: So I've always looked at the boards
I think people need to stop taking a game so seriously. That's why people are getting mad. You don't need to win every game, and you need to learn to enjoy (or at least be okay with) games you lose.
Akrid415 (NA)
: Is my account fucked?
I wouldn't worry about it so much. Your account is fine, and you're kinda overreacting during a period where everyone else is too. I'm getting a lot of potatoes on my team too the past few days, but I'm not going to get mad about it. I just kept on playing and things are starting to level out.
: New ranked system is a clusterfuck, I think I might quit.
Give it some time... the season barely started and Riot has to iron out the kinks. If you don't like what's going on with wacky MMRs, then take a break until it sorts itself out.
: IMO 9.2 made the game pacing so much better & was a good patch overall.
I'm quite happy with the state of the game right now. Hope Riot keeps it up.
: Riot, I don't like where you're going with all these passes and exclusive skins.
Prestige skins are too convoluted and expensive for me to care. I fully understand what Riot is doing, and I'm not budging. I only ever buy skins that are in the My Shop. IMO I think those are fair prices in a fair system (and thank you to whichever Rioters came up with My Shop and approved it).
: This is why there are so many skins that cover so many alternate fantasies and aesthetics. Not everyone likes Kpop, so they aren't going to release solely K/DA skins. That said, the skin line is popular, so expanding upon it will appeal to many players.
It sounds like OP is infuriated that a lot of people like something he doesn't.
: unpopular opinion k/da isnt that great
That "we" you mentioned evidently doesn't include you. I think Riot absolutely nailed the theme and song. But you know what, I think it's okay not to hold the majority opinion. Although, I definitely think you can be more respectful of it. I can say nasty things about your preference of the odyssey skin line too, but I won't because I don't think it's a civil way to act.
: I understand the design philosophy behind Pyke was an Assassin Support
Hey, at least now as a support main, I finally have a good reason to ban a support champion. /s
: Glad you guys enjoyed it, I have been smiling all day reading the feedback on reddit and youtube, means a lot to me that I was able to connect with so many players. I had a blast writing the script and trying to make it fun and then recording it, couldn't have done it right without all the rioters that gave me feedback and the team that did all the awesome video production. I really wish I had more time to jump on the boards and reddit more often to talk to you guys, but someone has to make sure we make that Ivern skin, I had to show the team the Ivern champ spotlight 3 full times before they actually believed that he was a real champion in the game! Kidding aside, thanks for your support, and looking forward to give you all a ton of killer skins this year! {{sticker:sg-kiko}}

