He is being kinda annoying but that is it. I know plenty of people and I can give out all the names that do that kind of thing and don`t get punished because it happens just now and then. Yes, this not the account's first penalty and is basically their 3rd offense going through the normal escalation system, as described here: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/207489286-Instant-Feedback-System-FAQ- The system escalates the penalty in hopes that the player will understand a stronger signal (suspension) and change their approach, because the weaker signal (chat restriction) hasn't worked for them to encourage sufficient improvement based on the community and system's eyes (as they're still offending players and getting reports deemed valid). Certainly there are more extreme phrases and language that players may be used that that could accelerate the process and jump a few steps to an immediate ban for instance, things along the lines of hate speech or death threats, but that's not the path this case took. While the language in this particular chat log wouldn't have incurred an immediate ban, there are elements of negativity and harassment which could hurt other players and could be penalty-worthy offenses, especially if we're considering the implications of phrases. For example, calling for reports. Let's dive into that a bit. Despite the word phrasing sounding benign on the surface ("report" isn't a bad word on its own) when someone calls for another player to be reported, there's a few implications under the hood, which really result in an attack on the player: 1. they're publicly expressing frustration towards another player 2. they're associating the target player with someone who exemplifies behaviors that would be valid to report for 3. they're asking for something negative to happen to the target player, like a chat restriction, ban, or worse. 4. and if they're doing it in All chat especially, they're also asking everyone else in the game to join in and gang up to hurt this player, context or no context, and maybe even seeking validation from others on the negative feelings they have towards the target player ...and the target player on the receiving end of this probably feels all these things in some shape or form. Unless you're friends, in a premade, or just happen to click with someone's personality, you'll risk the target player taking it negatively and feel attacked, hurt, and maybe even frustrated enough to submit a report at the end of game. BONUS: For those who are looking to learn and aren't sure how to assess how others may interpret what they're saying, here's my personal high level take, which is basically 3 questions I ask myself: (examples included for fun) 1. Do i have good intentions behind my statements? (e.g., am i saying something because I'm angry and want to vent, or is there something genuine to be discussed here or something that needs to be clarified?) 2. Is what I'm saying/doing good for me? (e.g., is the thing I'm about to say going to help me win my lane, take objectives, or lead to victory?) 3. Is what i'm saying/doing good for others? (e.g., is telling someone that they're bad or did something poorly a few minutes ago actually going to help them right now? is it going to teach them something, or help them perform better in game, or increase the team's odds of making better decisions and winning? is it going to make people laugh or have a more enjoyable time? Is it going to have negative consequences for others, make them feel worse, or perform worse? are my positive intentions getting blocked by my choice of words and coming across the wrong way?) ...If I'm not getting a clear 'Yes' on all 3 questions, there's usually something I can improve, and an increased chance I'm going to come off offensive or unsportsmanlike in some way. Basically it comes down to this: 1. Please don't call for reports. Just don't do it. 2. Consider the implications of the things being said, because at the end of the day, people will remember the way you made them feel, but not necessarily the specific words you've used. 3. Think about and be honest with the consequences of your words. If words didn't have power, we wouldn't be using them. {{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}}

Hi DIM RACK, We take false positives very seriously and don't want players unfairly penalized so I took a deeper look here. The first thing I noticed is that the logs posted here have been modified and aren't the complete logs provided in your reform card. If you'd like, I can post them here. However, based on the missing lines from the actual chat logs, I believe you know why this account received a penalty.

: Yeah, that's why I made this discussion to see if any Rioters or well-informed people could tell me. But if I'm being fair, (maybe Riot didn't intend this) the people that did really well with the old honor system receive no benefit so maybe those that did below average with the old honor system will receive a clean slate as well. That does contradict itself though because that would mean chat-restrictions and temporary bans would be lifted if this is a clean slate idea.
People will still need to ride out any existing punishments, but from a honor rewards eligibility perspective you'll have a fresh start. {{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}}
: I mean, I realise you guys are the ones who would know if you'd looked into it and discovered the bug, I was just surprised it was something looked into and discovered at this stage. I would've figured that at the point it went live it was believed to be hopefully bug free as far as you guys knew, and then we'd only discover that bug once players started getting level 3 and it wasn't showing up, instead of being discovered in a matter of days (or less if you knew before it even went live). Guess y'all are just really on the ball with post launch review and/or discovered it before it went live, and just figured it wasn't important enough to warrant delaying the launch (which I agree with).

Good question.... there's both. {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-rainbows}} Capsules are meant to be more engaging than their straight up key frag counterparts, so they usually come sprinkled with some sort of bonus. We'll be monitoring how this plays out over time and they'll be subject to tuning and adjustments, so this may change over time.

