: Playing High/Drunk in Ranked should be bannable
: Riot's been pretty good about letting some of the classic quotes bleed into the Champions post-VGU. Whether it's Urgot's "_I detect the presence of scum._", Swain's "_You dare oppose Noxus?_", or Aatrox's "_FIGHT! OR BE FORGOTTEN!_". Generally helps to not get hasty if a quote doesn't immediately show.
Helps in what way? They've been alright about it, recently. Usually opting to keep one quote out of the script. I suppose I'm still salty about Eve. Did I jump the gun? Yea. Should I apologize? Yea, alright. Am I satisfied with the script work? Not really.
: I think the OP is making the age-old mistake of pulling exclusively from the [Special Interactions](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ3rQfRRGtk) videos, which typically only involve unique triggers (roaming through jungle, first approach lines, taunt vs. champion, etc.), but don't have all the stand-alone lines (like solitary/undirected taunts, joke quotes, etc.) I've heard the taunt in question used in both the Nottingham Ezreal and Frosted Ezreal skinspotlights, so really it's just an issue of the OP not looking in the right places.
I watched the classic video lines and the special interactions video. Appears I was mistaken. Guess some champs get to keep their classic quotes and some don't.

With Zoe, she was just always like that and now her aspect mentality encourages her erratic behaviour. With Jayce...well I don't think it's ever explained. But with Ez, he's got a lot of problems in his background and psychological issues from growing up. What he is makes sense. Think of him as teenage Indiana with more personal problems, Mommy _and_ Daddy issues, and extreme lack of maturity. When he reaches his 30s, after getting in lots of trouble and going through more personal troubles such as seeing the true consequences of his actions (like getting severely injured or losing a loved one), he'd probably be left with his adventurous attitude minus the recklessness. If Riot is bold enough, I think they can take the character far with development and growth. Yea sure. You might write more, but what we have in game is permanent. We've never gotten a "chapter two" unless it was a total excuse like Gangplank. So, one out of 140+ champs. Oh boyyy...

: That's the point of bringing attention to it even if it's in a small way even if it doesn't change anything. People give up too easily nowadays whether it be in life or in-game.
Attention had been brought to the death recap multiple times throughout the years. Riot has said it isn't worth the development time. It's really not that pressing of an issue and Riot made their stance clear.

Unfortunately, that's a big trend when it comes to diversity hires for the sake of diversity rather than actual talent. Look no further than college enrollments. That means we have Valoran, Ionia, and the Shadow Isles confirmed as the Runeterran continents. Next questions: what is the shape of Runeterra itself, and where do these continents lie on it?
Considering that in the recent stories Riot has put out, they mention something along the lines of "from Shurima to Valoran." I'm assuming Shurima is likely a major one rather than the shadow Isles.
: exactly i said "I DON'T THINK" i wasn't direct about what i said everyone has his own opinions and things they want around here Am not forcing anything to anyone and pretending to know anything or that Leona and Diana are above and beyond anybody else in the rift i just love Diana and i dont think many other champions in the game have as bid and deep story as Diana and Leona and that they would be a perfect fit for the VS event thats all
Right. I believe you like the Diana vs Leona theme. I'm just trying to explain why people have gotten hostile. Once you admitted you knew nothing about Jayce and Viktor but said it wouldn't be as good (and arguments could be made for both themes) as Leona and Diana, it made you come off as intellectually dishonest. I think in your first response you were trying to keep the conversation going and wanted to expand on your idea, but people latched onto the "I like my theme more" bit.
: DUDE I just said that i don't know these champions and that i wont to see Diana VS Leona event happen as i don't care or know any other champions and these two in particular have so much history and everybody wants to see the Diana VS Leona event happening as you can CLEARLY see from the poll. Don't be this triggered i dot know the champions you are mentioning in your comment or even played them before that's why i am not mentioning them or get into conversations about them cuz i wouldn't know what the hell i would be talking about if i did other then that this is a post about suggesting and putting awareness out there about the Diana VS Leona Event and my expectations and how i want to see this event happen nothing more nothing less
I think the issue is that you said "But i dont think they have a more strong thematic then Diana and Leona." After conceding you don't know anything about Jayce and Viktor. And then you defend your stance saying that's just what you want and disagreeing is mean after disagreeing with him. Like what?

: New Aatrox looks kinda lame tbh
Nothing has changed. He was a lamer before, he's lame now.
: Nobody argues that it does not fit the backstory, it's just not the Aatrox some people were attached to. Plus that ALIEN WARGOD OF DESTRUCTION AND RAGE is something EVERY 12 year old comes up with, it takes some more effort making a nuanced character.
"Plus that ALIEN WARGOD OF DESTRUCTION AND RAGE is something EVERY 12 year old comes up with, it takes some more effort making a nuanced character." Literally all the complaints Aatrox had as a character on release. So really, Riot kept true to the original, lame design.

