: The new client is getting worse + fps issues
Which GPU do you have? If you have an Nvidia gpu have you tried adding the client to the 3d settings page and setting it to use dedicated gpu instead of integrated? There should be an AMD method of doing this as well. For some reason current client decides to use integrated gpu by default and since it is more demanding than legacy client, it tends to lag. Setting it to use your dedicated gpu should massively improve client performance. Also uncheck the "Close client during game" option in client settings so that you can get to end game screen instantly.

: Alpha Client ( little things that should be addressed)
loud champ audio bug has been addressed in today's 6.23 LCU patch!
VvVVvV (NA)
: Of Course There Was LoL, I Expected Nothing Less
Upvoted for visibility. I also have been getting this with the 6.23 patch, seems like an error after prompting for admin privileges to update desktop icons. Mine were already changed since 6.22, so maybe just an error
: Yeah, I noticed this patch had a little better optimization. Still heavy on the CPU, but it's going the right way! :)
Yup! and memory usage also seemed to have dropped a bit too! Cant wait for those juicy animations
: The new Alpha client is WAY too heavy on low end PCs.
Rioters have said that they will continue to do performance passes every patch for the next few weeks. Personally the client feels smoother this patch compared to last one. Everything seems to have been optimized by 20% more. Still slow and heavy on cpu occasionally of course, but it is getting better.
: Why can't we close the social tab on the Alpha Client?
It's by design sadly. For now we are going to have to live with it, personally don't mind it. Curious, what particular situation do you feel the removed space could be taken advantage of? It's already hidden for champ select.
: Bump - any suggestions appreciated.
It's natural, I run league at 200fps+ on ultra yet Alpha client lags occasionally on draft pick. The alpha by design was designed for higher end pc's to test and some lower end ones for quality testing and future reference, but never was it meant for regular users to use on a daily basis. It it not at all optimized. Open beta(which starts very soon) is when optimization for low end pcs will start. No worries eventually the client will run even better than the current one and even take less memory :)
: Missing personal sale shop?
Hasn't been implemented yet.
: Thank You, Alpha Testers! Sign-Ups Now Closed
Thanks Riot for having the Alpha in the first place! It was really worth the experience and we all loved the ride! Spending hours on end meticulously finding bugs, can't wait to see what's ahead on open beta!
: like Galacius stated this is an alpha client and hasn't been optimized for lower end computers. It is highly likely that the current alpha code is heavily commented and only semi-compiled to make it easier for the dev team to make quick changes. After the new client goes into beta most of the comments will be removed, the files packed into one executable/process which will only load the parts that are needed into ram, and finally optimized for lower end computers with alternate low-end textures and backgrounds. The multiple processes could also be a way to help the program self-diagnose/recover in the event of a crash before it asks the user to send a bug/crash report, Google chrome does something similar for the same reasons.
This. Took my words from my mouth haha. Alpha focuses on stability > performance hence the multiple process for the exact reasons above aka easier to debug problems

