I don't know if its been mentioned, but I feel you're forgetting my personal favorite class; the Battlemages. {{champion:30}} {{champion:127}} {{champion:136}} {{champion:8}} {{champion:50}} and maybe {{champion:82}} (if you don't want to put him in AP Bruiser) who build all the AP Bruiser items but also function with the burst items. I would love these guys to get more diverse itemization, but I worry that cracks would start to show in balancing the Battlemages if this happened. Thoughts?

There's a certain degree to which I agree, but then again he's a late-game powerhouse who builds {{item:3027}} {{item:3116}} {{item:3151}} with possible additional dips into {{item:3157}} {{item:3165}} {{item:3102}}, so I don't think a buff to his tank stats would be appropriate.

Aren't the two tied up together? By making CC last for shorter periods, they had to push damage to increase the likelihood that you could actually do anything in the time. To fix it, they'd have to either tackle both at once (which is a lot of levers to handle) or take turns incrementally scaling both back

Basically it works on a formula based on what kind of CC and how many times you've been hit recently. For example, let's use Morgana's level 5 Q Dark Binding. At level 5, dark binding roots for 2.5 seconds. So the first time you get hit, you would be binded for the full duration, but lets say you're playing against a Lux too, and you get hit by her light binding right as Morgana's dark binding is about to wear off. This is where diminishing returns kicks in and cuts a little time off of Lux's root since you had just suffered the full effects of Morganas. This effect stacks to a maximum threshold and makes chain CC a lot less cancerous. There would be different times for each type of CC of course. What do you guys think? Would diminishing returns possibly solve our CCed to death issue we've been having? Let's be honest, dying because you got hit by one ability at full health and being chain CCed to death with no chance at even fighting back feels shitty.

Yours actually now come with a downside; she gets to use them, and because she gets to use them, she gets her W passive. Urgot was designed to be a ranged juggernaut, and as such his tools were balanced around the fact that he had Sterak's available to him. A while later they changed the item to be melee only and he received no compensation. Side note, don't bring up items that OTHER JUGGERNAUTS CAN BUILD TOO.

I feel like we romanticize the tank meta a lot. I miss it, sure, but I liked Sejuani and Cho'Gath and was glad to see them playable, so Im a bit biased. Remember when Sejuani did as much damage as a fed Lee? Remember long team fights that didn't accomplish much? Remember when, for real, having fewer than 2 tanks was trolling, and having 4 was perfect? I remember, and as a tank player I long for the days I could waltz into the enemy team, knowing they too were low damage tanks that couldn't do real damage to me (unless, again, someone was playing Sej), but I don't think we really want those days back.

I have to disagree to a point. His new R is stupid, gimmicky, and buggy, and while I understand that his old R was an uninteractive garbage ability, I think they could have done something cooler. That said, his new Q is SO much better. First of all, from an immediate perspective, its more rewarding to smash two dudes together than to just sort of slow some people. It gives him more options, more passive blobs, and more utility. His damage has suffered, I suppose, but is that really a bad thing? Some champions don't deal damage. Zac is now one of them. I don't see the problem.

So by your own omission garen should have been relatively tanky. Certainly not so lack of defense that yorick all but 1 shot him.
Nice try but Yorick built 2 offensive items and Garen was basically taking true damage from all his attacks. He can absolutely deal, what, like 300 damage? Yeah, that's not a lot.

Because he isn't rewarded for building tank the way actual tanks are. His passive rewards building HP and his abilities reward building AD. He doesn't want too many tank items because it completely gimps his ability to do anything. Tanks aren't tanks because they're innate tank stats are so high, its because they build tank items on purpose.

Garen does not have sustain. He can build tank-y, sure, but he cannot sustain. He is a juggernaut, a League of Legends term used by the dev staff to describe a champion with high health pools, low defensive stats, and high AD. They dish out a lot of damage and can take quite a bit themselves, but lack mobility and are susceptible to %maxhp damage, making them perfect targets for kiting adcs and the like.

Yes, Ahri is burst-y. Bard is not a mage. Brand is absolutely a burst mage. Cho'Gath is a burst mage once out of lane (he hits you with hit knock-up and you're dead in like a second). Mundo is...not a mage. Ekko is a burst mage. Elise is a burst mage. Evelynn can absolutely burst you down without Ult. Galio is a tank. Gragas is a tank (AP Gragas doesn't count because his damage after level 10 is shit). Ivern and Janna are supports. Kayle is a fighter with AP scalings. Kennen can burst you. Lux isa burst mage. Malphite is a tank, but building him AP makes him a burst mage (Seriously try it, its actually pretty fun). Nami is a support. Nidalee is bad right now, but she SHOULD be bursting people. Orianna's ult is on a negligible cooldown, and even if wasn't she's still burst-y. Rakan is a support. Rengar is an AD assassin, why is he even here? Shaco is also an assassin who only rarely builds AP. Sona and Soraka are supports. In what universe is Syndra NOT a "burst mage"? Taric and Tahm are tanks. Tristana is an adc. VEIGAR IS THE BURSTIEST MAGE EVER. Vel'Koz is hard to classify, but he's definitely got burst. Warwick is a fighter; I don't even think he SCALES on AP. Xerath is a burst mage. Ziggs is a burst mage. Zilean is a burst mage. Do you know what any of these champs do?

If it was too difficult to hit no one would play Zoe. Eventually she'll hit you, not because you played badly, but because she played well. Its the same with every skill shot. Blitz hits hooks on even wary players, as does Illaoi, as does every champion.

It does seem like the kind of thing that could be as simple as a little red bar on the top of the screen. It could flash full red as you enter combat, and decrease over the span of however long it takes to not be dealing or taking damage to be "out" of combat, and flash blue and disappear when out of combat. I feel like that wouldn't be hard to do; clearly the game is already tracking it somehow, just give us that information. As an Aatrox player it is quite annoying to not know exactly how long I can be not attacking waves without losing my Blood Well.