Because it makes him seem "foreign" and otherworldly to have an accent.

: Because of what was lost. Stoic character who seemed to have a wisdom and a restraint to his actions completely and utterly absent from all the other Darkin. He even had a poised, meticulous body language to go with it. You could tell there was more to him than just fighting and war. It almost seemed like it was but a means to a still greater end. But now he's a Saturday morning cartoon villain who boasts too much and tries too hard. If he didn't swear, I'd say he's designed for a little kid. They even made his animations cartoonishly over the top, and anime-esque.
As much as I sympathize, Aatrox had literally zero body language to go with the theme of a stoical demon.

: I was listening to Aatrox' new VO and thought "Everyone is gonna hate it sooo much"
I've hated Aatrox's design and VO since his launch. I've always hated his puckered up, lipstick laden lips. I thought he was generic as all fuck. I could never understand his mumbling. Now, I LOVE his new voice voer. It has so much personality and I think the accent was a wonderful touch. The voice really makes him feel otherworldly, like he's from somewhere else. However, I've been through the grinder of having my favorite champions deleted, gone from the game never to return and I can't help but feel sympathy for the Aatrox fans that feel like they've head their champion ripped from them. I'd love for Riot to meet the fans halfway, but I know from experience there's literally no chance. Sorry guys, welcome to the club. :/

: Wow, this lore update is getting utterly shit on by the community, maybe I should go read it and see what all the fuss is about... Edit: Just finished reading it and it is indeed unimaginative and boring. Too bad. Edit edit: Although maybe we should cut them some slack, these character bios are extremely constrained in size. Maybe they'll expand further with a good color story.
Yea, **maybe**. Just like with Trundle! Gotta tell that chapter 2 in 6 more years.
: But it is the same as her older lore?!? Either that or the section dedicated to champions "previous lore" on the wiki is wrong. But i highly doubt that.
: Her new story just... doesn't work imo. There's something really satisfying about someone who is peaceful, but can and will kick ass when necessary. This idea of the voices disappearing after she killed invaders who sought to harm her land is just... confusing. The story seems like an excuse to make her a passive entity in Runeterra. No wonder Irelia is mad at her. No wonder no other champs in the game (except Illaoi) have anything to say to her. I've come away from reading that bio wondering why she even exists. "Killing would always be easy, but came at the cost of true enlightenment." Can we please unpack this? What does that even mean and how does it make sense? Is it referring to killing needlessly/without a just purpose, or at all? What is "true enlightenment"? There's a lot I want to say about that story, but I'd rather not jump the gun. This story might end up leading to Karma finding the path in-between, perhaps Darha will come through and find "true enlightenment" - which isn't being a pacifist who has to seek "penance" for taking out a hostile. I don't know, but that bio doesn't bode well.
Also, who gives a shit if the voices left? How am I, as a reader, supposed to care about that? Those are really the stakes? So fucking what if the voices leave? I don't give a shit about the voices. Give Karma real stakes. Give Karma real motivation. Give Karma a reason to even BE a character rather than "Hurr hurr look at me, I'm side character for Irellia to be better than!" Like, what the fuck Riot?
: It's because America as a culture is pretty laid back. Take our education system compared to other countries...Our standards are really low. If you want to excel that's your own prerogative, whereas in other countries like Korea there's huge pressure to.

: I just think it would be hard to differentiate between Classic Ahri and this Eve skin at a glance. The outfits are almost identical outside of Eve's longer sleeves and they both have long shapes coming out behind them (tails and whips).
Eh, the silhouettes are pretty different. Ahri runs with arms up front with a magic orb and Eve runs with her hands back. Ahri has dark hair. Eve has light hair. Ahri uses lots of blues in her spells while Eve is more associated with pink hues. Ahri's trails and Eve's lashers don't read too similarly. If Classic Diana and Warden Sivir both exist in-game then Blood Moon Eve should hardly pose a problem.
: I don't think Aspects is a terrible idea, it just sucks on Pantheon. People were more upset at Leona and Diana for having their personalities retconned before the possession.
On Pantheon it sucks because it's never who the character was. He was always just a manly, not-spartan, badass. We thought we were reading his new lore until the last few sentences of his bio until we were bait-and-switched. Leona and Diana have extremely conflicted personalities outside of the game. Leona is warm and protective in-game but firey and vindictive in lore. Diana is resentful and dark in-game but curious and innocent in the lore. It really is a mess. The "easiest" way to fix the discrepancy would be to make the color stories match the in-game depiction since writing new lore would be less costly/disruptive than writing new lines and having to hire new actors and record a bunch of new audio for every region.

