: Sightstone is a cost efficient item, giving you health and an invaluable active for only 800 gold. Making it a summoner spell would be overpowered and pretty much everyone would take it, and this would drastically change the game and literally everyone would complain that this game is no longer balanced because there are wards in every single bush. Junglers would become obsolete at higher elo and we'd resort to having a second support player top.
I'm not saying "make sightstone a summoner spell", I'm saying replace sightstone with a warding summoner spell. Gating the full power of the spell behind a requirement for purchasing/upgrading a support item would prevent everyone from taking it.
: Additional warding needs to come at a price...even if it is the mere 800g. For a support, buying the sightstone is usually a "ugh I don't want to but I need to" option...meaning that it is a crucial decision. You can't take that away from the role.
losing exh/ignite is a pretty hefty price. I think you are hitting the nail on the head saying "ugh I don't want it but I need to". There's gotta be a way to make it more fun for the support.

I agree with you that it is efficient. I do not think that it is fun to have a "must buy" item for a given role. It's boring to know that the support "has to" buy it within their first 3 Bs, making the role feel formulaic. Also, SS costs a significant amount of a support's overall gold, but does not offer any "high moments". It makes doing your chores more efficient, which isn't very appealing gameplay wise compared to items that augment your abilities. (Yes I know that the active is very powerful, my point is that it doesn't feel very satisfying)

: Well, I'm not sure how dynamic queue works, but apparently, if a position is very much sought after and it happens to be your own first pick, then you are most likely to get second pick. Also, supports are rare, and it is natural (but probably not intentional) that players who are willing to be a support, even if only secondarily, are allowed to. I know how you feel, I haven't played as a jungler in ages essentially in Draft and Ranked. That said, I'm not as unlucky as you. So far most people respect the position they've been allocated to and accept their responsibility for it since they chose it as their secondary position. As such I'm not quite sure I sympathise entirely with your frustration even if an ignorant troll came around, since at the end of the day, you are supposed to be able to main at least a champion in at least one lane, so you getting butted off of one position isn't necessarily terrible, as you said. It is annoying to meet a troll who can't understand that he has to stay put and not mess with the positions, but at the end of the day Riot can't do much. It gave you two positions to choose from, so that you won't have to accept going to a lane that you have no experience in (which was the last system). If some people are just idiots and destroy your experience, a report helps. Dynamic Queue can't be even more augmented, as far as I imagine.
It seems to me that I end up playing mid ~10% of the time with this system, compared to ~70% of the time with the old system, which is a significant downgrade to my enjoyment of the game. While it is true that under the old system I was able to play at least one champ in every role, it has been a very long time since S5 ended, and much has changed since then (I didn't play during preseason). I appreciate your well thought out response, but I disagree with the idea that there's nothing that riot can do. They can: - incentivize more players to pick the least desirable roles (making those roles have more agency in the game, or providing rewards) - include a report/kick option in the draft interface - have their ML detect that a player was assigned top but went mid and penalize the player if they were reported for not taking their assigned role It is precisely because the other teammates felt there was no way to deal with the troll that they turned on me, the perceived path of least resistance to resolution. If riot provided in-lobby report/kick votes, I bet they would have supported me instead.

: Support isn't a desirable enough position right now
To those who find support unengaging, please try the following: Pick a kill lane support. Learn that support's "killzones" - the places in lane where kills happen (usually this is not near the enemy's tower). When the minions are not in the killzone, roam. If your adc complains, tell them where the killzones are and say you will be there when the minions are in those areas. If they harass you, mute them. This discovery alone took me from p5 to d5 last season (Thx to my man blitz). My support games are 100% engaging; if ever you feel bored, that means you're probably not in a killzone, which is a signal to go roam. Try it a few times and I guarantee you'll see results!

