Welcome to riot reworks. You main this champ? We're gonna completely change their playstyle in a vain attempt to gain more players, new players will replace you say they love it (you will find it loathsome of course because you already liked the champ the way it was and we'll put absolutely zero effort into keeping it similar), and we'll claim success despite having the same number of mains as before. : What you're missing is that what you describe is NOT A BETTER STATE OF BEING. It would be a miserable state of being where nobody actually pl;ayed the game and everyone just tried to get the 'best possible stats' out of it. The only possible way this would work - the literal only way it would work - is if they created a full artificial intelligence - you know, the sci fi kind that are literally capable of imitating humans - so that this computer system could accurately measure human contribution and thought processes. But, put bluntly, if they had people who were capable of making that, I can think of much better places for them to apply it than a video game. So, it's not a matter of me thinking they should 'leave the game in a shitty state' it's me thinking the game ISN'T in a shitty state and your suggestion would PUT IT in a shitty state. So I would rather they work on taking it from the decent state its in now and making it better rather than implementing an AWFUL idea that would have NO POSITIVE IMPACT on the game.
: No, I just understand that you need measurables if you're going to get a computer to deal with something. Computers can't run on vague terms like 'teamwork', so you can't build a system to measure it. Or 'good judgement', again, not measurable by a computer. Essentially what you're asking for would turn into kda + vision score + cs = ranking(since those are the measurable elements)... which, as I'm sure even you have to agree, is not an accurate measure of your impact on a game.
So they should just leave the game in a shitty state because fixing it is hard or people might try to game the system (which people do regardless)? If you're fine with that you're playing the game you deserve to play man. I donno if you are just too young to remember when quality products were actually made or what the problem is. My grandparents refrigerator lasted 50 years, cars that were build 60 years ago will outlive most of the cars built today, because people aren't willing to stand up and say no, there's a better way. This seems to just as true of gamers today as consumers of any other product. Perhaps its because you are too young to have seen a time when things made to a level of quality far beyond anything today, and that is truly crime in and of itself.
: "Ez Pz" - precisely how do you measure that stuff? It's easy to make a vague generalization of 'you get points for how well you did relative to others' - but most of that stuff is either a) Easily gameable or b) Impossible to accurately measure using an automated system.
Sounds like an excuse for not putting in the work. You secretly a Riot dev lols?
: I love how you think a performance based rank system would make things LESS toxic. As people start intentionally prolonging games to get a better KDA, throwing teammates under the bus because losing a game is now a BETTER outcome for you personally than having bad stats, etc. If you think people wouldn't learn how to game the system to get points without needing to care about winning within a week, you know nothing about people.
It's pretty simple. You have a ranked system like Apex. You get points for kills, but only up to 5 kills (so no point in prolonging a game), and point for how well you did relative to everyone else in the game, regardless of win/loss, and points for winning. Ez pz. The higher you go, the more entry points you need to get into a ranked game, so no more hardcarrying your friends since they can't afford the entry cost to higher elo games so everyone is about where they should be, and lastly since everything is about the points, ranking up happens relatively quickly so less rage about the slow ass progress like league. Also since you get points based on your performance, no more rage over wasting half an hour on a loss because your teammates were a bunch cave people bashing their skulls on a keyboard. Good game design isn't hard, it just requires effort and giving a shit about your players.

: League is 9 Yo, no multiplayer game has ever kept so many players for such an extended period of time ever. If the player base switch from a mainly westerners market to an asian one, it doesnt make a difference for the stakeholder as long as the asians buy as much content as we did. So yes they are doing an amazing job.
Yeah they did an amazing job originally. But you can fuck up pretty damn hard with 100 million players and still keep the servers going for YEARS, especially with extremely addictive game. If you had 100 million people addicted to crack and the quality went down substantially, do you think you'd lose that many customers either? That's not really an accomplishment. When you have a huge customer base and an addictive product you can fuck up pretty damn hard and still do pretty well. That doesn't mean you deserve praise for it. But I guess this generation wasn't raised with quality products that were built to last, so it shouldn't be surprising in a age when pretty much everything is only meant to last a couple years that people readily accept low quality goods and services like its normal. I feel bad for you, you'll never know what you're missing.
: They are held reponsible, and that's why they are well paid. Let's summarize the state of the game : Nearly about hundred million players all over the world.
ROFL that was years ago. Long before the mass exodus from the dumpster fire that was Runes Reforged at the same time as the rise of the battle royal genre. I'd be shocked if they had a 1/3 of that now, let alone 1/2. They haven't posted the player numbers in years, and the only reason that would not benefit them is if they were dropping. The only place they aren't bleeding players is Asia, and if you want to play on those servers, GL HF. Granted with numbers that high they can bleed two million players year and still keep the servers open for another 10 or so, but one has to wonder how much things will accelerate as wait times get longer.

