You're assuming that I'm ignoring abuse cases, which I am not. But, this vote isn't about abuse cases, it's about letting multiple people RP the same champion, which is what my post attempted to discuss and explain. I have no reason to vote against a change that prevents abuse cases, but this proposed change isn't a suggestion that both eliminates abuse cases and makes everyone happy. You can argue that allowing a bunch of people to be Karthus would remove that specific abuse case from the scenario, and others like it. But eliminating one case where the system can be abused at the additional cost of removing the main thing that sets this board apart from places like Tumblr is a really high cost to those on my side. That's why I've been trying to propose suggestions that allow BOTH sides to be happy, IE 2 sub-boards. One would be what things are now, the one-world thing. And the other would be a Free-Play place where claims etc don't matter. That gives both sides what they want and gives more opportunities to everyone involved too. And yet, this idea doesn't seem to have been discussed and has been overlooked, seemingly, by those in favor of the change. I don't want to ban people from having fun on either side. But the opposition's viewpoint seems to be "we have more people on our side, so your side can suck it up" which isn't really fair to some of our longest-standing members of the community, and is sure to only create more irritation and frustration among people rather than truly solving anything. And that's beneficial for no one. Which, again, is why I believe 2 Sub-Boards would be the best way to solve this because it literally makes BOTH sides happy. Everyone gets what they want. So, why people seem to also be opposed to that as a solution really boggles me. I don't understand why not pleasing both parties is somehow less popular than upsetting one party for the sake of one side.

The only cost I see is a superficial one that you can't brag that you are holding onto a champion for years and years. If somebody else wants to rp a champion on *the* league of legends boards, has great ideas that can reach far more people than they ever could on tumblr, then tough luck, you should have showed up many years ago. > That's why I've been trying to propose suggestions that allow BOTH sides to be happy, IE 2 sub-boards. Because you were fine with only pleasing *your* party until your grip on the majority has been threatened, upon which case you try to go for a compromise.

: So, once more, I will attempt to make a plea for the other side of the coin on this issue. Several people seem to think that the current champion RPers like being the only person to hold their champions because of some kind of pride. The truth is that it isn't about that at all. Most champion RPers don't see themselves as superior to anyone else, and it isn't that we don't think anyone else should be able to RP a champion either. Those beliefs are a misconception based around the real reason for why we all cling to this solo representation so ardently. The fact of the matter is this. The Boards currently offer a one-of-a-kind experience for RPing in the Runeterra Universe on the Internet, and that is a single, unified world. Several people who currently hold champions here have also played them elsewhere, myself included. For most, that place is Tumblr, or perhaps some other place, like a League Facebook Group, or a collection of Twitter RP accounts, or some other sort of thing. However, the only place that really offers a unified world where there is one version of a champion, one world for them to make their way and tell their stories, is here. Here, there is no competition for RP partners between different versions of your chosen champion. Here, you don't have to try and compete with another Ahri, Jinx, Riven, Katarina or Draven for chances at interaction, or get passed up because another RPer/writer for that champion is seen as better than you by the community. Here, your champion is never overshadowed by someone else, and you are allowed, as a result, to create bigger stories, have grander interactions and actually make an impact on the world in some way. The argument could be made that "Even if several people are RPing the same champion doesn't mean you can't also tell your own stories" and this is theoretically true. This sort of thing takes place on Tumblr all the time. People have "official" chosen RPers/representations for specific champions that they will interact with as their "only" representation of that character for "canon" purposes, and will usually ignore other people. There's no need to interact with the fifteen other Ahri blogs with varying degrees of lewd if only one fits your needs as an RPer to tell your story. And so, people get left out, left behind, and unavoidably, there are often multiple versions of a champion that just get ignored because people have their favorites already. But the Boards here eliminate all of that. Good or bad, if you have a champion here, you ARE that champion for the sake of RPing. And nowhere else really offers that kind of capability, or privilege. And trust me, most of us DO see it as that. Not a right, but an honor, to be that champion and character in a semi-official capacity. Most don't see it as some kind of superiority thing, we see it for what it is, a chance to be the only recognized version of a character that, elsewhere, can be so easily duplicated and represented that being them loses any real kind of meaning in the sea of copies. And that's what you're taking away by removing this section of the rules. You are taking away a unique opportunity across the Internet, and replacing it with something that is otherwise known as and provided by Tumblr. People might see us as being greedy and protective of our champions, selfishly keeping them to ourselves and denying everyone else the right to play them. And maybe part of that is true, but not for the reasons people seem to think. We're fighting to hold on to them so dearly because this is the only place where we ARE them. And because of that, we ARE trying to fight to hold on to something we desperately love and care about. And that thing is this experience. It's not about denying people opportunities, it's about keeping this unique experience. And that is why we wish and hope that this change doesn't happen, or at least whatever change comes to pass still provides us with some place to continue to enjoy the experience we all love and treasure. If that requires a Sub-Board dedicated to a single world, and another dedicated to Free-Play, then so be it. But please, please consider the true reasons why we hold to this so tightly.
> [{quoted}](name=Ryugi Kazamaru,realm=NA,application-id=jxzFAe03,discussion-id=ZTfqxGBr,comment-id=0026,timestamp=2018-11-27T20:59:47.470+0000) > > So, once more, I will attempt to make a plea for the other side of the coin on this issue. > You've said a lot of stuff but I want to bring to the front a very important issue. The way the current system works, is very abusable by the champion RPers. I bring up Karthus once again. He simply refused to let Karthus go even though it was clear for a while he was drained on ideas. So he would do half-baked attempts to bump his thread and in the process sit on his champion and as a result fresh blood never got a chance to use him. You can fight to hold on to this all you want, but I want to know why you seem to turn a blind eye to obvious abuse cases that have been documented. You can be the best RPer in the world that loves the system but if 90% of the other RPers abuse this system then it needs to change. This number is of course hyperbolic but my point is that you can't simply ignore these instances just because you want to keep your champion all to yourself.