: Cassiopeia Twin Fang expectations
In general, I would like to see Cass focus more on utility than damage. I think you've got a great opportunity to turn her into League's debuff extraordinaire. You should consider playing up the 'gorgon' aspect of her in addition to the 'poison' aspect - in my mind Cass is Medusa more than as a poisonous snake. The Necromancer and Mesmer classes from Guild Wars 1 have a large number of examples of cool debuffs. ***** EDIT - brought the ideas to the top. Max W second to heal any damage you do take. Purchase 2 hp pots per B during laning phase. Don't approach LB while below 50% hp unless you have ult up. Retreat or roam if enemy jungler is MIA and spidey senses tingling. Press R if she tries to burst you. When they start 3 man ganking you, consider your work here done and stop pushing. LB is up there with Morgana on the list of easy lanes for a Kayle who knows when it's okay to shove the lane; you can reliably double her CS in lane.

: Clean up Aether Wing Kayle's attack frame
Kayle main here. Kayle's autoattack VisualFX (the AoE "shockwave") and SoundFX ("smacking sound") do not match up with when the damage actually registers - both display before the damage is dealt, allowing players to cancel their autos after the VFX + SFX feedback tells them they've hit, but before they actually have hit. This problem occurs for me much more frequently on Aether Wing skin because it is slower than the others... I eventually got fed up and switched back to battleborn because of this

: Instead of replacing Zeke's with another item, why not just ADD an item?
I main GP support. I found it really fun to analyse the game state to decide whether or not to pick Zeke's up. It even affected my mastery choices pre game if I thought the team was one that could do well with Zeke's. Meaningful mastery and build path choice are pretty rare for supports, and part of the reason why I grew to prefer GP to the other options. I understand the "hidden power" argument against bonus stat auras, but I disagree with the analysis of it's impact. When I pick up Zeke's and our team is behind and then suddenly demolishes in a team fight, I more often than not get a comment from my team going "uhhh what just happened?!". Conversation about Zeke's ensues, and sometimes rallies a demoralized team - not only is this particularly satisfying for a support player, but even better for sup GP main, to get some kudos instead of the MUCH more common raging and presumed uselessness. I will miss this item. I will miss current GP when he is gone. I am nervous about the place a player like myself will have in this game afterwards.