: So I'm probably going to comment and run (prepping for a board-game session with friends - Pandemic Season 2 for those in the know) but before I go, I'd like to ask a question that I know has the danger of stirring a lot of anger. The Aspects. I know that the 'space parasite' meme is real, and a lot of folks on the Boards here would rather none of that was ever introduced. I've read enough threads to know. Personally, I don't have a horse in this race, but I'm trying to be sympathetic to the folks who like it, AND the folks who don't. (I.e. plz don't shoot the messenger - ha ha - historical war reference!) And therein lies the rub. There are folks who like the idea that the Targonian Aspects merge with their new hosts, becoming more powerful than ever before (and losing/gaining a sense of identity with it, depending on the Aspect). There are folks who hate it with the fury of a thousand suns and would prefer almost anything else. There are lots of people in between. Similarly in this thread I've seen folks who have their hate on for Mundo having never been a real, book-learned, intelligent Doctor - and others who are happy with the new orphan Mundo who just plays a Doctor on TV so to speak. What do we do in either of these situations about the fact that _any action will anger players_? If we change to the old ways, we anger the players who engaged with the new lore (as well as even further destroying any confidence folks have in new lore going forward). If we keep going with the new ways, then folks like Warlord Dienekes lose even more faith in Riot being able to, in Warlord's opinion(?) own up to mistakes and be prepared to fix them. So I ask - the high level question is - is there a winning move here? You can't please everyone, all the time, but it'd be nice to please a lot of them! If, for example, (and I am making this up on the spot) Atreus started to reassert his identity over the Pantheon identity - creating an inner conflict such as was implied by Aurelion Sol, and in the course of his battles for righteousness his previously star-sparkled cloak became torn and bloody and looked as desperate as the battles he fought in - would that start to take nu-Panth an interesting direction for the old guard? I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT THAT IS THE PLAN. NOR IS IT NOT THE PLAN - I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THE PLAN IS. But we're in a tricky situation and I want to know if there's a way to get back to the thematic pillars that folks miss, without losing the new thematics that have excited other players. I know the folks who have already commented here wouldn't but for any newcomers to the thread, please don't throw shade at the 'other' kind of player if you have strong opinions on this topic. nu-Pantheon has his fans, and old-Pantheon has his fans. The past is past, the omelette is made - but I am interested in how you, the players, want to see difficult problems like this dealt with. Lastly, asking about thematic pillars is one way to be a little more abstract about these things. It's one thing to discuss whether a character should be an orphan or not - it's another to discuss whether they should be Tragic, Unaffected, or Cheerful.
I think the whole "erasing someone's individuality" is never going to be particularly popular for people. Can you name one mainstream "hive mind" character that's popular on their own rather than a foil for another character? Someone who isn't themselves anymore, in a literal sense, just isn't a popular thematic. No one wants to lose who they are, it's the only thing we ever really own; ourselves. I don't think the theme really resonates with players. Might this might be more so with Western audiences? I haven't seen much data from other cultures but I know that there's a large focus on liberal values here in the West. Combined with an already unpopular theme, it's been spread to 3 or 4 characters. Yeesh, that's a lot of the same thing going on. On top of all that it was done in a way that was a complete departure from already popular characters. Was that the right choice? Is the bed really made? There's been no media made that solidifies the targonian character's status as a host/avatar for a new consciousness outside of written profiles. It already seems like Riot is pulling back on the idea, desperately trying to convince players that they aren't space parasites (they totally are) and even wrote Zoe in a way that she wasn't possessed and erased inside her own body... or a creepy amalgamation of consciousnesses. Whatever. Audiences value characters that come into their own. Even if a character is handed a mighty power, we like to see how they will go about wielding such strength in a mortal form (With great power comes great responsibility. To err is human. etc.) Would we really like it if after Peter Parker got bitten he became the collective consciousness of the spider and a little bit of himself? I wouldn't. What is the winning move? I don't know. It's hard to say with retcon. The characters weren't one way before and, through no storytelling means, they have been fundamentally altered. Riot isn't shy about retcon. Using retcon again could be one solution, but that might make other fans upset since having a character you like retconned away is a terrible feeling. The other solution could be just to elaborate more on the parasite process. Maybe once some of the "space sickness" wears off the characters start settling back into their old selves. At this point, I don't see a solution that makes both sets of fans happy since Riot has already created this messy divide through some sloppy storytelling.
