: Legacy Cursor Removal
I love the old gauntlet. It's such a classic part of the game for me and I love its design and shape. I personally hate the look and color of the new one, so when I found out that you could use the legacy cursor I was ecstatic! There is no benefit to removing it, and it negatively impacts a part of the playerbase. Making multiple options for cursors is such a good idea, and it's completely optional.
: A disconnect of any nature puts your team at a disadvantage. Whether the person left on purpose, Riot borked their server, or grandma fell over the Internet, the system can't reward being absent or it will encourage people to be absent.
"A disconnect of any nature puts your team at a disadvantage." Correct "Whether the person left on purpose, Riot borked their server, or grandma fell over the Internet, the system can't reward being absent or it will encourage people to be absent." There's a fine line between rewarding a player for being absent and slicing their LP gains in half giving them a small reward if they do manage to somehow win the game despite Dc'ing and Rc'ing. As for whether the leave is intentional or not, that's mostly irrelevant. It would be nice to be able to distinguish the two since leaving intentionally is worse, but even if a person leaves intentionally if they come back and win they've done no harm, and if they have then they can enjoy some LP loss, and if it's an obvious RQ then they'll probably have RQ'ed previously a lot, and being reported for this enough will lead to their punishment.
: > Therefore, I propose that Riot would only cause an LP % reduction for Dc'ing and Rc'ing, say only a 50% reduction. Nope. There's nothing to prevent people from abusing this system. In addition, Riot was having issues yesterday and disabled ranked queues for a while. If disconnections are still happening, you should submit a support ticket. Fortunately, one or two instances of this over the course of a season will not affect your long-term climb. You'll get those LP back. And if you don't, the problem isn't with the system.
"Nope. There's nothing to prevent people from abusing this system." Dc'ing, coming back, and winning is very difficult to do. The idea of a person abusing the ability to get half the amount of LP they'd typically get in order to be able to go afk temporarily is absurd; it's consistently losing you LP, it's occasionally giving you small amounts of lp, and it's a poor tradeoff. I agree with the rest of your statement.

First thing that comes to mind for me is if WXZ - the owner of IG who played one game as an active member of the roster - considers himself a world champion having been even a mere portion of the success.
Lol, I didn't know the owner played a game. I'm watching a video of this right now and this is hilarious.

Disrespect is competitive bullcrap. I wouldn't call it bad sportsmanship since it's not serious like harassment or inting. It's also more of a joke then just a bland "easy".

: You're completely clueless, please just stop... You're just rationalizing the current dragon design by jumping through hoops and selectively ignoring aspects of the dragons as it's convenient to justify the existing system over the legacy system. First the new drakes do give consistent power, it's just a question of where they benefit the team, second the type of drake is almost irrelevant in the new system, because each benefits a team that's ahead, better recovery (useless if you lose the fight), better ganking (benefits the leading team more), multiplicative offensive stats (self explanatory), and multiplicative objective damage. > Regarding the old drakes being good for catching up, a good team won't let the enemy have a chance at stealing the drake. Bad play shouldn't really be accounted for when we're talking about these things. ALL play should be accounted for when talking about these things, and the complete dismissal of any portion of play is going to result in some absolutely dysfunctional design. Now, here's the thing, that's not even a matter of "bad play" that's a matter of good play by the losing team. If you remove the ability for the losing team to gain an advantage by playing well... then that would go a long way in explaining how predictable and snowbally the game has become.
I like how you waste your time insulting me instead of my argument. Just stop Dr. Clueless... /s The drakes don't consistently give power at least compared to the old drakes. Ocean drakes and Cloud drakes and Mountain Drakes are very inconsistent compared to the consistently of getting a percentage of power and consistent gold when they often aren't useful at all. Movement speed isn't going to be useful ANYWHERE on a lot of teams, for a lot of teams Mountain isn't useful, etc.. Also these drakes aren't strictly helping the team that's ahead though they are beneficial for the team ahead moreso. The team that's ahead is less likely to really NEED an infernal where as a team behind can use the scaling of it to change a game. Usually the ocean drakes' recovery is only substantial if you have Baron (which isn't consistent), Cloud Drakes aren't usually going to be the deciding factor of a gank (let alone anything much more impactful than that), mountains are usually pretty good, but they're better and worse at different times. Infernals are the only real consistent Drake and as I said they can help a team behind if they manage that. I don't think bad play should be accounted for since we're talking about balance. I disagree that not accounting for bad play is something that causes bad design. If a team starts playing better then they can still get back into the game. It's not removing a team's ability to come back by making it less impactful for a team to steal a Drake, it's making it less rewarding to win by punishing an opponent's mistake and focuses on winning by team outplay.
: **No... they use to provide a flat amount of Gold and Exp, nothing else until the MYMU.** You just said exactly what I had said though, the team that's behind is at a higher risk when attempting to take the dragon given that they've got lower gold invested into stats. But by this same mechanical disadvantage, the dragon is naturally worth more to them relatively speaking, so the further behind you are in the game, the more the old dragons use to be worth. Where as now, the further ahead you are, the more they're worth and the easier they are to secure. e.g. A team with 1000g getting a dragon worth 500g, gets a 50% power spikes from it, but a team with 2000g getting a 500g dragon only gets a 25% power spike. Compared to now where both teams gets the same power spike, meaning that if you get 10% more of the gold invested, then a dragon from a team with 2000g effectively gets 200g from killing it, while the team with 1000g only gets 100g, while still being at a disadvantage for taking the dragon. The new dragons are more of a snowballing objective, rather than a high risk catch up objective. It's just bad game design and needs to be reverted or changed to flat values per buff.
Oh I thought they stacked. Anyways I guess I'll rest that point then. Anyways the old drakes still gave you more consistent power than the new drakes, since the new drakes are largely based upon rng to give you more power and the old drakes consistently gave you a good bit of damage and gold and as the team ahead would usually be getting the drakes it's better for closing out the games where as with the new drakes you need to get one or two infernals for the drakes to really make the game harder for the team behind, and the drakes are heavily impacted by composition, like a team that gets a baron and has the right comp loves an ocean where as another comp wouldn't need/want it that much and another team really wants a mountain to burst down baron whereas it's not good enough and in soloQ because comps are so diverse the drakes are inconsistent in making it harder for the behind team to come back. Regarding the old drakes being good for catching up, a good team won't let the enemy have a chance at stealing the drake. Bad play shouldn't really be accounted for when we're talking about these things. Drakes also do have a catch-up experience thing for the team behind in xp.
: What about repeatedly autoing someone from afar with a 3 hit passive and having survivability gated behind a form that you can try to get before being one shot but would likely end up dead before form changing, is fun? He's basically a slightly more tanky Kennen but with stuns and tank stats gated behind a form. And no one likes playing as or against Kennen as a top main.
Mm, that's so opressive that it's fun. And my aforementioned reasons stand.
: What? They objectively weren't. They provided flat additional gold, making their reward static not multiplicative. As such, an equal amount of gold be given to one team inherently provides a proportionally greater benefit to the team that's behind rather than ahead, while being lower risk for the team which is ahead. Multiplicative buffs like the current dragons provide a benefit proportional to the amount of gold you've already earned. So a dragon which increases your AP by an easy value like 10% will provide more AP to the team who's put more gold into purchasing AP than the team which has put less gold into stats.
They provided damage buffs stacking dtn? Besides the team that's behind isn't going to be getting the drakes, that plus the stacking makes it hard for the behind team. The new stats are less reliable because it's not always infernals.
: They're also multiplicative now, meaning that they promote closing a game out rather than acting as a relatively higher value objective to the losing team.
The old drakes were more multiplicative. edit: nvm
: He's uber slept on because he's very boring to play.
Is he boring to play? He's so oppressive and such freelo and his ults and splitpushing and e are fun. At any rate he's strong.