: I actually prefer to have math and theory, before going in and try out thing. To me trying for the sake of try'n'see is just another way of doing things without thinking about what you are doing. Hence why i specifically asked for your though process about GP Support as a pick. To be fair, i wasnt really optimistic about that, since i could hardly figured out what could make him a good support choice over anything else available, but i wanted to see if there was anything that i couldn't see about the champion, that someone that play him often would have seen. I still dont see how the argument you bring for the choice would outweight the argument against. It even feels to me that at that point, Ezreal support would been a better support pick then GP (blink to get away vs oranges, Target Q that cost a hella lot of mana, vs skillshot Q that isnt too bad early in term of mana, AS buff between 20-40% vs AD buff between 6-20 ad), and even then i dont think both make that great of a support since they both kinda need items for their damage to be relevant. Then i look at your build choice. Interesting approach i guess, except...how do you remove your opponent wards ? How do you deal with vision denial for objective control? and how much do you actually spend on wards pre-9 ? I feel by the nature of the pick and your build path, vision control isnt something you value too much (I'm questionning how many wards you actually purchase before 9), and perhaps get the greater stealth ward totem just so your teammates dont bluntly flame you for not warding at all as a support... Vision denial is just as great as providing vision. + It look like, with your item path/spell order/being a support, it takes a while for your champion pick to justify itself while support are usually more about early game strength and utility scaling. The more i read your reply the more confused i am about this pick choice... So you dont max your only lane pressure tool, for like a bit of ad buff for your adc and some additionnal ad for yourself, on a 20cd spell that cost a lot of mana ? it also reduce your income by a lot and make me wonder are you complainning because you arent receiving +4 gold/30 sec ? I guess it does seem like bug, but you make it sound like its gamebreaking, while it such a little income to begin with(since everything is normal with melee attacks, the real difference is only the +4 gold from parrrley)..... I think your play style became even further more obvious with your description of how you use your ultimate. I can see the anti-dive utility the ultimate can bring, but it seem like rather weak for your own lane in comparison to other support disengage tools, i have to assume you use it to dissuade dives on the solo lanes. For the rest, picking up assists randomly on the map, slow chase? that seem like while a bit helpful, is hardly a reason to pick him up, specially since you wont have an ultimate to help your own lane, but i guess it's not too bad... The Worst is that to use Cannon Barrage, a 125sec (about 2 minutes) CD to wave clear ? That's just bad, in comparison to a Summon:Tibbers+stun, a Crescendo, a Solar Flare, A Moonsoon, A Static Field, A Glacial Fissure, or any Supprot Ultimate ability that will be actually used for a fight and will be an huge factor in winning it... It feel a bit like you are trying to go for a selfish style, on a selfless role lol. I'm not questioning if he is fun, after all if you actually main him, you must find him at least somewhat entertaining, but to put his effectiveness as a support on part with actual supports feel a bit like a misjudgment of how good actual support can be. Oh ! Of course i don't want to dissuade you to play whatever you like, you do you as they say :^), I was just genuinely looking to understand the pick choice, and felt in the end like you aren't actually playing support, but rather just trying to be like another damage dealer trying to grab every bit of gold he can find... a bit like a pirate i guess lol. I'm sorry if i sounded rude, re-reading my own reply made me believe i could have sounded just like that, it wasnt intentional! And in the end, you just made me even more grateful for the people that actually play support champions, so that's a plus.
