Battlecast Cho'Gath was an earlier legendary, and it didn't take as many resources to put together as the legendary skins of today. The same goes for Dunkmaster Darius, although he was one of the first examples of what we could call a true modern legendary, but his overall package might still be considered disappointing by today's standards, standards which are especially held by skins *like* the God-King skins. Not only do those skins give the entire legendary package, but they even have new models created for the two God-Kings' respective familiars. And they were also two legendaries released *at the same time*, so the skin team has to work double time when a real Versus event comes around. Then, there's the fact that these days, legendary skins are the prime examples of the skin universes they come from, which have whole storylines of their own, and legendary skins are the most representative of that universe's version of the champion, so, unless it's justified like in the ultimate ones, skins like God-King Garen and Darius are showing the definitive incarnations of Garen and Darius in the Versus universe.
: both god king skins would have been very good candidates for chromas
Legendaries never get chromas; it's enough work to give the skins new models, animations, voicelines, and usually effects that are even more different than epic skins. : Any plans on fixing Arcade Caitlyn’s splashart?
I think Rioters have said on Twitter or somewhere that the skin is being worked on for a fix. It'll probably be changed at the release date, at least, if not before.

Yeah exactly, that's why I'm thinking their size is relative. Even the Dark Stars, though their goal is to consume and grow, they can probably at least manifest other sized versions of themselves outside of their black hole.

: Why do all sivir skins look like a toddler designed them?
Sivir was one of the first champions in League of Legends, so she has a lot of old, cheaper skins with pretty poor splash arts by today's standards. Since she got a visual update, they're not so bad in-game, but I have seen many people clamoring for her to get a splash art update like Miss Fortune got last year. All of her pre-2013 skins desperately need it.
: Confused about the size of the Event Horizon entities.
I'm thinking that, since they're all basically godlike figures, they can probably change their sizes at will, and their maximum size probably encompasses a solar system. That explains why Yi's bigger than a planet in his splash but much smaller in Ashe's splash art.

Hell even Xer and Udyr would make good Battle Bosses Kalista's a bit of a weird case because it's not as if she's unpopular, but in the first year or so after she was released, she was super powerful in pro play which caused her to get two consecutive esports skins. Then she was nerfed to the ground, which wasn't helped by the fact that most casual players have a very hard time learning her kit, and the rest is history. She simply got a bad hand; hopefully she can get some love soon enough. She'd fit a Project skin pretty well, which is getting an event this year.

If they're having arguments, it should be more poetic and conceptual, and they should still be working together for a common cause. I'm still thinking that it's a Blessed Isles champion; the intersecting circles with the squares are closer to them than to Ixtal. But Ixtal influenced the Blessed Isles architecture, so the resemblance is no coincidence.
: Demacia: Jarvan III is the king and is the leader, because it's a feudal system his power is vested in the power of the royal houses that act as his vassals like the Crownguards: Garen and Luxs family or Fioras' family the Laurents. Jarvan IV is only the prince atm and is next in line to take the throne after his father dies. Noxus Trifarix: Swain, Darius and The Masked Lady (prolly LeBlanc) hold equal power after Swain deposed Boram Darkwill, prior Emperor of Noxus, he reformed the government so that one person couldn't have too much power. Freljord: No official "leader", as most of the the Freljord is tundra and wildlands but the biggest tribes are the Avarosans with Ashe as their leader, Sejuani as the leader of the Winters' Claw and Lissandra leading the Frostborn all in conflict to be the dominant tribe. Shurima: Azir only controls the area around the Sun Disc and the newly arisen capital of Shurima, The northern shore of Shurima is voluntarily assimiliated under the Noxus banner, everyone else in Shurima is either an independant city-state who hasn't allied either way or a nomadic tribe. Xerath is starting an empire of his own in Nerizameth Ionia, Split into several regional provinces, each with their own governors. The closest thing Ionia has to a leader in Champion terms is Karma as she is their spiritual leader. People who still resist Noxus look to Irelia as a martial leader. Shen and the Kinkou probably hold some sway when they care to intervene in mortal affairs and Zed controls his Shadow Assassins and whatever lands they hold. Bilgewater: After ousting Gangplank, Miss Fortune holds a tenous grasp on most of the gangs in Bilgewater. Shadow Isles: Mordekaiser is no longer a Shadow Isles champ in any capacity. His new lore never places him there now he is a Noxus champion. Every spirit that is in the Black Mist is a slave to the mist itself, although there is a pecking order where the stronger spirits like Thresh, Hecarim and Karthus toment the weaker ones. Ixatl: Qiyanas' parents rule over Ixaocan, which is the cardinal arcology in Ixatl. Piltover: The merchant clans and the largest families hold most of the influence here. Meaning Ferros (Camilles' family), Medarda and Giopara are probably the biggest ones Zaun: The chem-barons and their gangs control all of Zaun and have chopped it up neatly between them. Urgot is a leader of his anarchism movement (If such a movement can have a leader.) Mount Targon: The Solari, Leonas' tribe holds the most power and forces their dominant religion on the rest, the Rakkor are technically the bigger and more powerful tribe, but they have assimilated their traditions and the Solari religion and take orders from Solari priests. The Lunari are a smaller sect who are persecuted by the Solari for worshipping the moon and mostly stay in hiding. Void: The Watchers

