: Sc2 and heroes of the storm really left me with the impression that blizzard doesn't know what to do with a competitive game, although hearthstone is a big hit so eh, if overwatch ends up being a hit and not just a fad I'd call it even. But man, they did sc2 so horribly wrong that I would still be very skeptical. The thing about sc2 is that they nailed the feel of game down, it was an amazing game to simply play, exactly like overwatch. But when it came to making a competitive game, blizzard had no idea how to do it properly.
Hearthstone esports is definitely good, but the one thing I hate is their spectator system. They use the built-in one for the client that only shows one player's perspective since it was designed so that people couldn't abuse it.

Interesting theory. We know for a fact that the void monsters have their species, so there's other 'Sai, 'Gath, 'Zix, 'Maw, and 'Koz out there. But are those their names in the Shuriman language, or in just a more common tongue? I think it's merely just a coincidence. There's probably more to Azir and Sivir's full names than we currently know. They could have numbers (like Henry VIII kind of numbers) or titles that better indicate familial bonds.

: How come Nidalee can heal point click for half her damn HP and Bard's heal does jack?
While you do have a point, I'm going to play devil's advocate because there's some points you didn't cover and some of your points didn't quite hit the mark. First up, mana costs. While Bard's does cost more mana earlier, it flattens out late game and becomes even with Nidalee's (100/105/110/115/120 for Bard, 60/75/90/105/120 for Nidalee). Looking at the numbers, it does look like Nidalee has the advantage, but there's much more to it than these numbers. Bard can have up to three health packs active on the field, plus he can still target an ally and heal them even with three health packs already active. Secondly, Bard also has his chimes to collect, which restore **12%** of his maximum mana. Not to mention, Bard can drop a health pack anywhere and it can still be used, while Nidalee's heal has a 600 range. Provided Bard is actually roaming and dropping health packs and collecting chimes, Bard's early game heal is actually more effective. For the actual health recovered, it gets a bit more complicated. The main thing to keep in mind when talking about these numbers is the Nidalee is primarily a mage and Bard is primarily a support, so naturally Nidalee will have more AP than Bard because of their builds. Nidalee's numbers are 45/85/125/165/205, plus 50% of her AP, and Bard's are 30/60/90/120/150 plus 20% of his AP at a minimum, and 70/110/150/190/230 plus 45% AP at the maximum. Obviously, you can tell that the empowered Bard heal is more effective at base value than Nidalee's, but that requires 10 seconds of charging up. The best way to counteract that is to play League like a chess game: always be planning not just your next move, but the next few moves after that as well. Make sure there is always a health pack in your lane at a safe location, preferably under your turret and away from harm. In a cinch, Bard can always use the point-and-click heal, but then your ADC should always go get the charged health pack as soon as they're safe. Nidalee's heal is immediate and big, but she needs to be in human for to use it, sacrificing the mobility and single target damage her cougar form gives. She would need to make sure she's at a safe enough place in the fight to turn back into her human form to heal, and then trigger her passive to get back in. Also, if you take into account the fact that Bard can have multiple health packs at once, Bard's heal can do at least as much, if not more than Nidalee's heal if two or more health packs are used. During team fights, Bard should actually not be focusing on healing. He is much more positioning-focused, since the rest of his kit relies on his and his ally's/enemy's position. Getting a Mikeal's Crucible would be the way to go for not just Bard, but any support, if they want a reliable heal during a teamfight, plus it has the additional cleanse that no other heal has. For Nidalee, as soon as the fight begins, she's done poking in her human for and getting into the fray with cougar form. Healing is not the priority for either of these people in team fights (see Soraka). The additional stats these provide show how these heals are meant to be used. Bard's heal provides 50% movement speed for 1.5 seconds, making it more useful for defensive healing, ie, after a scuffle in lane, the heal and movement speed help to disengage from the fight. Nidalee's heal grants bonus attack speed (20%/30%/40%/50%/60%) for 7 seconds, making it useful for, not team fights, but sieges. Think about it: in team fights, you're not just auto attacking; you're constantly re-positioning yourself, using abilities, or just spending the time dead. Meanwhile, when used for sieges, for most of those 7 seconds, you're attacking the turret, thus providing more DPS onto the turret than you would have without the bonus. So yes, I think Bard's heal could use some buffs, but **it's not as bad as everyone's making it out to be.** Hopefully this sheds some light and generates discussion.
: Mostly how his kit is supposed to work with mega gnar. I get how you're supposed to build up rage, but do you only all in with Mega Gnar after you've poked with mini-gnar, and how good of an idea is it to all in with mini gnar using the e and q? Is mini Gnar's kit supposed to be centered around attack speed (for the w proc), while mega gnar is just about sustain? I've played a lot of bursty mages/assassins in the past, and I'm getting the impression that Gnar's kit isn't supposed to work like that, so it could just be a learning curve, but any tips would help.

