: Lmao, I'm starting to think this is the real answer. Don't say anything and int and it will take forever to get banned.
Pretty sure I saw a post in the past here on the Boards highlighting someone who had like over 400 games total (that or it was a duo who played together those 400 games) of inting. I think it was an outlier case, but if we're talking about stress tests then that is easily the highest someone/a duo has ever gone.

Canonically Kayn and Rhaast have yet to come to the conclusion of their battle. Either one of them can tap out at any time, meaning that neither is being dragged along for the ride like Valmar and Kai are.

: Why are there so many "Riot should not focus on toxicity" threads right now??
I've always been of the mindset that making the game more enjoyable as a video game will make people generally less toxic. Another big part of the toxicity is how much Riot as pushed LoL as a competitive game, and people can get mean *really* fast in a competitive environment. You can try to censor all of the rude things that people say, but once you ban or restrict all of them they will just be mean outside of the game environment and slander the game for censoring minor things, things that others view as major. This is a problem that needs to be solved indirectly.

Rioter Comments
: Pantheon mains in all regions are quitting in droves
I really don't feel like watching 44 minutes of this. Why is the video so long? It looks like someone just snatched a massive stretch of his stream when they could have just given me 5 minutes of the important stuff. That being said, the Panth rework feels like it's staying, not because Riot is stubborn, but because the new one is a) interactive b) not brain dead c) far more skill expressive. Sure, he's still easy to play but that's because he's supposed to be an easy pickup champion. If people are leaving I'm assuming it's because they don't like how you have to actually use part of your brain when you play him, which is the only thing I can think of because he essentially plays the exact same as before: poke, initiate, retreat, repeat.

It's not a bad thing to be upset about. If we can't trust Riot with the little things, how can we trust them with other, more important things? If we can't hold Riot to their word about things they have already declared to be the truth, then they will just keep lying or going back on things for the sake of making more money in shittier and shittier ways.
: pyke. an assasin with stealth. mobility, fast heal IN COMBAT a hook, an execute, slow. stun
The things I have always wanted to see changed on him: - Narrower hook. It has a bad case of the Thresh where the physical hook is smaller than the hitbox. This would invite more skill to be placed in the skillshot. - Remove the slow on his hook. This is the reason that it's impossible to dodge his E without a dash or a blink. This invites more skill with the "aiming" mechanic of moving around after the dash but before the stun. - Revert the buffs to his gold generation. Riot wants him to be a support, then gives him the chance to come out of a solo kill with 600 gold like that makes any sense. - Reduce the amount of gray health he gets from being damaged. I'm personally fine with the "go invis and heal" thing because you just have to ward bushes and use gap close more carefully when you want to fight him. Also grievous wounds is extra good on him because he doesn't usually build Spirit Visage. His stun duration is a meh for me because by making it easier to dodge it is more risky to try and land but more rewarding for when you actually do land it.

: Master Yi is a Garbage Design Concept
I think the only part of his design that people *really* hate is the fact that he builds/gets-for-free too many on-hit effects. His Q making him untargettable adds some skill-expression to good players, who will hold it for the enemies' big abilities. Take that away and your idea of "add more skill-based things to hit kit" just goes away entirely. The same goes for his W, which he can effectively use in a fight to counter big combos that don't have any hard CC (more so early game). His E, coupled with his R and Passive, are the real toxic parts of his kit. Combining all 3 of these with {{item:3124}} {{item:3153}} are what makes him overloaded. If we want to keep his identity of "high as, high ms assassin" then there is little we can do to his kit itself without removing this identity. Instead, items that have proven to be of poor design for a long time on more champions than just Yi should be looked at. Rageblade (and by proxy Sated Devourer when they swapped passives for a while) has been problematic consistently and for essentially the same reason for a long time. If Rageblade's on-hit procker didn't exist, I think Yi would be more tolerable.

Depending on how many people tour Riot (from my understanding it's a lot, and they also might do this for people looking to get a job at Riot), this position could keep someone pretty busy. If your location has a lot of demand for tours, then hiring tour guides to not only keep people from getting lost, but also make sure that people don't go places they're not supposed to is a smart idea. Also, that person probably isn't paid a whole lot, but it's giving someone a paying job which is never a bad thing.