: On the Current State of the Boards & Suggestions Moving Forward UPDATE: READ INSIDE
So I've been the boards Soraka for at least half a year and went strong for a while before petering out due to irl stuff and getting burnt out in writing in general. All I'm going to ask, to the people who want to keep this system, do you really think yourself higher than other people who want to rp a champion that you happen to own? What I mean is, people (like Karth) have kept their champion for over 6 years. If you really think that in those 6 years not one person has wanted to take the role, you're being dishonest with yourself. Furthermore, I've seen a lot of people's half-hearted attempts at bumps (remember that fiasco) just to hold monopoly over a champion, denying other fresher writers a chance to show their interpretations while the quality of their own writing and creativity in general suffers. What's wrong with giving another person a chance to rp your champ?

P.S. I won't be leaving the community, I'll still hang out but I won't have anybody waiting on me for rp replies right now lol. If in the future our new Soraka drops her for whatever reason, who knows what I'll be up to by then. I may regain the passion I once had.

: I see, well it happens to everyone, I'm thinking I myself may have even been a bit foolhardy and jumping to conclusions taking up a champion (when RPing champions _always_ stresses me out for some reason) when I was already in 6 roleplays as it was! I tend to overwhelm myself a lot and I think in my excitement at how much I loved that map, I devoted those energies in a direction not the best placed… so as embarrassing as it may look, yes, I made a mistake, I'll be dropping Ashe as well, for anyone's hope I got up and then let down, I'm terribly sorry, and I know that was short-lived, but I'm still RPing with determination! Regardless, removed Soraka. Come back anytime you are ready, as if someone is burnt out, I hope no one would judge. I burn out relatively easily, and just made a total fool of myself, so I know I won't!

I totally understand Kriz. I've been Soraka for almost 6 months nonstop and dropped off the map for month 7 making sporadic posts. And I relate to putting too much on my plate as well. I was trying to juggle this rp, irl stuff, summer school, writing a fanfiction request, writing a fanfiction I promised a friend, writing a personal fanfiction, and writing 2 OG novel series. Basically a ton of writing that I couldn't keep up for long without getting majorly burnt out with writing in general. I tried my best but it just won't work as I've seen.

I'm officially dropping Soraka, as I'm burnt out from rping in general, and forcing myself to continue will only result in low quality posts.

I've been rping Raka for almost half a year, then dropped off in the last few months cuz irl stuff. Regardless rping my favorite champion was a real blast, and worldbuilding was fun while it lasted. While I want to try to continue to rp as her, I feel as though my time has passed. After all I know I'm burned out with rping in general atm, and holding onto Soraka despite not having the same drive will just lead to weak threads and replies that frankly I know Soraka doesn't deserve. If a man cannot defend his family does he deserve one, does he deserve the land he cultivates? A Noxian knows weakness is only there if you allow it." "You speak from the heart and me from cold logic." He paused letting the words sink in. "It has been ages since I've had someone debate honestly with me, it is refreshing to see a new perspective even if it is an old one. I only wished the circumstances were less dire. But I don't fully disagree with your stance; not everyone can handle the loss of a loved one that is true, knowing that all your work is now ash is a hard truth to swallow. One that Ionia has had to experience, and with more to come." "But if you refuse to fight... who will stand up for you? You cannot rely solely on peaceful ways even in peaceful times a warrior may be needed. It's not arrogant to judge a man's worth by his strength. Humanity is always tested Noxus may force that test but if not us, then there will be someone else. War is an eternal cycle a chain that never breaks as long as two people think and believe differently. That is why Noxus grows, strength under one vision, one people, one nation." The mention of Demacia drew a quiet sigh from Swain, not out of irritation or boredom but rather because Demacia was as flawed as Noxus ever had been. "Have you been in Demacia, they are not just against magic. The people are oppressed by generations of bred ignorance; they fear magic, different ideas. They seek no war because they are dying, their ways are of the past, and though the city may shine today, it is crumbling on the inside. And is not Noxus also driven by honor and duty? Every man and woman is expected to serve, each one swearing an oath since birth to uphold the honor of the empire." "I have not turned a blindside to our flaws, child soldiers, chemical weapons, and others. It is true to some extent that Demacia's tactics are more humane, but a war is not won solely on ideals." Another pause followed by bones cracking, organs rearranging under his very skin, eyes closed in concentration he continued. "I respect a city that stays to its ideals even when they are losing the war, what I cannot respect is their refusal to acknowledge their flaws, Noxus is not perfect and will never be, but we are always honest, even with our worst history." "The fleshing? I have visited said arena watched a minotaur tear apart fifty men, I have seen an Ionian face off against a hundred men, and I did nothing to save either of them. I could have bought them out with my influence, but it would be a futile act unless you strike at the core of said flaw there will always be more to replace the cracks. My point? I am not proud of the things we do, not always. But I would look you into the eyes any day." His eyes meet hers in quiet defiance. "And recite every war crime Noxus has committed, and I would tell you the price of victory. Respect Demacia if you must but do not claim them to be more honorably than Noxus, we are both flawed it is not a competition only reality." Slumping down the general paused wholly exhausted from his rants, but soon enough he spoke once more undeterred. "But I am not unwilling to see your way. If you will allow it, walk with me. I know for a fact no battles are going on right now, Darkwill's forces are almost fully depleted they need to regroup, to rest. I will taste peace, the Ionian way if they accept me. If you will accept me." His eyes fell on her again. "I can't promise anything will change, but I would not mind trying before we part ways. You are a unique being in this world, one of a kind if I am right. Losing your company will be a... a strange loss. You don't fear me, and that is something new, new indeed. My company, the grand army of Noxus likely believes I'm dead; it will give us enough time." Sitting up his hand reached out to hers stopping shortly in front of it. "It has been too long since I've had a new perspective on this earth we walk. It's time for a new one, these weary bones may not last much longer, but they won't falter today."