I get how you're supposed to build up rage, but do you only all in with Mega Gnar after you've poked with mini-gnar, and how good of an idea is it to all in with mini gnar using the e and q? It's best to try and manage your rage the coordinate with jungle ganks when you want to all in. Definitely poke them out with your Mini Gnar Q, and focus on using your E more for positioning yourself when you're in a sticky spot. Make sure you're aware of your surroundings when using Hop as well - if you're getting ganked and you have minions in your escape route, bounce off them for the extra range. You should only use it to go in after a fight when you need the gap closing to finish off a kill. Outside of jungle ganks, only go all in when you can be sure their jungler won't show up, when the enemy laner is low enough, and when you have your ultimate up. I once escaped a failed all in when the enemy jungler showed up because I had my ult up and used it to stun both of the enemies. >Is mini Gnar's kit supposed to be centered around attack speed (for the w proc), while mega gnar is just about sustain? Mini Gnar is much more about poking the enemy with your Q and using your W and E to either pursue/evade enemies. A little known fact about Gnar's passive is that his passive gives him more bonus stats besides attack range. Mini Gnar has more movement speed and attack speed, while Mega Gnar has more health, armor, magic resistance and attack damage. The difference in stats is significant enough to make all in-ing as Mini Gnar in lane a risky move. So with Mini Gnar, it's best to play like a mage/adc and hang out in the back lines. Until you go Mega. When that rage bar fills up, you should be ready to hop into the fight and use your new bonuses to wreck the enemies. Mega Gnar isn't about sustain at all - he's about a thing called "windows of power." A "window of power" is an opportunity where a character has a significant increase in power, but only for a short time. Mega Gnar is a big window where you can drop lots of mutli-target crowd control and area of effect damage onto enemies, all while soaking up damage himself. Using the 15 seconds of Mega Gnar wisely can make or break the game. He's also got another window of power, this one not as big or well known: as soon as he reverts to Mini Gnar, he gains a movement speed burst equal to the same amount his Mini W would give. That can be used after big fights to chase down that last kill or get out safely, if needed. > I've played a lot of bursty mages/assassins in the past, and I'm getting the impression that Gnar's kit isn't supposed to work like that, so it could just be a learning curve, but any tips would help. Assuming this is your first fighter/tank experience, you've still got a lot to learn about being a tanky front liner who doesn't always deal damage. But Gnar is a good starting point because he can transition between a back line damage dealer and front line tank throughout the game. Although, I'd recommend staying on the front lines because his range is not the longest, plus he needs to land a good Hop/Crunch in order to get into the enemy back lines. I'll be here to answer any further questions you have :)
: Anyone know of a good Gnar guide?

: This is a great question! I would say that it's a good idea to diversify, as we may have you write up one of the pitches as a future exercise. Plus, we're looking for depth and originality in your pitches. If it's something you've already done, that makes it less appealing (to me personally), as someone has already validated whether or not the pitch is worth doing.
What about pitches that are common themes among all regions, ie "How well will this new team from challenger do?" and the like?

: Idea for a weekly boards post - Tell us what you think!
I think it would be better if there was a bit more structure to it, like... * Labeling the source in front of the title Just something simple, like [REDDIT] or [BOARDS] at the beginning of the title, with a hyperlink to the actual page. It's less confusing than having it in the text. * Organizing content by category Categories can be things like: Riot Announcements, Articles, Community Content, etc. Obviously, there can be more/less depending on the demand. * Table of contents Have a small table of contents at the beginning as a little bit of a preview of the week's post. If possible, make it so that clicking on one of the contents in the table brings it down to the story below. These are just some suggestions I have for the organization, other than that I think it's fine :) EDIT: I posted this before seeing Arma and Daen's similar suggestions. Whoops :P

Nice to come back after a while and see you're still being awesome. Now, might I suggest some additions to this? Since you talk about runes, masteries are also a good thing to talk about, especially since they seem to be a bit more confusing than runes. (You should probably send it to Piglet after it's done :P) Also, when you talk about pushing, you might want a little section on freezing a lane, since it's effectively a way to stop the enemy from pushing. It could also be classified under last hitting too.

: What's your League of Legends Origin Story?
The first time I'd heard of League was when I was in a group that made Minecraft videos and the like. A lot of the people there played it, but I had no idea what it was so I didn't care about it. Up until about 2 years ago, when my friend in real life showed it to me. I was utterly confused at first. For my first game he let me play Nasus on his account, and whenever he told me to use Siphoning Strike on a minion I had no idea why. I think one of the main reasons I stuck with League at the beginning was because my friend who showed it to me, who I only saw when I traveled halfway across the country when I visited my mom, used it to stay connected along with the other couple of games we played. Plus, another one of our friends had recently moved to England because his dad got a job opportunity across the pond. Basically, League has been my way of staying connected to friends that I don't get to see too much. Nowadays, I play it with my girlfriend and am working on climbing the ranked ladder the achieve my dream of going pro in League.
