I never said that is what I would expect it to merely download item costs. That's your short-sighted assumption-riddled brain. Oooh "An Entire Webpage" I've been coding since before you were in diapers. You are about to get schooled : If they didn't use web technology to render the commerce section of the client, they would then have to build a native store (or perhaps a purchasable module that can be integrated into whatever crappy stack it is this is built on*). There is NO REASON to expect this native store to run any faster than utilizing web technology, which, by the way, is a very mature technology with fairly open standards and scores of modules to help implement. Why? Because the client can't even run champion select reliably. If the client cannot handle the rather trivial selection process of 143 champions, the ban, 10 people, the chatting during it, then it sure as hell is not going to be able to cope with a store of 2,000+ items, the chromas, the dual costs. Heck the client can't even display the hextech crafting menu reliably. I am being 100% honest here when I say my computer, and I ain't running no potato, you dipshits, often does not display the hextech crafting section correctly. *See, I don't bother to look because, as a software developer and, actually no, just as a person who has played video games since the Commodore 64, I know that something is wrong with the client. PS : I'm tired of this fucking trope of anytime anyone here complains that the software is shitty, they must not have any idea what goes into coding. Riot is a fucking billion dollar enterprise, that by any rational assessment (you know, people who don't just drink the kool-aid like you), has been treating their game like an afterthought. They should be able to produce a reliable client. If they treated it like a professional sport with the actual dignity it deserves, it wouldn't have taken so fucking long to show people the stats for a game that has million-dollar grand prizes, the half assed lore. To be honest, the stats are pretty good, but by no means complete. If this was the NFL (I don't watch sports but I have a thorough understanding of how they operate), it would be immediately obvious what I'm talking about. That's a whole different conversation that no one else in this thread is mentally capable of usefully participating in, except maybe that Koala guy. I recently tried Fortnite. Yeah, really, like 4 days ago. It puts League to shame and they know it. I'm sure they are beholden to some archaic code base, and perhaps more than that, internal politics and perhaps even downright software random. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised, the community is toxic, you think it stops there? And last thing, don't even bother trying to talk about programming any more, at least to me, I ain't reading it. I can tell you learned it in the era where you also didn't have to learn how to verbally communicate or have much of an ability to think critically. League of the Unteachable

Have you ever written any code? I get what you are saying, but I have been coding since I was pre-teen. Think about it. What features does the client have that should make it run so slowly on a modern machine? It's a pretty simple program, when you compare it to other complete games. The store is a very very simple store. If you listed the requirements, tell me which of them would have made a game run slowly 10 years ago. The store is literally still internet based, not client based. For someone who codes, you seem to not have looked into this at all.
What does "internet based" mean? Which online stores aren't "internet based"? How does a store being "internet based" mean champion selection (by the way, this is a part of the game which has almost ZERO to do with the store) has to time out for people to the point where the player just can't even select 1 out of 143 items on a screen. How does that make any sense to you? To be clear - I don't even have that much of a problem but I know others do. However, it does lag once every 40 games maybe, on any machine I have played it on. It's clear you aren't a deep thinker. If you note my original post, it may even imply I think the programmers are competent, and that the only explanation for why such a simple game client should run so slowly is that it's also mining crypto.

: Riot doesn't care
There is a partial solution to this. Riot needs to take the responsibility of educating players on how to play their game. I say this as a 6 year player who barely stays in Silver. When I first played this game, and for the first several years that I played, I approached this game how I approached all the other single player games that I have ever played: Fuck the manual and just play the game and figure it out as you go. This worked well enough for a casual player who called himself a 'jungler' and didn't buy pink wards, if the team was toxic, started auto farming the jungle as if it was a single player efficiency trainer. Never watched videos and rarely consulted with anyone else about how to do anything. Several things that I learned about the game came from my teammates flaming me. The game might as well have been called 'Warwick learns about his Friends or Enemies', as far as I was concerned. It takes a lot of games to figure out, by pure iterative osmosis, how to dodge/avoid each of the 700 some odd abilities and what their cooldowns might be, across several distinct points in the game, with various builds/gold leads. The solution is Achivements. League is a video game and it is a sport, so it will always have the burdens associated with learning each type of challenge. But it is still a video game and certain things can be quantized. It's immediately obvious to me that there could be hundreds if not thousands of achievements that would reduce the learning curve of the game. Yasuo, stack your Q off raptors, and then your empowered Q on a cannon minion. Shit like that. Literally thousands of cicrumstsnces. 700 some odd abilities each with an average of 5 easily identifiable tasks to build into an achievement, not to mention combos, multi-champion combos, allied and versus. farming and objective based achievements, and item usage, It could be tens of thousands. From this perspective it's more than a tad embarrassing that all they have are the missions.