Soraka replied. "While I am here on your world, I embrace my role as a healer." She worked with a bit of silence before saying, "I disagree with something you said earlier. That immortal beings can be corrupted. We have lived long enough so that we are steadfast in our moral codes. The things that motivate mortals to corruption do not work on us. It can even be argued that we determine what morality, and by extension corruption, is defined by." "Many mortals get pushed to perform extremely brutal and cruel acts to protect their loved ones, because they are not strong enough to force the ideal solution. Celestials do not have this problem. Indeed, if I were forced to pick between saving two people and saving a child, I would simply snap my fingers and save both. At least I would in my prime. Now however, I'm only a few steps higher than a mortal, and so I'm vulnerable to corruption. Which is why I am especially careful to not use my magic to harm others in anger. In self defense at the absolute worst, and even then nonlethal."

I want 'tah see what happens heh." > > He restrained a laugh possibly to prevent traumatizing her. Soraka watched his belly jiggle with a sort of morbid curiosity. He seemed harmless enough, however. She found he had a sort of uncle's charm about him, despite his dress code. Surprisingly he was in fact, nowhere near as drunk as he should have been, she could sense a sort of lucidity about him through his hangover. Regardless she was curious. She placed a hand on the man's forehead, leaning forwards to try to reach over his girth. She closed her eyes and attempted to clear his mind of the slight hangover he felt. However the way her healing worked, she felt an echo of the affliction her patients suffered as she healed them. And because of this, she was nearly knocked unconscious because of the massive hangover that washed over her. She staggered back and tumbled to the grass with an *oof*. She tried to speak but her world was spinning much too fast for her to make a coherent thought. *Punch drunk* She thought briefly. *Just high tolerance.*

She was surprised he was willing to help her aid the wounded, and she would ask him on that in time as well. She tensed when the farmer moved to threaten Swain; she could feel his pain and distress flowing from him in palpable waves. She sighed in relief when he just gave him a few pointers and let him go. As she passed him she placed a hand on the man, feeling the pain of his injuries briefly as she healed him. She entered the tent and was nearly floored by multiple auras of intense pain and suffering. Her eyes involuntarily watered from the sudden influx of anguish, and she was nearly bowled over by an injured man that walked past her in a hurry, and she scarcely had time to cast a quick heal in his direction before being addressed by Swain. She thought for a moment on his proposal, and said, "It may just be a lack of supplies, but yes, you can help with providing aid." As she knelt to the closest soldier and started to heal him, she asked, "Why do you want to help your enemy? I help them because I mean them no harm, but I know that you will just as likely take a sword to them as a bandage."

She asked. "I'm asking because, as far as this world is concerned, I was once a goddess. The other celestials refused to interfere with or help mortals, and because I am a healer at heart, I could not sit by any longer. I gave up my immortality to do what I do now. She had what looked like yellow metal shaped like a blonde bun of hair, and her midsection was gone." She illustrated by hovering one hand over her mug and her other hand over the first, with plenty of space in between. "She had this weird object between the two halves of her body, and despite what it looked like, she didn't seem to have any trouble with standing or walking. It was like her torso was solid. I found that very strange." "She also had a floating ball that accompanied her at all times. Her name was Orianna, and she called her companion simply The Ball. We talked for a bit, and she said she came from Zaun. She also mentioned traveling to find sources of magic or something. I'm afraid I don't remember exactly why. But we had a wonderful time, I showed her around the village, and she told me as much as she could about how she was alive. As it turns out, she was a human girl once, but she got sick and almost died." Her face fell a little. "Her father saved her life by turning her into a machine, and apparently magic is what lets her keep her soul intact in the metal shell. I am happy she survived, but I cannot imagine existence as a machine." Looking at Ozhar she quickly added, "I'm sure it's a fine existence, don't get me wrong. But I personally just love life so much I don't think I could bear being a machine, if that makes any sense."