: >Well number one according to his backstory he's not really a villain, even basically everyone whose ever played against his toxic kit would disagree The base Lore of a champion has nothing to do with skins though. : >I mean Riot notifies you of all games to watch, rewards you for watching and... generally seems to prefer you watch than play. Well yeah. They were actually _slow_ in adapting this and it was a constant source of criticism since Season 2. DOTA gave you prizes for watching. CS:GO gave you prizes. Overwatch did before League did. As for preference, they don't care. They want you to interact with League. Just watch esports? Cool! Play the game only? Sweet! Do both? Awesome! But interaction is key.
Making the game more watchable made it less playable, and since I don't watch, I quit altogether and I was pretty hardcore addicted to it. Them ruining the game is what finally set me free. Given how dead these forums are anymore I suspect a great many others had a similar experience. Just sad to watch a company tank a great game for sheer unmitigated greed. And course their timing didn't help either, season 8 came out and ruined the game right around when Fortnite and the battle royal genre was blowin' up.
: i honestly wouldn't recommend this game to any of my friends
Every survey I ever took before I quit, I put that down and why. What did riot do with that data? They accelerated those kinds of changes to FTL speeds.

I was so annoyed that I uninstalled the game and spent more free time with irl friends, found a proper job,met my first GF and lost my virginity. So dear balance team, I thank you very much for ruining this game. It helped me a lot in my life.
I gotta say, I'm a helluva lot happier and healthier since I quit league. It should honestly come with a warning, especially since season 8, may have extreme adverse effects on your mental health and social life.
: A nourishing source of Vitamin C to prevent the onset of scurvy, a common deficiency among pirates of earlier times Yeah, I'm not fun at parties : )
Ironic, considering you're more likely to get kidney stones from that over consumption of vitamin c these days than ward off scurvy.
: Maybe you are not entertained but people like you never fail to get a laugh out of me. Keep on with your crusade XD
That's the great part, I don't have to do a damn thing. Riot does it all on their own, at this point they could completely reverse course to make league what it used to be 1 1/2-2 years ago and it still probably wouldn't stop the downslide, heck it might speed things up. I only check these forums once a week most of the time since there's so little activity compared to year ago. Hell, whens the last time you saw more than one 100+ upvote post in the hot section other than just after the Morde reveal and I'm not even sure that did it, since I only check ever now and again.