: Disable Animation not working?
Currently Animations are not implemented, the ones you reference are simply the basic backend ones. The animations the "Disable client animations" option refers to are those like [this](https://lolstatic-a.akamaihd.net/frontpage/apps/prod/preseason-2017/en_US/28fe1f86bf89538e005b90a6e22fa35adb9e5ee6/assets/img/client/possition-assignment.mp4), [this](https://news-a.akamaihd.net/public/images/articles/LCU/2016/april/r2pl/video/BlindPick_Animatic.webm), and [this](https://news-a.akamaihd.net/public/images/articles/LCU/2016/may/uxv/video/HA_ReadyCheck.webm). certainly much more fancier than whats available on the client rn. Stability>Prettiness for the alpha. Open beta in a few weeks is when we can expect more eye candy
: There is already an icon on PBE that looks like it's a reward for exactly that; https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_ucs820zJPA/WAZ9vIy-jgI/AAAAAAAAWMw/EnwKifNe9yEfAqs6dC-Gm568nBwqwQTfQCLcB/s1600/profileIcon1394.jpg
Just saw it as well. Me like
: Yeah, like an exclusive icon and a chest if you reported a bug or something like that.
exclusive icon i think is ok and i think the icon on the pbe of heimerdingers wrench is that exactly. but chest for every bug would be overkill haha I've reported at least 5 bugs every week since start of alpha. would have sooo many chests which would be unfair. Maybe a singular special chest for bug reporters.
: i dont know about all of you but i found the whole client very un-aesthetically pleasing. There was a lot of just open space that wasn't being occupied and made everything seemed like it was floating and almost like what you would see in a highschool webdesign page. Not to be harsh but the old one was much better in almost every way when it came to the overall look. However there was one thing i greatly liked better was the slash art backsplashes in champ select. Those were awesome but the main hud and tryign to navigate through it were much to be left desired. The client seems very clunky and unorganized when it comes to the mode select and it feels like youre trying to cram everything into the page. The emptiness that is seen throughout the client is very distracting ( to me at least) and the boarders for the new season being circular and much smaller almost makes them worthless and not as important as theyre not a huge part of your profile page. Its just a circle around the icon youre using and makes the boarder you got very insignificant compared to previous years. I never personally had many issues with the client from the tech aspect except it would freeze when i tried to load up the twisted treeline but it only happend like 4 times outta the times i used it. Basically for me i just expected a little bit more when it came to how flashy, "nerdy", and fantastical the client couldve been. I remember first booting up the game back when lissandra first came into the game and it was this cool music and she was talking to you as if you were going into another world saying like " its time for you to rise up my frost guard" or somethign and i was like hey thats pretty cool.
hows [that](http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/preseason-2017/client) for aesthetically pleasing? They have more in store for us dw. Current development is basic functionality not looks. With open beta coming soon they'll look into UI layouts, design, animation to make it better.
: OR WOULD WE HUEHUEHUEHUE
Plz Cactopus, the tease is just too much
: I'm also wondering if they're going to give the alpha testers some sort of benefit. I think it would be really cool if RIOT did.
Like an exclusive icon? That would be cool plz Riot :)
: Road to Pre-Season: Practice Tool in the Works
Any consideration of an offline local Practice mode for those times where the servers are down or no internet?
: So, you guys have added the function for changing the size of the LCU, but i was wondering if there will be a full screen option because this new client, i think, could look amazing at full screen.
Agreed. A fullscreen option would be really nice, especially since due to the resize option 1080p resize is now possible, making it a default option would be simple. Currently making it 1080p to manually make it full screen resets after client restart :(
: Yo, hit me with any questions y'all have about the client update! Open beta is coming soon—we hope to announce a specific date closer to preseason.
Will the "mini chat client/chat when client is closed" feature be released with open beta? And will Open beta be released when preseason arrives? or slightly after it starts?

Current alpha is running in "low performance" graphics mode as it is unoptimized. Have you seen the videos of what the launched client is supposed to look like? superbb animations in that video where are those videos? On the official youtube page?
Riot posts new videos and pictures every 2 weeks regarding the alpha development progress [here](http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/client-update/news) so be sure to check it every once in awhile! The one I was referencing was the 3rd video down the page [here](http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/client-update/article/2e479430-d2b9-47cf-80e8-c3b3f54c750a) Do you see how the howling abyss logo during ready check was moving? and the wind was blowing across? and how the ready check "shook" the client(and how badass the animation looked)? and how enting champion select "zooms" you onto the rift? The animations were amazing. That's what they have in store for the higher spec pc users. My understanding is that there will be two graphics settings for the alpha client. The current one/ low performance and the ones in the videos/devblogs aka high performance. Unfortunately the current alpha is super un optimized rn(draft pick especially) so they disabled all fancy shmancy animations until they optimize it(focused on bugs and reliability not aesthetic just yet).

clearly they will upgrade all assets by the time it is released, but for alpha they just used old assets and made it minimalistic.

: Now Testing: Loot and Clubs
Clubs still not enabled? Anyone else confirm?
: when is ranked going live ? I saw it in patch notes but where did it go?
Ranked is NOT going live this patch unfortunately. Internal servers are turned on but have been disabled for this patch in order to smooth out some bugs regarding ranked queues
Sangy (EUW)
: Ty for letting me know. You da real mvp
: Will Alpha have a centralized location for all the in-depth champ lore and stories that have come out so far?
Was originally planned to be in the champion abilities page next to skins, but has since been removed supposedly to work on exactly as you stated above, centralized lore pages.
: The Hextech Chest looks alot better then the one on live servers (clear and contrast, good for low fps pc?)
For sure, hextech is the most optimized rn in terms of animations on the alpha client imo. draft and blind pick still lag but hextech is smooth as butter
Sangy (EUW)
: Is hextech crefting and clubs already enabled or not???
Now active, though clubs have yet to be enabled server side but the tab is there
: I noticed in the video there was no RP/IP/Urgent Notifications where the Loot/Store now sit idle. Do we have to go to the store to see that now? Or will it still be visible on the regular bar?
Good catch! didn't notice that. My guess is that they are either going to put ip/rp in between where that empty space is or revert to the way it is currently on .09 . The new way looks like they are trying to separate the store/loot from the rest of the tabs like in the legacy client. Separates game functions from the other stuff if you will. Not sure if this is intentional. Another weird thing is the little golden border around the client and the arrow on top of "loot" and how it blends into the border. New tab indicators and borders maybe? Edit: seems like they reverted to the original layout tabs on left, and ip/rp on the right. Probably an look at an early UI concept and not the intended released result. Or a tease at new UI changes
: Is it just me or is the hextech opening at the moment better?

