rastarogue (NA) : They tried this either with 1v1 or 2v2 a long time ago, and found that interest fell off really quickly and the server cost to maintain was really high. Effectively instead of needing to keep one server with 10 players (normal rift or ARAM game) those players would be distributed across 5 or 3 servers which meant they needed to support a lot more games at once which became a problem in terms of resources that they were putting in for a mode that ended up not being played very much. DuskDaUmbreon (NA) : Riot's officially said they do not keep old code around. It's well within reason to assume they don't keep the old assets around either. There's probably a small bit of delay before they purge them (in case there's some bug not picked up on PBE and a revert becomes absolutely necessary because holy shit the champion literally broke everything when it hit live), but I doubt it's more than a patch or two, if they do so at all.