I guess the point is that GP gets a gold advantage that other supports cannot match. He's 800g ahead of other supports because he doesn't need boots. He's 300g ahead of other supports because he only spends ~500g in lane on wards. That's gold that gets him his upgraded gold generation items faster, further cementing his gold advantage. Other supports pull in ~800g from their gold gen items. Sup GP often pulls 1100 from targon, 600 from avarice, 400 from Parrley, and 300 from assist mastery. So that's another 1500g ahead. Then he's got easier access to kills and assists with his higher-than-avg damage and global ult, which pulls in thousands if you're good. His E active is worth 1000g per affected ally at lvl 5. Zekes is worth 1000g per affected ally. Locket is worth 650g per affected ally. If you use this advantage to gain and extend your lead, you will win. If you still all behind, you have the enhanced gold generation and scaling to make a comeback more realistic. Couple that with all of the utility, durability, and dps that I think I've described pretty thoroughly already, and he's a pretty useful guy. This build brings you to 40% CDR, which puts your lvl 3 ult on ~40s CD. You have a point about lack of vision removal - one pink is not enough on its own - however we can usually rely on the jungler's sweep and pinks to do an adequate job. I think you are mistaken to underestimate the utility of being able to remotely shove a lane - the enemy has to respond or lose a tower, which extends your map control. If you don't want to play and see, and you're not convinced but still interested, feel free to add me in game. Not only will you see how it's done, but you'll also get a free win!
Risurin (NA)
: okay.... 1- I'm really confused by this point... the laugh argument is neglectable, nice flavour bonus i suppose, but really doesnt matter at all in term of pick efficiency. The poke argument : countered by sustain, or better poke/CCs/scaling...; it only comes down to having a self heal in that matter really, since relic shield proc and potions aren't GP's exclusive means of healing. I fail to see how that +8 gold at rank 5 Q (so not until lvl 9 ? in the meantime its liek +4 at lvl 1 + 5 at 3 +6 at 5 +4 at 7) make it "easy" for GP to spend money on potion more then any other support ? i guess it is technically more money so it is in a sense easier, but the drawback is that you actually need those potions much more by the nature of the champion pick (being a melee carry type of champion). IMO, if you are a poke oriented support, spellthief's edge is the better item for self gold generation + poke, but i guess GP want to kill things for Q passive. For the rest, and that's why i wanted your though process in the pick, i agree there is good potential for secure poke damage and the poison from the passive isnt too bad, but i the mana cost and the actual drawback may be too disadvantageous for its actual usefulness. The CC argument: huh typical its contered by Cleanse, QSS (and mercurial), Tenacity, and Mikael's Crucible, not all CCs are dodgable skillshots...; I'm not entirely sure about GP having more move speed then most support with t2 boots, since the standard is boots of mobility. There is actually a lot of support with CCs that are targetables, so the move speed benefits isnt really that great. Sure, it can be nice for reposition purposes in team fights, but giving movespeed isnt really a GP-Only thing. His slow isnt niether, and unless you are going ham in melee to stack it up, his slow just doesnt compare at all. Sure, it's nice that GP himself can be hard to lockdown, thanks to his E, but i hardly see this as a support benefit. In term of actually countering CCs, disengages spells like janna's Howling Gale [Q ]or morgana's Black Shield [E] are far more effective. The AD argument: Again, i see and understand the benefits for GP later on. but you are bringing a Lane argument. Let's say you do just that, maxing E first, not only you are dealing your Q base damage, which is the main strength i can see on the champion pick, but also it money making scaling which is basically the reason you made this post to begin with. Realistically, you may not even want to max it 2nd, W base heal and CD reduction is a lot more valuable then the flat ad/movespeed E gives. Janna's Eye of the Stom [E] gives more AD to your adc at all comparable rank, and is far more realistic as a first maxed out spell. I hardly see this as an actual good reason for the champion pick. All i can see is that, in term of GP and what he does for himself, isnt too bad, what he brings as an actual support seem really poor and questionable compared to the alternatives that other support can bring. I can understand the Global utility of his ultimate, but i feel that while you bring fairly well its good points, with its CD and reliance on having the enemy standing in it for an extended time, and not to mention that generally support arent the highest level play in the map, i tend to think that the benefit, while great, aren't necessarily a strong argument for the pick, since its all down to an ultimate ability. By the end of the game, if your support has the most gold in your team, something is going horribly wrong somewhere, specially if you think that the only normal way for GP to get additional gold, would be his Q (locked by the relic shield to 30 sec for +8 gold at lvl 9) and maybe