: Hello there. So Riot confirmed that this is actually a bug. They will make it so that if you are lvl 3+ it will appear in your profile for everyone to see. I am not sure if they will leave it this way for lvl2- or they will just remove it and it will look like the old one. P.S. 0 rp? How?
That's interesting. Mind sharing the source of that?
: Honoring premades has 'literally no benefit.'
Hey Johnny Mak, that question and answer was more geared toward increasing one's honor level. Honoring your premade buddies still has the following benefits: - it may make them feel good {{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}} - two or more premade honors can grant someone loading screen flair, if they're honor level 3 or above - if everyone on your team votes, everyone gets a small boost towards the next honor level Honor doesn't degrade, and works consistently regardless of frequency at this point. I wouldn't recommend throwing honor to randoms whom you don't feel did anything to make the game fun or positive, since it might send the wrong message. On the other hand, if you're playing in premades, the more the better. We didn't want to discourage anyone from playing with their friends, so please don't be. {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-thumbs}}
: Do afk bans count towards honor?
Leaving and AFK'ing in game will prevent honor level and honor reward progression in those games. So in your case you may not always be getting credit depending on the severity of your outages. If you're interested, you might want to look into an uninterruptible power supply to hook up to your gaming rig, router, and internet modem, so you can stay online during those outages. I also tend to lose power in the summer at my apartment complex, and a beefy UPS has helped a ton.
La Bello (NA)
: @Riot How come people get different amounts of Key Fragments?
Can't go into the details, but there is a bit of randomness to it, and the overall number of key frags you can earn hasn't changed since the last system. Generally, the more games you play, the more keys you'll earn, up to a limit. Reports alone won't impact your drops, unless they're validated by our systems and escalate into chat restrictions or worse.
: I think if you get Honored And get More than A-, Then you will be able to get key fragments, idk. It should be something like that.
Both mastery scores and whether you get honored have zero impact on whether you'll get key fragments. It's a long term system so we didn't want anyone to sweat the details so we've tried to make it as simple as possible: Play games, avoid penalties like chat restrictions or suspensions, and you'll get stuff. That's it. {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-thumbs}}

: >Keys no longer drop at end-of-game, but periodically while outside of queue. Sooo...we can randomly get fragments while sitting on the home screen?
To clarify, if that's the only thing you're doing, then no. That was more of a note about the drop location, not the mechanics of how to earn them. Gaming activity is still a factor, among other things: > ◦◦◦ Everyone who’s level 2 (starting level) or above gets all their free key fragments by just playing games without getting hit with penalties
Zok72 (NA)
: What does that do for those of us who mostly play in large groups though. Sure we can honor each other in a circle but it will be hard to consistently show "honorable play" if I play as a 4 or 5 man and my teammates votes are consistently devalued. Also, on a different note, do you believe any of this will improve the experience with toxic players? I'm all for rewarding good behavior but at the end of a good game I want to play the next one and at the end of a bad game I usually am just praying my report matters this time. In my experience toxic players ruin games far more than honorable ones improve them.
You and your friends should be fine :) At this time the baseline for showing "honorable play" is to avoid earning penalties by the [Instant Feedback System](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/207489286-Instant-Feedback-System-FAQ-). So you won't be left behind for merely playing with your friends more often, nor for being less extroverted or communicative than someone else. We're definitely aware of potential premade interactions with the system, so one of the key balances we're trying to strike is to prevent abuse without discouraging play with friends. Like Simurgh mentioned, this part happens behind the scenes, but we'll be monitoring it to ensure things balance out fairly in the long run.
: Wait, does that mean we won't be able to listen to Lissandra's monologue on the Howling Abyss anymore D: !?
Yea... we have some ideas on what to do about this easter egg, but nothing set in stone yet.
: That still leaves 4 people that deserve honor and only 1 vote. I have to make these decisions on an 8-second timer as well. I've already failed.
To clarify, its just the game client that closes automatically, so you can no longer hang around at the victory/defeat screen forever. However you'll have much more time to actually do your voting which occurs in the league client update.

What I'm trying to do **is bring clarity to their position of muting pings versus their position of punishing players for ignoring the team completely**. Before, you could do /mute all and it's completely acceptable, because Riot said "you have the ability to communicate via 'smart pings'". Now they're removing the ability to have smart pings _as well_. I want to make sure Riot is held accountable to themselves to not punish players anymore for _any_ "communication failures" _whatsoever_ once they introduce this functionality. Generally speaking, I'd hope and expect that: A) a desire to win the match, and B) a realization that communication and teamwork are a tool in your arsenal that'll increase your odds of winning would both motivate people not to blanket remove all their channels of communication. As a thought exercise, suppose a player does have good and/or personal reasons for muting all chats and all pings in some or all of their matches. Would this still be a problem? And if so, how would you go about addressing it while respecting a player's personal choice to do so?

Pings by ping muted players will not be visible, audible, nor messaged in chat. From your perspective, it will be as if those pings never happened. It's a feature that's meant to be used selectively in cases where you feel like someone's pings aren't valuable to you, as opposed to pre-emptively against your entire team.
