: Thanks! Though next up is Lux by John O. I think it has some cool surprises in it.
Why are you limiting yourself to having one type of comic out? Why not release multiple comics for different champions? Marvel has no problem doing that with their IP and neither should you guys.

: Favorite/least favorite Running animation in League
Worst run animation in the game for me is Jax/Udyr. They both show their age as the oldest league champions with Udyr having the ugliest walk in the game and Jax limping as if he has a massive tumor on his back. Udyr is supposed to be a Spirit Walker but he's flopping around @ 2fps, while Jax is a weapon master and doesn't nearly have the prideful walk akin to Aatrox. These are the worse offenders to me.

Why is the balance of the game held captive by the top 0.01% of players aka Pro play? It feels terrible as a player when my favorite champions are nerfed into irrelevancy because of a group of talented individuals.

It's my birthday tomorrow and seeing this post cheered me up. Thank you Meddler for being one of the most transparent developers in gaming history. Onto my question, why does pro play dictate a large part of the balance in this game? As a player, it feels horrible that one of my favorite characters ( Azir) gets nerfed to the ground because of the top 0.1% abuses him.

Faux, while you're working on that could you potentially sneak in more champion interactions with Ekko? I've been meaning to ask this for awhile but wasn't sure of the appropriate forum. If I were apart of the make-a-wish foundation then my wish would be for all future champions to have some kind of voice interaction with Ekko.
: There were a lot of interactions, but ultimately it didn't feel right for the character to have a lot of VO lines toward other characters. People to him are either on his list or going to be on his list. As an unhinged murderer, he's not close to a lot of people, or even aware of their reputations. They are just names to be added to and then crossed off his list. Many times, champ-specific VO lines don't fire as often as other lines that reinforce the in-game fantasy. Sorry I disappointed you on this front, I hope you'll still find some fun playing Pyke and reading more about his character. Thank you for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate you :)

I know I would kill for Ekko to have dozen more interactions with other champions ( how the hell does he have only 5 minutes worth of VO?!). That's just my personal opinion. Hopefully, in the future, you will allow more champion interactions. It is undeniably my favorite part of a champion's VO being released.

: Oh hi it me. Am interested in getting Nid back into a solo lane. Seems high value if we can achieve it given her gameplay and thematics. The issue I'm running into is that her current kit doesn't seem to support lane play without a number of game health risks or risks of making her jungle bonkers. As a result I expect getting lane Nidalee back would take a number of larger mechanical shifts on the champion as opposed to simple numbers changes. This is doable, but would take time (Similar scope to the work we did on Rengar). Was thinking of doing some exploratory work on her once I wrap up work on my current VGU. No promises however, the exploration could end up yielding nothing of value (Would only make changes if we were confident Lane Nid AND jungle Nid were being made better).