Riot's artists are definitely my favorite. I'm really excited to hear more about that shounen anime inspired theme soon!
: Riot vs. the Boards
Personally, I think the boards are more honest than the subreddit, and would provide even better feedback if Riot actively promoted them. The subreddit is moderated by people with their own prerogatives and wishes for how things flow (like every other subreddit). The boards on the other hand, can be as genuine as Riot wishes to allow them (and more of this ultimately does benefit Riot, because they need to hear it). In my opinion, the reason why the boards can be more negative is because the subreddit prunes these kinds of posts unnaturally. Riot could definitely do the same, but it would be at their detriment. What we see on the boards is probably closer to reality. If people are angry, forcefully silencing them is not a good alternative to solving the reason why they are angry. Sure people can word their anger better... but Riot also needs to understand that not everyone is aware of the impact their words cause. There needs to be constant reminders, but not censorship. Rioters need to learn how to engage with the reality that competitive games make people angry. In conclusion, the boards are as useful as Riot wants to make of them. If Riot doesn't want to learn how to interact with the boards and grow them, then they will be stuck with the artificiality that is reddit. At least vote manipulations and other shenanigans can be seen (and mitigated) by Riot on the boards. I don't know if it's just me, but I've gotten more out of the boards in terms of interaction and discussion than the subreddit where the majority of comments get buried.
: every game is a shutout!
My only problem is _that one asshole_ who won't surrender like the rest of the team wants. I don't care about feeders or losing if the game would just end already. I get kinda pissed when it just drags on and on. The enemy team almost always decides to play it safe anyway, so not like there's much of a shot at making a comeback.
: What I want from the next enchanter champion
I really do want to see more enchanters like Nami. She's so good at engaging and disengaging the enemy, meaning as a support, I can have fun while doing my job.
: they're clearly following orders from the top to make it the game flashy and quick for the '''''''''''e'''''''''' athletes and lcs , if anyone in any job was doing as awful as they are, they'd been sacked months ago
I think you're right on the money. And if it is the case, I feel sorry for the balance team having to take the flak for decisions made higher up. But we probably will never know for sure (not like they're allowed to speak _that _ kind of truth).
: This is true... if you only have fun when you're winning. One of the things that has always baffled me about the playerbase is the people who act like it's only fun to win. Yeah, it's *more* fun to win, pretty much always, but if I didn't enjoy the game when losing, I wouldn't play. That's basically half the time. I would much prefer to play something where I could fun *all* the time, or at least the vast majority.
There have been many games I've won that weren't fun. These are the games were we destroyed the enemy team. That was boring, and I felt sorry for the them. The games I think are fun are the ones were there are mostly equal trades, with the winning team doing something smart that edges them out to victory. I like games that are close to 50% odds of winning, because it means I have to something a little bit better to win (which is reasonable per game IMO).

: I'd just suggest to practice hard and gtfo of your current ELO. You don't improve by playing more games. You improve by finding tips, and apply them to your games, a few at a time, until you're comfortable enough to carry out of trash ELO.
> practice hard Aka: Don't have fun OP isn't talking about improving, he's talking about having fun. If OP and other people of the same level can't enjoy the game together, then the game is the problem.
: Playing League is just like gambling.
The worst part is getting stuck in a long game because people don't want to surrender. Maybe once upon a time, comebacks were more possible and enjoyable, but that's not the case right now.
Elipo (NA)
: So basically you don't like playing ACTUAL league anymore. If you miss blitz I recommend you play hots. It's a really casual mess, just like blitz.
HoTS doesn't have the great character designs, unified theme, or environment League has. Also, I despise the aesthetics of WoW. And before you suggest it, I also think Dota has garbage character design. League is so visually appealing to me. It's too bad that 85% of my experiences playing it are awful.
: I miss nexus blitz so much...
Exactly how I feel when I login to "play" League alone. I stop at the lobby and think to myself, "Do I really want to ruin my day? ... ... ... Nah." and close out. I haven't tried out Nexus Blitz, mostly because I don't trust Riot to make something enjoyable. So it's a "why bother?" on my part. But if Nexus Blitz comes out again, I'll give it a shot.

: Passive Int Feeders What are you doing about it Riot?
It's an unsolvable problem without admission of guilt. There are too many circumstances for why someone is making the decisions they are making, besides sabotage.