>dragon changes cemented it for me. What use to be a little gold/exp infusion for the team became something that the team who is ahead can use to be >sure the team who is behind stands no chance. Dragon used to be hotly contested and if you got stacks of it would make sure the team who is behind stands no chance. Now dragons are a different animal (pardon the pun) and they give buffs that are sometimes huge (infernal) and sometimes change the way you play (mountain) and are sometimes extremely situational and sometimes only work if you're ahead/in laning.

I'd say that Riven is kind of like an easier Jayce. Sure, her mechanics are very hard to pull off, but Jayce is extremely complex from a thinking perspective, this is best represented by the gap of Korean and Western Jayces. I don't know if this is just me, but whenever I play riven it feels like I do no damage at all. It's just too hard to win lane with her if I don't get help from junglers. She easily gets shitted on a LOT of top lane champs. and Jayce is actually very easy for me to play. Just get aery and poke the shit out of them not letting them farm. as long as you know how to manage your mana then Jayce isn't that hard.
I wouldn't say Riven has a bad laning phase. She's pretty good against ranged champions because of her e. She can beat a lot of juggernauts as long as the Riven player knows how to play the matchups. She can do really good against bruisers as long as she uses her abilities correctly. you could make a case that Jayce has a lower skill floor, but I'd say skill ceiling being lower is better.

I don't know what you mean by same thing applies to Irelia? My point was that she didn't deserve to be higher than Jax because she's not as good. Also you could call Irelia poorly designed (and I'm inclined to agree with you), but Irelia is 100% a fun champion.

: Permabans should absolutely stay. It helps cut down the toxic people in the community/in-game. The usual punishment escalation goes like this: First offence: 10-game chat restriction Second offence: 25-game chat restriction 3rd offence: 14-day ban (although can be escalated to this immediately if hatespeech/racial/homophobic slurs etc) 4th offence: permaban. So by that alone people have 3 chances to reform between punishments, and that's quite a lot of warnings and notices that your behavior isn't okey. If people can't start behaving and going by the rules then good riddance to them. You accept the rules when you create your account, so you should follow them also. Also permabans aren't mean't to reform players, it's meant to kick them out of the game. Riot doesn't want permabanned players to play the game, since they've shown no desire to change their behavior for the better. > you can restrict their chat for few games if they keep flaming and flaming add another restriction and reduce the time of them getting +1 chat message. Doubt this would work. Riot did the permamuting experiment a while back, where people got over 1.5k games of chat restriction, and guess what happened?
