: > The game camera indeed follows Sion as he ults, but it is more involved than just locked camera. During the ult, the camera leads Sion so he can see better the area in front of him, and doesn't pay attention to the area behind him. Sion is locked but off-center so you can drive better. > > This is a new camera feature we made for Sion and we're still working on it, but we're very happy with how it's working out! That's awesome! So that confirmation leads me to my next question. Is there any way or plans to implement this type of camera to normal gameplay as another alternative to a "semi-locked" camera? The smoothness of this camera follow almost resembles a spectator camera. I don't use camera lock because I like to position my camera where the champ is offset so that I can see what's ahead of me. I just feel this would be greatly beneficial to the quality of life in League of Legends.

I just feel this would be greatly beneficial to the quality of life in League of Legends. For the scope of the Sion ultimate case, our new camera feature works properly, but it's not yet robust enough to handle the various other gameplay scenarios that players require during a match. We do want to improve the game camera and the Clarity team is looking into long term solutions that should help for all champs, not just Sion.
: Sometime last spring Guinsoo mentioned both Fiora and Warwick reworks, are those still ongoing?
> Sometime last spring Guinsoo mentioned both Fiora and Warwick reworks, are those still ongoing? As of this moment, Fiora and Warwick are not in progress. Soon after Sion is out, we'll be updating this page that documents upcoming Champion updates with who's coming up next. https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/40116190-Champion-Update-Schedule

: Just a quick question on Sion's Ultimate. From what it looks like the Camera follows him when he ults, where the focus is more on where Sion is charging. Is this true, or are we just seeing someone using the ultimate with the cursor at the edge of the screen? The Camera Lock keeps champs in the middle of the screen, which I would imagine would be rough with his ult (limited vision for how fast you are moving)

: Since Sion's new ultimate is like a Rammus q that needs to avoid walls rather than minions, how does the hitbox of the ult match up to the visual of Sion's character model. If i am running close to a wall, not touching it (visually), will my ult be wasted and cause me to fail my gank or roam by clipping some invisible part of the map?

There is a little bit of forgiveness if you "shave" the edge of a wall, but you're right Sion is a big dude now. Threading the needle between walls and turrets for example is not recommended, though technically possible for the most elite Sion pilots. Invisible corners on the map can be more annoying to Sion than to most other champions. Thankfully the Summoner's Rift Update will help this quite a bit by cleaning up some of collision zones and better matching the map visuals to the gameplay space.
: Since you guys did the same type of thing with the Naut anchor and the various terrain stuns, will sion become stunned if he ults into player made terrain?
> Since you guys did the same type of thing with the Naut anchor and the various terrain stuns, will sion become stunned if he ults into player made terrain? Yes, he'll stun himself on Anivia walls and such. If you have the reactions to to put a Cataclysm around him, then more power to you! Related note: being stuck inside a Cataclysm with a Glory in Death Sion is not a positive experience.
: **Gameplay -** 1.) What was the inspiration for Sion's E, and why was it made to be a non-piercing+minion/monster launch skillshot? From a Sion player perspective, it seems quite clunky and is a harder to hit version of Olaf's Undertow. **Gameplay/Visual -** 1.) The range indicator for Sion's Q, is it a perfect cone (and the indicator is just stylized), or does the area of effect follow exactly as the indicator shows? 2.) Will there be something on Sion's Q to show how much the knockup duration is charged for? Even though it shows the range increasing, which is extremely valuable information to show to the player, it seems like they'd want to know how much knockup they are charging up for too. **Art -** 1.) What is the story behind the dagger in the back of his head, replacing the ponytail of his not-undead self? 2.) What is the story behind his "soul furnace"? How did it come to be? Did it originate from the ritual? **Lore -** 1.) There was a Rioter who said awhile ago that Sion's passive "does not have a hard duration limit", but it is still "enough time to get one's hands around a king's neck". Did Sion have this whole "death defiance" thing while he was not undead? I was under the impression that this "death defiance" was a part of his undead nature only. 2.) This is more of a clarification thing with his lore. After the Black Rose resurrected dead Sion, but before Swain got his hands on Sion, Sion was an indiscriminate killing machine who would kill anyone and everyone. Was the ritual that Swain put Sion under, and what Vladimir carried out, meant to give Sion a bloodlust for ONLY Demacians, as hinted by Swain wanting "the blood of the prince"? 2a.) And what does "the blood of the prince" exactly refer to? Jarvan IV's own personal blood, or any blood from the Lightshield bloodline? 2b.) And how did the Black Rose obtain this blood, if it is specifically Jarvan IV's blood?
Regarding the E: a lot of people have trouble hitting with the minion bounce because they look at it like playing billiards, thinking about geometry {{champion:161}}. It's actually much more simple than that-- just shoot it more or less directly at your target, and if there are minions in between, your range is increased. For reliability and simplicity, the minion bounce doesn't respect the angle of incidence of the incoming E projectile, but rather they simply fly in the direction that you aimed in the first place.
: any teaser for what's next after Sion? I know he tied with Poppy for those "must-rework" champs, but what made him difficult to design art-wise?
It's definitely early to commit to anything (we're still trying to make sure Sion is good to ship!) but the most likely scenario is that the team will focus briefly on less high-risk projects to make sure to deliver a good amount of cool stuff as the holiday season approaches. If the team focused on only enormous projects like Sion, we'd be delivering once every couple of months-- but we want to become more reliable so people don't have to wait for too long. Long story short: there will be some smaller-scope and lower-risk projects coming out after Sion and before the next high-scope project, to maintain reliable delivery and the sanity of the team.
: Will you be making a Pre-Death Sion skin?? Something like this perhaps? http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/va9wX1rL-sions-pre-death-skin-yeah I think a lot of us would love a skin of him depicting his former glory as a living general. Hell, you could name it General Sion! Hope you at east consider it. Anyways, thanks for doing this AMA and all the hard work you've done!
Sion from the Glory Days would indeed be really cool. For this project we focused entirely on the existing skins to make sure the funny ones were as funny as possible and the badass ones were as badass as possible, but who knows what's in store for future skins {{champion:14}}