: I really hate arguing with people like this, so lemme just give you an essay that you won't get halfway through and then say "nonono, he oneshots please remove from game." First of all, he's an assassin. Hes supposed to kill, thats pretty much all zed does. Imagine if zed couldn't burst down the adc (which is kinda the state he is in now) in a late game, pretty much he goes in, does about 75% of adcs health, gets cced by a support if they have somewhat of a brain, and then adc just kills him, lifestealing everything back up. 4v5, you lose teamfight, there you go, thats game. Reason why zed does well in bronze/silver? Your leona apparently doesn't know how to auto the zed with her q, and lets him do what he wants. Of course hes going to kill your adc. Now you hope that your team has a brain, and splitpush instead. A nice bruiser like camille comes along, has half a brain and built ninja tabi and a steraks, and at that point your damage is pretty pitiful. There goes your push. Adc mains, a word of advice. Build this wonderful item called stopwatch. So let me ask you, what do you get out of playing zed that you dont get from playing someone like syndra, who pretty much does the same thing except with just one button? I will give you a couple of years to get back to me on that one. If your whining, either build armor or a stopwatch, or just get a fking brain and cc the zed. And if a zed goes 30/0, is it really the champions fault or your 0/20 mid laner who after 30 minutes still has not built something called a zhonyas. Im not complaining too much either, zed honestly should be removed. He just dominates low elo too much since cc is hard to use there and even harder is pressing your 1 key where zhonyas is. Buff him even a slight bit, he then becomes broken. But as of now, please name a single zed main that is masters or challenger, if hes so broken you would think there would be quite a lot of them. MAKE THIS CHAMPION THE FIRST LEGACY CHAMPION IN LEAGUE.
> Your leona apparently doesn't know how to auto the zed with her q Zed is one of the most confusing champions to follow. He has teleports, clones, and messy animations. Excuse me if the Leona can't follow what's going on, especially during a team fight. Riot nailed his thematic too well.
: Lolking is shutting down in 2 weeks
That sucks... it was the only resource I know of to see skins in their 3D models. But I'm not surprised. I think the site design turns off a lot of people. I prefer cleaner and brighter interfaces like op.gg
: In what fucking world is Zed balanced?
Was Zed ever balanced? I have hated that champion ever since I started playing the game. He makes squishy supports irrelevant. Thankfully I haven't had to go against him in a while.
: Who decided it was ok to buff khazix?
Who? The people at Riot in charge of finances. This is how they decided to make more money, by artificially raising a champion's play rate.
: 141 Champions...
It is inevitable that some (or most) champions become fodder. The more champions are added, the harder it is to manage balance. More champions = more work, meaning you need to hire more employees, and all of that breaks down at some point. Hence why Riot often puts champions on ice through big nerfs or by forgetting about them. I don't think Riot could sustain very good balance for 141 champions. Some champions aren't preferred by players just based on theme. Riot could buff them to bring up play rate, but if no one buys their skins, why bother (from Riot's PoV)? Look how quickly Kai'Sa got a new skin. Her theme is definitely a big hit with players, and her play rate is very high. I can't fault Riot for making a skin for a popular champion, but I can fault them when they switch that order (that is, making a champion popular for a skin release).

: If at all possible I want to try to climb on my own, any tips at all are appreciated. And yes, I agree, it sucks very very much.
You won't be able to climb on your own if you play regular support champions. And if you play stuff like Brand, you get to the point where you have to question who the support is sometimes. Then you have to wonder, why bother playing support? Bot lane requires two players who work together and are similar in skill. You can't do it solo without getting very frustrated, and almost always losing against a true duo. If you want a solo experience, go mid or literally any other lane that doesn't constantly depend on another player. I'm a support main btw, and I've tried both doing it solo and with a friend. Solo support is awful and will always be that way just because of the fundamental requirements for a successful bot lane.