Ozhar frowned as he turned his attention back to Soraka and rubbed his face trying to think of a solution, time was not his ally and Aatrox was likely plotting as they speak. He thought more on it and began to hypothesize the scenario if she were to agree to be augmented but refrained from asking her for the time being. While possible and likely increase her chances in surviving against them, she could possibly lose herself to the machinery or even her chance at godhood once more. Worse comes to worse, it was still an option but one who would like to avoid troubling her with. After all augmentation is a one way street and one that can lead to regret very quickly. **"So direct combat is out of the question."** He began, he was in a similar position in terms of allies with the exception of Swain but the arrangement was secret and only had access to a very small amount of resources. **"The highest chance of success seems to be for you to reclaim your celestial position."** The doctor drummed his fingers on the table, sitting in silence. **"Perhaps I could look elsewhere in my travels to find something that may achieve that, legends seem to hold more truth now-a-days and there are many about those achieving god-like powers. One is bound to be at least partially true if that's the case."** **"I can't say when or even if I'll find anything but after all you've done for me. I can at the very least attempt to return the favor."** He half smiled at her, he's been trying to practice the facial expression but success had been mediocre so far.

"That sounds like a splendid idea. We can both go on our own research projects, and regroup one day to take things to the darkin." Her face fell with worry. "Just be careful. Given her compulsive desire to heal the wounded, her meeting the Darkin was more of a matter of _when_ then _if_. **"That we can agree on."** Ozhar muttered. **"These 'uncommon' traits make it far more dangerous then its brethren, why he is looking for followers is still lost to me."** Ozhar knew of Aatrox's end game but not how he intends to accomplish it, the cultists were likely apart of the equation though he wasn't completely sure how. : Gragas bar & relationship advice (Open rp/Ask Gragas)
Soraka normally wouldn't think of entering a tavern on her own, she disliked the smell of most alcohol, and more often than not helped to clear up the foggy mind of people that have drunk themselves into painful hangovers. The fact that she felt an echo of the pains she healed meant that she had experienced at least two dozen hangovers without ever touching a drink, and now that she thought about it, it was probably why she wasn't interested in drinking herself. However what brought her to the tavern today was twofold. Her letters with Ryze had reignited the desire to travel the world. So she had given herself some time off from her home, said her goodbyes, and promised to return within the year. Wanting to travel to a place she had never been before, she went north to the Frelijord. After healing a nasty outbreak of frost fever from a town, she was offered a curious voucher as payment. The voucher read: *Good for ONE Free Drink and/or Hot Meal with Drink at Gragas's tavern* While she wasn't keen on a drink, she was definitely looking fowards to a hot meal and a warm place to eat it. In any case it seemed rude to refuse the voucher. The second reason she entered the tavern was because of what the voucher said on the other side, something about relationship advice. And though she hated to admit it, she really felt she needed it. It had been several years she had been on Runeterra, but the memories of her and her beloved Celestial would never fade. While she greatly disliked most of the other Celestials, she and Kyrion were, as mortals would put it, essentially married. As Fates would have it however, he was a Celestial Guardian, so could not leave the Celestial plane to join her. But she didn't mind at first, until she arrived on Runeterra and realized that not only was she much weaker but also that she had no way to communicate or for him to ever find her. This knowledge had crushed her then, and now she was wondering if long distance relationships were even possible. She pushed her way into the tavern, noting that it had a very nice and friendly atmosphere. She sat at the bar with her voucher ready, and waited for the portly bartender to finish with the very familiar person that sat off to one side. His face was at the wrong angle for her to see, but she could have sworn he was familiar. Either way she wasn't going to potentially embarrass them both by acting like she knew him before knowing for sure. At any rate she was certain she was unique enough in appearance for the person to recognize her first and give her context clues.
: A terrifying snore suddenly ripped out into the forests of Iradi scaring away animals and spirits alike, fleeing from the massive object who's chest rose up and down as he laid there snoring like a saw meeting wood for the first time. A barrel underneath his head supported his neck comfortably as he laid their legs crossed and arms behind his head in sleeping contemplation of today's events. --- Randomly a fleeing squirrel came across where Soraka was its hands pawing at her legs, should she look at it she would instantly see how terrified it was. It seemed to deathly terrified by the sounds coming from behind a nearby bush... Soon enough more and more forest animals followed, even a bear took shelter behind Soraka its fur digging in deep behind her, trying to hide its massive proportions behind the relatively frail celestial being. An elk with majestic horns and its female mate peered through the brushes promptly fleeing as another snore ripped through the air. And in just one minute the sleeping creature had managed to scare away all the animals from the nearby forest to Soraka, most of them gathering around her in fear of whatever monstrous being was roaring from its den. A sudden boom echoed through the forest as he laid down on his side, belly hitting the hard ground like a stone. It was enough to drive the last remaining creatures to Soraka, and now she was surrounded by the indigenous population. All of them shaking in fear, some of them growling at where the sound of snoring was coming from only to quickly grow silent as more snores each one impossibly louder than the last shook through the air in response. Suddenly all hell broke loose as the sleeping being opened his mouth unleashing a belch mighty enough to make the smaller creatures surrounding Soraka flee in terror. The bigger ones including the bear remained, but they dared not move an inch, frozen in fear. Should Soraka dare to investigate, she would find Gragas soundly asleep a smile on his curvaceous lips as he uttered in his sleep. "Och mammy! Ah am finally blooter'd, ihae achieved me bludy dream, och bless yer sool an' a' fowk else oan thes braw day." A tear escaped his shut-eye as he laid there dreaming about finally reaching a state of pure, unadulterated intoxication. _"Coods thes day gie onie better."_ He thought to himself as he laid there snugly shifting around in his sleep belly flopping around joyfully.

