His sickly pale skin and ghostly blue eyes revealed his undeath. His long hair and voice revealed that he was indeed the lead singer of Pentakill: Karthus. "Please explain to me why I've allowed you to journey this far to my castle," he demanded. "I should have opened the earth beneath your feet and left you to the ravenous spirits a day's walk ago. The exterior walls were in fine condition and the keep in the center peered above the chilly fog. Should the traveler walk into the courtyard, he'd notice storage sheds, greenhouses, a stable, barracks, and other outbuildings. Though everything was well kept, not a soul was in sight. > > The door to the keep was closed, but it didn't matter. Before the traveler made it that far, he would be curtly greeted by a thin figure wearing deep black robes. But I didn't, so I need a reason to have not done so while it would have been easy to leave you to Kalista or Hecarim or any one of my more violent brethren." He had a point. Even though Karthus wasn't dressed for battle at the moment, he would still be nearly impossible to fight in his home territory. His ancient tally-staff and his dreaded book weren't in hand, and he was dressed fairly relaxed. Maybe the old ghost simply wasn't in the mood for combat? *the older man started then put his hands up in a how of compliance* "i mean no harm nor did i realize i had invaded your territory, im simply an old wanderer." *the man put down his hood to show a face weathered by time but not age, with smile lines and heavy scaring visible on his neck, if karthus looked he would see an empty weapon belt*

The man carried an ax, and the woman a bow. Taking seats with the other travelers, they sat and listened. *the old mans raspy breathing gradually calmed and he sat up straight again* " the body of the mage was buried near his tower with all ceremony and flair, though it has been said that only the village elder and a few townsfolk came to it, and he was buried deep beneath the ice and snow. now this was in the age of the ancients back when the mages had the power to remake the world around them into their image, so as darkness fell a fortnight later, dark and evil magic stirred on one of the mountains near the village. horrible screaming and screeching was heard that night, as if the soul it's self was screaming in agony and rage. three night this continued, until the bravest boy in the village had heard enough and ventured up the mountain, much to the fears of his family and the elders, and on the very summit of the mountain he found a horrific sight." *the old man takes a breath and continues* "what he saw was the entire mountain summit covered in dried blood, blacked by the cold and a man standing in front of an altar rallying his strength after the night of work, in the young mans horror he froze and stopped moving entirely, this most likely saved his life for the man rested all day until the twilight hours where he rose and began his final steps of the ritual, it is not known what ritual the man preformed, all the story says is that an object of great power was placed in the body of the dead mage, for that was the body on the altar, and in the moment he did the soul returned to the body and a great rage was felt, the mage blinded by rage, wrath, and magic, leaped off of the altar at the mage and literally tore him to shreds, until not even blood remained, it was then that the boy fled for he knew if he had stayed longer he would have been killed soon if not immediately after." *the old man sipped his drink than looked around at the faces surrounding him* "there is more but, i have half a mind the let that be part of your imagination for it is sad and rather boring for a long while"
