The splash looks like he just broke out. His hair probably looks more like his model if he has the chance to bath or do something with it.

: Seasons on the Rift
I could see them doing that, however, it seems more likely for them to use that Dev effort for making new maps rather than continuing the winter theme. The holidays are a good time because of snow and holidays, but other seasons don't really have the same cohesive themes and fun as the winter Rift.

I mean Fiora has a full blown french accent so I think it's safe to assume you are correct. You mean western? France is in Western Europe.
: I see, essentially they're preventing the formation of a cabal of mages that would function similar to Noxus' Black Rose. It also lines up well with the Mageseekers employing Sylas' help and the Illuminators recruiting Lux. However, the nobles of Demacia possessing a secret agenda behind the discrimination of magic seems, for lack of a better term, un-demacian. I understand that is the point, however, in comparison to the idea that the discrimination of magic being a cultural flaw of demacian society passed down throughout generations seems more believable than a hidden agenda by the upper class of Demacia. Which not only feels more like a Noxian trait, it specifically pins down the root of Demacia's evil which defeats the purpose mage discrimination being Demacia's biggest flaw, because the ugly truth of the Demacian flaw is that their fear is somewhat justified and that it never will truly leave them.
Agreed, I don't think there is some secret agenda. I was just saying that at some point in this past this was the justification and over time it became culture rather than personal beliefs. The current Demacia is plagued by tradition rather than malice and I believe that is the basis of Garen's internal struggle. I think of a quote from Zed: > _**"Tradition is the corpse of wisdom."**_ The founders of Demacia saw the danger mages could bring to the nation, in several ways, and became anti-magic sentiments a part of the culture over time eventually.
: A question that might have been answered like 100 times before
Rek'Sai is not blind but she has no eyes. I imagine she sees kinda of like Daredevil. That being said, don't think you could hide from her inside her lair by not moving. Your breath, your heartbeat, even the sound of your blinking she can pick up. Not to mention she is ruthlessly intelligent when it comes to stalking. Out of everyone champ in League, Rek'Sai is by far the most terrifying.
: @Lore Team, Demacia and Italy
I would assume a lot of the names, architecture, and general aesthetic of Demacia is based on eastern Europe considering the similarities between the cultures we have seen so far. I mean Fiora has a full blown french accent so I think it's safe to assume you are correct.

: I feel very comfortable calling fraud on this one. The image used for the "chained new champ" is part of the Kayle/Morg teaser images. It specifically refers to Morgana and her current ult. If I recall correctly (and feel free to call me on it if wrong), Kayle is the only one of the two angels getting a kit rework alongside her appearance update. Morgana is getting a few minor tweaks on her kit, but is otherwise remaining the same outside of her graphical overhaul.
That image is already confirmed to be for a new champion, but the rest of it (other than the Sejuani skin) seems like bull to me.
: skins and other questions with a few opinions.
1. No one on the design team probably ever proposed a Gangster Yorick skin. 2. It's all about the flow of the game. Yorick is great 1v1 but as the game becomes more teamfight oriented, he loses some of his strength imo. 3. They thought supports were controlling the early game too much probably. 4. Balancing. Stun timers are but one of many things that they use to balance champs. 5. Although true, Riot has taken lots of steps over the years to prevent this from happening and are constantly adding more things. Overall, you should not have posted this here or split this up into separate posts. This is for **Stort, Art, & Sound** and the majority of this post is about **Gameplay** and **Player Behavior**. I would suggest you delete this post and move it there for a better audience.

: I hope this leak is fake in part.
Most likely fake, but I'm 99.999% sure Sejuani skin is a thing. That's an easy one and that's why it's first; to build credibility.
: I have a question after reading the new short story
Annullers and Mageseekers seem to have similar purpose, but I believe annullers seem to have the dual purpose of finding mages and removing/nullifying their magical capabilities while Mageseekers simply go find mages and bring them back to be executed or annulled. I assume Annullers are less combat skilled than Mageseekers based on the stories.
: This only holds true for this story. What of mages that can't use their magic to grow crops or benefit they families outside of a fight? I'd assume that the mageseekers operate throughout Demacia and not solely on the outskirts and countryside, as suggested by the hillfolk themselves.
I was just using the farming magic as an example in the context of the story. I'm also not sure how magic works considering there are spells but some people have latent magic. My general thought is that a group of mages are more likely to be able to output more goods or services than people without magic regardless of what that is. Although every mage might not have and extremely "useful" magic, if a few have a something that gives them an advantage in any field, they could slowly amass a wealth/power that could go against the heads of Demacia. Also it seems the mageseekers don't immediately kill these people considering Sylas is still alive so I assume they take into consideration using the people to fit their goals before killing them.

