I have an alt account that's a whole tier lower than my main that I use for learning different roles. I'm a support on my main account, so if I tried to play top or jungle in Diamond 4 I would just get destroyed every game and ruin several games for my teammates. I don't really consider it a "smurf" since I don't support on my alt.

: Agree, I still cringe a bit when after my supp takes a kill in a fight he chats "sorry for taking the kill" and I always say that it doesn't matter. Except when is my duoQ premade playing Braum, I flame (we know irl and we play with Skype) him every time he gets the kills because is insane how many kills he can get with a champ like Braum that is not even a mage supp or something that deals dmg.
Yeah Braum is pretty awesome for his base damages and health ratio damage. Might even build Titanic on him if I got fed enough xD. jk

: Don't Bash Your Supports
Never be afraid to take the kill as a support. It's 10 times better than an ability coming up and then they escape. A kill is not just the gold, it's time the enemy can't farm or gain XP. Also if someone starts raging or pinging you about it, just mute them. It's better for your mental if you focus on the game instead of an entitled player being antagonistic.

I think smurfs are fine if they are used to learn a new role or play-style. Also for high-elo streamers that don't want 10 minute+ Q times. I'm sure plenty of people smurf because they don't want to play against better opponents, but to say that this is the only reason is a little naive.

Tank melting with items like rageblade and bork is just way too strong. It would be nice if tanks actually did their job instead of assassinating squishy champions like {{champion:113}} and {{champion:516}} do.

Or gained a big boost of durability! Or healed a lot! Whatever! You have this item, so you are instantly improved by a ton even if you suck! The strengths of these classes basically revolve around the strengths of these items as well as some impact from keystones/runes. It's kind of saddening. Edit: The more I keep going the more I realize almost every "style of play" has one item that's just like "If you don't buy me, you're playing a weakened version of this character". Of course, you can name 1-3 champions for every class that break these rules, but everyone else? It applies. And you know what!? For those champions that do break the rules, unless they just have some insane other item synergy like Zhonya's champions, they just feel awkward to build.
It would be nice if Riot took a page out of the Dota 2 item book. I'm not saying to add full blown 3 tier Necronomicon, but more active items and less stat stick items would be appreciated. Support is fine, but I'm looking more at damage dealers/carries.

: In some sense, I wonder if League would benefit from anti-tilt features like a soft ranked lockout after two losses in a day. It could be as simple as a pop-up saying, “Hey, tilt is real, and we all get it. Take a break and come back in a hour. No need to turn a couple lost games into a couple lost divisions.” Click and hold a button saying, “Hold my Poro Snax and watch this” to queue up again. Add a consoling quote or fact about a pro, and such a feature could decrease number of tilted players, increasing game quality.
I think this would be fine as long as it's optional. Not everyone wants their hand held when things go wrong in life. Not to mention some games can be lost before they start just because of bad team comp. A message like that could come across as insulting.

The threshold for killing a minion with relic is quite a lot, so don't assume the support is going to kill it, and last hit it at low hp like normal. It is never the supports fault you missed a CS unless they auto it when it's low, which is basically trolling unless helping farm under tower

: In my opinion if you dont have a tank in any other role its better to just not try to tank support. Support tanks are secondary tanks they cant really tank major damage. Tank items are designed to be weaker than damage items and supports have weaker items than tank items with only tank stats. Tank items may have good gold efficiency but their slot efficiency is horrible.
I think Alistar is the only one capable of tanking for a decent amount of time, thanks to his R. Maybe a Maokai support if you steal some farm.

: It's a shame the meta is balanced on pro players and not 99.99% of the player base :/ Ryze is so fun to play, but he is weak to the point where casual players can't play him without expecting getting crushed. We always see the same 20 or so champions in pro-play anyways, so why bother to nerf ryze when you could make him accesible to the average player?
If the game was balanced around pro play, we would see almost every champion played in certain situations. This is absolutely not the case.