I think if they switched the banner (this is what shows past rank now) and the border (current rank) then the problem is basically solved. As for the armor, well this is mostly a matter of taste. I think it looks alright for Silver+ players, although the "wings" are hit-and-miss based on what your rank is. End of season rewards are alright IMO (they'd be even better if the banner and border's roles were switched), they're supposed to be badges of accomplishment more than anything, with having older versions of the icon/skins also signifying the status of a veteran.

Morello being the balance lead who made some odd choices, didn't change things that people deemed problematic immediately for his own reasons and instantly gutted some other things, but god damnit the system worked well enough that people enjoyed it and didn't complain about it as loudly as we do on the Boards. League got rid of their Morello, but Dota kept the spirit of Morello alive. This means that Dota is going to feel a little older, mostly because they want to keep that feel. They aren't looking to expand the player base like Riot is, so they can live with keeping the old feel and their dedicated fans will love it. Hero design can suffer a little because players just want something simple, unique, familiar, and balanced. Voices stay under-written because it gives the older feel that their player base enjoys. I'd say the final thing is this: Riot has written and universe with a narrative to go along with the game, while Valve just wants to focus on the game.

Before diving into that though, for anyone who's missed it the option to use the Legacy Cursor's back in again. > > So, first off, general thoughts on benefits and costs of maintaining prior functionality when we update something. I'm assuming here that the output of the feature in question is the same (e.g. a cursor you use to control the game, a patcher that updates the game for you, a particular UI etc). Things like old and new versions of a champion by contrast are a very different case because what one player chooses impacts others. > > The benefit side of things is pretty straightforward - it lets us give different groups of players what they want. The cost side by contrast tends to be more complex, particularly depending on what the feature in question is. Meaningful costs we think about include: > > * The ongoing extra time that will be required to support multiple versions going forwards. Tends to mean things like having to make additional new pieces of art, fix the same bug in multiple places, additional QA testing each patch. For some features that time cost's trivial. For others (e.g. maintaining multiple versions of the in game HUD after its update a few years back) it adds a lot of extra time. > * Some improvements that would be great for most users can end up being blocked by the need to support older functionality. Supporting really old operating systems for example can block improvements to things like memory usage for everyone else. > * The total size and complexity of the game's code base has some impact on how quickly we can develop new features. Removing anything unnecessary gives us future efficiency as a result, which is particularly important for games like LoL with long lifespans and regular updates. > > Looking at the Legacy Cursor as an example: > > * We shipped an update to LoL's cursor in July 2018. Our belief was that the updated version would be a better experience for most players. That generally seemed to be true, testing did indicate that a subset of players indicated they found the cursor change really disruptive though. > * In response to that we added a Legacy Cursor option to allow players to opt into the old functionality. Cost, both upfront and ongoing, of doing so was pretty low and audience asking for the old cursor seemed to be of a meaningful size. > * As with any legacy feature we made a note to reassess at some point, see if it was still worth supporting or no longer necessary. > * Somewhere along the way we got some wires crossed in our internal communication and the need to assess the Legacy Cursor was assumed to instead be a need to remove it a year later. Cursor gets removed, players get understandably sad. > * We then take a look at who's using it, see that it's around 10% of the LoL playerbase, and add it back in. Cost of maintaining it's low and value seems pretty meaningful.

This doesn't really line up with what he's saying. He's mostly talking about removing old stuff to make room for new stuff to improve efficiency and whatnot, as well as reducing test load to maintain old stuff. Then he comes around and says that the cost of keeping it is low, while the value of it is "pretty meaningful." So all-in-all we really don't have an answer to the question.
: My League client won't open up the loading screen, and I've been losing LP and getting Leavebusters.
The solution I have found (until Riot fixes it on their end) is this: - Open Task Manager and find a "LeagueClient.exe" with the description "League of Legends (TM) Client" (This one in particular is the actual game, the others are processes of your actual client) - Close and rerun your client using the shortcut on your desktop/bar/start menu. If your client is set to close when you start a game then you just need to run the client executable. -At this point the client should either have you relog or it will display "Game is still in progress" - End the task described in step one -Now your client should change from showing "Game is still in progress" to prompting the "Reconnect" button - Press reconnect and you should be given the loading screen

I mean in dominion everyone's basically a jungler. You run around in the FoW and pop into lane sometimes to push or gank. Sometimes towards mid/late game you sit in lane for a good amount of time to get that big shove going