: ahri didn't need a skin so bad,but if you really wanted to give her one...
Probably because the first one was a huge hit, so Riot is double dipping for the money.
: So you think that more than 500 games stuck at a single relative position in ranked still warrants a shitty matchmaking excuse?
I'm just saying that it's something to _consider_. I'm not stating it as a fact.
KnifeCat (OCE)
: Honestly, the balance team has no clue what they’re doing, it took them several months to realise damage was too high. Several months of people making posts every single day in boards/reddit, the boards was on fire every single day in regards to damage, and multiple streamers had to make videos before Riot was finally like “damage is too high? We’ll look into it” Anyone who has played a few games this season can tell damage was WAY too high. Everyone’s just running around bursting eachother, even classes that build 0 damage, like tanks and supps are chunking you for a good portion of your health. Yet Rito had no clue, it’s like they don’t even play their own game. It seems as though the community has to be on fire about any balance issue before Riot finally realises it..
I think they know what they're doing. They just have someone more important to listen to than the community. Tencent. Consider for a moment the atmosphere between the US and China. Chinese investors are starting to lose money in various areas and they're [slowing down their investments](https://www.forbes.com/sites/ywang/2018/09/25/chinas-tech-giants-turning-away-from-the-u-s-amid-escalating-trade-tensions/amp/). If Tencent demanded that Riot games increase their profits by some unreasonable amount, how would you go about that? Balance for profit. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but when a company doesn't have a choice, they start discarding their ethics.
: I'm Sure Kha Won't Be Broken At All in 8.19
Maybe League shouldn't be treated as a competitive game anymore. If Riot is constantly manipulating the game for a specific outcome, why should anyone care about who's the best, or who has the highest rank, or wins, or whatever?
: >625 games >Literally 50% win ratio If you would be able to climb, you would. It shouldn't take hundreds of games to tell you that when you're hardstuck for a reason. You should reflect on what you do to carry rather in most of your highlight games rather than whine about how the team sucks.
Have you considered that getting hardstuck could occur because of the blackbox algorithm for matchmaking?
HÔPÊ (EUW)
: Play ranked for fun. Just like me. Rank doesn't matter anyways. Not with those stupid changes from our honorable balance team.
Please tell me, how _do_ you have fun in this game? Like, where does the fun start and end? Does it start at, "I'm in lane farming, wooo!" Does it end at, "Yay, I killed someone!" and stay blind to losing the overall game from enemy snowballing? I'm asking because I don't know how to have fun in this game anymore. Many games start horribly, the enemy snowballs, and one or two people on my team refuse to surrender and drag it out as long as possible. How can you have fun in that?

That's how I feel about most of the game. I want to enjoy it, and long ago I did, but it's feels so awful to play right now. League is a game that makes people angry. All of my friends that have ever played ended up rage quitting. I love League's aesthetics, and gameplay, but matchmaking and game balance is very very bad.

: Reminder that Riot tried to make us refer to ADCs as marksmen. Treat iron tier the same way.
Looking back, now it makes sense why Riot tried to change the naming scheme for ADC. But the fact that players ignored the term marksmen, and ADC still laid prominently attached to AD ranged champions tells me Riot should have never tried what the did with "diversifying" bot lane.

I agree that just because someone doesn't associate with your party, doesn't automatically make them or you extremist. Extremists are people who only want their way without concessions or discussing with the other side. There is no universal correctness to politics, and anyone who thinks they are always right and they know best is an extremist. I think that the majority of people on either side of politics are willing to have discussions and work out their differences to reach a solution together. But extremists can prevent that from happening, as is often their plan.

I think Riot made a good call scrapping her. I don't like her design. The resulting Camille and Kai'Sa look way better in my opinion.
: @ Riot: If you "Get woke" you WILL go broke...
I agree with you. I don't want to see Riot listen to extremists. Hiring practices should always be merit based, no matter what. When a company starts hiring people with some other criteria taking precedence, they don't 100% fill their ranks with of the best available talent. Someone with talent and experience realizes that the finesse they need to use when making entertainment. Unless the purpose of the entertainment piece is supposed to be political, don't make it political. That goes for shows, movies, games, etc. When a company starts making their content political, they should expect people who don't agree to stop consuming their content. That loses money, quality, and respect. That's definitely not something players want, or Riot's shareholders. If Riot starts hiring with diversity first, merit second, you will have less qualified people taking jobs where a more qualified person was passed on for not meeting a diversity quota. These unqualified people's work will eventually reverberate throughout League as a game in more aspects beyond art and design. These diversity hires will start making the game political (due to their lack of talent and experience), and they will make the game worse from a game-play standpoint too. Please Riot, don't follow the political trends. Don't kneel to the Twitter mobs. They don't represent the majority of your players, and majority of them don't even play your game. I will only support a Riot that continues to develop League as neutrally, logically, and with as much quality as possible.