The price for playing Akali is that your top layer lacks utility, or your mid laner lacks cc/waveclear. She wins a lot of 1v1 matchups but that's basically why she has no cc.

Wait, you are silver II, and it's possible to get placed in high gold, so why would it be wrong to put someone in placements in you're game? There is no easy solution to calibrating someone's rank, and someone will have to suffer to put them at the right Elo. Let me put it this way, there's a 4/9 chance that a player like this gets put on your team, and a 5/9 chance that they get placed on the enemy team. If you play a statistically significant number of games you should get more new comers on the enemy team.

I would honestly rather a mid main play a mage support than try something he/she is uncomfortable with. There are plenty of examples of mage supports that function decently on low income. {{champion:63}} {{champion:143}} {{champion:161}} These are not troll support picks.

I don't really agree with this... I came from a different esport game called CS:GO, and there was a matchmaking system that placed you at your correct rank based on your skill. When I switched over to league, I saw that ranked was pretty much the same thing, so I just immediately started playing ranked after I hit level 30. I knew that I was going to be bad, but I also knew that the fastest way to get better at the game was to play against and with people who were actively trying to win and play their best. I ended up getting placed in Bronze III, and I got a lot of flame from people who made comments such as "You're the reason I'm stuck in bronze." and other ridiculous claims. After dedicating a lot of time and learning I eventually reached platinum after 8 months of playing the game. To summarize, I'm basically saying that the ranked system will place you at the correct Elo based on your performance as long as you play a statistically significant amount of games. One person ruining one game is not going to make a difference.

I think Brand's W is not really that bad. To compensate for it's medium radius, it had a fairly short range, which allows you to play mind games to bait out the W. If Brand really wants to guarantee a hit, he has to put himself in a position to get traded on or all-in'd.

: Randomness isn't all or nothing dude, idk how you can't wrap your head around it. I don't know the exact numbers, but I know the method of pseudo-randomness. If I have a crit chance, the system basically says "your first few hits have a lower chance of crit but the more you attack without getting a crit then the high a chance we'll give you of getting one on your next hit" Once you crit, it resets. The higher crit you have either increases the starting chance of a crit or the scaling, or both (idk). The point is that it still functions off of *chance* (even if it is skewed) and while the *odds* may favor one result over the other, there's still a *luck* factor. chance, odds, and luck all revolve around randomness my dude. It's not *true* randomness, but there's absolutely no fucking way you believe there's no randomness at all in crit.
I think you guys agree but you are just arguing semantics.

I don't really think it matters what the runes manifest as. I'm pretty sure most people, myself included, just go on op.gg and copy runes/builds. Nothing really changed for me except that I got all runes for free.

I think this is a misconception. In matchmade games, red side is given a higher MMR than blue side due to the "natural advantages" that blue side gets. Things like first pick and river access to baron. These things don't really matter that much in soloQ, so games tend to be one sided. At least that's my theory behind the whole "50% wr lock" that the boards brings up.

By playing those games with your friend your MMR was increased to match with his level of players. That means when you go to play solo, you will also face those players unless you lose a lot on your own so your MMR can go back down to bronze :)
: The biggest problem with Akali and LeBlanc is that their respective player bases love them because of the very things that make them toxic and impossible to balance. It is a no win situation for Riot because either they waste time and money trying (and failing) to keep what makes the champions "special", or they rebuild the kit to something reasonable and alienate the fanbase. According to Riot they have dumped a load of time into trying to fix LB on internal builds with no payoff. They have gone above and beyond to try and preserve her playstyle while making it fair. All evidence suggests that her W R W combo can NEVER be balanced, the mobility and disengage is so high that the rest of her kit has to be nerfed to crap. Mixing the range and damage of a burst mage with the target access and escape of an assassin is a recipe for failure. Akali breaks the unwritten rules of League by having the sustain and durability of a diver with the burst damage and target access of an assassin. She needs to lose one or the other. Any rework that tries to keep both aspects of Akali will either be a weak clunky compromise built around gimmicks or another unbalanced mess.
Isn't that the definition of a fighter though? A champion that can burst squishies with some sustain and durability? These are champions that are supposed to excel at 1v1's and 1v2's but have weaknesses when grouping is forced. Not to mention that Akali doesn't really have built in durability; she just gets it from runes/items.