She thought at first it was thunder, and a sign of an oncoming rainstorm. But when no rain came, she was confused more than anything. After hearing the belch, her curiosity was unbearable. She left the bear and investigated further in the forest. Upon seeing a incredibly large, incredibly drunk man asleep on a log, she nearly laughed out loud at the absurdity of the situation. She decided to turn around to let him sleep, when he let out another loud snore, and muttered something about achieving a dream. From this close proximity, the snore was loud enough to rattle her physically, causing her teeth to chatter from the noise. She decided for the good of every life form in the forest, she should at least try to get him to sleep a little quieter. To this goal, she carefully poked and prodded him. At least he wasn't overtaken by despair at not being able to return home. "Well, I can't exactly tell you where Runeterra needs a hero specifically. As of now, the major conflicts going on is basically Noxus moving to acquire territory from Ionia, Shurima, and Demacia. Most of the other nations are on the side of defense, but you don't have to concern yourself with a conflict of that scale.

She hated everything he stood for, and yet she couldn't hate him for it. "Things are always more complex when multiple mortals are in the mix." She sighed. "Even though I hate admitting it, what you say is true to a degree. As long as you mortals try to conquer each other, fighting is both a product and a source of continued survival. I honestly am starting to see what the other Celestials have been saying, you mortals truly are your own worst enemy." Even saying that made her grimace. "I didn't want to believe them, I was confident if I could remove disease and pain from your lives then everything would be okay." She shook her head, almost laughing at herself. "I didn't count on losing most of my powers upon descending, and I didn't count on how deeply entrenched you all are in violence. I respect that you admit that your way is flawed, and I will not resist admitting that my preferred way of doing things isn't practical, at least not widespread among Runeterra." "Because as much as I would love it, I know that not everybody has the heart for peace. And I would be a hypocrite if I tried to make sure that only those who wanted peace could live in the world of my imaginings." She declined to answer Demacia's criticisms directly and instead answered his more direct request. "I can walk with you, but I am not sure if Ionia as a whole will welcome you, especially not if they know who you are. And the people of Ionia are very sensitive to magic, your dark visitor will not go unnoticed."

"Fascinating, I wonder how many have heeded your words... " Surprisingly his words held her in high regard, with no hint of anything else. "But is my cause not just? I fight for my homeland, for our values, our way of life." He paused groaning as a bone snapped in place in his arm. His tone took a dive towardness sassiness at her words. "A source of power, of knowledge is never evil. Merely it's user. I don't consider myself evil nor good. In fact, I find terms such as good and evil to be irrelevant, only actions matter." Her question made him pause for but a second, his response as honest as they came. "I kill to preserve the Noxian way of life, we are born in battle and reborn in blood. It is not easy to understand, but without warfare, Noxus would fall apart. We are both blessed and cursed by that knowledge." He shook his head once taking a little break to regain his energy. "Without Remorse? I mourn the cultures Noxus destroys, but it is a necessary evil, much like Ionians they were all given a choice to join the empire or be crushed beneath it. I was hoping for the first option; there is much to be gained from these lands without destroying them." "There is a purpose in the bloodshed. Noxus expands because she must, you wouldn't understand without being born into it. From the moment we are birthed we are bred to expand the empire's border, to fight for what we believe in until our last breath. We have never experienced peace, we never will." Her last words made him laugh heartily, but as quickly as it washed over him, it disappeared replaced by the usual stoic tone. "No. This demon is new to me, I have seen it before but only flashes, images in the carnage of battle." Smiling as well as he could under the cloth he asked her. "I'm curious. How would you change Noxus? I already know what I must do, but I would like to hear your thoughts on Noxus. You can't change Boram Darkwill he is too far gone into madness, you can't change its people... maybe you could convince the next generation to give up their way of life but what if you can't? We have lived like this for centuries ever since a tyrant was felled tribes united together creating a vision... a vision that was named Noxus." His tone was not judging rather curious in fact. "Is it not arrogant to assume you have the right, that anyone has the right to change our way of life? We may not be good, but we are not evil, we are a fair people. We destroy, but we rebuild, we kill but leave the survivors stronger because of it. Only when you lose everything can you appreciate life fully." "I don't judge your goal of achieving inner peace, so why is my goal, Noxus goal evil? War is not nice, but that can be said about life itself. Peace will ultimately only weaken us, who will stand up to tyrants if no one dares to stand against them even in certain death. That is a question begging for an answer."