: I'm not going to hop along this vague divide between bait posts and regular posts. Every post is meant to trigger a discussion of some kind and usually it's the followup in the thread that decides what the post is going to be about. I think it's obvious that at least half this post contains people that took it seriously. Some in the "triggered" sense, but also in the sense of tackling the post's statement regardless of its intended audience. I'm not upset about the post, but I always want to adress the contents of a statement whether it's humorous, intentionaly silly or serious. In my experience, a joke can be as strong a social denominator as any other statement. How often is humor used in lieu of slurs, insults, derogatory comments? I'll give you an example from my social background. In my country, we have an old saying that translates to "You can wash a N*****, but it's a waste of soap". It's meant to be a joke, but it still carries all the imbecility and bigotry of people who ACTUALLY BELIEVED that dark skin is a big taint that can't be washed off, rather than a natural state of being human. Humor can sometimes ease people into the most obscene cultural relics that we should have outgrown as societies long ago. Meme or not the post carries an ideology which I don't agree with. I'm not here to shut anyone down or to act like a shrew, but to give a piece of my mind and remind people that a subset of league fans are either indifferent towards or content with the already existing, intentionaly sexy characters of league and that we'd rather characterization in either new releases or skins be pushed to different, more unusual themes.
Ya ain't got time to read that. Either you got that it was tilt bait or you didn't, I'm not gonna open the box and see if the cat is dead, ain't nobody got time for that.
: I keep seeing here the argument that games exist as a fantasy to escape reality. I hope everyone here understands that porn is not the only form of escapism. A fantasy doesn't have to constantly exploit sexual allure to find people that are interested in it. As I see it, this game has a lot of virtual fuckdolls already, both male and female (admittedly females get the sexy treament more often that males). Speaking as a man, I'm pretty sure if horniness was my main reason for playing league I'd have more than enough material to work with. There are your predatory succubi, scantily clad markswomen, pirate ladies, void creature ladies, leather fetish ladies etc etc. I'm positive there are more than enough sexualized characters in this game to satisfy a lot of needs. All the while there are people who don't care about this sort of thing, meαning not just characters that are sexualized in an exploitative way but league's general direction of scrapping and shying away from characters designed around being, crippled, deformed, aged, anything that is conventionaly considered unattractive. Like when I saw yuumi's book teaser I thought we were FIIIINALY going to get our very own old hag enchanter champion but instead we get a youtube algorithm's wet dream. Also an observation, a female power fantasy is not by definition sexualized, it just includes a powerful female as its core component that operates as an empty husk for the viewer to either identify as or objectify. That could mean anything from a Witchblade archetype to a Margaret Thatcher archetype.
Margaret Thatcher rauuuuuuuwwwwwwwwwwww. Seriously though, you realize this is just a tilt bait post meant to get a rise people who are easily triggered right?
Stupafly (NA)
: If league will only get worse with riot at the helm.... How did it become such a huge game when it ONLY gets worse when riot is in charge. I know riot fucks up alot but this imposed cynicism isn't helping anyone
Because the people who made it huge cashed out long ago and whats left is a joke that only cares about making as much money as fast and hard as possible. They could give a shit that IP to BE changes dicked over the veteran players that made them huge, they couldn't give a flying fart that half the champ remakes they've done recently alienate the people who actually played the champion, or that they took the entire game in a whole different direction making the whole game the worst parts of URF (with none of the fun bits) in season 8. So yeah, lets give THOSE people the benefit of the doubt. I can't roll my eyes hard enough lols. I come here periodically just to remind myself why I quit playing league like cyberstalking your ex to see much their life sucks without you (and occasionally throw gas on the fire), and goddamn I'm never disappointed. These forums are slowly dying just like game itself, and I've been around long enough to recognize when a game is dying and thanks to the big player base they started with I should be able to enjoy this for years.
: No room for casual play in League of Legends. You are forced to commit to LoL or Uninstall
Don't waste your time with League, find something that's actually fun. League will only get worse with Riot at the helm. I quit League more than a year ago and it's been great for my mental health and my real life relationships. I still game but since my comps a toaster I can't do well in most FPS, but playing with my friends is still fun.
: Leave the game man, there are better mobas now. League is way past its prime.
For someone who stop playing league more than year ago and hasn't really been paying attention to other mobas, what are they? Are they like League used to be before Riot shit the bed hard with season 8 and RR?
: Seems almost like League Boards isn't a hive mind.
People who are still playing this game will do anything to justify their addiction at this point. Everyone who could read the writing on the wall moved on long ago. Hell it's been so long I've moved on from the game I moved onto from League and I'm the type of guy that plays a game till its well and truly dead. I was still playing BF1942 8 years after it came out.
: what used to be fun about it was that about 90% of the cast could actually compete (the 10% were basically strictly melee champions and even some of them found their way into the crazy OP status, like Hecarim) then riot introduced keystones and they broke everything, in addition to introducing kits that break rules or are otherwise unable to be balanced then runes reforged took everything wrong with keystones...and made it worse so now URF has no real place in the game other than a "once in a while" experience compared to the original urf that people quite literally played so much as riot put it that they burnt out of the game and it hurt their numbers... also, you might be thinking of ARURF which is nowhere near URF levels of fun
Yeah ARURF while still better than nothing, was but a pale imitation of URFs true glory. People complained about the OP champs because they were too lazy to find something that beat the OP champs or didn't want to play those champs themselves so we got that garbage.
: was was fun about URF to you?
Oh yeah, I'd come back if URF was like it was back in the day. Now with this clown fiesta of nuke level damage, mobility creap off the charts, not so much. Funny thing is I had the most fun finding the champs that beat the "OP" champs. LIke old Galio before he got ruined, or Sej before she got ruined. Or hell even supporting someone and making them invincible as Lulu so the Zeds, Jax, Yis, and Garens got curbstumped and never knew what hit them.

Wish they integrated the fun aspect from URF into the normal game, that woulda been cool. Maybe I'd still be playing.

Not this new crap that skill gates me out of champ I already owned because Riots fapping obsession with remaking ever champ to have skill floor higher than 95 percent of their players can achieve. But that why this game is dying and the people left playing it deserve what they are getting for staying.
: I personally like the reimagining vgus because it gives a more modern more realistic take on a champ. sure some champs can just get new models but warwick and galio are 2 of my favorite vgus so far because they were reimagined.
Galio wasn't a VGU, he was deleted and replaced with a shiny white and gold imposter.
: So after ruining Akali, now they don't want to fix her or revert her. At least no more communities will be fucked by Riot's shit reworks.
Donno why this is getting downvoted. After what they did to Sejuani and Galio, geezus, don't let the rework team touch your champs. You are better off without the gamble. Odds are you'll end up more like Galio or Sej, than Warwick or Nunu.
: Because Riot's actual gameplay department is the biggest joke, I'd rather have EA in charge of reworking champs.
You'd have to buy lootboxes to play them, but at least they'd be PLAYABLE.