That continent proximity would make a lot of sense, especially if it houses the kingdom where Kalista, Hecarim, and the Ruined King come from.
: Zilean Skin Speculation Thread
A Death Sworn type skin for Zilean could be cool for Harrowing, or something more goofy and Halloween-y (say, if him and Ryze got a wizard counterpart to the Bewitching skins). I'm also surprised that Zilean doesn't have a Rift Quest skin yet. He would fit the corny, lighthearted RPG-style fantasy of that skinline so well. When I first started League and saw the four-person Rift Quest splash, I thought that the white-bearded wizard was a Zilean skin before I saw the book and Ryze's skins and corrected myself. Regardless, a Rift Quest Zilean skin. Please and thank you. He could also get Pool Party...maybe...which would be...pretty weird...maybe if Camille joins him as "old school beach charmers" or something.

: Who do you want to see featured on PROJECT and Star Guardian Skins for this year?
No idea for Project, but I wouldn't be surprised if Talon gets it. Or maybe Shen. My biggest hopes are on Kalista, who would fit the grim skinline pretty well and already covers themes about fighting to keep her humanity in the main lore. And she needs a new skin so badly; it's too bad that her esports nerfs have gutted her popularity. For Star Guardian, it's always a full team, and hopefully this time it can actually be a team that works, unlike Team 2. So I'm thinking: Top - Riven Jungle - Quinn Mid - Taliyah ADC - Xayah Support - Rakan I originally wanted Tristana and Sona to be the Star Guardian bot lane duo for this year, but once I saw she was getting the skin vote I was pretty sure that this would be Xayah and Rakan's time for Star Guardian skins. Star Guardian Ahri even has a quote to Xayah already. Not to mention that *all* of Xayah and Rakan's skins are legacy besides their release ones, so it would be unsurprising if such popular champs got Star Guardian for their first post-release non-legacy skins. But, perhaps, as an additional sixth skin, if Riot's willing to risk it: First Star Aurelion Sol. **Do it already Riot**.
: I mean, I get the idea. They treat mages poorly because they are afraid of them, and the reason they are forcing {{champion:99}} to marry is not as much for being a woman, as much as for being a mage who they want to protect and keep on secret. That's the problem I had with a Demacia-based comic being shown from Lux's point of view. For one, it's very safe and I still have my fears that it won't end up progressing the lore in any way, for two, it's just hammering home the same "Demacia hates mages" point that we've been seeing pretty much exclusively since Galio's rework, and for three, we're pretty sure that the Demacia-focused novella will be focused on the rebellion and likely the death of King Jarvan III. To note: this is why people found Xin Zhao's lore such a breath of fresh air; it did showcase the bad sides of Noxus and the good sides of Demacia that we hadn't seen in a while, and it also shows that Xin Zhao isn't instantly hated by all Demacians for being an Ionian, a person literally from the land chock-full of wild magic. And if the mage-hating storyline does come around to him, perhaps concerning the martial arts abilities he kept from Ionia, it's still not the big point of his story. That's another reason many are frustrated that Sona hasn't gotten any new lore, since, as another Ionian living in Demacia who is much more blatantly magic than Xin Zhao, she could offer another fresh perspective on the country that isn't just the same "subversive" point being hammered home again.