an avarice blade to top it off ? Can't be nearly as much as the rest of your teammates, unless of course you are farming/getting the kills for yourself, something that isnt really support-ish to begin with. GP doesn't have auras, The closed to it, would be his E which is an AoE buff, not an aura. If you cast E and then an ally get near you, he doesnt get the benefits, likewise an ally that was near gp on E cast, doesnt lose it when moving away from gp. Bruiser level of tankiness and can kill a carry in 4 hits ? damn he must even more awesome if he is a solo lane! literally Broken! What i mean is between your gold item, sightstone, and boots, the choice of item to 4hit a champion and still be tanky seem really far-fetched and exaggerated. You would need like 1 mr item/ 1 armor item to be near bruiser level of tanky ness and something like triforce/shyv/IE to 4 shot a carry. Note that i assume you are getting a sight stone and boots, otherwise again, you are may not be really fullfilling the support role. Bruiser version of Vel'Koz ? what does that even mean ? Like velkoz but with tankyness ? gp doesnt seem as slow, doesnt have his cc, his poke, his true damage, his pseudo disengage ? 2- While its really nice of you for displaying such great positive attitude toward the situation at hand, i feel like asking a Kalista ADC to not bind herself to her support, is kinda counter-intuitive, and lock two of her abilities during the lane phase, one of which is what make Kalista so strong in lane, W's passive. You are already dictating the way the lane may go with your unconventional GP Support pick, but you would also want your ADC to neglect about half of her kit and a huge portion of their damage for it (ADC role is mostly damage)? That's seems just as frustrating from the ADC perspective then your current ? Alternatively, did you tried to ping the siege minions and make it clear you want to take it for targon stacks ? Were you in a situation were you making a bit of gold, wasnt as valuable as just clearing the wave rapidly and pressure the next objective ? I really cant tell, i wasnt in the game to see how it went and what actually made you win :). 3- okay, again i'm confused... Why does it matter that you get mana back on kills, as GP Support ? I mean its great as solo lane, but as support, since you arent taking that many CS to begin with, the mana refund isnt really anything too usefull ? If it had some % refund on champion hit or something, then sure thats awesome, but on kills, which isnt something you really want on a support, isnt too hot for this purpose. I find it hard to believe that the +4 +5 +6 gold of your Q on Targon stack really delayed your huh sheen, or that it can be great of a poke then W 12% hp damage, unless of course you are spamming Q on CD on their face, but then mana issues as you pointed out. I feel people have been rushing Runnans a lot less as of late, because of lack of actual damage early on, so it shouldnt be an issue until 2nd item. Obviously, like with most odd picks, losing your edge is significant. If your are saving your stacks to pop clutch heals with your ultimate, then you missing out on the gold anyway, and kalista W isnt an issue ? As you said, you would lose a lot of utility spending those stacks outside of Cannon Barrage. You also have to question if the gold or the utility is more worth. Again you compare a bunch of stuff together to 1 thing alone. The difference is more like 33% less gold with talisman (~24g/30 vs ~35g/30), if you consider only waves of 6 minions and not the bigger waves of mid-late game when team-fights happen while minion wave stack up. Also i would like to note that between Avarice, sightstone, boots, gold item, you seem rather squishy for a bruiser... If anything i'm more confused about that pick...
I think at this point it would be easier if you just tried him out. relic > targon > avarice > sheen > Zekes > IBG > Locket > IE > Shiv > LW upgrade yellow trink at lvl 9, buy wards until then. 9/0/21 masteries. tanky runes with ad or ar pen marks + a single 1% crit chane mark take q first. then R > E > W/Q Poke the guy with the lowest armour in lane. Try to conserve Targon stacks for Cannon minions and for when healing is needed, but never hold onto max stacks. Buy mana gem after targon so you can afford to poke more. If enemy hard engages, just focus the enemy ad (or sup if they're low) and you'll either win the fight or your ad will escape. Use your ult to pick up assists, thwart dives, slow enemies chasing/being chased, and to clear waves in empty lanes. You should get to end game with the same gold as a solo lane, and then pick up lots of gold when you start getting kills. He is not Janna or Thresh or the other supports. He's a fun alternative who can be every bit as effective if you play your cards right.