Two questions for ya, 1) Why is your name RiotAugust on twitter but Riot Jinxylord here? 2) Since the new announcement that Riot is looking to open up alternative playstyles have you given thought to allow Ekko to build AD again (not tank)? This could be accomplished by simply giving him back the AD he lost when tankko nerfs hit his kit. Additionally, thank you for creating Ekko, Jinxylord.
: To start off, you're 100% correct in expressing frustration when you feel the game **you** play is negatively impacted by balance decisions that are made focused on the highest levels of play. You're opinion is one that's certainly shared by a large group of players, but it's also only one of several of the demographics that make up our playerbase that we're trying to serve with both solo queue and the professional scene. Let me elaborate: Group A - Just wants to play League doesn't care about the pro scene Group B - Enjoys League, tunes in occasionally to watch the pro scene (usually for big things like playoff finals, MSI, Worlds) Group C - Enjoys League, watches LCS religiously (every weekend they make time to watch every game or atleast the games with their favorite teams. Group D - Used to play League, doesn't anymore, but still watches the LCS because they like the pro scene Group E - Never played League before, but I friend told them it was pretty cool and got them to watch a few games. *These groups are not all encompassing, but what I'm trying to outline is that the number of people that care about there being some amount of focus put on pro play balance is far greater than just the players that actually play professionally. Now, more direct to your point, I have a desire/goal for a future where we don't have to make as many changes to champions based on their performance in pro play nearly as much as we do now. Right now we're beset by two conflicting goals, we (Riot) really want pro play to be as exciting as possible, and professional teams really want to win, more or less regardless of the tactics. Why these conflict is that the path to victory is often one of min maxing for risk/reward - which manifests as choosing more generically strong champions with less pronounced weaknesses, and then out macroing the shit out of your opponent. Why choose Zed when you can pick Ryze who's proven to have far fewer weaknesses when playing in a low ping, highly coordinated environment as an example? In order to make Zed a more likely pick in pro, we'd likely need to buff him drastically to overcome his weaknesses/counterplay - which is a surefire way of putting him in crazy territory for our average solo queue warrior. Since that isn't really a great option, we need to find another way. We're currently putting some brainpower in how we could help shelter pro play from specific points of imbalance, letting us put less focus on pro play in regards to balance and focusing more on the regular game. It sucks to have your champion heavily nerfed, especially when it's for something you don't care about, we totally understand that, and ideally we can find a world where that can become less of a thing that we need to do. Potential avenues could be exploring changes to the drafting phase beyond 10 bans. There really isn't much to talk about yet though. At the end of the day we highly value League as a spectator sport, and we'll continue to make changes that we believe help achieve that. We just need to make sure we're doing our diligence when we're making big changes that could impact the way the players actually engage with the game and make sure the cost is worth it. I stand by our decision to remove trackers as an example, as I firmly believe the value in terms of "quality of game" we get both in pro and normal was worth the cost of removing that one item. To close off, we simply can't shackle ourselves by only making decisions that all players will find agreeable, as doing so would mean we should probably just stop making any meaningful changes to the game period, and that's not a world that I think we should be moving towards. ps - the archangels change is only archangels. Once it's upgraded to Seraph's you get the full 3% ap again. Right now it's simply too good as a rush item when it's intended to be more mid/late game scaling power spike.

Sorry to hijack your thread but when will Lucian be seriously looked at?
: @Meddler, when can we expect a serious {{champion:62}} discussion? No matter how good you are with the champion, his binary kit doesn't allow you to be as competitive and climb compared to playing other champions. most champs he used to counter got changed / buffed in a way or another, he does not fall in any class, you build him Assassin just to raise your chances of killing priority targets to win the game, he has an assassin's kit but a teamfight ultimate which can be easily denied and outdamaged/lifestealed/shielded. He's been out of meta for too long, and he needs some love. Can we at least begin with the passive?
Meddler, I don't usually comment on posts or upvote but as a previous Wukong player who dropped the champion because he feels so bland and linear please respond to to this or converse about Wukong in the next gameplay thoughts.
: This is the correct answer. If you check out the rest of our comic collabs, they're all 12 pages long except for Crystal Quest.
This is a really high-quality comic. I was just about ready to give up on these after Crystal Quest but lord, Tom did an amazing job and I can't wait for the next one.
: Just want to say, as a minority, you writers really can stop having EVERY SINGLE DANG comic end with a final page featuring a POC getting the best of a white character. I mean, it's not required authoring anymore. Maybe in 2004 it was "oh yeah - POC POWER". Now I just wager on which POC is going to knock the hero over the head in the final page. For this comic I guessed a charm combo from Evelynn and Ahri soothing the Viking. I guessed too elaborately, as it really was just a knock on the head. Against the Viking who's in the middle of his "cannot be disabled" ultimate but god forbid anything get in the way of the standard not-actually-a-surprise-ending-since-the-1980s. You really can just have a viking - white - kick everyone's butts. It's okay. And better. Seriously - Illaoi knocks him out to.... what.... send him on his way to his destiny? "I'm putting this speed bump in your way so you can go faster, because otherwise the comic is just a viking beating people up."
What the hell are you saying? Can a moderator just delete this blatant inflammatory comment? Please?

