: I feel like Jhin staged the entire confrontation perfectly. His traps were spot on, one Lotus for one of her soldiers. He aimed his 3 shots perfectly to cause her to rise higher and higher, so when she descends, she is in frame for the explosions. As Jhin bows, the probably best shot LoL has ever done is created. I feel like Jhin went full "The Thinker" on everyone and planned this whole thing for 4th wall entertainment. What's your opinion on that, since you were the lead on Jhin?
He's for sure going to hit her with a surprize fourth shot so he can get away.

Pretty sure the arrows are suppose to be in refernce to high stocks, which fits the skin already.
: They need to embellish a bit more on Demacian positive aspects. The sense of unity between people that gets touched on in a couple stories often gets overlooked by the community and we brand Demacia as the Runeterran equivalent of Salem. Nobody talks about how Demacians helped Garen back on his feet after his uncle died > All of Demacia seemed to rally around Garen after the death of his uncle. Strangers on the street, including commoners with little to call their own, expressed their condolences, gave him gifts of respect, and offered adages of support. He was surrounded by compassion and saw Demacia as a kingdom of unity where people took care of one another, healing wounds of others as if wounds to themselves. He saw an ideal Demacia, where no one was ever truly alone. and conversely Garen taking care of his fellow Demacians when J4 was thought to have been killed > For days, Garen was inconsolable. He couldn’t stop blaming himself for the prince’s death, even as his family and fellow soldiers tried to convince him otherwise. He remembered how the kingdom rallied around him following his uncle’s demise, and wished he could do the same for the kin of his fallen soldiers. He took up residence in the barracks with his fellow soldiers in training, and all that he earned went toward supporting the families of the fallen. Poppy finding her place in the world after feeling alienated because of how different she was when compared to her fellow yordles J4s journey of self-discovery and his acceptance of Shyvana The nations adoption of outsiders like Xin Zhao and Sona That's what Demacia is truly about, a place where everyone can belong and where everyone looks out for each other. Where higher principles like courage, communal service and duty still mean something. The wrinkle that makes Demacia interesting is that all that positive stuff is conditional, mages are persecuted, the nobility is privileged and certain aspects of their society are highly regimented like the military and law. The key is to not lose sight of the positive stuff by over-embellishing it's flaws or painting them as villains which is what everyone gets caught up in. From a Worldbuilding point of view remember that Demacia is supposed to represent a bulwark of the past losing its' way in a modernizing world. There is a lot of value in the ideals Demacia will bring into this new world if it can survive the transition, but that's the challenge. Will Demacia flourish or flounder and champions like Lux who represent a more worldly view while still maintaining the core Demacian principles represent what it could be.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Don’t get rid of the bad elements, but emphasize the positive aspects as well.
Vlada Cut (EUNE)
: Yes but why explain how good Demacia is in a story of a dude who only hates it. I think we should know exactly HIS reasons as to why he hates Demacia so much, I mean we already one one reason already, and that's mages being unwelcomed there.
Yeah, of course from Sylas’ perspective we’d only see the bad parts of Demacia, and his story will likely focus on the short comings of the nation. However, if past trends are anything to go off of, there will likely be stories outside of his released as well, and I hope that those highlight some of the good parts of their society.
: Is it even confirmed that we are getting new demacian lore other then his short story ¿
Hmm, true, could be. I just assumed since it would make sense (like how with Neeko they touched on some other related champions' lore).

Sorry, poorly worded. I meant "any kind of feelings" in the sense that I couldn't see him feeling any type of attraction to others including sexual ones, thus making him asexual by extention. I can see that it reads like me saying asexuals don't devlop feelings; my bad.