She doesn't have a crush on him. Why do people keep thinking that? The parallels with Garen in this issue show more clearly than ever that she has only ever thought of Sylas as a big brother replacement, since he's helping her to protect her from her own power where her brother couldn't, and Garen himself instead wants to try to "protect" her in a way that will only worsen her life. Overall, I think this was a pretty good issue. Liked the mentions of Shyvana (which probably solidifies Jarvana in canon) and Morgana in there. Karma wasn't very risky, and I say she's a more attractive pick for the skin line than Orianna. Shaco I mentioned as included in the risky champions that I'm at least glad we're getting a skin for. It is true that Karma's not as much of a moneymaker as a lot of champs since she's so modest. I'd actually say Kai'Sa looks more Shuriman in this splash than she has since her original skin, even in-game. It's true that she gets that a lot; Sivir gets similar treatment. Not sure why.

: I've been wondering lately if Riot's choices of champions who get skins frequently (i.e., "safe" champions for skin sales) is a result of their waning sales over the last couple of years OR is it instead their choices of champions for these skins causing their overall sales to go down (or both). I can't prove it, but it feels as though there was more skin diversity 2-3 seasons ago compared to now. If so, then maybe playing it safe isn't the answer after all...{{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}} > [{quoted}](name=Galactic Mayhem,realm=EUW,application-id=6kFXY1kR,discussion-id=Jrw40wa8,comment-id=000100000000,timestamp=2019-06-12T10:24:05.299+0000) > > She was tacked on after the original line up was done, riot confirmed this Was she? I'm actually a bit surprised, since she seems to be an obvious reference to the mouse principal from My Hero Academia (like pretty much everything else about that skinline). I thought she'd have been given a little more consideration in development.

Not only are they milking every cent out of her, they're not even trying to make her look right anymore I'd say that all the other skins are probably being given more attention than the Kai'Sa one, especially Caitlyn's, so I'm not all that surprised. Plus she does have three other well-acclaimed skins, so it's not as if she's lacking.
: In my eyes Qiyana is a character you _should_ love to hate. I find it strange that so many people hate her character but love Draven despite being extremely similar. Also, Qiyana having this super toxic personality makes it all the more satisfying when you kill her (it's like "HA in your face you arrogant bitch!)

Also, Qiyana having this super toxic personality makes it all the more satisfying when you kill her (it's like "HA in your face you arrogant bitch!) I think some were deceived by her teaser, but I think people will come around eventually. Thing is about Draven is that he was introduced as a meme and still is one to this day, even in-universe somewhat. He was also introduced at the time when the actual League of Legends was still a thing (though he and Darius were the first champions to not get a League judgement), so the lore was taken much less seriously back then. Plus, new champions didn't actually get as much individual attention as they do today, since they were released so frequently back when he and Darius came out.
: I was disappointed as soon as I saw Taliyah wasn't in the line up. Here's to hoping she'll be in Star Guardian this year. And yeah, I kinda agree. Ezreal and Lux for Battle Academia turned me off first, but now it's Yasuo, Kai'Sa and Caitlyn for Arcade. And they do fit the Arcade theme pretty well, but at the same time they're all popular and safe picks. So I can't help but feel slightly frustrated.

I would actually be more disappointed if Taliyah were in the lineup because I really think she would fit Star Guardian so well, especially since she's pretty much the only canonical teenage girl in lore (at the moment, and I suppose Neeko is biologically in her early teens). And yeah, I feel exactly the same. I'm not opposed to the ideas, but they're just very disconcertingly risk-free.

We only have two parent-child relationships concerning champions within the game (at least, that are confirmed), and one is several times removed over several millennia. Qiyana seems like a good candidate for someone who needs a proper talking-to from her mom or dad.