: Demacia isn’t Piltover. It’s not ruled by an aristocracy or a couple of noble houses. It’s ruled by one person, a King. And Quinn’s story shows a common peasant can go high in Demacia’s ladder ranking. Again this isn’t Piltover where the rich stay rich and poor stay poor. There are numerous charities and unity for Demacia but Riot for someone reason does not wish to show that any more. Demacia’s hatred of magic in the story is badly executed and super over the top. It makes Demacians look nothing but monsters. They get triggered over a flower during the winter.
I've seen you comment several times on other threads with the same arguments. For one, yes there is a king. I stated that already, but they have they do have noble families. House Crownguard with Lux and Garen. House Laurent with Fiora. The whole basis of the arranged marriage in Fiora's bio was to gain political power. And yes, we already know people can gain a higher standing by serving the agenda of the nobility as it was part of the story. That was literally the point of the entire "Demacian Heart" story. Magic can be used, as long as it serves what those in power deem acceptable. You brought nothing to this thread, but opinions you have already posted several time. I'd rather you not litter this discussion with nothing new to add.

: Shurima has gotten a lot of content this year, thanks to Aatrox and Neeko. Also, going by the date of last champion release, after Bandle the next two neediest factions would be Demacia (speculated to be the faction of chain champ) and the Shadow Isles, IIRC.
True, no Demacian champs have been added since Quinn, but Lux was getting so much attention that I didn't think about actual champ releases. Isn't Pyke a Shadow Isles/Bilgewater champ though? I doubt they would double up on those aesthetics so close together.
: With 2018 gone, I'd figure we do a checkup on how many champs we have left to get a lore update
Of that list {{champion:12}} {{champion:34}} {{champion:201}} {{champion:31}} {{champion:42}} {{champion:119}} {{champion:79}} {{champion:74}} {{champion:85}} {{champion:121}} {{champion:96}} {{champion:117}} {{champion:54}} {{champion:2}} {{champion:421}} {{champion:37}} {{champion:91}} {{champion:17}} {{champion:18}} {{champion:48}} {{champion:23}} {{champion:29}} {{champion:77}} {{champion:106}} {{champion:5}} {{champion:115}} {{champion:26}} I fell these champions need more attention considering they have virtually no presence in the world outside of the game. Bandle City is the best bet for the next lore update considering we have virtually nothing outside of Poppy and the Ziggs & Jinx comic. The next champion will probably be Shuriman considering Taliyah was last at three years ago. I think the next major event, however, will be probably be Targon considering Morgana and Kayle will likely be from Targon.
: Baron lore?
Baron Nashor as we know is a powerful creature of the Void. It comes out of the Rift in that section of summoner's rift. Considering it's name is **Baron** Nashor, I'm going to assume it is a well known creature in whatever location it is in. Also given it's form, I would assume it's a pure Void creature, that being something similar to Vel'Koz that isn't the corruption of another creature. When we get more lore about the Magelords and the Protectorate we can assume we will get more info on Baron Nashor. Possibly from the Marauder & Warden skin lines.

Kassadin used a lot of different unknown means to get the power he currently has so we don't know all the powers he could actually have in lore. That being said Kass model and abilities are really old so I would wait for a proper VU before we bring his abilities into lore discussions.
: Who else thinks that Shurima should have another update in lore?
Yeah, the lore of Shurima was expanded so much with Azir's release, the Void event, Kaisa's release, and the Darkin. Not to mention chronologically, the Resurrection of Azir in the most recent major event lore wise. Shurima is good for now. Bandle City and even Targon need to expanded on more to make them feel more a part of the world. My assumption is that Kayle and Morgana will be from the real Targon like the golden creature Leona met, but we'll see\.

: Where did the idea that Kindred is limited to Runeterra come from?
They have existed as long as people have died in Valoran as stated in their bio. Also from their story, they were one man before splitting himself in two. I would assume humans existed before the Kindred.
: @Riot, Janna's Faith
People don't worship Janna like a goddess. There is no churches for her. She is more like the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus. However, unlike children, the people of Zaun believe in Janna because they have nothing else to believe in and some have even seen her. Also, the people who pray to Janna aren't like a cult or organization. They are just people who want to believe in hope for a healthy life. The cult who follows Viktor are not directly associated with Viktor and many of those people may pray to Janna for a day without the Gray filling their still human bodies.
: very different look, very different motivations, very different fighting style. I'd put grena closer to illaoi than any other existing champ
Themes and archetypes are what matter most for story telling. Grena is basically Sejuani in that respect.
: I can't think of anyone who's really like grena… maybe a bit of olaf to her but she's obviously superior
Sejuani is literally an Iceborn clan leader wielding True Ice that rules through power. If that isn't similar in-large to Grena, I don't know what is.

: Sona just stands out to me. Demacia got a fairly big update that helped establish how anti-magic they are, while Sona got entirely ignored despite being a magically gifted adoptive child of what I assume is a noble family. I also wonder if they're actually going to keep her being a mute. It's entirely an informed trait in what little lore she currently has, and in-game there's now no summoner for her to be telepathically speaking to _(and outright removing her VO in favor of music would feel cheap, both because she's always had a 'voice' and because Bard exists)_. Though I could see her having an ability to manipulate sound to such a degree that she can "speak" using her etwahl, kinda like a living Vocaloid. Essentially letting her talk without physically talking.
My assumption on Sona is that they want to figure out how they want to handle mages in Demacia without telling the same story as Lux. Lux kinda cornered the the market battling between being herself and her culture. I think they want to tell a more unique and fleshed out story for Sona that isn't a carbon copy of Lux. That being said they do need to give her something because right now it is lacking. The only bit of "lore" we do have is that Sona knows Ryze and actively helped him in his quest.