Hey CoolRadius. I'm not really used to the boards so I don't know how to ping someone to a post but in light of all the negative feedback on Kai'Sa and to my understanding you are her primary writer how do you personally feel about the disappointment that people are feeling in regards to her character?
: Nerfs seem like they overshot a bit, so we're looking to compensate a bit. He dropped a lot more than expected, going from #1 winrate ADC to dead last, so they were probably a bit much.
Kog is dead last? Op.gg & lolalytics both report Lucian as the worst ADC/dead last. Are these sites wrong or are you exaggerating? Speaking of which, did the Lucian buffs do anything because it doesn't look like his WR changed.
: Lucian changes are in for testing
What in particular are your goals for this buff and what about Lucian are you buffing? Do you simply want to get Lucian out of the rut that he's in while more substantial work is done or something else?
: Isn't 50% a good thing?
His winrate is 44%. The 50% number I reported was for players who had 100+ games on Lucian. I get all my data from https://lolalytics.com/ranked/worldwide/platinum/plus/grid/ and he's been in the garbage for a few months now with only recent talk of him being buffed. I realize they get a lot of questions asked so I'm hoping this is an easy one to answer.

Lucian has been in the gutter for quite awhile. I sincerely hope that Huni's recent toplane performance on Lucian doesn't deter you guys from any incoming buffs. His winrate is 50% for experienced players. That's horrific. Are you guys still planning on buffing Lucian?

: He is. It is actually very common for a designer to be working on 2 projects at the same time. One in full production and one in ideation. We just talked about Aatrox way earlier then we usually do. RiotJag started on the new champ right after he finished Camille. Once a Champion goes into full production it’s mostly about art/anim/vfx/Sfx and the designer is usually able to start early explorations on new projects. Like SolCrushed started ideation on Sejuani right after the Assassins update which was long before Galio shipped. And he started Irelia ideation shortly after Galio shipped while Sej was in full production, for example.
Hey Reav3! I'm a big fan of Certainly. After Zoe when can I expect his next wonderful creation and in the form of a new Champion or a VGU? Furthermore how many projects is he currently working on? T is my favorite designer (directly next to August, thanks for creating my lil time man!) so any answers would be appreciated. Thank you.
: Fair point, I'll bring it up with the writers and suggest we do more breadth than depth with the next champ I work on. The interaction lines don't usually carry too much weight for a characters lore though, they are mostly closer to /joke lines written for the fun of it. Long bio and subsequent lore content such as comics paint a much stronger picture. As I mentioned if you're really interested in what she thinks of other champions I'd ask WAAAGHbobo.
Kindlejack, you guys need to be more mindful of the fact that the primary way of interacting with Zoe is in-game. I don't want to go too in-depth but you guys can do far better when it comes to a champion's specific interaction lines. I wrote something up yesterday detailing my disappointment with Zoe's specific lines, check it out if you'd like.
: Zoe has no Taric interactions? Seriously?
Tagging this thread so when the AMA crops up I can direct them here. I don't have any problems with her liking Ezreal, nor the obsessive quotes, but when it places limits on a champion I do take issue. Riot acknowledged that we wanted to see Champions interacting with other champions.. however, is this what you thought we meant? I would have loved to listen to Zoe interacting with other champions of different factions, not just Lux/Ezreal. So much potential wasted.. what the hell were you guys thinking? Narrative or whoever does write the voice over script usually does a bang out job. EDIT: Hope they learn from this and write more champion interaction lines in the future. That's what I look forward to the most in any champion reveal, seeing how a champion fits into the world and interacts with others.

Usually, I try not to post on the board because I find it a cesspool of ignorance and low-quality debates (granted there are great exceptions), however arguments like this make me sigh audibly and it's time to finally address it. Any champion can sound blatantly bloated when you list their kit like that, for example, Aatrox has a Malphite Ulti on his Q, TWO not one but TWO speed steroids, slow on his E.. wow, yeah, no. Try not to sound biased when you are engaging in an argument. My name is Ekko Will Rekko, yes, but I apply the same philosophy online as I do to my club debates - remain unbiased.

We're going with nerfing Rek'Sai and Gragas at least, rather than increasing the ability for other champions to clear at really high health levels. Sometimes being well below full health when looking to gank's a pretty important lever in the relationship between junglers and laners.

Will we be able to have the option to ping our latency to teammates, just as we can ping our abilities cooldowns?

Will we be able to ping our latency in chat to our teammates?

: Hey IHavePipi! We had a hunch the VO talent could sing - so we did a vocal test during her final script record. She nailed it, so we had her come in and do the login theme as well!