We've got abilities like Event Horizon and Dark Matter which are obviously Science and power related but his connection to those things is... unexplained. I guess that's more of a lore issue than a VU issue but just something that's always made me curious. I love Veigars voicelines so much, they add so much depth to his character. I'd be sad to see any of them go, but I would love to see a bunch of more interactions and absurd jokes about power and his height complex. What I was more trying to say was that the characterization of Lissandra rubbed me the wrong way. I don't quite know how to explain it, but if I were to try my best to put it into words I'd say it was like in trying to make Lissandra morally gray, the writiers made her feel like she's every level on the morality scale at the same time, or maybe a beter way of phrasing it would be that she's playing almost every role in the story. Not sure if that makes sense but that's as best as I can describe it. > > Once again, this is largely just my first thoughts on reading it. Perhaps as I see and read more of this different Lissandra I'll come to like her, but as for my first impresstion I'm not blown away. The problem is that you know both sides. Repeat, we know both sides. Every villain has their reason for doing what they do. Some have more well intentioned goals than others. Now, she is still cunning. She does have plans within plans. The problem is that we know her limit. "The Watchers". We now know that there is something ABOVE her that she's trying to fight off, so now she seems "good" in comparison because it is a greater terror. That by no means make her good. In fact, she is not an anti-hero. She's an ANTI-VILLAIN! Anti-villains can be many things. I believe Liss case, she's the "lesser villain." As in, while she is dastardly, she appears good or less evil because there is a GREATER ONE present. All the dark things she's doing now. Honestly, she probably would have done regardless. The problem is that she has to also deal with a boogeyman.
Fair enough, but if that’s suppose to be the case, that’s not what it came off like to me. Overall I think that her lore did a poor job of displaying this concept. Lissandra doesn’t feel cunning to me or that she has any plan at all. The reason this happens in the first place is because she makes a bad decision without consulting the sisters she claims to love first (on a side note, the bio doesn’t really explain why she needs to kill them to freeze The Watchers. It says she has to either let the Void take the world or sacrifice her sisters, but why? Says who?). This also makes it seem like she didn’t learn anything from being blinded. It was something that happened in her war for power; she learned the price that power costs, yet she messes everything up because of not taking in account the consequences that seeking even more might have. I guess that’s the biggest thing. Lissandra doesn’t come off as cunning because all the evil things that she does come from her making bad choices and then making even worse ones in trying to cover up how much she screwed up. Her actions don’t feel like she was purposely trying to be malicious; she became a villain because of her poor judgement. And the thing is she still is making them. She keeps all this a secret from everyone basically just so no one knows the danger she put the entire world in, and acts like the only one who can stop The Watchers. However, given how they’re beginning to break, it’s clear she needs help. You might say, “everyone would turn her down or try to kill her for what she did instead” but if that’s the case don’t make me assume that would happen, the story should show me. SHOW me they don’t trust her, SHOW me that she at least tried to convince powerful beings like Ornn or Anivia or maybe the other Ice Born to put hatred aside to defeat a greater evil, but was turned away anyway. She feels like she became a villain on accident, as a biproduct her making mistakes, but also either doesn’t learn or doesn’t want to admit to her past actions which makes her seem like a coward. In the end, I don’t think she comes off as a master-mind because it doesn’t feel like she knows what she’s doing. (Sorry for the long response by the way).
: I think she’s definitely **not** capable of solving this problem, one because she cannot create True Ice. We do know who can however, and that would be the boy Nunu, who was empowered by the Yeti Willump. Like with many of the regions, there are multiple levels of villainy/antagonism found in the Freljord. As the Void presents an omnipresent danger, it will be the most threatening factor found in the Region. Lissandra wants to rule the Freljord, or at least ensure her own necessity to the Freljord’s survival. And maybe that’s how she wants to see herself, the only one with the capability to comprehend the enemy. Lissandra cannot allow the truth of her betrayal to surface. Because only she can stop the Void. Or so she thinks. Anyway, I think what the update accomplishes is cementing Lissandra’s position within the Narrative direction for the Lore. I’m positive that at least all recent narrative updates have been made with a consistent vision in mind.
When I mentioned her "solving" the problem I more so was talking about her freezing The Watchers in the first place as well as keeping them there; I would be willing to bet that the ice that holds them won't hold for long which is something that I agree Liss can't fight on her own. I figure Riot would want to craft it's own response as a company, but I'm surprised that there wasn't at least a “we've seen it and are discussing it internally” response I feel like we won’t get a very detailed response from something like this because anything that would happen would be something in-company. Things like large-scale cracking down on discriminative behavior, legal action, or laying off are likely things that wouldn’t be openly shared with the general public, as there’s probably a lot of privacy issues involved in them. If/when any action happens Riot isn’t going to make direct references to it. I certainly hope that changes are made because they absolutely should, but if/when it does I doubt we’re going to see or hear about it unless info gets leaked.