: Honestly... This is just a post complaining about one game you've had with Kalista. Literally, you made this post RIGHT after you had ONE game with ONE bad Kalista and YOU chose to make BAD decisions like Q'ing the minion SHE HAD HER W PASSIVE ON when you could have chosen to hit OTHER minions like every melee support does when they're paired with Kalista. Seriously. It would be one thing if this was a REAL complaint about Kalista, but these threads that only crop up right after the OP has a game where ONE Kalista does poorly on their own team is simply stupid. All of these threads are made by people who either have a horrible Kali on their team or the enemy has an extremely fed one and this applies to threads about nearly EVERY champion. It's ASININE.
In the first paragraph I linked to a months old post made by me where I reported the problem.

: Perhaps you can take this as a sign to stop playing Gankgplank support and probably ruining your adc's day?
Most of the ADCs I've played with enjoy winning and warm up to my pick very quickly.

There is a serious problem with the interaction between Gangplank's Parrrley and Kalista's W. I have known about this bug for a while (I reported it [here](http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/2UTc906O-gameplay-gangplank-q-kalista) months ago - the thread got no attention and the bug was not fixed), but was still forced to endure a game with it because of the stupid way that Kalista is set up. > > Here's what went down. I was first pick and locked GP support. 4th pick selects Kalista and before he locks I'm asking him not to because of the bug. He locks in anyway. Sure I could have dodged, but I explained the bug to him, and said everything will be fine if he just makes sure he pairs with the jungler or something, to which he replies "Ok". So everything will be fine, right? Of course, the game starts and first thing he does is murder my beautiful pirate with his stupid spear. My game was ruined. And there was nothing I could do about it. (I have nearly 100 games as GP support, and this was by far my worst). > > I understand that it's a complex game and you can't get to all the [bugs](http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/AbaJMtTE-gameplay-aether-wing-kayle-vfx-sfx) right away. Especially for a fringe case (GP and Kalista laning together). But the way that Kalista is set up, where the oathsworn has no choice but to accept, is totally bogus. Why does a teammate get to decide my gameplay experience? I told him I didn't want him to take Kalista, and if he did, not to soul bond me. Why does the game let him do it anyway? I have a few questions : 1st - aside of being a...huh...GP Support Main, what is the though process into picking GP as a Support ? I'm not trying to imply your trolling! i'm just wondering if there is actual benefit to such pick that i'm not seeing. 2nd - Did you consider, that while you are asking why your gameplay experience is can be affected by another player picking Kalista as ADC, while you are not only heavily suggesting them to not pick what could be their favorite champion, while you get to obviously pick yours, and ask her to not have access to 2 of her abilities in her lane (Soul-Marked Sentinel passive [W] and Fate's Call [R]), which is trying to dictate her own gameplay experience as well ? 3rd - A bit of follow up on question 1, but i would think that it would be a nice synergy between Parrrley [Q] and Sentinel [W] for actual lane poking. That could be potential tons of damage and i think sacrificing 4 to 8 gold from the parley passive is an acceptable thing, specially since your relic shield wont have that many opportunity to proc early and your mana and Q cd should be saved for harass mostly. As i see it, the only moment you would want to Q a minion is when you have a stack to pass to your adc, so i've trouble seeing how at best 8 gold every 30s is that much of an issue for you (rank 5 Q when you have a {{item:3401}} stack. Unless of course, you are just trying to get the farm for yourself...which isnt being a support...
1 Gangplank has one of the strongest laughs of any male champion. The typical situation in bot is that you'll have an AD champ paired with a Support with poke and/or CC. So let's break it down: **Poke**: countered by sustain: GP's got heals from Relic Shield, his W, and pots (which are easy to buy for him with his higher than normal cold generation. GP has poke of his own, which hits hard given its mana cost, CD and point-click nature. **CC**: typically countered by move speed (and oranges): Without boots, GP will have higher move speed from his E passive than most champs with T2 boots. This makes dodging CC pretty easy, and since E's active gives AoE MS, you can help your carry dodge, too. GP applies a slow on hit, which is enough to help allies hit their skills or escape. **AD**: GP's E gives AoE AD. Giving +20AD to your carry makes a huge difference, and you scale well with it also. With this bonus, you can win most reasonable trades. Levelling his E lets GP have more AD than the ADCs in lane (until they get BF and such...) As you can see that he brings a lot to the table in lane. He's also got tons of utility! GP's global AoE ult gives vision, dmg, slow, and relic shield heals on a short cooldown. You can save towers, teammates, scout, secure kills, get random assist gold... it's super versatile. By end game, support GP has the highest gold in game, multiple auras, is bruiser level of tankiness, and can kill a carry in 4 hits. He's like a bruiser version of a Velkoz support. 2 My teammate acknowledged but disregarded my requests, which I accepted because that is his right. He had the option of playing how he wanted, and he exercised that. What I am complaining about here is that I had no such option - I am forced to play my game the way he wanted, which I think isn't so fun. Bear in mind that I displayed a positive attitude towards the guy (though I was very frustrated) and we did end up winning after a very tough game. 3 GP gets a mana refund on kill, which makes all the difference because he is quite mana hungry. We tried poking them down with W passive, but I went oom way too fast. And then I was behind on my item schedule and didn't get my sheen nearly as fast, which would have output much more damage than the soul marked procs. When kalista uses Runaans to put soul marked on the whole wave, your gold generation item stops generating gold. GP is a... questionable... support pick, so yes, losing that gold income is significant. Taking one of the other gold income items is a poor substitute, because as a bruiser you need that HP and increased healing. Also relic shield has amazing synergy with his ult and I'd say his ult loses a lot of its utility without those global clutch heals. The rank 5 Q (+8/30) with Avarice (+2/30 +2/10) and targon killing cannon and melee minions every 30s (~35g/30) is gunna generate 17 G/10, which is very significant (double the gain of staying in lane with Medallion with an ADC who hits every CS).
: still no fix?
Not yet, no. I wouldn't recommend taking GP + Kalista botlane for now.

Its the same with Ez Q it applies on-hit effects too except crit and tiamat. Oh and btw it should not be able to proc tiamat that should be a bug fix. Might as well fix Thresh and being able to execute minions with Relic Shield when they're low to last hit point. Runnans works with Thresh's auto attack but not Tiamat. So yes, GP procs Tiamat because it acts as a melee attack and not ranged. Ez Q doesn't act as a melee attack or auto attack therefore doesn't proc crit. Thresh doesn't proc Tiamat because he's ranged, yet he gets the effect of Relic Shield. Stop being stubborn.