I don't understand what the point is of showing the ranked MMR of the players. Ranked and Normal are two different ladders, and have completely separate MMR values for each player. That's like a gold nova 2 in CS:GO complaining about getting matched against a player that is challenger in LoL. This post has been made a thousand times before and it's really pointless.

: The main problem is Riot keeps adding more and more ways to kill towers, but no ways to defend them. First it was changing baron from boost to regen into almost undefendable super minions, then mountain and fire drakes, rift herald and even this absurd demolish rune, that allows tanks to do 1k or so damage to turrets mid to lategame.

: Yes and it doesn't matter. When the game starts forcing you to play ranked to have fun (playing against people of your skill) you know there's something VERY wrong with it.
Believe it or not, normals and ranked are exactly the same at the core. Players are matched based on their MMR in that Q. The only thing that makes ranked different is that there is a fancy RANK tacked on to it and you have promos. Plus the whole Challenger ladder. The only thing 'fun' about normals is the absence of ladder anxiety.
: Maybe just give them ***some*** more resistances? I mean, you don't need to make them tanks. Just throw 4 points of armor and MR their way. Now they don't die the second anyone but an enchanter or another ADC walks on-screen. Give everyone else more armor and/or MR than they get. Now everyone's happy.

: yea, snowballing with a few champs that are just fed a little is out of control. Yas, Yi and Xin the most obvious. Yi reminds of the Yi from years ago where he gets just a bit fed in jungle and then it's GG -- he's become unstopable.
Or you could draft malz and press R on him. Or pick Annie and one shot him. Or pick sejuani and cc him for 5 seconds. Yi is only good if you waste too many coolfdowns

Also abusing the fact that the enemy team has 0 vision killsssss them late.

The thing i have come to know, is cannon minion waves are your best friend, they are the strongest waves in lane phase and as long as it isn't crashing in, it takes a while for one side to win even with a laner pushing pretty hard, giving you a decent extra window of time for you to get back to lane or do what you need to.
Yes, a lot of people don't understand that backing right before a cannon wave is a good way to lose your tower hp.

I hate to break it to ya, but mage supports lost 15.5 MPen from the new runes, while adc's lost 12 MR. While they do get a fair amount of early AP from the Sorcery Tree, this is made up for by losing the 72 health, making them even more squishy in lane. That's why engage tank supports are actually stronger atm than mage supports like Zyra and Brand. The win rates cement this. imo anyways

: What's even more aggravating is as soon as one team gets a turret they can just 4 man into another lane and take that tower before you can even rebound the wave. Even if you do pressure their turret in the lane that went down, they can almost always make it there to punish you.
If the enemy bot lane takes your tower, you should be rotating to match them, while bot lane becomes a safe farm lane for mid or top. This can actually be pretty decent, as the bot lane becomes a freeze as long as you have enough wave-clear to defend turrets. The only downside is if you RNG infernal drake, then losing that tower is pretty bad. I don't like this mindset that losing first tower is somehow end of the world.

Why not just hard push Cannon wave into turret and back after that? Or if you are getting shoved in, ask your jungler to come push the lane. Backing right before a Cannon wave is a surefire way to lose your turret.

: i used to check this items win percentage pretty regularly, and it comes up in the highest winrate items A LOT. The only item ive ever seen higher than infinity edge. Havent checked in a lil while so im not sure, but there are people out there, hiding in the millions of players, abusing this thing with pretty good success. Ive seen it been used as a "sell an item late when ahead, buy ohm and dive nexus towers" cheese also, but i dont know how often this happens.
I can answer this for you from personal experience. I built this item as alistar in ranked when we were way ahead and ran into the base and used it and ran out. Just to BM. People only build it as a meme if the game is beyond over.