: Vayne nerfs on PBE
Are my calculations correct, that previously rageblade vayne would give (assume 300 dmg per hit) 1st hit : 300 2nd hit : 300 + 300 + 14% new: 1st hit : 300 2nd hit : 300 3rd hit : 300 + 300 + 10% so in 6 auto attacks 900 + 14% x 3 to 1200 + 10% x 2 Assuming 2000 HP target, 3540 vs 2800 or a 20% dmg nerf Seems pretty absurd. Do they math this out, maybe even with simulators, our just pick numbers that "feel" good?
: Cupid Zac skin idea
Riot has been sitting on this idea for two years!?!?!
: Heartseeker Zac would fit the skin line, but matchmaker Zac does sound better.
Matchmaker Zac with heart shaped blobs!
: Prestige Points and new prestige edition skins
I have to agree with the overall sentiment here. It sure seems like Riot did not spend a lot of time really thinking deeply about what Prestige skins mean. I unlocked Kai'sa and Akali. I realized, after getting akali, that I don't even know how to play her, and there are literally thousands of akali mains out there that just didn't happen to have the opportunity to binge on league to get the points during some arbitrary period of time. Good job alienating two different types of players with this whole 'Prestige' thing : Players that don't like the idea of paying a lot of cash for status (but who don't have a problem with expensive skins like the Ultimates existing) Players who didn't happen to have the time to get tokens or the money during your arbitrary window of availability on these champs. Of course you are also going to alienate akali mains who have to suffer/enjoy laning against me as I struggle to learn akali in a very fancy skin. And then the people who do get these skins later, through random procedures like shard rerolls or something, they just get it out of sheer luck. Do you people not think beyond two levels down on anything? Something is becoming a little transparent here. Ultimate skins cost $35 and arguably require a considerable amount of technical and artistic effort to produce. Riot knows that their platform cannot produce a skin with enough technical pizzaz or artistic effort to warrant spending $110. So they've come up with a sort of a trophy type of skin but they didn't think it through, because all those skins tell the world are : You either had a lot of time on your hands during a certain window of time. You had some disposable income during a certain window of time. You got lucky rerolling skin shards. All 3 almost completely devoid of a player's actual dedication to the game. I do think the Prestige Kai'sa and Akali skins are very sharp looking, but I would never have spent $110 on them. I liked that playing well got me more tokens towards these prestige skins. Random idea, free of charge : Consider making it much easier to unlock a prestige skin, but that using them requires the expenditure of an "S" token, which can only be earned by getting an S on that champ post mastery 7. Bonus round: Consider allowing players to use "S" tokens to lend a skin to a friend for a single game, once per week.

I was just in a lobby (someone else dodged), where three of the 4 other lovely humans I was randomly selected to play with began to spout Nazi stuff for no apparent reason. Here's an idea : put these people in modified games where they are playing AI (with randomized real-sounding names) and make two of their champ abilities not work after some predetermined length of time or number of kills. Maybe they can be unwittingly moved to a toxic server so that Riot can keep taking their money and these people can hate speech each other to their hearts content.

: Starter T3 runes now on permanent discount
Runes have always felt like an unnecessary layer of complexity. Let's look at it from multiple angles. Angle 1 : Game Dynamics The functionality of runes could have been bundled into Masteries. There is barely even a thematic reason not to. Angle 2 : Art You've spent just about zero time on the art for Runes. Please don't take this as criticism, whether you should have or not is another matter and I honestly have almost no opinion on it. But clearly they are not serving much as far as the artistry of the game. I can think of dozens of ways to make runes more fun and would occupy a few graphic design / computer art interns time for a month or two and they'd probably leave and talk about how much fun it is to work at Riot. Angle 3 : IP The whole IP system is kind of silly. I mean for starters they're inflated; you can divide it all by 10 and no one would care. Add betting. Bet on observable games with IP. People would love it. I digress. So back to Runes. They cost IP, which actually isn't half as annoying as the freaking interface for runes. It's designed like a 1996 web page when everyone thought checkboxes and select boxes were cool. It has the design and layout pizzaz of someone who just decided "that's it, I'm leaving this boring ass job where I design trading software that is used only by the most soulless of individuals so that I can go make games!!". I know because I used to be one of those guys. Seriously I think I have ordered esoteric plumbing parts from a distributor using an interface that was more fun than the Runes one. I actually need to buy more Runes but I never really look into (I'm an on-again-off-again type player btw) because I rather make do with the half set I bought than have to go through that frustrating interface. Angle 4 : What the &!#% are Runes? Are we collecting little seals? In the confines of the reality of the fiction of the game, do they exist? Are they in summoner's minds? Why do they look like either dry brittle barely flavorful biscuits OR a set of crappy commemorative plates that will eventually gather dust. No offense but the whole Lore system feels like the jankyness of _actual_ religions (pieced together from rituals that were likely developed by brilliant yet mentally deranged minds). It's cool how you've managed to piece together Anime-like worlds with Lord of the Rings-like worlds with HP Lovecraft-like worlds plus probably half a dozen others. By "managed to piece together" I mean by using several dozen boxes of oversize packing tape. It sort of like when my 6 year old cousin says "OMG WHAT IF SAILOR MOON WAS IN GAME OF THRONES?!" That's a lie by the way. No one says that. I mean I just did, but that's not the point. PS I love this game. Any criticism I've made is just like about that remaining 2% of work to bring it to the next level.
: Takes many attempts to connect to game
This is interesting. When I connected to my mobile hotspot, I still had connection issues, until I restarted the LoL lobby thing.