No nation should be founded on war, soaked in blood. And you are not a fair people at all. The people who are left behind, they mourn their familes, their sons, daughters. They do not think you are fair. " *She paused, and tried to find more words.* "The goal of achieving inner peace, is the most fair goal *because* it leaves others alive and able to make their way in life. If anything, you and all of Noxus are arrogant in your tactics. You think you can decide who lives and who dies, and no mortal has that right. As for peace... look towards Demacia. They seek no war with outside forces, they are in a constant state of peace, they play defensively always. Yet you cannot tell me they have become weakened. Their ideals are built on honor and duty. And while I do not agree with their policy on magic, they are much better equipped for a peaceful life than Noxus. And so I respect Demacia much more. "

Still, I disagree the powers involved here are not as easy as tipping a scale carefully one way or the other. It's more similar to a minefield." My position remains unmoved, I... can't accept your help." He admitted his tone as stubborn as ever with a hint of softness to it. "Simply healing my wounds would cheapen this experience. I was at the battle of the placidium, betrayed by my master. These wounds I bear, no matter how grave is mine alone to remember by, to suffer by. I have no doubt you could destroy the demon within me with a flick of your wrist. But..." His eyes fell away from hers for but a moment. "I cannot be in debt to you. Not with this revelation, I already deal with powers that are supposed to be beyond me. I would not mind adding you to that list if it wasn't for the fact you are..." The next words rolled off his tongue with honesty betraying his intent. "So kind." It was a terrible choice of words, but it was the only ones that came to him. "You don't even know who I am, do you?" The tactician shuffled in place in a futile attempt to support his back better. "I am Jericho Swain warhost and leader of the men and woman that captured the placidium. I am the one the blade dancer carved her price from. I have killed, cheated, destroyed, countless lives from the frigid wastes of the Freljord to the endless dunes of Shurima. It does not bother me for a second." It was a lie, each kill weighed heavily on his mind but they all died for the greater good, a necessary sacrifice. "I know that healing me will take something from you." He tapped his temple a knowing gesture. "It was not easy to figure out; the demon only gave me pieces, fragments of who you are. I saw... shadows of death, flesh torn apart. "You make an excellent point." Clearing his throat his hand brushed against his stomach trying to get an estimate of the damage. "I underestimated you, I apologize." He flinched in pain his hand stopping over a particularly sore area around his ribs. "You are something different, that much I believe." Stopping, for now, he steadied himself up on his still functioning arm to get a better look from his low vantage point. Beneath the makeshift cowl, his features pressed into a confident smirk. "Perhaps. The evil you refer to can't be helped, I have made a bargain with the devil himself to survive." He left out his current struggle with the said demon; its whispers were infectiously sweet begging him to give in, trying to corrupt him. But he refused, his path was his own to make now. No one, emperor, demon, or man would control his destiny ever again. "I have no desire to fight you nor can I make you leave it seems, I accept your aid." Once again a knowing smirk appeared on his features. "Now about that water..." The tactician laid back down again tired and exhausted despite appearances. His eyes fixed on Soraka uttering a warning. "It hungers." Subtle traces of demonic energies pulsed beneath the torn clothing, morbid sounds of flesh and bone rearranging itself subtly under his skin if she went close enough. "I will accept your aid, but no magic. I suspect the demon within will try to leech off you to sustain us both." Showing the bleeding stump that remained of his arm as well as he could in his position his features kept the same stubborn face every Noxian seemed to possess. "I believe our first order of business is stopping this bleeding, after that... we'll just have to see." He was in no condition or mood to argue with her, for better or worse he would have to follow a doctor's orders. It wasn't the first time a doctor had lectured him, and he didn't plan for it to be the last. How many times had he disobeyed a field medic to join his men in celebration, to fight on the frontlines? Countless times yet he had never felt as helpless as in this case. He still played his cards even if his hand was weak, for better or worse the Noxian stubbornness whipped into him objected to this treatment. Before she could get to work his hand reached for hers staying it if she allowed the motion, his eyes looking into her's bitter realization present in them. "I don't plan to die, but if I don't make it... perhaps you would indulge a final request?" His voice solemn and confident but beneath that was a hint of a man face to face with his mortality. Cawing the raven seemed ready to fight over the body it picked on but ultimately left flying up to a nearby tree it watched the pair in an unnerving silence, it never seemed to move remaining station it's six eyes never leaving them. Even stranger was that more ravens settled down in the trees nearby as time passed by, each one of them staring down at Soraka and Swain. Her hand had barely touched his stump as his eyes shot up his arm weakly grasping the intruding hand. "No..." The man's eyes opened his face bathed in sweat and blood concentrating just on saying the lone word before he slumped down again in exhaustion his face barely held above the grass. He wasn't sure about his savior's intents, but there was the faintest hint of magic in the air not coming from the living forest around them. Since was not executed he suspected it was some form of a spell designed to aid and repair. He refused that aid, at least for now. It was too dangerous to allow interference, yet he could not deny the stranger with one of his feet already in the grave. Rolling to his back with help crimson red yet weary eyes caught a single glance of the stranger he assumed it was some vastaya too helpful for their own good, but there was something nobler about the being, or perhaps it was his fevered imagination. Closing his eyes, he allowed himself a moment of rest if the fall didn't wind him then the idea of getting up did. Awaking minutes later the general pushed himself up slightly to get a better view of his surroundings his features almost instantly fixing on the cross-legged creature a mere foot away. The charm in his words seemed virtually contradictory to his deformed appearance. "I appreciate the concern." He paused groaning he closed his eyes trying to ignore the pain building in his lower area; broken ribs were likely the cause "looking up again he continued, "But this is my burden mine alone to bear." Whatever he had become he was still Noxian at heart; if it could be done by himself, then he would do just that. The pain that tugged at his mind made him almost regret those words. "Most would call this a meeting by chance, but there is no such thing as luck." Coughing into the cloth covering his mouth crimson spread across it a bad omen. "You might have guessed I'm no mere man." Indeed, to someone sensitive to life itself would likely feel the change bubbling within Swain, a dark influence. "Do not fear; I am in control here." His features once more contorted in pain despite his attempts to make her believe otherwise. "You should leave. I have killed many of your kind, the blood on my hands is not just mine. But..." Lying back down his eyes looked to something beyond her, perhaps the Ravens high up in tree crowns. "If you stay, perhaps you would share some water with me?" His eyebrows knitted together in deep concentration, each word forced out by sheer, stubborn, will.

