: I'm personally very in favor of the mana changes. Mages have been dominant Mid lane in competitive for multiple seasons now, and their ability to successfully farm out the wave via PvE wave clearing has been a huge component. I think this is a necessary step if we are going to get other classes back into Mid in competitive, which is clearly a win to me (no single class should dominate a position for multiple years). We have been testing some slightly different numbers than what's on PBE now, so I'm not yet confident that the current changes are quite hitting the mark in terms of tuning. Hopefully we can get them into a good spot for 8.9 though and if it turns out Mages are still circumventing resource management afterwards we can do followup further nerfs to the culprit (I'd suspect it'd be Tear in this scenario).
>(no single class should dominate a position for multiple years). So, uh, what're your thoughts on bot lane?

: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: January 19
Since we're discussing counterplay, why exactly are we buffing Tryndamere? He's one of the least interactive champs in the game, doing nothing but auto attacking and tower diving while also not dying. Any plans to give him some counterplay beyond "cc him and run away faster than he can chase you (which is pretty fast)"?
: Yooooo!!! Thank you for taking the time to write up your thoughts TTK Techno! I just got around to answering some of the boards posts, and a fellow Rioter referred your post to me to check out. You make a lot of very well thought out points here amigo, and these are all things that we ping pong back and forth during our review meetings. Fistbump! Also, just to clarify, we aren't going to just make the skin that wins the votes and then completely toss out the other ideas and never come back to them. This event has clearly struck a chord with players and has brought out some passionate discussions (such as yours!) so we'd be fools to just never revisit the other two skins. A really cool side effect that we didn't anticipate is that there are a ton of skin ideas players have pitched as a reaction to the vote. I used to spend hours dreaming up skin ideas for Champs as a player, so to see something my team is a part of sparking that creativity is extremely rewarding and humbling. Please hit us with feedback throughout the process of the skins creation as well. We're all gonna make something kickass together, so strap in and get comfy!

This event has clearly struck a chord with players and has brought out some passionate discussions (such as yours!) so we'd be fools to just never revisit the other two skins. This feels _really_ hard to believe, though. There used to be a fairly regular cadence of newer champions getting new skins, but that ended with Kindred, then Illaoi was completely skipped over, and since then, Jhin has gotten 3 (!) new skins but all other champions who've been released or relaunched in the last two years have been more or less abandoned. I'd love to believe that we'll see these others at some point, but for now they're kind of just hanging around with Dunkmaster Illaoi and Dragon Master Swain in the big bucket of neat things that will probably never happen.
: VU(Visual Updates) needed more than VGU(Visual and Gameplay Update) on some champs
Can you guys at least do something about Kassadin's voiceover? Two of his eleven lines reference a gameplay mechanic he hasn't had for years.

Look at Illaoi or Sion, their weapons feel huge and heavy, no matter how fast or slow they are. Tryndamere's attacks feel light and quick, like he's swinging around a wrapping paper tube, rather than a massive sword as large as he is. Tryndamere's crit AA (which you will do often, particularly as the game goes on) is among the weightiest AAs in the game. His normal AA is a quick little swipe or poke, the sword equivalent of a jab. With his crit he takes his sword in both hands and slams it down on you. It's amazing.
Right, and you can't see that because it happens twice a second. There's no time to appreciate how heavy it is because it has to be so sped up that it just looks like he's flailing about.
: But that makes no sense. Slow methodical heavy swings make sense for someone who needs to emphasize every strike they make (like the Lawbringer's MOST VERSTATILE WEAPON). Tryn, and swords for the most part, aren't like that. Tryn is angry, he's rage filled. Slow strikes don't emphasize that, fast furious hits do, as he wails and wails on his opponent, bearing no mind of stance or technique, but full blown rage as he throws his blade at your.

: Another Yordle champ, I hope. Side note, I wonder if Kled would pass. I feel like he'd be too damn stubborn to fail.
Kled would rather die than back down from a fight. He'd pass with flying colors.
: OMG I CAN BELIEVE THIS!!!!! Why wouldnt Jhin pass? He moves to express his art! He sees beauty while others see death! He pours his heart an soul into every shot he fires! He'd probably ace that freaking tentacle test!
He specifically says that he's compelled to do it, not that he wants to. He _enjoys_ what he does, but he doesn't necessarily do it because that is what he wants his life to be.
: i just dont like how much healing you have, aside from that its not that bad.
Well, she's an immobile melee champ with no cc, she needs to have some sort of inherent tankiness to let her survive fights. Some champs ({{champion:86}} {{champion:78}} ) get bonus resistances, some {{champion:72}} {{champion:54}} get shields, and some {{champion:122}} {{champion:36}} get healing. It all serves the same purpose, it just gets there differently.
: your main now has a 40% pick rate without being changed recently
{{champion:420}} People would still have no idea how she works and make all the same complaints about being dunked that they currently do, just more frequently.

: Does Galio's new lore have some inspiration on the Titan of Braavos from Game of Thrones?
The one in GoT is just a straight copy of a thing that actually existed, the Colossus of Rhodes.
: Reminder that Sion has met and fought Galio.
Wasn't the whole point of reanimating him because he was the most outrageously powerful fighter they've ever had?

: Since Lux got a VO update, who else should get one? Pick from the following ten.
Kassadin needs it most. He has only 9 lines, two of which are direct references to a mechanic that he no longer has in his kit. He even got a visual update and an ability update, but no voiceover update.

