Maokai is a tank. Tanks are supposed to do damage. They're basically melee range mages. If they didn't do damage how would they pull aggro outside of Shen/Rammus/Galio taunt? Here's the kicker. Tanks are supposed to have an emphasis on AoE damae. This keeps them a threat in team fights, but means that they lose in a 1v1. For example, Maokai vs Trundle.

A champion must be able to put out a minimum amount of damage in order to be viable as anything other than a support. Otherwise they become 100% reliant on their team. Take Braum for example. He does so little damage that he simply cannot CS or wave clear *at all*. He also does barely any damage to objectives like drakes or the baron. Do you want every single tank to be like Braum? Good for literally nothing but CC and being a meat shield? Maybe you enjoy having zero damage and agency, but a lot of people have fun making tank plays. In the mean time you can OTP with Braum.

In order to get the most out if her heal she needs to bounce it off the enemy. Same for Soraka in needing to land her Q in order to heal herself and empower her ally heal.

Or your team can refuse to group or follow your calls while they repeatedly die. Then the enemy eventually catches up to you as you fall off and they win.

So if you get 5 take downs then Maiden ends it reduces the CD by 40%

The critmen who were too overbearing before the recent crit nerfs. Janna herself isn't going to be given all the kill gold by her team or fighting a fed Rangar 1v1 and killing him.