But when she concentrated on his psyche, she felt another presence, one that unnerved her. Him trying to refuse her aid earlier was something else that was unusual.* *At his words, she felt a very real fear. But at the same time, she found his talk ridiculous. No matter who you think you are, if that doesn't get treated you will die." *After deliberation she added,* "And I am not vastaya, but I do feel I can help you with this evil within you. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H0JDomv8ac A night unlike any other in Ionia, except...There was a large storm roaring as rain and flashes of lightning would be outside. Animals taking shelter in the forest while people staying in their homes enjoying the warmth of their home. Though cloudy from the clouds, a few stars could be seen only these stars were lined up in a strange pattern. As another flash of lightning went off, the stars began to glow an abnormal brightness until they would even shine through the storm for all the people across Ionia to see and maybe across Valoran. At the moment when the stars were at the peak of brightness, an actual beam of magic and energy would form from the formation of the stars then blast down in the distant forest causing trees to fall and animals to flee while getting soaked from the storm. In the sky, the stars would start to part ways as thunder roared in the distance. Whatever just happened, something or someone came down from that sudden beam...And that something or someone was in the forest outside the village.

If you don't like this scenario, I'm sure I can figure out something else. Headcanon: I still use the old swain model and voice, but everything else is standard canon, lore, quotes, etc. etc.) The battle at the Placidium was a disaster; Swain forces had been almost entirely eradicated the general himself missing in action after Irelia had thrown him off the edge, his severed arm held high in triumph. Hours later he awoke gravely wounded but still alive, clutching to the little life that spilled out of him his body broken beyond repair. A raven approached to feed, six hellish eyes observing his crimson form pecking at the pools of crimson around him to taunt him further. A vision came to him as he watched those eyes, a vision of Boram Darkwill's rotting empire. He could not allow it to happen, he had sacrificed too much, given his life to the empire he now knew was a false one. But it was not this raven that offered this wisdom; there was another presence tainting the clean and pristine air around them. He feared the being, but would not allow himself to be broken by it, reaching out he snatched the raven with what little life he had left accepting its power for his own as he slumped over on the verge of death. The masks of the kindred whispered something just out of reach, incomperhsible to him, perhaps a threat for having their rightful prey stolen. His fevered mind saw a maw of teeth and an elegant bow as darkness claimed him. He awoke with a gasp, life returning to his frail form in a pool of his blood. He had been reborn, but not entirely, the power he had taken was but a fragment, his weary bones still ached but where a stump once was there was now a hand of sorts, demonic energy coursing through it seductive and powerful it would serve its purpose. He let the demonic energy ebb away leaving his stump in its place; the sensation was unlikely anything he felt before. He suspected it was merely a phantom limb reaction, but it was almost thrilling, tempting him to give in and take more. But not now, he was too weak to fight both his body and the new influence in his body. It took an hour for him to rise on his own but he did not rest once he was on his feet. His leg shattered snapped in half severely limited his mobility; he fashioned a cane out of his equipment taking what he did not have from a nearby tree with his knife. A hand instinctively moved to his chin as he finished the makeshift cane, it was as he had suspected. Ripping a piece of cloth from his arm that no longer required shelter he bound it around his mouth masking what lied beneath. It was not out of vainness but rather because he refused to show weakness, he was no mere cripple he was... more. Cane in hand the general stubbornly shuffled forth his determination unwavering as he headed out in a direction, he was too far away to join what little remained of his forces back at camp, if any had made it. The only choice he had was to wander deeper into the land and seek shelter, once his strength returned he could siphon more of the demon's power and restore his body. --- Had it been hours, days, minutes? He did not know. But he was lost that he was sure of, pearls of sweat ran down his scarred face from the effort each step took each time his body throbbed he feared it would be the end, his old body too frail to carry on. The moment never came, but his strength rapidly failed, he fell, and darkness took him once more.