: wait so you mean this wednesday it comes out to public?
well if u are signed up for the alpha, yes. open beta is coming real soon
: Now Testing: Loot and Clubs
Performance improvements whoop whoop! FInally! (dancing in place rn)
: So this is coming out tomorrow, correct?
Yup, alpha patches always ship with the live patch
kinkan (NA)
: Please Riot give us a skins tab like that we can see all the skins we have.
Confirmed to be addressed by Riot. probably will be added during open beta. This is a highly requested feature
: Not letting me resize the alpha client Im hitting the keys you told me to
New patch has not been released yet. Will ship with 6.18 alpha patch tomorrow
midorii (NA)
: In the sample images, Bard is shown as being the first player to leave the post-game lobby chat....yet bard was also the second ban of the winning team. What do?
COUTS (EUW)
: I'd like to leave a reply here as a suggestion for a future "feature". It's not really special, it's already in the OG client but it kinda went missing. Please, let me mute the client music but leave sound FX on. I don't want to listen to the client soundtrack, but I need to hear the game found notification sound.
Confirmed to be added soon by Rioters, probably will be seen next patch. There will be sliders like the legacy client. Look forward to it!
: Prepare to Test: Loot, Clubs, and Ranked
Anyone else see the "Dynamic" drop box in the ranked tab picture? Solo-Dynamic queue confirmed for 2017? Or am I missing something else that would go there?
: Maybe call is "Pick Phase" instead of "Picking Phase", since it said "Ban Phase" instead of "Banning Phase", my 2 cents
Makes sense actually. Makes it more consistent and clear. Hopefully Riot sees this.
Smazing (NA)
: Hmmm.. My alpha client isnt updating. Did i upset someone? {{champion:32}}
Draft pick isn't on the alpha yet. This is simply a preview of upcoming patches. They said to expect draft pick to come in about 3 weeks (around when ever 6.16 comes)
: Crafting the Client: Draft and Ranked
So the way current draft pick looks is that the lobby transitions pretty fluid to the draft pick via the "banners flying to the rift" animation. Any plans on doing a similar animation with draft/blind pick in the future? There can never be enough eye candy ;)
: I can't believe I missed the that in the dev blog, thanks for pointing it out!
: I have a couple questions about Draft Mode and how it's shown in the vid: - ~~Champs have ban quotes when they're banned (FINALLY :D) regardless of who banned them, but the champion select quotes still only play for the champion that you select specifically. I know that the changed has been mentioned even with Dynamic Queue in the old client, but what are thoughts on having all selected champs' quotes play?~~ Looks like you guys already answered this one, hopefully the bug keeping the quotes out gets squashed by shipping time! - ~~As far as selecting Draft Mode, where will it fit on the current "Change Map" screen? The way the screen is laid out now you only choose between different maps despite the Rift having two "normal" modes, how will those be differentiated in the Map Select menu?~~ Thanks to DragonTech97 for answering this one! As always, you're doing kickass work here and I can't wait for these changes to ship to live!
If I remember correctly, from what Riot has shown us of the client, under Summoners Rift (in map selection) there should be two selections to choose from Blind and Draft. That way map selection is the same now but they simply add selection two buttons under SR to differentiate the modes Edit: check out [this](http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/client-update/article/b5f0b362-3b7e-4570-bfb2-db4f2556198d) Alpha Devblog and scroll down. the video shows what I'm talking about. Hope this answers your question!
: Crafting the Client: Draft and Ranked
Any word on adding banner animations for the lobby in upcoming patches? We need them :)