I mainly used this contest as an excuse to practice my digital art since I’m very new to it and it definitely was not easier than traditional drawing at all. I’ve been using Photoshop to draw digitally and spent hours trying to figure out how to best use the tools to make my piece. By the time I was out of time to work on it before having to turn it in, I still wasn’t satisfied with it. Not to mention that seeing my average at best entry next to a lot of quality pieces showed me how much I need to learn about the medium.

I'm more worried about the people unlucky enough to be near the end of the pages. Most people aren't going to spend hours trying to shift through all of them so if you get stuck later in the line you're pretty much screwed. Tentative plan is to remove the monster AS slow and replace it with a heal that scales with Kindred's missing health. > While we're working on the W already we're also hitting a couple of notable bugs with it. The first is that some of Wolf's visual effects aren't playing properly when he hits, making the skill less satisfying to use and a bit harder to follow. : >Her appearance. The jutting weaponry is offset by her attractive face and body. If the suit were thicker to cover her feminine curves and always covered her face, there'd be an argument for it. This occured to me too. but since we discussing this from the view of people in Runettera, here is a question : Do you think from stand point of a nation that is being terrorized by the most horrofic creatures of existance for generations, a pretty face and a hot butt is the first thing that comes to their minds, when they see a woman who half of her body looks just like those creatures? Imagine someone with Arachnophobia. you think if they see an Arachne, a creature of half woman half spider (Elise is the closest example in league) they going to be attracted to her figure? From our view we know what she is.from their view however, she is just a monster that looks half human. and she is there to kill them just like the rest of the monsters!
On top of that, the fact that she doesn't come of as malicious might just make people suspicious of her. Most Sharimans would probably find it hard to trust a girl who came out of the Void after living in there for years no matter how non-treating she appears to be at first; especially when there's already so many rumors about her.
: Problem is your logic is clouded by a modern-world perspective, and it seems this is an issue others have as well.
This. So many people aren't considering that the people scared of her are in-universe. They've been told horrible stories about the Void their whole lives so seeing a girl who's literally covered in a Void creature would at the very LEAST make them very uneasy around her.

