Phase Rush - See PtA, hitting three abilities would give him huge move speed to weave and run around. Kleptomancy - RNG that procs off of Q hits. Abused to all unholy hell. You would think that Riot would just remove the fact that his Q gets a reduced cooldown whenever it hits something and nothing else about his kit. {{sticker:sg-ezreal}}
: Yasuo is an image of Riots incompetence
He's by far the most cancerous trash to ever come into League. Why CertainlyT is still allowed to design champions at all is beyond me. Yes, they're **fun** for whoever's playing them, but a nightmare for everybody facing them.
Mogarl (NA)
: Tbf {{champion:19}} turned out pretty good. it may only be a single champion but his track record for updating champions is still better than creating new ones.

Warwick only turned out okay because they had him on a leash.
: Riot August is designing champions again
Anything is better than the cancer that CertainlyT creates. Jhin is by far one of the most interesting and fun champions.
Barkley (NA)
: Zoe is not OP. She's horrible to play against. There's a difference.
So she's basically every CertainlyT character ever? The main issue with her is her E over her pseudo-Nidalee spear as well.
MantraQ (NA)
: > EDIT: I understand the Varus (the darkin) is not Gay, but the people that inhabit him are. It STILL doesn't change the fact that we are tossing away characters for the sake of "We need a more diverse cast of characters." Does it matter? You wouldn't care if those people inhabiting him were straight so why do you care if they are gay? It's 2017. The reality is, some people are and will be gay. Some characters are and will be gay. Riot has gay employees. League of Legends has a gay player base. Riot has catered to the specific player groups of League before. What's wrong is they are doing it now? What is wrong with having gay characters for the sake of diversity? Rakan and Xayah have a very intended relationship. Their gameplay is even intertwined with that principle. But no one said that was forced. Why? Because it is a heterosexual relationship and being straight is the norm. Imagine if Xayah was a man. You would probably say it would be forced then. All I see is discomfort with the topic of having homosexuality leak into characters. I could be wrong but Varus' lore has never stated that he has had a wife. It's said that he has had a family and a son (from his Judgement). It seems like you have a problem with the inaccuracy in your preconceived notions that a man who has a son or family is straight.

What is wrong with having gay characters for the sake of diversity? > The reason why people care is that the fact that Val and Kai are gay is something that is in direct conflict with Varus' motivation in the pre-retcon lore. The underlying theme of vengeance for a loved one is still there since the two men clearly have romantic feelings for one another. The problem that I have is that it was simply an unnecessary lore retcon that has nothing of value added to the character's gameplay. I'd rather game companies not pretend to be morally obligated to add to force diversity like this because it doesn't allow the story to evolve organically, or the setting. Case and point: People flipping out over Tracer being gay or Symmetra being autistic.
: Horrible inconsistency with Varus' lore
Well, I guess you're half-right. His Q is about the straightest thing about him currently, and that's okay.