: In Defense of the Treeline
> In fact, if you ask around you'll even find that most people preferred the pre-reworked Twisted Treeline and stopped playing the map after the overhaul was made. I haven't ever played TT as seriously as SR, but a long time ago it would be my "winding down" game mode and I was pretty upset about the map overhaul. Removing drag took away a big objective that people could contest early on, which always made the map interesting to me. Also if I remember correctly, didn't they remove red/blue buffs from the map at this time? Just thinking back on things, it almost sounds like Riot just removed a whole bunch of content and tried to call it a revamp.
: Please, keep making polls. I love watching them blow up in people's faces! {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-popcorn}} A few people in an uproar over something DOESN'T MAKE YOU THE MAJORITY. Riot has the statistics. TT was not popular.

TT was not popular. I never said anything about being a majority. I also never had any expectations of a specific answer.

: It's actually fucking ridiculous that this company insists its the lack of player base as to why they're retiring it when they never put in the effort compared to their other actual supported game modes. Dominion went too because they simply didn't want to balance the mode separately, TT has been neglected continuously, and have broken comps that they never intended to fix. But yeah, it's the players fault. Replacing TT for TFT is hilarious too, it's a fucking shit game, and they push updates to it weekly, something TT never got at any point.

I think they had a more realistic reason for not wanting to balance Dominion separately. Back then they were still a much smaller company (memes aside) and they, much more seriously, did not have the resources to commit. Granted that towards the time when it was officially retired in 2016 they had much more at their disposal, by this point they were still young, new, and stupid when it came to being a big player in the gaming industry. At this point though, they have no excuse. It's literally them *playing* stupid to convince us that they tried to care but couldn't because "small indie company."

: I can't believe you're getting rid of the old cursor
League is going from a game that had a style to just another game. Sure it took elements of that style from other games, but they were still recognizable and when you saw them together you said "Yeah! That's League!" Now it's just "I'm guessing these are UI elements, no?" I dread the day they remove the classic in-game music. I'm pretty sure that's the last big relic of League's past.

: His annoying passive is also removed which hard countered certien match ups and made him really good at turret diving. I think they will eventually revert the "full" damage block and make it similar to braum where he takes some damage.
I feel like if they decided to keep the full block then they should at least prevent him from moving. Adjustable damage removal is kinda stupid to think about.
: Pantheon new lore is amazing
I always enjoy the stories of regular people overcoming the oppressiveness of gods. I especially liked how they essentially gave this scenario: Pantheon: You're weak Atreus: No u
: You're only allowed to play one champion for the rest of your life.
The uninstall button. Fuck that, there's no way in hell I can keep a sane mind while only playing 1 champion.

: Your assessment of Hearthstones RNG is completely wrong. First off, just because it only has 30 cards, compared to a card game like Magic that has 60, doesn't mean that there is less RNG. If you compare the two, 30 cards of duplicates means that there are 15 different cards that may be selected at any one time. Whereas in magic, while you have 60 cards, nearly half of those is land, the remaining cards can have up to 4 copies. So from that perspective, Magic has less RNG. However, the card-drawing mechanic of Hearthstone is the LEAST of the RNG element. Magic has NO RNG beyond the card drawing. Whereas in Hearthstone, many cards have RNG built in. For everything from what can attack, how much damage they deal, to whom they deal it, to entire effects being completely randomized. When you literally have no way on knowing if playing a card is the right plan, even IF you knew your opponents cards AND the cards and their locations in both decks, THAT'S RNG to the extreme. Which is what Hearthstone delivers. The OP is completely correct in his assertion that too much RNG ruins games for players that are looking to win through skill.
Completely disregarding lands when you consider how many/what specific cards are in a deck is a fatal mistake if you're deckbuilding. In hearthstone the cards you draw will always do *something*, whereas in Magic you can just draw a hand with 5/7 lands, or even worse run into a stretch of lands when drawing for upkeep. In my experience, there's a lot more draw cards in Hearthstone. Almost every hero has a way to draw more cards and sift through what you have faster. In MTG, not every archetype of deck has the freedom to add in a bunch of card draw beyond what they get from the draw phase. This means that in Hearthstone you will be able to find what cards you need in particular much more easily, reducing the RNG of drawing. When you put an RNG card into your hearthstone deck you are essentially agreeing "I understand that this card can and will do random things. It's my fault if I lose to bad RNG." You can build a deck with no RNG cards. In TFT there is no way to play the game without RNG directly affecting you.