She nailed it, so we had her come in and do the login theme as well! The way you say this makes it seem that your team is in charge of recording the voice-over for champions, is that true and if not then who does?
: Patch Chat with Playtest - Comet Dragon
This isn't really the most appropriate thread to ask this question but whatever, is there a possibility Wukong could get an updated passive that is maybe more exciting than just free armor/magic resist? I'll understand if there isn't enough bandwidth to cover KingKong with a majority of focus on Mage Update but any reply would be appreciated and cherished, thank you. {{champion:62}}

Are you fearful that the system(s?) created by the player behavior will eventually lead to your job being invalidated and thus cut?
: Between Two Turrets - Come chat with Jaredan! [COMPLETE]
Thanks for answering all the questions so far Jaredan, the board community really does appreciate Q&A sessions that the reds do. Will the Yi we're getting more lore on be after he's trained Wukong or before they've met one another?
: Between Two Turrets - Come chat with Jaredan! [COMPLETE]
I would like to get straight to the point. Are there any plans for Wukong & Master Yi?
: I was agreeing with the sentiment that reworks shouldn't be experiments, not making a comment about any of my coworkers. Sorry if that was unclear.

Sorry if that was unclear. Hey RiotRepertoir, thanks for popping into these threads and communicating with us. I as well as the rest of the boards really do appreciate how transparent you tend to be. My question is this, out of the 4 new designers on the team how many would you say are progressive and willing to make massive changes to a champion like CertaintlyT with his creative rework of Graves, Mordekaiser ( before the Q nerf, was a fan of three hit being explosive ) and how many are conservative willing to stay true to the original elements of the champion/try not to change them a whole lot like... you!? : The Reason why everyone hates CertainlyT (as explained by ZenonTheStoic)
Stop generalizing, no seriously stop generalizing, not everybody agrees with you. I don't usually comment on the boards but this is getting ridiculously, "everybody hates CertainlyT.." stfu please, not everybody hates CertainlyT, I love his designs. I love Yasuo, Zed. CertainlyT is extraordinarily creative, way more than any of the other game designers I hope he continues his career at Riot, CT; I love you man.
: Balance Team Q+A #2 - Ask Us Anything (Again!) [COMPLETE]
So my question is rather to the point and short unlike the poster above me (lol) What do you think about the State of Wukong top & are there any upcoming changes to the monkey? Also, he's called the Monkey King but none of that is reflected in his kit or lore, what's the deal?

: Some gameplay work in progress, general gameplay thoughts (10/20/2015)
Hey Meddler! I saw that you listed Azir in your previous post can you clarify what's going to happen to the birdman? Also, are there any changes coming up to Wukong & Jax? FeralPony says Wukong is crazy op but as a Wukong main i'm just not feeling it, his biggest counters were buffed (Renekton and now Cho'gath) and even reworked to become stronger than they were previously (Darius, Garen..) the meta has changed and left him behind and I hate it. Wukong feels old. He feels so helplessly against these other top laners, he doesn't have the sustain nor does he have the damage and that leaves a very bitter feeling in my mouth. any plans for the wu-man? (sorry in advance for this post, I'm not very good at expressing my thoughts)
: So my harrowing hype boner was just killed.
The skins are pretty trash but lets hope the new harrowing story this year isn't! . . . rip {{champion:268}}

Unless she gets changed to be like a 1800+ skin I don't see anything being amazing about her aside for sparkles on her Q-arang. > Could have been one of so many great champs with great effects yet we get this nonsense. That said, who would you have preferred? You can't say Morgana because she already has one. :P I'm curious who you guys think should have been chosen for the Victorious skin because Sivir was one of the most requested champions when we announced it was for an ADC.

I think Victorious Sivir was the wrong choice this years, but they don't pay me the big bucks for my opinions! ..they don't pay me at all actually. {{champion:268}} {{champion:150}}

Right now the main criteria is impact in professional and ranked play during the season. We also look to fill out team comps if possible, so not picking two jungles two seasons in a row. As others have stated "impact" in the season can vary from person to person, so X champion may not feel like the right choice to some number of players.

Hello Riot Galetta, with that logic in mind then why weren't Gnar/Azir chosen for the championship/victorious skins? They've had a HUGE impact in competitive since both of their respective releases ( barring my man azir's bugs). I'd just like to know why Kalista/Sivir were chosen, don't get me wrong I don't watch pro play that much but when I do I usually see Gnar/Azir and players just wrecking with these two, warping the entire game with just their presence. cheers {{champion:268}} {{champion:150}}