: I know no champions are normal, that is why I was pointing out his fighting experience and his weapon after all. However, Graves doesn't seem to have any magical powers or outstanding traits that make him inhumanly powerful. He seems the type of person who trained hard and accumulated experience to become what we see today. And about TF, he may not be the most powerful mage, but he does have some feats that are above the average mage. Based on Burning Tides, with his cards he can teleport where he wants to go by just picturing the place (and makes cards explode, but that isn't that amazing). Overall, I don't say TF is godlike in terms of power, but he still is a bit "unusual".

One thing to note though is that Graves uses hextech, which is noted in being slightly magical and often works off of its user, but we don't know much about its specifics thanks to both the twin cities and our favorite crystal scorpion getting big shafts in terms of attention. I would definitely wager it's at the bottom of any "power scale" though, pretty much normal; if above it, only minimally. TF I would imagine is slightly more powerful, since, like Ezreal, he seems to have a low amount of innate magic and is just channeling it through other objects. He and Ezreal actually share a lot of kit-type parallels too, come to think of it. I think we got off topic here. Sorry, thread owner. {{sticker:sg-miss-fortune}}

: Didn't he inherit magical powers somehow? Or was it retconned? I actually think Graves is one of the closest to a normal person. Besides his gun and experience in fighting, he seems pretty normal.

No champions are "normal"; they're all important in the world in some way or other. I'd take a look at the magic system thread next door to know more. Though there are several champions like Graves who aren't on that level of "I have X amount of godly power look at me go", which I guess you could put TF into too, though he has a minimal level of magic confirmed.
: Tahm Kench always reminded of John Goodman's character from O Brother Where Art Thou? more than Dr. Facilier, particularly the way he speaks. He's a high rolling white guy in deep south that has an overly flowery way of speaking (he's also really racist...Kench is a lot of bad things, but not racist).

He's a high rolling white guy in deep south that has an overly flowery way of speaking (he's also really racist...Kench is a lot of bad things, but not racist). Yeah he's definitely very different, but I think the way he does his deals is supposed to be reminiscent of voodoo, at least slightly. At least, voodoo combined with other folk legends of the area. For example, look at how Kled sees Kench, who is reminiscent of an area very near there.
: I think it would be cool if Riot made a voodoo champion with some cool voodoo lore.
Since {{champion:223}} is supposed to be reminiscent of a fat, greedy, conning robber baron from around New Orleans, he most fits this trope. People have even compared him to Dr. Facilier before (though the two are night and day in the places in society they're supposed to represent). {{champion:4}} also has a little bit of it, but he's more of a general steampunk-themed card magician, but still with a definite tint of that region.
: How Every Champion In League Could Fit Into the New Magic System
Some things to note: Nunu is also noted as having some sort of power; his bio makes it vague, but it seems that his and Willump's powers complement each other and both make up their kit's abilities. It's implied that he has powers combining snow and hope, like Anivia, whom his Notai tribe worships. So he would probably fall under elemental, plus possibly a bit of spiritual. But again, since his story is told from the dual points of view of an innocent child and a Yeti so wise we don't even know everything he knows, it's all very vague. Don't forget Vel'Koz and Rek'Sai under Void powers! Especially Vel'Koz, who has the purest of Voidborn powers. Akali is implied to have some sort of spiritual magic (particularly shown in her passive in game, and to a lesser extent, her E), but she doesn't use it nearly as much as Shen, who has the very job of going between the spirit and material worlds, and Kennen, who is literally a Yordle *from* the spirit realm. Xin Zhao possibly falls into this category too, although he leaves a bigger question mark since he's an Ionian living in Demacia; if he uses magic, he'd have to hide it at all costs, because I don't think too many Demacians would care that he comes from a land teeming with magic. Garen is another question mark; we know the powers in his kit come from Kayle, but is it just in the weapon or is some of it in him too? Is it related to Lux's light at all? Since all forms of light seem to be considered celestial in origin. Gragas is confirmed to have power, particularly super strength, based on him constantly drinking True Ice-infused brew. We don't have much info on his power though, since he has no bio or even a color story to speak of. I would say Riven is a bigger question mark; she is implied to have some sort of internal power to be able to wield her blade at all. I'd also put some more question marks by any Chemtech champions, or else put them into their own category besides Hextech. Because if the workings of Hextech have been neglected (press F for our poor neglected Skarner and his crystals), then Chemtech is ten times worse in this regard. We don't know its true workings or if chemtech users can interact with their work and be fluent in it in the same way that hextech users can. And generally, I'd still probably put a question mark, though smaller, by all "mundane" champions. We know that magic is literally everywhere in the world, it's even called *Rune*terra, and all champions stand out from the crowd in some way or other. Especially by our own standards from the world we know, they might not be what we consider mundane at all. EDIT: Amumu is likely a Yordle, so part of his magic is almost certainly spiritual, but his actual curse is 99% certainly Shuriman in origin and may very well be celestial too. And yeah, I haven't mentioned my main man TF because I'm actually not sure where to place him in this either. I would imagine his family and people have more minimal amounts of magic, "low" magic if you will, that probably corresponds to the level of power of a hextech user, just channeled through cards instead of other technology. Origin? Probably spiritual, I would guess.
: Qiyanas' (Probably T H I C C) Launch Skin Guesstimation
Yeah either Pool Party and Star Guardian are most likely, though she could fit Arcade or Project pretty easily too.