Targon seems to be at the epicenter of a lot of things in Runterra, whether it be Ascension, the Darkin, knowledge of the Void, etc. That being said, Taric doesn't seem like he knows that much about what's going on in general. I assume this is just Taric saying that Ashe must be blessed by the stars to have reached her station and obtain her bow. the third is very unlikely as freljordian people or at least he Iceborn and True Ice is a gift of the void or at least the power to wield it
The Iceborn were given the power to control True Ice, however, True Ice was always a part of the Frejlord. Dark Ice is the corruption of True Ice by the Watchers, hence why Lissandra and Trundle use Dark Ice. This is also the idea behind Black Frost Anivia as she is made of True Ice.
: Another interesting quote to take into consideration is one Taric has toward Ashe. {{champion:44}} : "That bow is of the stars, as is its mistress." And from Lissandra's story we do know Serlyda tried to come into contact with the Targonians at one point.
There are three ways I see that quote interpreted: 1. Taric is saying everyone and everything is a part of the stars grand plan 2. Ashe is an Aspect and her bow is equivalent to Taric's Bravado/Bastion. 3. True Ice and the Frejlordian people are the products of ancient Targonian. Personally, I think the order of most logical is 1-3-2. Also, Ashes's mother is dead and Maalcrom might be too. > > That being said, they might add an Ice Mage to the game to fill the shaman archetype. Maalcrom is a male enchanter of which the closest thing in terms of design we have is Taric (who is the only Male enchanting support for some reason!) but also brings some nice design elements with his Dark/Night Magic on a still very compassionate character and dear god do I love that tribal design.. Grena has her own unique set of weapons which could make for some fun gameplay along with her amazing personality and design which seems to somewhat blend Braum and Illaoi (two of my all time favorite champions so I'm very bias on this) ready to solve any problem with her firsts, always pushing everyone to give things their all but also kind and caring in her interactions with ashe. But honestly I love her design too, being a musclebound woman (of which we only have Illoai and maybe Rek'sai thus far) I think she could make for a great addition to the cast.
Don't get me wrong, I think the all the character designs in that comic were unique and awesome, but I don't think they would add those exact characters to the game. Sejuani is the first that comes to mind when I think of battle-ready, strong woman from the Frejlord, so I don't think they would ever double dip into that. As for Maalcrom, again, I see them adding someone _like_ him, but not Maalcrom himself. It would be more logical to save that archetype to build the world more rather than using a character already in their creative ecosystem. There is an island west of the Frejlord and a large frozen mass to the north. If anything I would think they would make a totally unique character from one of those regions before using a specific character that has established interactions. Also, he was already shown to not be very powerful considering Grena almost killed him.
: Death Sworn Zed Skin Rework
Yeah, no. The point of those skins is to imagine a world where death is worshiped. Basically Karthus the skin line. In Riot's own words: **_"Having lived his life in the shadows, Zed's eventual return from the dead should have come as no surprise to anyone. A master of unliving darkness, he is only too happy to spend all eternity spilling mortal blood, as one of the Death Sworn."_** Nothing about any skins should be to improve the "smoothness" of a champion. That is the purpose of a visual update. It's to apply cosmetic differences and, more recently, build on alternate fantasies of champions.

The should honestly just add the in-game emotes as stickers.
: A theory about Ashe's bow and Swains interaction
Isn't that the only real explanation considering Lissandra knows the exact location of the body of her sisters? From what I understand, Lissandra created her own myths and legends to cover up what she had done and now no one knows fact from fiction. I believe this is why Lissandra is so interested in Nunu. Nunu's mother knows songs of the things before her made up legends and she fears he might be able to find the real grave if he finishes the song.
: @Riot Are any Characters in Warmother being considered to become Champions? [Minor Spoilers]
I doubt they would add Maalcrom or Grena. Also, Ashes's mother is dead and Maalcrom might be too. That being said, they might add an Ice Mage to the game to fill the shaman archetype.

: How powerful is Olaf Lore wise?
Olaf is a strong warrior. One of the best in the Frejlord, but I think his real strength is not his overall power but the fact that he will not die in combat, period. This means Olaf will only die of old age, but it doesn't mean he will win every fight.

: Trying to understand how spirits are created and I think I came up with a non canon-answer
Riot kind of explained this already. Basically, the spirits and demons have always existed in an incorporeal form on Runeterra. They slowly realized that could gain power by feeding on magic, prayers, fear, anguish, pain, etc. Feeding on these things made theme able to perceive and experience sensation until eventually they could manifest physically. That's the gist.