That's just my opinion though of course. But the disaster wasn't connected to the Void in any way, at least not in Kass' bio. He basically gets told that his village fell into a sinkhole. And he gets there. Yep. Village fell into a sinkhole and sand is filling it in. No gribblies. No void bugaboos. Just a hole in the ground. How does he know it was related to Malz and the Void? As opposed to, say, some asshole with the power to move rock around via force of will? 'cuz apparently there are people like that in Shurema.
I don't think they ever said that. In the story it's states: "Journeying home from distant Piltover, Kassadin and his fellow caravaneers were watering their beasts at an oasis when they encountered the first terrified survivors stumbling out of the desert. They spoke of the disaster that had claimed their homes,** as if the maw of the underworld itself had opened up to devour them**. They had barely escaped with their lives. Fearing for his own family’s safety, Kassadin left the others behind, riding hard, driving his mount almost to exhaustion. When he finally reached the place where his village had once stood, he found only shifting sand and rubble. He clawed at the debris until his hands bled, screaming out his wife and daughter’s names, though no answer came. Days later, Kassadin’s companions caught up to him, now just a broken and empty man weeping beneath the scorching sun." It doesn't seem to say outright that his village was destroyed by the Void but it seems heavily implied. Even in the off-chance it was a completely unrelated event, Kassadin himself is fully convinced that it's the Void, "He knew well the legends of old Icathia, and the fate that befell that accursed place—if the Void had been deliberately drawn toward Shurima once more, then it had likely been the death of his entire village, and countless more besides." HE thinks it was the Void so it makes sense that he'd go after Malz since he's the Prophet of the Void. In the event he's wrong, that could potentially be a possible story path for them to for down the line; one were Kass finds out-much later that the Void didn't kill his family and that he's been hunting it for nothing. He would realize that he made a ton of extreme decisions based off rumors and his own pain and jumped into something much bigger than him way too fast. He'd then have to come to terms with the fact that the death of his wife and kid was no one's fault and there's nothing he can do about it but let go of his grief, while also having to realize that he's gotten so involved with the Void that fighting it is now a duty, and that he needs to let the past go to stop the greater evil (something along those lines at least). Whether or not the Void actually destroyed his village isn't clear but i doesn't matter because Kassadin believes it thus making his desire to get Malz make sense to him. Both directions also have multiple possibilities for interesting plot development depending on how the writers want to develop the character (we didn't even go into what story could come out of the Void really being the thing that destroys his village or what might happen when/if he meets Kai'Sa).
: They stripped Kassadin's story and Malzahar's story of their relationship other than vague rumors. In the old lore, Kassadin was someone Malzahar wanted to become consumed by the Void and join him, so to goad Kassadin into going to the Void, he hurled his daughter into it. Immediately that established a hate relationship between Kassadin and Malzahar, and gives us a more human reason and understanding of Kassadin. Their new lore is vague as hell. Kassadin's spent the better part of his bio discussing his name and the fact that he collected treasures. Malzahar's talked about his visions and ability to open the Void on Runeterra. There is no cross over between the two, as Malzahar's story doesn't even have him maliciously cross paths or plan to dick with Kassadin. But then Kassadin hearing a rumor suddenly pins all his hate on Malzahar and goes on a crusade. The personal vendetta and their relationship in the old lore is non-existent, and it just feels so much more hollow and less impactful than the old lore. It'd be the same as if my dog suddenly went missing and then me going on a rampage against the CEO of Maybelline if I read a news story that they did animal testing on dogs. It's just ridiculous and not very well put together. I usually commend the direction that the lore team goes, but their storytelling lately has been collapsing and of a particularly low quality.
I get what you're saying but I feel it still makes a far amount of sense as to why Kass goes after Malzahar. Malz probably didn't directly cause the death of his family but in the state of heartbreak that he was in likely left him wanting to get some sort of closure. Upon hearing about a man who claims to be the Prophet of the Void and who sacrifices people and animals to the same force that killed is wife and daughter, he might see it as a way to avenge his loved ones, fighting the Void and its Prophet. You might say it's illogical to go after Malz or to think he could take on the Void, but the thing is he likely isn't thinking logically. Even his comrades call him crazy for trying it but he goes ahead anyway, because feelings of grief cause people to do sometimes illogical things. I do think it kinda sucks that it's much more impersonal and that's something they should've worked on more but I also think it shows how the incident effected Kass pretty well (at least for a short bio). That's just my opinion though of course.

: Will non new/reworked champions have their login theme playing at there start of the game aswell?
Doesn't Jhin have this too, or is it just if you get the whistle on your first move?
: Now that her lore’s been released, here are my honest thoughts on Kai’Sa.
I feel like there’s a few things you can change/add to fix these issues: 1. Make Kai’sa around the 15 year age range. It’s more believeable that a 15-year-old is capable of survival in a hostile environment than a 10-year-old, who in some cases might be too naive to notice a danger before it already kills them. 2. Have Kai’sa be there for at least a month before she gets the suit. This would show she survived a fair amount on her own and that the suit was picked up as a last resort. Which leads into my next point... 3. Write a scene we’re she sees some creature killing a symbiotic Void being to gain enhanced abilities by wearing its skin, thus causing her to do the same. This would be after being in that rift between the Void and our world for a good deal of time and becoming desperate to survive, so desperate she’s willing to let some of the Void grow on her if it gives her the ability to live. Having the decision to gain the suit be not only purposeful but also based off the actions of a non-human creature stresses the theme of adapting which she’s all about. If we want to take it one step further, what if the creature she watches kill the symbiotic organism is a another’s Void monster that wanted to gain more beneficial traits (I think it’s fair assume that Void creatures are fine with killing each other; after all, what do they eat down there). If I’m remembering correctly, Kai’Sa’s voiceover has a line that goes something like, “The only way to survive the Void, become like them”. Something like this would push that idea to the maximum, literally observing and mimicking one of them to avoid death. Overall I like Kai’Sa myself. I think she’s neat, has a place in the overall lore, and I’m interested to see what happens when she comes into contact with other characters (namely Kassadin). However, I feel like there were some poor story choices in the set-up to her origin that unfortunately effected the rest of her lore as a result.