: Remember when Taliyah, Sol, Jhin, Xayah, Rakan and Kled had CG Videos as a teaser? Now we get an animated 'still' and 'in game' video instead showing off abilities at the same time. I think Aatrox was the last CG teaser, not even Kayle and Morgana were worthy of one.

Sylas did have one, and Yuumi kind of did, but yeah Sylas was really the only one since Aatrox.
: I think it had something to do with the schedule? IIRC, someone was saying Kayle/Morgana had problems that made them take more time which impacted the other champs in the pipeline, those being Qiyara, Mordekaiser and Yuumi. If Pantheon and the new Marksman don't get logins I'll seriously wonder if Riot's animation team got cut into a quarter of its previous size. Thanks for this summary though, this gives me at least a little hope. But I don't know why they're rushing things like this; I'd rather wait for more quality rather than having a lot of content rushed out.

The thing is, Taliyah also has the Zyra problem, in which making a skin for her requires a lot of model work, especially since almost every skin these days is 1350, or else the audience is almost always disappointed. So I can see why skins for her take a long time, but I do hope it means they're planning something good for her. I'd even take Arcade Taliyah.

: Qiyana theme
Even Dark Cosmic Jhin's login is underwhelming. I never thought I'd say that. But I'll make a post about that on a different topic. The link isn't working for me though.
: Qiyana: Awesome visuals, but one big missed opportunity.
Don't forget that we also have Nidalee from this region, since it's pretty obvious where she came from now, and she probably looks most similar to other lower-class hunters from this civilization. But then again, Nidalee is just that, a huntress, who wouldn't wear a fancy hairstyle like this. I definitely think that Riot could go with a cooler hair design, and I'm not sure why she has white hair either. Hair dye? But why? Or is it magic? Also, please edit the splash art's background. That's another reason her design looks so bland. There's nothing to back it up but an explosion.
Satuurn (OCE)
: I actually want Jax and Azir to interact in-lore so badly
I definitely think their interactions would be interesting, especially since, it seems, Azir was trying to bring about more tolerant policies in his time, and he might not have approved of what his ancestors did about Icathia (especially since it caused the Void rift to be summoned there). The Ascended could definitely be useful for the fight against the Void, for Jax, but he still might have to knock some sense into Azir to not go as SHURIMA crazy as he is lately.

: This is a good question! Short answer is that Mordekaiser is not a Shadow Isles champion anymore. For updates the champions bios get updated when they go to PBE but their Universe page is updated after they get fully released, which is why you still see Morde listed with Shadow Isles champs. As to the color question you're pretty much on the money, we just need to take a step further and think more holistically instead of region specific. Morde is a "vengeful spirit" bound to armor and many of the Shadow Isles are also "vengeful spirits" so they are very similar... just in different places in Runeterra. Which would beg the question is there potentially some unknown connection between what Mordekaiser is attempting and the effects of the Ruination? lol That might muddy the waters more than help but at least I hope that answers your question >. < my brain is a wondrous place and I recognize that sometimes what I say makes sense to me but no one else.