: Did you run into any bugs/problems with Sion that were just so ridiculous they made you laugh?
My favorite was when Azir and Sion were both in testing, and when Sion would ult the Azir wall, he'd get knocked back-- but he'd still be in the charge. So he'd bounce off the wall over and over, trying to get through faster and faster. It looked like an enormous Noxian fireball jumping on a Shuriman trampoline!

: It's going to come up so: Can you explain the choice to not do a Traditional Sion skin?
Like I mentioned in other posts, we're not doing a Traditional skin for Sion, because ultimately we don't believe that we can faithfully and fully deliver on an "Old Sion experience" with the Sion update within scope. For this particular post I'll focus on the VO aspect: Some players are really attached to the Arnie quotes, but that's only really describing the English voice-over experience, for a reference most meaningful to only specific players around the world. I'm not saying that delivering on that isn't valuable, but rather that we decided it was more valuable to focus on the more advanced and full VO experience for all Sions and skins that would be meaningful regardless of region or language. Sion's updated VO is more cohesive with his identity, and for the first time in League of Legends, he is able to ramp up and down in overall intensity as the battlefield conditions change. Retrofitting his existing Arnie VO into this new system and supporting it long-term so that the few players that currently own Sion are able to have what we believe to be a low-quality (non-cohesive and extremely short-script) experience, was not worth it, especially when taking into account how little the existing Traditional skins are owned or used in-game.
: If Sion gets stunned while channeling his Q, does the spell still go off?
If the Sion player is is stunned, knocked up, or silenced during his Q, the channel is interrupted but he is refunded a bunch of his cooldown so he can use it again more quickly. That way, it's satisfying for the opponent to be able to stop his Q, but not crippling to Sion's combo.
: The traditional Sion question is being dropped A LOT, so instead of asking you about that, I'll ask question A, but since this question doesn't have much to do with Sion so to compensate I made question B A) Why do you shy away from some questions made by a huge part of the playerbase, instead of just answering or just saying "we can't answer that"? B) What was the idea behind the hole he has on his tummy ("the Soul Furnace" if I'm not mistaken)?
Great question, especially since the Champ Update team is usually very vocal about our projects with the community. We made the call to not make the Traditional skin a while ago, but since we knew that some players would be disappointed in the short term, decided to wait till this Q&A to discuss the details. That way, we can have a more reliable back-and-forth about this subject with players.
: Will {{champion:14}} get a price increase and a traditional skin when he is released onto the main servers?
First of all, Sion will definitely not be getting a price increase with the update. We're still considering how the increased Champ update pipeline might affect overall pricing (if at all), but that's still pretty long-term at this point. As for your other question, Sion will not be getting a Traditional skin. We focused 100% of our effort on the base Sion and his existing skins, to make sure our new Sion is the best version of Sion we can possibly deliver.
: We don't really have anyone "in charge". The entire team is there to make sure they're making a holistic product. Though we do have this guy Fruity Sebbles who's our producer on the team. It's ultimately his responsibility that we make the thing we're trying to make.
Heh, I'm "RiotSeb" on the Patch Rundown and such, "Fruity Sebbles" is my soloqueue name :P