: But then you are absolutely forced into building lethality. what if you want to try diff items and stuff? you'll be very useless simply because of the scaling restriction on your abilities that absolutely requires you to run lethality. Cool idea though.
I mean, Ekko and Malphite sometimes build no AP, despite all their abilities scaling with it. Hell, most AD champs have an AP ratio or two that they don't care about 95% of the time.
Knoyle (NA)
: Idgaf if you play Smite/Ghost Tank Ekko support.
Fun fact: this is why support is so unpopular.

Verdade (EUNE)
: Dude what? Have you seen his mana costs? He has artificially inflated mana costs because he has that passive
Yes, because otherwise he'd be a degenerate shit to play against. If he had reasonable costs, he'd just sit at the edge of the FoW all game making your life hell until he felt like going to buy items. With his high costs and mana restoration on auto attacks, he needs to occasionally get within interacting distance of his opponent. It allows him to function in the game without being banned due to just being so annoying.
Danjeng (NA)
: How about Xerath? He has a similar passive; it restores mana.
His is decently designed, though. Nunu and Liss just get free spells for doing things they'd do anyway, but Xerath naturally wants to stay at max range, and so he has a passive to reward him for getting a bit closer, to give enemies a chance to respond to him.
: I agree. Plus it's trite. How many League champions have lost everyone they love and become the hero after the fact (or the villain)? Too many to count. It's becoming a bit overused.
At least we have {{champion:22}} {{champion:23}} and {{champion:122}} {{champion:119}} and {{champion:81}} {{champion:102}} and {{champion:136}} {{champion:136}}
Sraeg2013 (EUNE)

First of all, Darius builds ONE damage item, black cleaver, and now he's capable of deleting LoL's entire champion rooster with unhealable true damage. Hec builds ONE damage item, trinity force, and does the same thing. It's obviously broken when they build 1 damage item and the rest full tank. Both Vi and Shyv builds 2-3 or else they'll be useless.

: I ~~used to~~ run CDR runes on everyone because I love pressing buttons.
Oh, yeah, after I realized that crit wasn't really useful, I switched to a full CDR page. Of course, that was before every goddamn thing got CDR stapled to it, and it was actually a struggle to get much.
: {{champion:121}} {{champion:107}}
I've been experimenting with Duskblade and Ghostblade on {{champion:56}} for better burst and chasing, respectively. Haven't really been able to see if it's worth it or not since all my games have snowballed before I finished them (serious case of firstworldproblems).
: All these years, I've been fighting Leblanc all wrong...
I used to run crit runes on casters, because they auto'd a lot in the beginning of the game and runes mostly matter at the beginning.
: What if they bitch about Teemo being non-meta?
: Juggernauts can have CC, though. {{champion:122}} has a hook and a slow {{champion:36}} has a low CD slow {{champion:75}} has a strong targeted slow {{champion:102}} can carry people {{champion:48}} (semi juggernaut when built with damage and E maxed last) has his knockup/slow on his pillar {{champion:77}} has a stun {{champion:106}} can flip people {{champion:83}} has a wall and a slow It's more that juggernauts tend to have low range and/or reliability on their CC meaning that combined with their low mobility they are weaker at peeling and engaging than other champions and just overall can't lock a target down as long as a tank can.
And {{champion:420}} can pull health bars into her team.
: MRW I picked Maokai jungle, and my teammate said "Please pick a proper champion/He is non-meta"
When someone bitches about my non-meta pick, I just switch to {{champion:17}} .
: PSA: Courage of the Colossus was not specifically intended for engage tanks
>Rioters have already said that it's intended for anyone who feels like they need the windows of tankiness that it provides. And yet there are a sizeable number of champions who can't even trigger it.
: what if they ban my declare
: I worked on the Anivia changes and was traveling for the holidays, so direct all blame in my direction in regards to this team :) Anyways: * She is supposed to have a vulnerable laning phase, and that just wasn't true. She generally won or had a skill matchup into everything because she was a jack of all trades that was better than almost all. * Most mages have set-up to their 1shot combos. Obviously their are outliers to this (hello {{champion:134}}) but generally if you get 1shotted and there was nothing you can do about it other than "stay outside of this champion's range of threat or get instagibbed" it leaves the designer with very little wiggle room to adjust power * her itemization leads her to being much less vulnerable than other champions: on top of her passive she almost always builds Seraph+Archangel, so she was insane at itemizing for almost every scenario. Even when an LB or Syndra bursts you, they've generally used their ultimates and have itemized damage. Anivia wasn't gated by having to build full damage items nor was she committing any cooldowns. Laning against her post-6 turned into "I get shoved out and die because of this undodgable combo" or "I win this all-in but she eggs". If she is very weak (which sentiment currently seems to be, but data-driven is always ideal) then she can be buffed in several different ways that I've discussed with the designer. The point of making changes of this magnitude is that they're sustainable changes, and I do believe these are sustainabble -- even if she released weak in the short term.
>Most mages have set-up to their 1shot combos. Obviously their are outliers to this (hello ) but generally if you get 1shotted and there was nothing you can do about it other than "stay outside of this champion's range of threat or get instagibbed" it leaves the designer with very little wiggle room to adjust power So, why did Annie get to keep that part of her kit during the update?

: If it scaled with bonus hp then how would it scale? because 7% of bonus hp early would be negligible, and if you gave it a higher ratio to make it's early game not complete shit, then it would scale stupidly hard with hp heavy builds, making it even more overpowered than it is right now
Just give it a bit of base value. Instead of 10+10/level + 7% max hp per target, change it to 60+5/level + 7% bonus hp per target.
: Name 1 change to 1 ability that would completely break a champion.
{{champion:59}} Increased cast range of Demacian Standard by 100.