There was always a terrible price to pay. Whether emotionally or physically. The trauma that could be experienced by the common man, or the soldier, could be unbearable.* *To a former celestial that was as highly tuned to life as Soraka, it was constant turmoil. She could feel every death as a terrible jolt to her psyche. As a nomadic healer she often could avoid major battles, and when the fighting was done she would come to the battlefield, fighting the urge to vomit from the stench of death, and heal who she could. She had never paid much thought to whose side her patients were. In truth she was fairly inexperienced in local politics, often avoiding staying in one place for any stretch of time.* *All she knew was that her prime directive was to heal and aid those in need. And when this battle was done, she would do her duty. She retreated as far as she dared from the ferocity of the fighting, and tried to distract herself by collecting the herbs and water she would need to aid her magic.* *** *Before she knew it the fighting was over. Even though she hated violence, morbid curiosity caused her to steal glances in the direction of the battlefield. One side seemed to overpower the other after a particularly heated portion of the scuffle, and the losers were routed. She walked towards the clearing when the victors seemed to hold a celebration, when a particularly weak sign of life pulsed near her, then faded just as quickly.* *Despite it not being a sound, her right ear pricked in the direction of the sensation, and she immediately knew the person was dying. She broke into a run, benig careful to not catch her staff in the trees.* *Presently she found a man lying face down, missing a hand from the elbow and scarlet blood was soaking through the rags he had used in an attempt to cover the wound. She hurried over, her protective instincts kicking into overdrive. Shooing away the raven that stood on his back, she put a hand over the stump, and concentrated. A harsh pain in her left elbow flared; a consequence of no longer being a celestial was that her healing caused her to feel an echo of the pain her patients felt. She ignored it however, and soon the blood stopped flowing. She couldn't restore the arm but she could stop the bleeding, and rejuvenate his body so it was no longer exhausted.* *After a few minutes, his grievous wound was healed, and she felt safe rolling him onto his back. She sat cross-legged a foot away from him and waited for him to wake up.*

He believed it to be unforgivable to speak over another while they were in the middle of their own oration, so he simply stood idly and took the occasional sip from his mug of tea. His eyes appeared to be without any features that could be recognizable as human, but even so it was clear that his gaze was fixed on Soraka's gestures, eventually shifting to her face as she spoke instead of her sympathy and heartache for the struggling mortals. He couldn't have said anything even if he wanted to, there was nothing more to say. He simply nodded in agreement with her, took yet another sip from his rapidly cooling tea, then released a soft sigh as her mood became dour from her pondering over her own mortality, what fate she might one day meet. He let a short silence fall between them, he willed himself to refrain from destroying the calm shared between them. He was a good listener.* *What she said afterward caused him to tense up, his gut wrenched in sheer trepidation at her words. His expression became dark and utterly devoid of softness, his mood immediately twisted on itself and morphed into a form of vehement conviction. Defensive. Reproachful.* "Since you know of them, you must also know that they can't help you. If you even try, then I'll lose yet another friend to my quest...." *He set the mug on the nearby countertop, his left hand fell to his side and patted the tome hanging from a leather strap attached to his belt. A brief glimmer of arcane energy was birthed at the brief contact, though this gesture was meant as a deterrent to the fallen celestial before him whom no doubt bore notions of harnessed the combined power of the World Runes in his possession for her re-acquisition of celestialhood. His eyes were squinted into a cautious but vigilant glare, that of a protector of that which no one should be allowed to toy with.* "I was very careful not to mention them by name, but I suppose I should have expected you, as a former celestial, to be aware of them. I truly didn't expect you to know I was seeking them out. Well, trying to seal them away so that they wouldn't fall into the wrong hands..." (( I'm not sure if you made a mistake, because Ryze really didn't say anything about the World Runes, but I really wish to explore this sudden revelation. ))

She didn't expect Ryze to be present when she returned, but she knew that he would be back at some point. Their conversations from this point on would no longer just be letters. From now on she could be looking forward to visits from him. She felt like on some level she was helping him beyond anything she could imagine, and he was helping her as well. This was the start of a beautiful friendship.* ((We'll be going back to letters for a bit I think))

Many times Soraka wanted to intervene in his rampages across Runeterra, but the other Celestials would always forbid such an action. She knew that she was nowhere near strong enough to stand against him in her current state, but she also couldn't just sit by. She wrote a reply.* >Dear Ozhar, >I know the name Aatrox well. He is one of the strongest of his kind. I wish I could help you stand against him, but I am not strong enough to do so. However I will give you as much help as I can from where I am. Know that you have an ally. *She stopped writing and wandered around the office until she found an empty vial. Opening it, she filled it halfway with water, and carefully imbued it with her magic. Corking it shut, she attached it to the envelope with tape and continued writing.* >You should have received a vial with this letter. It is filled with water as well as my healing magic. It will restore your strength in your most trying times. It is a powerful concentration so you only need a few drops in a regular drink. It comes with my hopes that you will get through this as unscathed as possible. >Love, >Soraka.
