It also boosts the Redemption heal, and as I said it gives you health regen which helps you stay out of base, warding, getting xp. Most games will have something you can use it on, most forget the speed boost it gives.

Neither does {{item:3107}}. {{item:3098}} only gives a pathetic 20 AP. {{item:3504}} is pretty much the majority of your non-rune based AP.

Soraka has horrifically low base to AP ratio scaling on her W. She only needs 333 AP to double the healing on her W. So 10% heal power = 33 AP at 0 AP. So, like Deathcap's passive, heal power is pretty lame until you get a good amount of base AP to power it with. As for Athene's itself she's not the best at effortlessly charging it, but if the enemy isn't running a five man assassin team and you're feeling ballsy? Go for it. The bigger your heals the less of your own HP you have to spend.

This is a very nice message and all, but I will step in and point out that it is increasingly demoralizing when a team mate just stands there and watches you die, your ADC builds the wrong items and does dps on the level of a Janna support by 40 min in, or the schmuck who got autofilled as a support didn't buy a gold gen item and instead fights your ADC for CS. In glorious Gold rank no less. :>

Supports aren't allowed to have high income because it's an relatively risk free option in comparison to going solo in top/mid. To a lesser degree this is why the jungle also offers lower gold income. No one wants to see someone go afk Veig support and end up just as strong as the, much riskier, Veig mid who has a larger chance of getting shut down hard. Redemption, Ardent, Grail, and Mikael's are balanced around being cheaper by having +heal power and passives that not everyone can use. It's much harder for Brand to get any real use out of Ardent+Unholy than it is for Sona.

R doesn't make him a complete sitting duck thanks to self shield. Swain - Just all around better. Sion - Now a very unique champion. Soraka - Remade so she didn't have to be either useless or broken. (I don't like the post rework Q rework though. They took out skill by removing the sweet spot.)
